Jenis ini menyerupai HalfMoon.. namun semua finya lebih pendek, dan sifatnya yang sedikit lebih agresif membuat ikan ini lebih disukai banyak orang. ikan ini sangat aktif. dan sangat menyenangkan.

• CT : Crown tail : kenapa disebut crown tail karena ujung ekor yang membentuk serit menyilang seolah olah membentuk mahkota.. jenis ini masih memiliki harga yang mahal
• Balok : serit yang tersendiri sendiri dan tulangan yang nampak kokoh membuat ikan ini disebut serit balok.
• serit biasa : saya menyebutnya serit biasa karena ekornya hanya terserit biasa aja ga begitu suka.. hehehe

Today’s assignment from Poetic Asides? To write a slippery poem. “The subject can be about something slippery (snake, soap, etc.), or the poem itself can deal with a slippery subject (I’m thinking big concepts like that have words ending in -ism might fit the definition of a slippery subject).”

I started by thinking of slipping out of bed, and then the concept changed. But perhaps the topic is slippery enough. Really, as long as the prompt creates a poem – what does it matter? Or to quote Alfred E. Neuman, “What, me worry?”

Once in the Night

Once in the night, I fell out of you.
I pushed away from your gravity
And rolled up the side of the bed-bowl.
But I miscalculated and landed hard.

So what does it take to get sentenced to two years probation, a psychological evaluation and community service?

A Portland man attacked his ex-girlfriend, after she broke up with him. Sarah Harris had broken up with 27 year old Donald Earl Fite III by phone. When she returned to her Portland apartment she found him lying on her bed pleading to work things out.

Harris tried to leave, but Fite shoved her against a wall, grabbed her hair and tossed her against a bathtub. Harris broke away and when she returned with a police officer she found her bright purple betta fish named “DeLorean” on the floor with a knife through it.

According to court records, Fite quickly admitted killing the fish, telling police: “If she can’t have me, then she can’t have the fish.”

Fite pleaded guilty to animal abuse and domestic violence assault.

The Associated Press reported that “Fite’s attorney, Tom Macnair, said that killing the fish was a “very low point” in his client’s life.”He is absolutely mortified and ashamed about what he did to the fish,” MacNair said in Multnomah County Circuit Court.”

And Just when you Thought Things Couldn’t get Weirder!!!!

The Associated Press also stated “Prosecutor Eric Zimmerman told Judge Eric Bergstrom that Harris plans to get a memorial tattoo of the fish and wanted Fite to pay for it. Bergstrom, however, declined to make Fite pay restitution for the tattoo.”

The judge put a restraining order against Fite ordering him to stay away from Harris, but said he could still have contact with fish.

Woman calls police to report theft:

Next let’s travel to Brant Township, Michigan where we learn that they are limits to being a crime victim.

A 54-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday after reporting two men had broken into her home in Brant Township.

The Associated Press reported that “Detective Sgt. Randy F. Pfau said the woman told deputies the men fled after one of them demanded her marijuana plants. He said the woman then was booked on charges of manufacturing and delivering marijuana.”

The fish room is coming along and hopefully, will be done in the next few days and I can get the fish settled for the winter. I have some nice Copper Halfmoon females I need to get rid of to make room for another spawn. If anyone is interested, just drop me a post or email. I am trying to get pictures and will post the fish on AquaBid when I do. These females are out of my first spawn. To get an idea of what this spawn produced check THIS OUT. The father of this spawn is the male pictured in the upper right corner of this blog.. and the female can be seen HERE. I only want $7 each for them and if you want several, we can work something out.

I also have 2 young males from a repeat of this cross. Both are very nice but missing their ventral fins. I have plenty to breed and with out the vents, they are not showable. One is a very nice, dark Copper Butterfly with great pattern. He would be nice for breeding or a colorful pet. Again, will try to get some pics in the next week. I have a Christmas Open House to get ready for in my shop and lots of candles and melts to get made so the fish are taking a back seat right now. I will answer any questions on the fish as I am on the computer a lot.

People fit for work will be able to claim only the unemployment benefit of £64 a week – rather than £89 in incapacity benefit. They will be ordered to look for a job.

It is estimated that the move would save the Treasury £1 billion over five years.

A “Get Britain Working” theme will form the centrepiece of the Conservatives’ annual conference which begins today in Manchester.

Mr Cameron will also pledge to scrap some of Labour’s flagship welfare programmes.

However, the launch of the benefits scheme was last night in danger of being overshadowed by the debate over how to deal with the Irish ratification of the Lisbon Treaty.

The vote has added to the pressure on Mr Cameron to commit his party to hold a poll on the treaty if the Tories come to power. The party leadership had been clinging to the hope that after the Irish approved the deal, the Czech Republic would stall the ratification process until the Conservatives came to power, allowing a vote in Britain.

However, last night those hopes appeared to be dashed when Vaclav Klaus, the Czech president, said it was “too late” for Britain to try to halt the treaty.

“I am afraid that the British people should have been doing something really much earlier,” he said. “There will never be another referendum [on the treaty] in Europe.”

The indication that the Czechs will ratify the treaty within weeks will force the Conservatives to explain their current policy of not letting “matters rest”, even after ratification.

Increasingly, it appears that Mr Cameron, urged on by William Hague, his deputy and shadow foreign secretary, will consider holding a referendum on specific parts of the treaty which he believes he can still renegotiate.

The Tory leader is conscious that any vote on Lisbon after ratification would be seen in terms of Britain’s continued membership of the European Union – something he is keen to avoid.

Yesterday, Mr Cameron likened his strategy to that of Margaret Thatcher’s demand that the EU return some of Britain’s financial contribution in 1984.

He told the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show: “I don’t believe in going into any situation or any negotiation thinking that you’re going to fail. I mean Margaret Thatcher was told frequently: ‘You’ll never get any money back from Europe. That’s not the way it works. You just have to give in and take what you’re given.’ I don’t accept that.”

In 1984 Mrs Thatcher won a rebate at Fontainebleau from the EU. She was angry at the amount that was spent on subsidies to Continental farmers and believed that Britain was paying too much for its membership of the EU.

Mr Cameron yesterday set out areas he would seek to renegotiate.

“We think that the social and employment legislation, we think that’s an area that ought to be determined nationally rather than at the European level,” he said. “There are many things in the Lisbon Treaty – giving more power over home affairs and justice – that we don’t think is right.”

Today, the Conservatives will try to move the focus of the conference back on to domestic policy with a new series of measures to tackle Britain’s work-shy culture.

These will include proposals for reforming the welfare system, increasing the number of education places and boosting enterprise.

The Conservatives will target the 2.6 million people claiming incapacity benefit – most of whom are believed to be healthy enough to work.

Private firms will be brought in to assess each incapacity benefit claimant.

There will also be new help for young unemployed Britons with the state intervening after they have been claiming the dole for six months, rather than 10 months at present. Tens of thousands of new apprenticeships and other training schemes will be offered.

George Osborne, the shadow Chancellor, will this week set out detailed plans on reducing public spending.

“We face a twin crisis in this country,” Mr Cameron said. “We have a debt crisis but we also have a very serious jobs crisis.

“We are making it the centre piece of our conference, a really massive get Britain working programme.”

Labour last night accused the Conservatives of “rehashing” their plans without providing the necessary support for job seekers.

Tenho um betta vermelho, ganhei do meu namo. Já faz algum tempo, mas só há pouco resolvi que ele se chamaria Francisco. Demorei para dar o nome porque queria mesmo era um cachorro, mas como ainda não posso ter, resolvi que um peixe estava ok. De cachorro pra peixe é bem diferente, né?

Olhava pra ele, alimentava, trocava a água, olhava mais um pouco. Depois de um tempo passei a falar com ele também, humm, sinal de que as coisas estavam mudando. E não vou mencionar que cantei pra ele, porque aí a coisa começa a ficar um tanto ridícula.

Foi quando olhei pra ele e veio nome: Francisco! Sim, já era amor. As vezes coloco um espelho pra ele ficar louco de raiva e tentar matar o pobre reflexo. Mas o que o Francisco mais gosta de fazer é tentar passar por lugares apertados. Ele tenta, tenta, dá mais espaço, vem nadando e com impulso ele fnalmente passa. E por horas repete essa passada até que percebe que pode passar pelo mesmo lugar do lado oposto. E então repete tudo de novo, mil vezes. Sabendo disso, comecei a colocar as coisas no aquário de forma que ele tenha muitos lugares e frestas para passar. Ele adora. Eu também.

As vezes ficava com dó de ver o Francisco sozinho, parecendo meio borocochô e pensava “mas coitado, o cara deve estar sentindo a maior solidão”. Mas não podia fazer nada, o cara é brigão, assim como todos os machos bettas. Que tal um amor? Ninguém pode viver sem e foi aí que resolvi que ele precisava de uma companheira. E enfim, hoje ela chegou. Aêêêê Chiquinho!!

Toda branquinha, meio prateada, sei lá eu como se define essa cor. O fato é que ela reflete as cores que estão por perto. Linda!! Ele já está de olho, mas por enquanto estão em aquários separados até que eu tenha mais conhecimento e tempo para uní-los.

Puxa, estou ansiosa pelos próximos capítulos. Até lá!

Apart from me being human and him being a fish, my betta and I actually have a lot in common. I still remember the day I saved his life. It was a rainy day with temperatures in the mid 60’s. On days like that you can’t help being sad. Why is it that moods change with the weather? From what I’ve studied, sadness on cloudy, gray days come from the lack of light. Depression from a lack of light is often treated with “light therapy.” How conveniently named, huh? Well, on that particular day I went searching for a friend, my “light” so to speak, to cure my depression and I found him at PetSmart. He’s a beautiful Betta Splendens named Rafa after my favorite tennis player. Most Bettas I had looked at that day showed no interest in me, but Rafa was different. The second our eyes met, he swam circles of joy. It was as he knew that we both about to embark on a friendship that we both longed for. Rafa needed a much bigger home that the small plastic cup that he currently resided him and I needed a companion. This was a win-win situation for both of us. Even though Rafa doesn’t talk, he knows when I’m feeling down and stares at me until I either laugh or drop food pellets in for him!

Var till Stockholm i helgen och fick med mig en Betta Imbellis hona hem. Så nu har jag äntligen ett par som jag ska sätta till lek framöver. Jag hoppas verkligen på yngel för denna fisk är overkligt vacker!

we brought him home today, hes absolutely lovely with a metallic aqua or sageish body and deep red fins
i do believe he is the largest betta we have adopted, but just because hes a giant doesn’t mean we will treasure him any less. :>

i see now that this thing has been potentially up and running for well over a year

since before i moved, since before i had pets, since before i was willing to devote ten minutes to this thing

not that it was noticed, i hope to gain a few regulars i must admit but realize its probably too much to ask for

i moved into a lovely but small and expensive(for the size) apartment
—for the girls: did you ever make barbie doll houses out of shoe boxes butting them next to one another to make rooms?
well i did and thats what i comapre it to

last September i adopted my first fish and it was the start of a whole new chapter for my domestic partner (his name is Daniel and shall be referred to as D for all practicality) and his name was mugen and he was a crimson betta splenden we loved him dearly
a few months later in december we adopted Kiddo a lemon yellow half-moon betta
at this point we have 4 aquariums with a variety of characters pictures to follow or go find them on my flickr.

im fascinated by art in its many forms, and am a bit of a culture nut  constantly wanting to try and discover new things

They were noble fish. In the evenings we turned on the light and enjoyed them. Most of the time.

Splaish was especially enjoyed, as he travelled quite a bit. He was a nomadic fish, living alternately in Conyers and Atlanta. He was by far the more worldy of the two, and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was a bit more debonair, too, as his beautiful tail was almost an object d’art. Then Splish tried to take a bite out of it, resulting in their separation. 

Splish moved out to her own fishbowl, but frankly, she was slumming it. Splaish had the nice digs, with the filter and light and his own personal fishman-cave. He stayed there in his final days, rarely having the energy to venture out. Still, he was well taken care of…he was fed every other day, and the light was turned on to be enjoyed. I would have to say, there was nary a fish in the world who was as enjoyed as Splaish.

Splish, on the other hand, was just a bully. She kept me company while I washed the dishes. Her light was always on, so she was very much enjoyed as well.

You will be missed, good fish.
