Like, sometimes I think he thinks he is being funny, but it’s just hurtful.

I often call a warning out to someone about to pet my nameless cat: “Look out!” Almost always they say, “Why?” or “How come?” Um, why do you think, you silly upbeat moron? “Look out! — he’s drunk?” or “Look out! — he hits on babies?” Perhaps, “Look out — he likes to dance but he’s a horrible dipper!”

What the hell do you think, “look out” for? He attacks people.

He is a biter with no name who brooks no petting and will dig his claws into your arm and give tearing off your hand his all, purring to beat the band the entire time. I’ve had him eleven years and I theorize that he purrs loudest when he is “getting” someone because it turns him on to defy expectations and fight the Man.

I love my cat. When he dies it is going to fucking destroy me. I’m so weak for loving a cat. But I do. That little guy is my soulmate.

I guess after a few years, signs like these fade. Strangely after all the fade, you still get the message since the drop shadow stays. Huzzah for negative space.

James 4:5, “Or do you suppose that the Scripture is speaking to no purpose that says, “The Spirit Whom He has caused to dwell in us yearns over us and He yearns for the Spirit to be welcome with a jealous love?”

Where is my welcome sign for Holy Spirit? What does it look like to the enemy of my soul?  Is it posted clearly on the gates of my eyes and my ears? 

I think that our WELCOME HOLY SPIRIT sign should be like the “Beware of Dog!” sign that some people post on their gates.  There’s no misunderstanding that sign.  It means, “this place is highly guarded” and if you come in here, I ain’t calling these dogs off because you have been forewarned!  

Most of the time when you see that kind of sign, you can be sure  you wouldn’t get inside and be greeted with a sissy dog of some sort! Hopefully not anyway.  Those signs are the mark of fighting dogs…dogs that “jealously love”  their people! 

That’s what I want my sign to say!  Don’t even think about coming in here! Enter at your own risk because I love Holy Spirit! I love the Word of God and I love all He has entrusted me with.  You may be like a roaring lion but this lamb has teeth and the real Lion is inside!

What we allow in and out of our gates should be a sign post to everyone around us.  What we watch and listen to, either a “welcome sign” to Holy Spirit or a “welcome sign” to the enemy.  We can invite fear, poverty, sickness, lust, hate, etc. with what we watch or listen to or we can put up a sign that says, “NO TRESPASSING!” 

Are we jealous enough yet?

This week’s theme for SAPCC was Risk. I tell you it’s freaking hard to plan out a shot when it’s raining everyday all day for 3 weeks straight. (picture me shaking my fist to the sky with a grimacing look on my face) Thankfully it stopped raining for an hour today, the sun came out and I was on a mini hunt for my picture.                                                                            One really has to be careful about stray animals in the Philippines.  This can be harder for those, like me, who are animal lovers.  My first instinct when I see a cute dog or cat on the street is to pat the little sucker!  Not such a great idea in some parts if one values their life!

Sometimes I learn the best lessons fro my dog, Buddy (AKA The Big Baby Jesus).  I feed him dog food every day.  Dog food is good for him, it’s healthy, it’s steadily available, it’s normal.  But let’s be honest.  I bet that sometimes, in the mind of a 70 lb. pitbull…dog food can get reallll boring.  So sometimes, I feed the Big Baby Jeez a big fat, bloody pile of raw meat.

I love watching Budsack eat some raw meat.  It makes him ridiculously happy.  It throws some excitement into his life.  And I could swear, when Buddy tastes some blood, it makes him more confident and less angsty.  

I look Buddy’s eyes when he’s mealin’ on some raw cow, and the homey says to me: “This is What I should be eating.  I’m a beast son!  I’m a monster…people have nightmares about me.  This is how I’m s’posed to feed!”

After Buddy takes down a pile of beef,  he walks around his yard a little taller than usual, circles around a few times and then lies down completely satisfied and calm and looks at people outside his fence like “who want what?”.   

Anyway.  Here’s the point.  I feel like, in my life recently, a dude been eating a lot of dog food.  Piles of kibble all in my face.  Everyday.  I feel like I’m a little out of touch with my inner monster, and without the monster I’m just a domesticated canine.  So I’m gonna start working on that today.

Today, I’ma go find me some raw meat to meal on.  Then the beast will be back in the yard…lookin at you like “who want what?”.

Only A Paper Dog
Captain Cliff and I took a leisurely drive along the back roads of Stafford County. One thing I will not soon forget were the dogs. Dogs, Dogs Everywhere! Big Dogs. Barking Dogs. Car chasing dogs. This was the least scary dog of all, as he was only a “Paper Dog.”
