Bin zwar noch nicht so weit… aber ich hab Spaß dran.

“When Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ships in March, it will deliver the best online multiplayer experience ever.” Those were the words of Karl Magnus Troedsson, Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s executive producer, at this week’s GamesCom in Cologne Germany.

Even if only half of that statement turns out to be true, we either have a new sequel to the Battlefield series this coming March, or we will have an experience with multiplayer that goes far beyond what gamers have enjoyed in Activision’s own Call of Duty 4.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is planned to be available to consumers for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on March 2 In the United States and March 5 in Europe.

My hair that is. Had a hair cut today, not sure whether or not I really like it. It’s basically the same as before, but there’s less of it, and it just seems a little strange, though I’ll probably get used to it fairly quickly. But I don’t really care that much to be honest, it’s not like iI’m going to Milan for the fasion week or anything.

In other news: I tried to reinstall BF2 today, and discovered that the disc has a scratchy thing on it, so the installer gets stuck trying to install the Dalain Plant map.

Because shooting the tank with your AK-101 will kill it.

So that’s a bit gay, as I quite fancied playing BF2. I installed BF2142, and whilst in gameplay terms they’re pretty much the same, there’s nothing really like driving a Jeepy thing through a load of US Marines in the Middle East/China…

Also, I wanted to get Forgotten Hope 2 (Awesome mod for BF2) and PR (Another awesome mod), but no BF2 – No mods.

Idag är det första maj, och egentligen var det meningen att jag skulle varit med på 1 maj tåget här i Lidköping, men tyvärr sket det sig eftersom, jag blev förbannad över en sak så jag tappade humöret och stannade hemma istället… Och bara för det så sitter jag redan vid fyra på dagen och är full *suck*

Älsklingen tyckte själv att det var viktigare att gå i tåget än att stanna hos mig och se till att jag mår bra… men va fan, inte bryr jag mig om det… Han får göra vad fan han vill, för det gör han ju ändå oavsett om han sårar någon på köpet eller inte… Men nu ska vi inte gå mer in på det…

Det är vackert väder idag och jag har registrerat mig på clan base och är redo att joina SEF clanen i CoD4 för er som inte fattar ett skit om vad jag snackar om, ta och googla, men för er som faktiskt förstår vad jag pratar om… GRATTIS!!! Om ni själva spelar CoD4 online genom PC så kan ni ju hålla utsikt efter SEF|Lu[N]a när ni spelar för då är det jag… dock så suger jag än så länge på CoD4 (vilket jag inte förstår varför eftersom jag klarade mig väldigt bra i BF2 “Battlefield 2″ men nu i CoD4 så dör jag ju hela tiden XD förstår inte varför det är så stor skillnad… vet inte om det är mer crowded i cod4 än i bf2 men av någon konstig anledning så känns det krångligare i cod4… någon som kanske kan förklara detta för mig? ) och snälla kom inte med tykna snorkiga kommentarer, snälla var seriösa, vi är alla nybörjare från början… och jag råkar vara nybörjare på just cod 4… bf2 är nästan som handsken för min hand, men bara nästan… i bf2 så är jag dock inte med i någon clan där är jag en freebird… fråga mig inte varför jag helt plötsligt börja blanda in engelska ord XD men summan av summarum eller vad sjutton det heter så älskar jag att spela spel, vilket leder in mig på att jag äntligen har köpt mig MGS4 som jag längtat efter att köpa men som dock vart för dyr för min plånbok, men nu hade jag råd med den å har börjat spela lite, å hittills så tycker jag att det är fan kul… har spelat 2 och 3:an innan och sett på när en annan spelade ettan så jag har skapat nån slags kärlek för MGS serien… dock var 2:an konstig, hatade, jag HATADE Raiden (ni som spelat MGS2 känner jag på mig har nog de flesta samma känslor som mig för Raiden) han är så löjlig, mesig och bara då stupid… men jag lyckades ändå bita mig igenom den Titanic liknande kärlekshistorien mellan Jack och Rose i MGS2 och det kändes bara såååå skönt… sen tog man sig an MGS3 som däremot var en otroligt rolig spelupplevelse, man fick springa runt där i jungeln bland aligatorer och ormar, med den alldeles förträffligt härliga karaktären snake… Och man fick följa med i historien och fick veta hur det hela började, någonstans på 30-talet? rätta mig om jag har fel, men det var ett tag sedan jag spelade 3:an så minnet kan svika mig lite… Men det spelet var både vackert, spännande och underhållande… MGS 4 har jag inte så mycket att berätta om ännu, men det spelet återkommer jag till när jag kommit längre in eller rent sagt kört igenom det då ska jag recensera det…

Ha det gött alla glada å sura å spel nördar!

Everyone’s saying how Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and the fifth instalment World at War is one of the most played multiplayer games across all 3 major platforms, and the Wii isn’t one of them mind you.

I logged into COD 4 earlier and there were 17 000 servers online.

But you would be amazed if I told you how many servers are still up and running for a 2005 game.

The last time I logged into the network for Battlefield 2 was last night, and there were 585 servers, occupied or not. At least there’re servers, not like some pathetic game called Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to play the game. In fact I had been trying to join a server, any server, for the past two days but to no avail.

I already sensed something was not quite right when I replaced the Fifa 09 CD with the BF2 one. Instead of the usual menu that would pop up I was instead asked to choose a language.

That window only appears when you’re installing the game.

But BF2 has been on my computer for the past four years! Why should I be installing something that has already been installed? Did you get the Changeling reference by the way.

Ok never mind. Maybe the computer was screwing up once. So I closed the menu and launched the game from the programs menu.

Everything was fine, so far. The EA announcement, the intro movie, the log-in screen.

Then I double-clicked on a EA Thailand server because of its low ping.

BF2 >> Unable to connect due to network error.

Alright then, let’s try another server.

Click click.

Mountains and flowers.

My game had crashed back to the desktop.

At this point I must tell you all that I’ve been playing BF2 on this rig for 3 years now without any problems.

Suddenly my game crashes to the desktop?

I didn’t believe it, so I tried again.

This time I saw a baby’s face – my wallpapers are on a cycle.

There was no way I was going to be able to play the game.

So I tried uninstalling.

The usual procedure would be to go the program menu and click on ‘Uninstall’ right?

BF2 >> Are you sure you want to remove BF2 and all of its contents?

I don’t know what’s wrong with you, but you definitely need to see the doc.

Nothing happened. No window, no error message. Nothing.

It’s like the game ran away.

BF2 >> No I don’t want an injection!

Now it’s getting really weird. First you don’t let me play, now you won’t let me remove you. So you just want to idle around on my computer and do nothing?

So I looked up online and found out that there’s a number of players around the world who have the same uninstaller problem. And somehow EA had added instructions on removing the game manually from the computer, meaning that this was a widespread problem. So I followed the instructions and removed the game’s folder and it’s registry.

But Battlefield 2 still showed up on my desktop, on my list of recently used programs and in my programs list. I have no idea what’s going on now.

Anyhow it signals the end of a successful era of multiplayer gaming on the PC. I’ve never played any other shooter which requires so much team-work; the different classes and respective roles really force players to interact with and help one another. While healing players and reuspplying ammo are mainly to rack up the points, it still injects more life into the game rather than just shoot the whole time. Yes, COD 4’s multiplayer is intense but it is nothing more than a frag fest. In BF2, there’re so many other ways you can play the game and you can never get bored. Want to be Jesus? Then keep throwing those medic packs and make sure your shock paddles are always ready. Want to be a lunatic? Then strap on a couple of C4 charges on a FAV and ram into that tank. You choose what kind of soldier you want to be, just make sure you don’t leave the battlefield and your men behind.

This year will see the release of two new Battlefield games – Battlefield 1943 which is a remake of the original BF1942 available for download for the consoles ( PC version is still undecided ) and the sequel to Bad Company. There are also rumours that DICE might be making a new Battlefield game for the PC and given the leaked details of Battlefield 3 two years ago, we PC fans could have something to cheer about!

In the meantime, that’s one less game on my PC and I still can’t get over the fact that I only had a few hundred more points to get promoted to the next rank.

I May Be Young, But I’m Not Poor.

On Valentine’s Day, a group of six friends and myself went to the Loof at Odeon Towers for a drink after dinner. Someone in the group recommended the place because it was open-air and had a view of the City Hall area.

Out of the seven of us, four were relatively new to drinking, so they couldn’t possibly finish a glass of alcholic beverage by themselves. Thus we ordered a few different mixes to share in case they had a low alcohol tolerance or any allergic reactions.

Now the waiter who served us certainly had an attitude problem. I don’t know what’s wrong with being teenagers – we’re all well-behaved and properly dressed, yet this waiter treated us as though we were a group of beggars who had walked into his bar. Did he have a deprived youth life? Maybe he was jealous of the shirt my friend was wearing, or the phone I was using, or the girls we were with.

Let’s give this waiter a name because I don’t want to keep typing the word ‘waiter’.

Smuggy it is.

We ordered three drinks at first. Smuggy was fine initially but when he saw the glasses being passed among us, his attitude instantly changed. Being a cynic myself, there was no way I could miss the sarcasm in his tone when he talked to us.

I must also add that he had brought the bill along with the drinks. I’ve been to bars around the world and have never been forced to pay before I could even drink. Have I gone to a vending machine instead? I also don’t see the Japanese folks at the next table having to pay for their drinks either, or another group of guys further down.

Smuggy >> So will you all be paying by cash or credit?

Then my friend decided to order another two or three drinks. There was this moment of silence from Smuggy and his look easily told me what he was thinking.

Smuggy >> What the fuck who do you all think you are ordering so many drinks.

Smuggy finally spoke.

Smuggy >> Wa so you all going to whack the first seven is it?

Translation: Wa you all order so many can pay or not?

I already wanted a drink for myself, so to show that we’re not cheapskates as they had thought, I ordered a Pear martini.

The drinks came, and so did the bill again.

Smuggy >> That will be a hundred and two ( forgot the cents ).

Because we don’t carry credit cards, everyone dug into their wallets to get the notes. To save the troube, I gave Smuggy my POSB card.

Smuggy must have thought it was a credit card because it took him 3 seconds to return me the card.

Smuggy >> Sorry we don’t accept POSB.

Very funny. NETS not accepted? Smuggy must have thought that we did not have enough cash to pay, then he could use this opportunity to embarrass us in front of everyone else at the bar.

Too bad for Smuggy we had enough, and they were all notes mind you – no funny business with coins.

My martini had a cinammon stick and I was so tempted to stuff it up Smuggy’s nostril, to stop him from inhaling hot air into his head.

I don’t understand why we deserved that kind of treatment we had on Saturday night. Firstly we weren’t underaged, so it means we were not unwelcome at the bar. Secondly, we were the customers and having worked in the service line for more than 2 months, I know Smuggy has forgotten the one golden rule – treat everyone equally. Unfortunately at Loof it seems that the foreigners are more equal than others.

Times have changed and more youngsters are hanging out at chill-out bars. Whether they behave appropirately or not is another story – but F&B operators should realise that we like all customers are sources of income to them and should give us equal respect. There’s certainly no need to treat us differently unless our actions suggest so. I don’t see why a damn ang moh has to be treated like a king while I feel like I were his dog. Or the need to view us as not being able to pay up – honestly speaking those Caucasians are most notorious for avoiding payment yet they are still pampered with extraordinary customer service.

Sometimes Singaporeans are just so blind and stupid.

Well goodbye to Loof; thanks to Smuggy I’m pretty sure I won’t return there unless it is for some unfinished business with the cinammon stick.

Battlefield 1943, shown off at the New York Comic Con, is the newest addition to the Battlefield series. Taking place in World War 2, Battlefield 1943 gives the player three maps to enjoy with 24 players, a small, but surprisingly action-packed 12 versus 12 battle for survival. Players can choose to play as either a soldier of the U.S. Marines or a soldier of the Japanese Imperial Army.

In previous installments to the Battlefield series, players could choose from up to four different classes, but in 1943, players have the choice of up to three different classes, or kits. The first class, Riflemen, is best known for its mid-range weapons and abilities. The second class, Infantry, caters to the short-range, more run-and-gun type player. Using short-range weapons, Infantry players can battle in close-quarters combat with the opposing players. The infantry load-out also includes anti-tank/vehicle weapons such as a Bazooka to take down the pesky vehicles. The third and final class in Battlefield 1943 is for the long-range sniper oriented player. Named Scout, it includes Sniper Rifles and other various long-range weapons. Scouts also are equipped with demolition weapons, but it is unexplained as to which exact weapons these will be.

Battlefield 1943 will include one game mode titled Conquest. Originating from its former Battlefield counterparts, 1943 utilizes the flag-capture mode to gain territory and spawn points closer to the enemy. The game indicates which flag is the players by the color blue, and indicates the enemies’ flag by the color red. Unlike Battlefield Bad Company where “Double Assault” mode in which players could capture all the flags was used, 1943 features “Head-On Assault”, where each team has a locked base which cannot be captured.

Many changes have been made from Battlefield 1942 to Battlefield 1943, including the addition of parachutes. Bridges can also be blown-out, meaning you can blow up bridges to stop an oncoming enemy, but they can also find another route around to the other side. Also, Gordon Van Dyke of DICE Studios states “If you have played Battlefield 1942, you will recognize the maps included in the game, but also notice the many changes that have happened to them over the time between the two games.” Battlefield 1943 will also introduce a new form of game play, unlimited ammo and rechargeable health means no medics or support classes needed giving a reason for only being three classes in the game (stated above). The game will not feature any unlocks meaning that every player will have every weapon unlocked for them at the beginning of the game.

The mini-map, included in all previous installments of the Battlefield series did not appear in the pre-alpha build shown off at the NYCC, but is said to be added into the game by the time of its release. The spawn-in map shown at the beginning of the game is where the player can pick his or her class and choose a place to spawn in (represented by a flag). There are two systems for choosing a spawn-point, one named “Front-Lines System” in which the game automatically spawns the character in the middle of the action, while there is the “Regular Choice Spawn” in which players can choose where they spawn.

Battlefield 1943 will feature the Frostbite Engine used by EA and DICE for Battlefield Bad Company, and will be released as a download-only game on Playstation Network (PSN), Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA), and the PC.

The latest edition to the popular Battlefield series by EA is Battlefield 1943. Starting off 1 year after the first Battlefield game, Battlefield 1942, players are yet again sent to fight in some of the most famous World War 2 sites, including Iwo Jima, Wake Island, and Guadalcanal. DICE is hard at work on the upcoming sequel to one of the most popular games in the series, and is planning for the game to be download-based. Battlefield 1943 has no confirmed release dates, but one can only hope that it will be released later this year or early next year.

Like many social networking sites (AKA MySpace, Facebook), Home gives millions of Playstation 3 owners the ability to interact with others. What makes Home so special is its look and feel, with avatars and public spaces to move around in.

Unveiled at the 2007 Game Developers Conference, Home swept the internet with speed. Intriguing many Playstation owners, players began to generate ideas of how developers could stretch the game to expand the playability and enhance the feeling of the service. Ideas such as different areas, custom homes with custom furniture, and in-game games all came to life.

Many developers have been tracking the progress of Home, working on ideas to expand the game. One developer named Electronic Arts (EA), creator of the Battlefield Series, announced its new Playstation area to be released soon named the EA Sports Complex.

EA Sports Complex will feature banners advertising the titles the company has announced, and a variety of games for users to play while in the space. EA is adding a Poker table for multiplayer Poker, and a new arcade-style 3D racing game named Formula 1 Racer. In Formula 1 players can race each other around a virtual track and compete in matchups.

Now you may be saying that Battlefield Heroes has nothing to do with EA Sports. EA has already shown what they can create, and with the ability to create, comes the ability to expand. Battlefield Heroes, being a very highly-anticipated free-to-play game, can make sales for EA, not through charging playtime, but through advertisements for the upcoming and newly-released games.

“Online gaming garners a massive audience,” said Gerhard Florin, EVP Publishing Americas-Europe at EA. “People want to play games in new ways, with easier access that is quick to the fun. With Battlefield Heroes, EA brings its first major franchise to North America and Europe with a new distribution model and pricing structure adapted to the evolving way that people play.”

Battlefield Heroes is a brand new game from the team behind Battlefield 1942™ and Battlefield 2™. It’s fun cartoon-style graphics and gameplay caters to players of all skill levels. It is easy to pick up and play but with robust character customization and a deep online meta-game, gamers can spend hours building up their characters and conquering the world.

“We put a different twist on this Battlefield game going with the cartoon-style graphics and gameplay,” added Ben Cousins, Senior Producer at EA DICE. “There’s something here for all types of players — be it our core Battlefield fans or casual gamers. With the new online model, we will continually add new content to keep the game fresh and keep players engaged, while integrating player feedback in real time. How likely is it for Battlefield Heroes to show up on Home? Well, if EA keeps up the current pace with its Home expansions and ideas, it is very likely.
