Battlefield 1943, shown off at the New York Comic Con, is the newest addition to the Battlefield series. Taking place in World War 2, Battlefield 1943 gives the player three maps to enjoy with 24 players, a small, but surprisingly action-packed 12 versus 12 battle for survival. Players can choose to play as either a soldier of the U.S. Marines or a soldier of the Japanese Imperial Army.

In previous installments to the Battlefield series, players could choose from up to four different classes, but in 1943, players have the choice of up to three different classes, or kits. The first class, Riflemen, is best known for its mid-range weapons and abilities. The second class, Infantry, caters to the short-range, more run-and-gun type player. Using short-range weapons, Infantry players can battle in close-quarters combat with the opposing players. The infantry load-out also includes anti-tank/vehicle weapons such as a Bazooka to take down the pesky vehicles. The third and final class in Battlefield 1943 is for the long-range sniper oriented player. Named Scout, it includes Sniper Rifles and other various long-range weapons. Scouts also are equipped with demolition weapons, but it is unexplained as to which exact weapons these will be.

Battlefield 1943 will include one game mode titled Conquest. Originating from its former Battlefield counterparts, 1943 utilizes the flag-capture mode to gain territory and spawn points closer to the enemy. The game indicates which flag is the players by the color blue, and indicates the enemies’ flag by the color red. Unlike Battlefield Bad Company where “Double Assault” mode in which players could capture all the flags was used, 1943 features “Head-On Assault”, where each team has a locked base which cannot be captured.

Many changes have been made from Battlefield 1942 to Battlefield 1943, including the addition of parachutes. Bridges can also be blown-out, meaning you can blow up bridges to stop an oncoming enemy, but they can also find another route around to the other side. Also, Gordon Van Dyke of DICE Studios states “If you have played Battlefield 1942, you will recognize the maps included in the game, but also notice the many changes that have happened to them over the time between the two games.” Battlefield 1943 will also introduce a new form of game play, unlimited ammo and rechargeable health means no medics or support classes needed giving a reason for only being three classes in the game (stated above). The game will not feature any unlocks meaning that every player will have every weapon unlocked for them at the beginning of the game.

The mini-map, included in all previous installments of the Battlefield series did not appear in the pre-alpha build shown off at the NYCC, but is said to be added into the game by the time of its release. The spawn-in map shown at the beginning of the game is where the player can pick his or her class and choose a place to spawn in (represented by a flag). There are two systems for choosing a spawn-point, one named “Front-Lines System” in which the game automatically spawns the character in the middle of the action, while there is the “Regular Choice Spawn” in which players can choose where they spawn.

Battlefield 1943 will feature the Frostbite Engine used by EA and DICE for Battlefield Bad Company, and will be released as a download-only game on Playstation Network (PSN), Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA), and the PC.

The latest edition to the popular Battlefield series by EA is Battlefield 1943. Starting off 1 year after the first Battlefield game, Battlefield 1942, players are yet again sent to fight in some of the most famous World War 2 sites, including Iwo Jima, Wake Island, and Guadalcanal. DICE is hard at work on the upcoming sequel to one of the most popular games in the series, and is planning for the game to be download-based. Battlefield 1943 has no confirmed release dates, but one can only hope that it will be released later this year or early next year.

Like many social networking sites (AKA MySpace, Facebook), Home gives millions of Playstation 3 owners the ability to interact with others. What makes Home so special is its look and feel, with avatars and public spaces to move around in.

Unveiled at the 2007 Game Developers Conference, Home swept the internet with speed. Intriguing many Playstation owners, players began to generate ideas of how developers could stretch the game to expand the playability and enhance the feeling of the service. Ideas such as different areas, custom homes with custom furniture, and in-game games all came to life.

Many developers have been tracking the progress of Home, working on ideas to expand the game. One developer named Electronic Arts (EA), creator of the Battlefield Series, announced its new Playstation area to be released soon named the EA Sports Complex.

EA Sports Complex will feature banners advertising the titles the company has announced, and a variety of games for users to play while in the space. EA is adding a Poker table for multiplayer Poker, and a new arcade-style 3D racing game named Formula 1 Racer. In Formula 1 players can race each other around a virtual track and compete in matchups.

Now you may be saying that Battlefield Heroes has nothing to do with EA Sports. EA has already shown what they can create, and with the ability to create, comes the ability to expand. Battlefield Heroes, being a very highly-anticipated free-to-play game, can make sales for EA, not through charging playtime, but through advertisements for the upcoming and newly-released games.

“Online gaming garners a massive audience,” said Gerhard Florin, EVP Publishing Americas-Europe at EA. “People want to play games in new ways, with easier access that is quick to the fun. With Battlefield Heroes, EA brings its first major franchise to North America and Europe with a new distribution model and pricing structure adapted to the evolving way that people play.”

Well, its been a busy week. Tomorrow is the official release of the new EA Battlefield 2142 game. Some already have to DVD version but the mass sales for the USA is scheduled for tomorrow with the sales in the UK being released sometime in the early morning of the 20th.

On top of these releases, there is also a patch for the DVD version. You can download the patch using the EAD or from the EA Games FTP server. They are also slowly showing up on the major gaming sites. With this patch, they have the stand-alone non-ranked server files also available. The download from EA has both the Windows and Linux server files zipped up together. This created one large 180MB file to download. The individual server files are Windows 85MB and Linux 88MB. I did find the individual files over at 3D Gamers and I also uploaded the files to my FileCloud premium account for download to everyone.

The patch will not be needed for those that purchased BF2142 straight from EA using the EAD as that download is already suppose to be patched and ready to install.

So far the reviews for the final release have been very good. Those that played the demo where amazed with how much the final changes the overall game play on the ranked servers. With the demo, the soldiers were limited to only the basic weapons with no awards or rank ups. In the retail version, all of the weapon unlocks are available along with rank ups and awards. This expands the game from a very strict level of play with 4 limited soldier classes to a 4 soldier classes with a large array of unlocks and upgrades the action is greatly enhanced.

I logged into my EAD and the “Countdown to Release” is at 22:12:00 and counting down. So what to do until then, off to play some more of the BF2142 demo.

Programming

Well i’m thinking the program me and my friend were working on is in the process of collapsing, but hey it aint all that bad. We got stuck on a save feature so now where going back to trying our own seperate programs. it was good for practice though.
BF2142

The demo has been released (YES!) and i personally think its just great. I mean the new titan mode is awesome, the vehicles seem to do there job (altohugh they DID dumb down the helicopter). The weapons seem pretty good for default and overall it’s jsut fun to play.

N. Korea

I know NEWS stuff WTF?, anway, Nnorth Korea have done radioactive tests and all this crap. Well as soon as they do somthing stupid they are going to just get fully owned. I mean for a country that still think they won world war 2, they don’t show it. They won’t act it either.

I have done this before several years ago for another site and also posting info for my teams that I have played with. I am a news hound and am always reading about what is happening on the internet with things I am interested in, thus this is also why I started this blog.

As I was set to report a story from another site, I remembered why I moved from a news poster to a server admin in the past, its my lack of creativity. But alas, several years have passed since the last time I tried to do this and I have become use to posting my thoughts and relating ideas to others. Hopefully I can pass on the news to the users in a way that will be of interest to them.

Last night was not the best night for me to start this though. I was busy all day and had not been on the internet all day. I fired up the computer to open my EA Downloader (EAD) to start the pre-load to the retail version of BF2142. Once this started downloading, I checked my email and seen a message from Simon Moon, the FeverGaming.com Founder. I answered the email and was put to work shortly after reading some rules and guidelines for FeverGaming.com. This is when the fun started.

I had not had anything to eat for about eight hours and my stomach was growling like mad. I had just started reading the article that I was to report on and I could not concentrate. I took a break to make something to eat and sat down in front of the TV. Ah man…tonight was the UFC fight between Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz. I had wanted to watch this and after that was the Spike TV “Screem Awards 2006″.  So here I am, stuffing my face with the fights going on and Simon was on ICQ waiting for me to post my first news post.

OK. I turned on the tape recorder and sat back down at the computer. I re-read the interview and then looked at some past news posts on the site to see how they have done the posts in the past. I layout my post in notepad and then post it in the team area of the forums for Simon to preview. Oops, formatting error. Well, mainly cause the vBulletin forum software does most of the formatting to URL links automatically. I make the quick changes and update the post, at which time it is approved for news posting on the site. I make the post and then watch the rest of the UFC fights and get there just in time to see Ortiz beat Shamrock again.

So here I am, at the computer again several hours later and I think posting news on the site will be fun. I just search out the news specific to BF2142 and report about it. That is just a small additional thing from my normal posts in the forums and hopefully will contribute to the sites popularity.

Today I logged into the bf2142.com site and was notifed that I had a PM. Of course I have all of the security features set in FireFox, so the popup did not show. I went to my message control panel and there it was, “Congratulations Cigar_Man, you have won a free copy of Battlefield 2142″. I opened the PM and followed the info in it and I now have the game awaiting pre-load in my EA Downloader (EAD).

I also read that there is hopes to have the demo completed this Friday (tomorrow) but we will have to wait and see since “official” release dates often slip and so will the unofficial dates.

BF2142 can be pre-ordered using the EA Downloader now. You also get the demo released 24 hours before anyone else, but you have to pay full retail at $49.99. I have seen some sites with the purchase price of $29.99, but you have to wait for the disc to be delivered, whereas with the EAD you get a pre-load so it is ready to install upon official release.

I cannot post a lot of info about the beta tuning because of the NDA, but I can say that what we had to play was not ready for realtime. There is a lot of work still to be done and hopefully EA/Dice will do better than they have with BF2.
