(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia arrive en tête des marques européennes ayant le plus de valeur devant le français LVMH et le brasseur belge Inbev, selon une étude rendue publique mardi par l’European Brand Institute.

L’enquête ‘eurobrand2009′ consacre le fabricant finlandais de téléphones portables, avec une marque valorisée à quelque 35,2 milliards de dollars, devant LVMH et une estimation de 32,3 milliards d’euros.

L’European Brand Institute explique que les marques de biens de consommation sont les gagnantes de la crise, Inbev ayant ainsi vu la valeur de sa marque grimper de 56% grâce à l’acquisition réussie de la marque américaine Budweiser.

Les marques Vodafone (téléphonie mobile, 23,8 milliards d’euros), Unilever (grande consommation, 22,8 milliards) et Telefonica (télécommunications, 22,1 milliards) prennent respectivement les quatrième, cinquième et sixième places du classement.

Pouah… Etre chômeur c’est dur ! Faut se lever tard… Ben oui, levé aujourd’hui à 9h un peu dans le gaz, puis ensuite douche et vient le temps du petit-déjeuner. J’allume la télévision. Je zappe quelques chaînes puis j’arrive finalement à BFM TV, où les journalistes parlaient de l’imminence de la nomination du Prix Nobel de la Paix de cette année. Parmi la bonne centaine de candidats, les (légèrement) favoris étaient Morgan Tsvangirai (opposant zimbabwéen), Denis Mukwege (un médecin congolais qui accueille dans son hôpital des femmes violées et les aide à reconstruire leur vie) ou encore l’un des favoris de l’année dernière : le dissident chinois Hu-Jia. La chaîne parlait également du président français Nicolas Sarkozy (ça m’a fait rire sur le coup), la franco-colombienne Ingrid Bétancourt et de Helmut Kohl (ancien chancelier allemand des années 80-90).

Bon, après ce zappage rapide, je m’en vais chez un ami faire de la musculation. Faut entretenir son corps, baby… Une heure et demie plus tard, je rentre chez moi, j’allume mon PC et lance Firefox qui m’affiche ma page iGoogle (j’ai jamais accroché à Netvibes) et LA, je vois en premier article sur lemonde.fr : Barack Obama Prix Nobel de la Paix. Alors là, pour une surprise, c’est une surprise… Ce matin, j’apprenais que le Prix Nobel de la Paix allait être décerné, et je savais encore moins que Barack Obama était parmi les prétendants ! BFM TV n’en a d’ailleurs pas parlé, si mes souvenirs sont bons.

Je m’empresse de cliquer sur le lien, et je vois les raisons du choix du jury : “Le prix Nobel de la paix 2009 a été attribué, vendredi 9 octobre au président américain Barack Obama, “pour ses efforts extraordinaires en faveur du renforcement de la diplomatie et de la coopération internationales entre les peuples”". Bon d’accord, il essaie d’apaiser le conflit israélo-palestinien mais quand même ! Et j’ai lu aussi qu’il voulait un monde sans bombe nucléaire, alors qu’il détruise déjà la sienne… Je l’aime bien Barack Obama, mais je trouve que d’autres personnes méritaient plus que lui ce Prix Nobel.

Arriving at BU 8, Bandar Utama, I was wondering how does a radio station fit in this building. Clueless, I looked around for the satellite dishes but none were seen.

Before I lead you into the office, BFM 89.9 stands for Business FM, not a conventional radio station, being the one and only independent business oriented radio broadcast in Malaysia.  BFM was launched last September by Malek Ali for the working force aged between 25 – 40 years old.  More about the background on About BFM.

Looking at the target audience, the music played is along the line of Eric Clapton and The Beatles, adult-oriented rock genre, which is not covered by conventional radio station. After midnight, it will be playing mostly Malay songs with no announcer.

Currently, it is only broadcasted within Klang Valley and furthest to Malacca on FM 89.9. Reasoning, 42 % of the GDP is in Klang Valley. Aww, don’t be upset, you can access to the content via their podcast if you’re not within the area or missed the program. I love this podcast idea, you can listen to it anytime, anywhere with internet connection. No more missing out!

Well, together with Hanna and Nahda, and of course, our lovely lecturer, Miss Anita, we were welcomed by the Account Manager, Christopher as Annie, the producer has not arrive yet.

The people around were looking busy but still the hold up a smile when we pass by. The warm greeting were accompanied with a casual chat while waiting for Annie’s arrival at the pantry loaded with kuih raya . Christopher told us his story of life before getting into BFM as a steward in MAS Airline and joined from flying on air to working on behind the scene broadcasting on air for FLY.fm and eventually landed in BFM. Ironically, MAS is one of their client now.

The working area is divided but yet semi transparent, a lot of interaction going on, no point blocking them.

Soon, Annie walked in and quickly she took out a slide folder and explain to us about BFM, how they come about, people behind it, and what do they want to achieve.

Working in BFM isn’t a walk in the park for Annie, everyone here has to wear a few different hats due to limited man power. In other words, you learn a lot along the way as you can be the producer in the morning, switched to announcer after lunch and by evening, you’re editing – noise and volume level, the podcast to be uploaded online.

As an announcer, you need to know your interviewee and the background of the topic before the program starts. Usually, the ideal situation would be a month before and questions will be forwarded to the interviewee a week in advance. But, I believe that spontaneity is the best because the public want to know the real truth, not PR scripted answers.

The flagship program is The Breakfast Grille (6am to 10am). I’m thinking of chicken grilled with creamy mushroom sauce. Opps, not that kind of grilling but metaphorically put the interviewee (usually top officials, CEO in a company) on a pan and grill the truth out.

Something like Hard Talk on BBC but this is done on locally, much easier for us to relate to. To name some of the notable international corporate personalities that have been interviewed by BFM includes Sir Martin Sorrell and management authors such as Jack Trout, Al Ries and Robert Kiyosaki. Local corporate personalities interviewed include Tony Fernandes (CEO of AirAsia), Idris Jala (former CEO of Malaysia Airlines) and Johan Dennelind (CEO of Digi Telecommunications).

Annie strongly believe that any interview should be out to the public as it is, “We don’t edit the content.”

• Career Docs – Listeners can write in to ask about their career and job seekers. BFM will research and give business perspective advice on it.
• Personal Finance – a 4 minute segment that suggest where you should save your money or how to get out of credit card debts.
• 5 STAR lifestyles – Recommendation on where to eat, or hang out, the glamorous way.

Yes, it has been a long day for him editing the sound, erasing noise and dealing with any sound related problem.

The ever empty sales department, which means, they’re out and about generating revenues for the station. Good!      

As for advertisers, BFM sells sponsorship. They match air time with a campaign but the advertisers NEVER dictate the editorial. They keep a very strict policy as “WE represent the listeners, they can’t stop us from asking questionable matters,” Annie enforced.

But there was once in history, a content was removed due to the company pleaded. It was an interview about the company treated the staff badly. Over 600 comments were received on the podcast, deprived employees and raging listeners complained and give their opinions on it over the website.

BFM’s point is, the lesson is learned, make the best of it and work on a better future.

It was an interesting trip to the warm filled independent one and only business radio station. I’d love to join them for internship as being a host has always been my dream and I do enjoy grilling interviewing people. But my 0% knowledge on business is my set back. For you guys who are interested, they’re looking for radio presenter.

Ce matin, sur BFM et RMC, l’un des courageux hommes politiques de gauche passés à droite en un clic sur leur profil carrière sur viadeo, j’ai nommé Eric Besson, Ministre des expulsions arbitraires et de la négation des droits de l’homme, nous a confirmé, que dans la continuité de l’œuvre profondément humaniste d’Hortefeux et selon le souhait de Nicolas 1er, il y a lieu d’expulser des migrants clandestins résidants en France, « sous réserve qu’un certain nombre de conditions soient remplies, que nous puissions être certains que les personnes soient en sécurité quand elles arrivent » et d’ajouter qu’il faut « la possibilité d’une aide à la réinstallation ».

Ainsi rappelle-t-il le souci de la France d’affirmer sa fermeté  vis-à-vis des passeurs (qui courent toujours, soit dit en passant) en « repassant » ceux qui ont tenté de passer… et dont on ignore, DONT ON NIE le passé, l’histoire. Besson, ce type de gauche passé à droite sans sourciller, celui-là même qui disait en 2007 que Sarkozy, en supprimant ou en restreignant fortement les principaux dispositifs de régularisation, se privait ainsi des outils permettant une régularisation « au fil de l’eau » en évitant les régularisations de masse… Celui-là, oui, qui expliquait qu’ainsi Sarkozy fabriquait des sans-papiers tout en prétendant lutter contre l’immigration clandestine.

Celui-là, aujourd’hui, serein dans sa médiocrité et dans ses convictions chiffrées de ministre à la botte, chie sur les droits de l’homme… en toute impunité.

La précipitation peut entrainer de bien mauvaises annonces... En une semaine, bourdes et lapsus s’accumulent sur le petit écran.

Après le lapsus commis par Claire Chazal le week end dernier (rappelons qu’elle avait confondu Carla avec Cécilia) puis celui d’un journaliste de BFM mercredi (qui avait annoncé en direct la mort de Rama Yade), c’est cette fois-ci France 2 qui semble touchée par ce fléau.

Catastrophe hier au 13h lorsqu‘ un reportage évoqua le cas du petit Enis, enlevé en 2007 et victime d’abus sexuels. Le journaliste a alors affirmé que le garçonnet avait été tué par son bourreau, Francis Evrard.

S’apercevant de la bourde, Sophie Le Saint (remplaçante d’Elise Lucet au 13h) s’est excusée en fin de journal et a rectifié les faits. Mais trop tard, le mal était déjà fait. Les proches du jeune garçon ainsi que le CSA n’ont pas l’attention d’en rester là…

I am going to test again.  I am not sure what to expect to be honest.  My boobs got EXTREAMLY sore today and they feel pretty heavy too.  In my mind I keep saying it’s ok if the faint line is gone – it’s ok if it didn’t work this time – you can try again next month…  But my heart is saying it’s +tive and tomorrow we will be expecting a little one in May.  I had a dream about taking the test…i took it and at first it had an error so i hit the reset button (it was a dream lol) and then it said it plain words (apparently it was digital) “yes, crystal, you are pregnant.”  No lie.  That is what it said.  I don’t know if dreams are premonitions or if it is my subconscious showing me what I want to see – but I will take whatever I can get.  So if you could please send us some positive vibes tomorrow – it’s shaping up to be one hell of a day…either way.

I had some last night…just barely there…but there.  I haven’t tested this morning so I don’t know if it is what I think it is…

**UPDATED TO ADD:  The spotting stopped today nothing so far just some cramps, no nausea, no sore boobs (maybe a little bit tender but hardly noticeable) …please oh please…let this be for real this time…

so I had a nervous break down yesterday.  I would like to say sorry and thank you for being there and helping support me…us….in the very crazy tww.  Jo came home last night and I was basically crying myself to sleep convinced that it didn’t work.  Even though I know it could be too early and AF hasn’t arrived.  This is why I named my blog fruit looped because there I times when I feel like every thing is upside down and I am a loon.  I tested again this morning with FMU and the faint line is still there but it was my last test…THANK GOD!  I am not going to buy anymore for a couple of  days (and they will be a different brand just in case it’s a bad lot)…I think it will be easier not having them in the house.  So for now…the line is still there albeit faint but there.

is a little easier to read but still so light I am not convinced so I have decided not to test again until Sunday morning.  That way when the test is for sure positive I can go Monday and get a beta done.  For now we are content with the term “maybe”.  If you are wondering about symps here they are:

• boobs got sore on Monday then went away now you could play basketball with them and I wouldn’t know the difference LOL!
• nausea had been the one most prominent.  I said before that this one couldn’t really count but for two days if I wake up in the middle of the night and roll over – I get a wave so strong that I have moved my scrap fabric garbage can to the side of my bed just in case.
• back pain - I have back issues already in my SI joint they have been doing great I was keeping up with exercises and all of the sudden its hurting way worse.. Not sure why could be unrelated but im throwing it in here anyway.
• hunger – not too much on this one but I have noticed that if I let myself get hungry I become like golem and start whispering “my precious” over my food LOL.  Sharing is not an option

So far that is it and some of this stuff could be just normal I might have turned wrong and my back hurts or I could have waited to long to eat, etc…  Not really sure what to think other than positive and calm “stay baby stay” thoughts.  August is the month I will get pregnant.  I WILL get pregnant in August.

France – Fausse disparition

“On a retrouvé la trace des disparus du Grand-Bornand” : la mère et ses deux enfants, dont l’ex-mari et père avait déclaré la “disparition inquiétante”, ont été formellement identifiés dans un camping du Var. Ceux qui s’étaient “volatilisés de leur maison” souhaitaient simplement prendre quelques jours de vacances, “couper avec tout”.

Ps : depuis que je suis rentré de vacances je suis sans nouvelle de mon directeur. Cette disparition m’inquiète, dois-je avertir le Medef ?

France toujours – L’algue tueuse

Le premier ministre a écourté précipitamment ses vacances pour se rendre sur les plages infestés par une algue verte, probablement à l’origine de la mort d’un cheval… Les journalistes n’ont pas manqué de préciser qu’il était bronzé. Qui ça ?, le cheval ?

Ps : le cavalier a survécu, et bien lui en a pris car s’il était décédé, sûr qu’on aurait interdit le cheval, les algues et les vacances. Principe de précaution oblige !

Si les prévisions d’attentats “électoraux” sont aussi précises que celles de la météo à cinq jours, on n’est pas surpris d’une telle désinformation.

Monde – Vie chère

La rédaction de BFM relaie les résultats d’une enquête suisse réalisée par la banque UBS sur le pouvoir d’achat de 73 villes du monde. Où l’on compare le temps de travail qu’il faut à Zurich, Paris et Nairobi pour se payer un “Big Mac”. BFM précise donc qu’il faut 12 minutes à un salarié zurichois, 20 minutes à un salarié parisien et 2h30 à un salarié de Nairobi pour se payer le fameux hamburger.

Ceux qui ne travaillent pas peuvent crever de faim, surtout à Nairobi.

Le journaliste de BFM a repris les données de l’enquête d’UBS sans apporter aucun éléments permettant d’apprécier une telle comparaison. Chacun appréciera donc la publicité faite au créateur et distributeur du Big Mac et continuera à s’interroger en silence sur la comparaison qui peut être faite entre les salaires des kenyans et ceux des parisiens ou des zurichois.

Ps : On aurait voulu nous faire comprendre que les français ne doivent pas se plaindre de la baisse de leur pouvoir d’achat qu’on ne s’y serait pas pris autrement !

Dear Friends,

July was just as action packed as the month of June! In last month’s letter I reported on the visiting mission team from Hiddenite, North Carolina. The week after they left I traveled north of Lima to preach a four day meeting for the Faith Baptist Church of Huaral. We had a great time preaching and teaching on the Exchanged Life in Jesus Christ. The following week I preached in the anniversary services of the Zion Baptist Church here in Huánuco. It was a true blessing to have been in both of these meetings. One week after the anniversary services I traveled to Peru’s capital city of Lima once again to meet our second summer mission team. This group was mainly from the Grace Baptist Church of Taylor, Michigan with three joining from the Storms Creek Baptist Church of Ironton, Ohio. It was the first time for the Grace Baptist Church to take on a summer mission project and they did an outstanding job. There were fourteen of them on the team and they not only worked hard and shared God’s love everywhere they went but they also laughed a lot while having a great time. They will be missed and we hope they will come back again sometime in the future. Like the first mission team they also helped the Grace Baptist Church of Huánuco build a security wall around the property. Digging ditches with picks and shovels and then filling the ditches with concrete and rocks was exhausting work but they really seemed to enjoy it! The traditional soccer match with Americans and Peruvians playing went as expected! I’m sure you can guess the outcome! On Wednesday night Pastor Matt Brooks brought a moving message at the Central Baptist Church here in Huánuco. I had the privilege of translating for him. After the work days we goodbye to Huánuco and began our journey to Cusco and Machu Picchu.

While in Cusco we visited the Berea Baptist Mission pastored by our Baptist Missionary friends Jason and Rebecca Reinhardt. Pastor Gary Harrah preached on Sunday morning with me translating. What a blessing the service was for all present! From there the team travelled by bus and train to Machu Picchu (which is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World). Machu Picchu is an amazing place and pictures just cannot describe the experience adequately. After arriving back in Cusco we flew back to Lima then began our trip on down the Pacific coast to the town of Paracas where the group was scheduled to travel eleven miles out into the ocean to the Ballesta Islands but the sea was choppy that day and the port authority would not allow any boats out. So we had a great seafood lunch and then continued on down the coast to the Huacachina oasis. This team, like the June team, had an incredible time sand surfing and dune buggy riding in the sand dunes that stretch for as far as the eye can see.

The next day our dear friends left Peru, heading back to Michigan. They made a wonderful impression and we hope the trip challenged and excited them to do even more for missions there at home. Hosting mission teams is exhausting work but also very, very rewarding for Anita and me. We certainly enjoyed having them with us and we hope they will come back. We thank the Lord for their love and concern for the dear saints of the Lord here in Peru.
