I love B/W. It inspired from Ansel Adam’s work when he still alive and lived at Yosemite National Park. Actually I want this scene as a color scene, but after I think a bit, I convert them into B/W with couple Photoshop manipulation. This scene is taken from my Office (B&G Tower) around 1 PM. Hey all, today we’re going to revisit Isle of Conquest guide, because my old guide was written the same week the BG came out, and I didn’t have as much info then as I do now. Let’s see what’s what now that I have a little more perspective.

As we should all know by now, IoC is won by defeating the opposing team’s general or running them totally out of resources. The latter method of winning is almost impossible and should never be attempted. If one were forced to attempt this by mysterious and unimaginable forces, I would suggest capping the oil refinery and quarry and trying to defend them, because they act like the mines do in Alterac Valley and award resources to whichever team controls them. These 2 nodes have a much more important function, and that is increasing the siege damage you do. Even if one is trying to win by the standard method of breaking down a wall and killing the general, I wouldn’t expend too much effort in capping these nodes. Checking to see if one of them is undefended and capping it over if it is would the most I would do. This isn’t to say they aren’t useful, it’s just that there’s more useful things you can do (see below).

The other 3 nodes all help you break down the opposing team’s wall more directly. The dock and workshop give you vehicles. The dock’s vehicles are much better, so you should try to cap the dock at all costs. If you fail to capture the dock, then wait till the other team captures it and suicide attack their glaive throwers until they have none left. Then try to recap the dock and use your glaives on their wall. Please don’t touch the glaive if you’ve never done it before, as you will drastically reduce your team’s chance of winning. Simply hop in a catapult and send yourself into the enemy keep and grab bombs from the pile to sabotage the keep’s defenses from the inside. If you think you can handle the glaive thrower, then get in one and start shooting down the west wall of whichever keep you’re trying to get into. Be aware that the glaives have huge range and you should take the time to position them in a place that is as far from the enemy keep as possible. You should also try and put your glaive in a place where it can’t be attacked by people who are hiding behind a hill or under a bridge and shooting through the terrain. The glaives have very low hp so all this effort is crucial to your success. Try to encourage your teammates to defend the glaives once you have them.

Now, the workshop is useless because the dock’s vehicles are way better, but how about the hangar? The fact is that by using the hangar to get your entire team into the enemy keep at the start of the fight, you can bring down a wall faster than you would using any other means. However, this requires a lot of coordination and so I wouldn’t bother with this strat unless you have an organized group. Also, controlling at least one of the 2 nodes that enhance your team’s siege damage would be useful if you really wanted to pull this off. Unless you are in a team that is group queuing this BG, I would never ever ever bother with the hangar, as it is a complete waste of time in a pug.

If you like to defend, then you can hop in the turrets that line the ramparts of each keep. Trying to kill these turrets is futile because any friendly player can make a turret respawn with full hp instantly simply by right-clicking it.

In a city, the winter is never romantic, except on a day when it has just snowed and nothing can move (which is almost never). Nevertheless, women have to look sleek, fashionable and sexy and still keep warm.

So what does a stylish woman wear? Well if she is climbing in a cab and out to a doorway, she doesn’t need a quilted down jacket able to withstand temps at –30F. She just needs a faux fur collar cardigan and some kickin’ boots. I show here an outfit from Kotobuki Jewell that I purchased last year. It came out of the winter closet with nary a wrinkle—the great design still works this year.

Check the clever use of the prims, the careful attention to carrying the sweater bottom to the system piece so when the prims move, you still seem like you are wearing a cardigan, the stylish line of the whole ensemble. It’s what a smart city lady wears so she looks dressed well but not uptight and overly tailored.

My hair flies free (despite some sort of haloing glitch in the Emerald viewer, among other grievous problems with said client). Truth Hawks is making the hair women in SL love—stylish but not overly styled, contemporary but not cutting edge, sexy but not contrived.

Boots from B&G complete the look. These are clearly photosourced but still well built and a great alternative to all the old standards. One great feature is that there just doesn’t appear to be a huge invisiprim on the boots, creating that embarrassing disappearing act on everything else around it.

Playing Ace King

Ace King, also called Big Slick or Anna Kournikova, is one of the most overrated hands in the history of no limit holdem. It’s exactly as the pityful sidename Anna Kournikova refers too: She looks good but doesn’t win alot. Playing Ace King is very hard. How in hells name do you play this hand? How in gods name can you make sure you always win Ace King?

AK ?! When you get it in a cash game or tournament of whatever it is you are playing, you get a little bit of goosebumps. Serious research has pointed out that most people go broke or die at a tournament because ofoverplaying Ace King, especially Ace King suited.

Before we go further with the analysis of AK, please hold in mind that not only with Ace King, but with all suited cards, against unsuited cards the increased winning percentage that comes with suited cards is only a percent!

Ok, so if most people loose more than they win with Ace King, and loose at especially crucial times, then what is it that they are doing wrong playing AK? First of all we are going to take a look at the potential of AK, after that we will follow up with how Ace King, in conclusion, actually should be played and how it should not be played.

AK is the best drawing hand. AK can beat EVERY HAND, it is only a big underdog against AA and KK.

The rest of the hands is either just as strong or slighty stronger or a lot worse than AK. Hence you would say, AK is one of the best hands. This is, mathmatically said, true. But it is one of the most complicated and tricky hands too. AK is no

favourite against 22. 33 is. But then again, it is not much more of an underdog against QQ, one of the strongest hand in NL Holdem.

How should one play this complicated hand then?

Ace King should be played with caution, but also with aggression. Being aggressive in poker is a good overall strategy anyhow, but especially when you hold AK. What are the chances that the people who pee me off in Bg’s read blogs?

So if your in Bloodlust - Yes you!  You might have pee’d me off at some point,  ( maybe I pee’d you off too)

If you tell people to give up.   If you go standing in a corner afk because “you have done your bit” and now you can’t be bothered. If you let the healer go get the flag, ( on her own)   and let her run it almost all the way back to the the tunnel ( still on her own)  in WSG all the while 9 other people are still fighting in the middle.  Make racist comments in chat because you think people fail.  Don’t wear Pvp gear and think it’s ok, and then complain why you die so fast. follow someone so no one notices that your Afk. Tell someone to drop the flag so you can pick it up in the middle of a group of horde players and then wonder why we lose it! Don’t cap lets honor farm them.  

^^ Yes that unsightly mess is intentional.  It’s all been said before,  nothing I will say or post will change peoples attitudes – I just needed to vent. 

I got to Bg with my friend from my old realm – (but same battlegroup ) last night,  in the same manner that the x realm premades are doing.  Entering next available at the same time, and checking to make sure we both got it. It was easy with two,  I wonder if it could be done with 3 or 4 people cross realms. 

He was a Pally  flag runner, and I was his healer.  It worked quite well  some of the time.  

I do think however  there needs to be a Bg add on that like a  ” Your standing in the fire” message  instead making it  ” Your fighting in the middle for longer then 30 secs” and a big MOVE!!!

One of the things that is drummed into people in these AV premades that I have been doing is the importance of being in the right place.  Not stopping to help people who chose to fight in the roads. ( Even Lol at them as we ride past)  They are distractions to keep us from the main objective.  The leaders voice is a constant reminder not to get stuck in tunnel vision.

I guess it’s easy to be caught in tunnel vision in a bg,   Rez jump off the cliff into the waiting horde. Die,  and do it all again.   As a healer your more likely to follow that crowd off the cliff because that’s where the people who need healing are, as a holy priest healer in a Bg the times I have gone off on my own breaking from this tunnel vision  I have failed to accomplish anything but another futile attempt at trying to get to their flag room without help. Appeals for people to get out of the middle, or for help fall on deaf ears. 

I have not forsaken my Shadow Spec, but I don’t seem to be putting out the damage in Bg’s as Shadow,  I am also chasing the 50k kill count achievement because it looks possible ( 8k left to go) and I am working on the theory that healers near the action get more Hk’s 

Also of note:  – I am guilded again,  only as a casual - I get to do my own thing – it works for me now, but I am feeling a little itchy at the idea of not having a raiding committment.  I am also blogging more – I guess that means I am happier – and or have more stuff to say..

Alterac Valley is a complex battleground, but it’s also been out for a long time so I’m not going to spend time going over the basics. There are two basic ways to win this BG, and I’ll go over them today.

The Rush:

People often do this at least once in their lives to get the achievement for winning AV in 6 minutes or less. The shortest I’ve seen was a 5 minute game. The strat is very straightforward: you just convince everyone on your team to rush for the general as fast as possible. Just make sure you bring a pair of competent tanks and healers with you, because there’s no guarantee you’ll find any useful pugs in the game you join. Unfortunately, winning AV this way makes for really bad honor. You might get 400-600, tops, whereas during AV weekend I’ve gotten 2600 or 2700 honor for a single game. I suppose if you are honor capped and just wanted AV tokens you could try doing this repeatedly, but I’m pretty sure either the pugs who were helping you would lose patience after awhile, or the opposing team might catch on and try to stop you, at which point it would be come almost impossible to recover once your force has been routed once. Without controlling any graveyards, you would probably be ported back to your base and be stuck in a turtle match.

The Stranglehold

If one really wanted to ensure victory and try to maximize honor in this BG, you could get a couple friends and go defend galv/balinda, and then recap everyone’s graveyard and tower in the wake of your opponents as they rushed down to your relief hut. With a dedicated group of 4 or 5, this isn’t hard to do at all. The downside of this method is that the game can turn into a turtle. Of course, if your team is on the ball and everyone who isn’t helping you is playing good offense, then the game may only take 15 mins or so. Just be patient, and once you’ve hamstrung the other team’s offense, go to whichever tower they still control that’s nearest to the field of strife, cap it, and guard it until it’s a flaming heap of stone. Then go to the next one down the line, and so on and so forth until the enemy is ~200 resources, at which point you can afford to try for the general.

Honestly, I’ve been feeling a little restless and unhinged lately.  Impulsive.  Irrational.  By lately, I mean for like the last month.  But today is different.  My morning can be summed up thusly: It finally feels like fall outside.  And I mean the kind of fall where the leaves are crunchy and and it’s chilly and I get coffee and walk home feeling hopeful and like I’m in a movie, which is the feeling I’ve been waiting for and waiting for that’s taken it’s dear sweet time getting here.  And then, I get home and the fall magic continues with a canceled class and babies dancing to Beyonce.  And finally, I made the best mixed CD known to man.  It involves “Can’t You See” by the Marshall Tucker Band, followed directly by “Rehab”, and then that song from Mulan.  No, not the weepy one by the pond; the kickass one about fires and typhoons and the dark side of the moon.  That one.  I made this CD with the express purpose of listening to it on the drive home for Thanksgiving, which is two weeks away, but it’s all I’ve been listening to this week anyway.  “American Pie” is on right now, and MAN I love that song.  One of my all-time favorite lines in any and all of music is when Don MacLean forcefully declares “I KNOW that you’re in love with him cause I saw you dancin in the gym”.  It always reminds me of high school and it always makes me kind of wistful.  Today is a really good day.  Finally.

Graduation May 2009, the long awaited day had finally come.  Gone were the days of sprint walking across the Ag quad to get to my classes, and gone were the days of making up excuses for my late assignments. Finally, I was going to be a full time aspiring entrepreneur.  I was going to run my own business…and I couldn’t wait.

On July 31st, I packed up all my belongings from 314 University Ave. and drove away from the gorges Ithaca. I was ready to start, Bernales & Goretti, a women’s eco-clothing line.  Constanza (friend and business partner), and I had it all planned, she would be in Peru and work on the production while I would start working on the business end in New York.  We were to launch B&G by September, a date was not determined we just knew sometime in September…so what happened?

We hit a minor bump, a bump that many entrepreneurs hit when starting their business.  We hit the financial wall, we had build good momentum, had a great concept, energy, enthusiasm, passion, a business plan…but just didn’t have all the necessary funding.  As the business end of B&G its my responsibility to ensure that we keep the momentum going, get sales, and build a brand.

So, how do we get sales, momentum and the business moving according to plan?   Like all other entrepreneurs, we will rely on the 3Fs – family, friends and fools, additionally we will apply for loans, grants, and self finance it ourselves. Although we didn’t launch as planned in September we are still moving, we will launch in 2010. In the meantime, Constanza will continue to juggle her various jobs in Peru, while simultaneously working on the brand, and I will venture into the job market.

We will see how it goes.
