GARBAGE, BLOC PARTY, MUMFORD & SONS, THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION & THE MACCABEES JOIN BILBAO BBK LIVE

The seventh edition of the Bilbao BBK Live continues to confirm excellent artists who accompany The Cure and Radiohead from 12 to 14 July in Kobetamendi.

This is a total of twelve additions to the lineup most notably that of Garbage. Formed in the mid 90′s by the Scottish vocalist Shirley Manson and American producers Butch Vig (produced the legendary ‘Nevermind’ by Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins multiple jobs), Steve Marker and Duke Erikson, have sold over 14 million copies worldwide. Hitmakers like ‘Stupid Girl’, ‘Only Happy When It Rains or’ I Think I’m Paranoid ‘, Garbage released 4 studio albums between 1995 and 2005. After an “indefinite hiatus” in which Manson premieres as a soloist and Vig reoccurs now return with their fifth studio, “Not Your Kind Of People ‘, which goes on sale next May 15.

Bloc Party, meanwhile, is considered one of the great names of British indie rock in recent times after signing some of the most notorious hits in recent years (‘Banquet’, ‘Helicopter’ Flux ‘and’ Hunting For Witches’, etc.). After a break of two years in which its components are dedicated to working on side projects, the band is now working on what will be their fourth studio album.

Other prominent names in this batch of confirmations are those of Mumford & Sons, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and The Maccabees.

Jon Spencer, Judah Bauer and Russell Simins formed in 1991 in New York that eventually was one of the best blues-rock formations of our time. Over 20 years later, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion has published over twenty labels reference counting studio work, rarities, bootlegs, EPs and singles and can boast one of the best live rock & roll today. On the other hand, Mumford & Sons are a part, alongside other artists such as Noah and The Whale, of what has been called “the folk scene in west London.” Following the success of his first album ‘Sigh No More’ (2009), are now working on her second album. Also from England come The Maccabees and those did not make him averse to the folk sound, but have also flirted with the indie-pop. His third and latest is called ‘Given To The Wild’.

Rounding out the list of additions musician Kieran Hebden London, under the name Four Tet, has more than a decade fusing hip-hop, electronica, techno, jazz and folk, the very young Ben Howard, one of the exponents of the new English folk, the locals Zea Mays, whose last tour is getting filled in every room of Euskadi, the synth hardcore Enter Shikari, who will present new album, the alternative rock band Young Guns, the U.S. Here We Go Magic-indie-rock and Pure Love, newly established band with former members of Gallows, Hope Conspiracy and Suicide File.

We would also like to remember that the seventh edition of the festival will stage a third-class performances. In total, about 60 artists scheduled (almost 20 more than in 2011) distributed in three stages and a tent. Coming back with more news about the Bilbao BBK Live 2012.

THE KOOKS, GLASVEGAS & WARPAINT JOIN THE LINE-UP!

Organisers have  announced that The Kooks, Glasvegas and Warpaint have all been added to the line-up of Bilbao BBK Live festival. The Kooks and Warpaint are scheduled to play on Friday the 13th July, the day Radiohead will be headlining. Glasvegas, on the other hand, will perform on Saturday the 14th.

The Kooks, a British four piece formed in Brighton in 2004, released their fourth album “Junk on the Heart” in September 2011. Their debut album from 2006 “Inside In/Inside Out” has sold over 2 million copies to date and has generated six Top 40 singles in the UK.

Hailing from Scotland, Glasvegas came together nine years ago in Glasgow and released their homonymous debut album in September 2008; surprisingly two months later they released their second album, a Christmas mini-album named “A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss)”. Last year they released their third album “Euphoric///Heartbreak”.

Lastly, the all girl quartet from Los Angeles Warpaint released their first LP “The Fool” in 2010. Having previously released and EP (‘Exquisite Corpse’, 2008), mixed and mastered by John Frusciante (ex-member of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers), their music has been described as experimental alt-rock.

Sadly our second announcement is that Klaxons has cancelled all their summer commitments, including Bilbao BBK Live festival, to concentrate in the recording of their new album. We wish them all the best and hope to see them soon in Bilbao!

But announcements don’t end here – This year Bilbao BBK Live will be launching a third major stage adding 20 more international bands to the line-up of the event.

Finally, the last bit of news for now is that Day Tickets for Thursday and Friday will go on sale on Friday the 10th Feb at £46 + booking fee each day. Day tickets for Saturday will be available soon after the announcement of the third headliner.

THE CURE LEADS A SERIES OF ADDITIONS TO BILBAO BBK LIVE 2012

The Cure will be, along with Radiohead, one of the headliners of the seventh edition of the Bilbao BBK Live.

The Cure-Robert Smith (vocals, guitar), Simon Gallup (bass), Jason Cooper (drums) and Roger O’Donnell (keyboards) – will focus this summer by the major European festivals with a very special show: more than two hours performance with a set of songs chosen from their 14 studio albums, including his epic themes album ‘Wish’, which marks 20 years this 2012.

In addition to The Cure, Corizonas, The Inspector Cluzo & The FB’s Horns, Tribes and Zoe will also be at the Bilbao BBK Live 2012.

Corizonas is a sum, but it seems a multiplication because what’s under the name that brings together musicians from Raising Arizona and The Coronas is a true celebration of country, folk and sounds border. So testify his album, ‘The News Today’, and its direct incendiary.

For its part, the French duo The Inspector Cluzo (& The FB’s Horns) returns to Bilbao BBK Live to present ‘The 2 Mousquetaires’, an album dedicated to the Gascons and his defense of tradition.  With just a street EP produced by Mike Crossley (Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks) Tribes caught the attention of Frank Black (Pixies), who personally invited to open for them in London. Camden quartet arrives in Bilbao with ‘Baby’, his first feature.

Finally, Zoe can be considered the fathers of Mexican indie rock. They shaping her style since 1997, but was with “Rockanlover” his second album, and name with which the band refers to their fans when they found their own sound. With obvious influences from bands like The Charlatans and Stone Roses

MORE ADDITIONS FOR BILBAO BBK LIVE 2012

Joining the already announced Radiohead at this year’s Bilbao BBK Live festival are Noah and the Whale, Klaxons, Snow Patrol, Band of Skulls and The Gift!

RADIOHEAD CONFIRM AN EXCLUSIVE SPANISH SHOW AT BBK LIVE 2012

The seventh edition of the festival will be held from 12 to 14 July in Kobetamendi and tickets will go on sale December 14th with three days camping costing €85 + postage, with discounts for customers and purchases BBK Kultura Bono

This is probably the band that has generated greater consensus among critics in the past two decades.  Their albums of the 90 outlined an entire generation of musicians back in the UK. From jazz musicians to rhythm & blues artists of electronic or hip-hop. 

Their albums of the past decade showed us a group restless, avant-garde, who rebelled against itself to continue to evolve, They have sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide and have released eight studio albums, some of them, like ‘OK Computer’ (1997) considered one of the best jobs in the recent history of rock.
