(In Memory of George Carlin, Requiescat In Pace) When George Carlin died last year, I was deeply sad

(In Memory of George Carlin, Requiescat In Pace)

When George Carlin died last year, I was deeply saddened. He was one of the Great Comedians I had listened to from my childhood onward. Indeed, I do not recall not knowing about Carlin, in the same way I do not recall not knowing how to read.

Anyway, the many obituaries and tributes that poured in paid homage to Carlin’s considerable talents, including his genius for skewering the human condition. And, of course, they all mentioned his legendary “Seven Dirty Words.” For a Black Baptist growing up in rural North Carolina, hearing these words was like discovering a lewd and truncated mirror image of the Ten Commandments. (I should point out that my extremely devout grandparents, who would have cringed at Carlin’s unabashed use of the “Seven Dirty Words,” nevertheless allowed me to listen endlessly to Redd Foxx’s incredibly raunchy comedy records–on Sunday, at that. Perhaps it had something to do with the way Black people tell stories. Hmmm. Methinks I have the subject for another post….)

Anyway, for some reason I felt inspired to write a little list of my own. I have no idea why I chose politics as my canvas. Perhaps the ghosts of Governor Eliot Spitzer’s recent resignation or the Monica Lewinsky scandal were clanging around in my head. Who knows? I humbly submit my “Seven Things You Can Never Say in Politics”:

“I will never raise your taxes.”

“Go ahead and follow me. I have nothing to hide.”

“S/he was just a staffer. I never knew her/him personally.”

“I welcome the opportunity to take my case before the American people.”

“I never accepted gifts of any kind from that individual.”

“I pledge to serve my full term.”

“I am looking forward to spending more time with my family.”

Looking again at my list, I no longer find it as amusing as I did when I created over a year ago. I guess you had to be there.

Do not worry, Mr. Carlin, wherever you are. I have no plans to give up my day job and try to do what you made look so easy for so many years. You, Sir, were the Michelangelo of Mirth.

[Expletive deleted.]

Say whatever about biases in America, they exist. This may be the land of the free, but it is clear

Say whatever about biases in America, they exist. This may be the land of the free, but it is clear that not everyone is treated equally. For starters, when it comes to politics, the media favors the Republican party. When it comes to race, anything black or looking like black is not favored.

That is the standard in America, anyone with common sense realizes that. But, how is it that the president of such a nation happens to be a black Democrat? The reason behind Barack Obama being elected to president was the worst economy in American history falling into the lap of a Republican president.

As a candidate, Barack Obama promised to give the people a much-needed Stimulus Package. Once he was elected president, he had hoped to get right into doing this. However, as he tried, Congress voted him down time and time again until most of the money was given to corporations. The media reported this and all that they showed were his failures, as opposed to his efforts.

This has been the story of Obama’s short presidency. Everything that he has tried to do has faced opposition from Congress. First, he is attacked by the Republicans, then he tries to compromise with them. When he tries that, he alienates his Democratic base. The media never seems to show all of that, instead, they look at what he has not done compared to what he has promised.

During the presidency of George W. Bush, he did whatever he wanted to and Congress went right along with him. The Democrats were bitter about the way that he won both elections, but they allowed the Republicans to run right over them. Now that they are in control, the Democrats are still allowing the Republicans to run right over them. It is funny how the media can always find a political scandal, but they never focus on any of this.

A few months ago, they “discovered” that the first lady, Michelle Obama, descended from slavery. But, somehow they have overlooked the efforts of her husband to try and fix the problems of the nation that the last administration left. They can point out every mistake that he made, while forgetting the good that he has accomplished, despite having no support from anyone.

With all of this negative being pointed out about President Obama, his approval rating is going down. Looking at the way things have improved in not even one year’s time, his ratings should still be very high. Ultimately, they are not. It is a shame that the media is more involved in getting a story than they are about what is right and what is wrong.

Their bias against the president, similar to their bias of Bill Clinton, has led to them drawing in high ratings. In a perfect world, the media would back off of President Obama and let him do his job. It is bad enough that he inherited such a mess, he does not need these meaningless distractions as he tries to fix things.

We of God’s Only Inerrant Party and The Online Discernmentalist do hereby award you, R. R., Redneck Republican, this honorary diploma of academic excellence and achievements in the online world of Redneck GOIP Republican Discernmentalism. Congratulations!

We will now recite your essay that you wrote for your graduation speech:

The Problem with Liberals

… Grade: A- for suggesting that Liebrals can actually go to heaven as they are of the unregenerate, reprobated, unsaved, non-Elect sinners.

Liberals are gullible. Liberals are being led around by the nose by the liberal media. Take global warming as an example. Liberals want to believe all of these liberal chicken-little scientists that the earth is warming. The reality is that we are just going through a little hot spell, and they are using that as a trick to have the government control our lives.

We of the OD Mafia and GOIP agree as the earth warming is a Sign of Jesus’ sure return and the Blessed Rapture. Praise God!

Liberals are naive. Remember when Saddam Hussein told the UN that he had no weapons of mass destruction? The liberals and the idiot United Nations wanted to do give Hussein the benefit of the doubt and do an inspection. Saddam Hussein was a liar and an evil man and we needed to take him out whether he had WMD or not. Believing anything other than that is naive.

Yes the UN is the Anti-Christ’s headquarters of a New World Order Of A One World Religious Government. Evil indeed—we heard from Brannon Howse that Saddam controlled the UN while he was alive.

Liberals are weak. One of the first things our idiot Communist president, Barry Obama, did was close down Guantanomo where we were torturing some of the most evil enemies of our great nation. Liberals are against torture because they are weak. For America to succeed in the war against terror, we must torture MORE not less. We should be opening up a chain of Guantanomo prisons throughout the world. Only then will the world realize how strong we are as a nation.

We know—Dr. Truthslayer warns that even preaching on gentleness leads to liebralism.—Don Jobson. How dare those liberal fools try to turn our Jesus (the True one) into Mister Rogers when we who are God’s True Elect know that He was like General Patton and General Douglas (John) McArthur.—Arthur McJohn.

Liberals are no fun. Liberals like to point at Abu Ghraib as American foreign policy gone bad. In fact, it is the opposite. During George W Bush’s term, America had the best foreign policy in the history of time. Actually, Final President Reagan had the greatest foreign policy of all time as it is the Pure Biblical Standard for all foreign policy for all time. The Bible clearly teaches this Absolute Truth. Insofar as Bush followed the political Gospel of Reaganism which the Bible teaches, he was okay in our book. However, George W. Bush is a closet socialist and a globalist. Abu Ghraib was just a few of the youngsters having a little fun at the expense of the evil Muslims. Liberals definitely need to lighten up a bit.

Amen!—only we Fundamentalists are fun as our system begins with the word fun, whereas liberalism begins with lie.—Arthur again.

Liberals are going to hell. This is a key and critical point. Not all liberals are going to hell, but a lot of them are. We are concerned with your wording here. The reason is that God is a Republican. God wants liberals to fail but he also gave humans free will because he wants all humanity to choose Republican. Here. The ramifications are dire because heaven is full of Republicans and HELL has a lot of Democrats. Liberals need to get their heart right with God. And here.

Actually all liberals and Demon-c-rats are going to hell as they were born unregenerate, reprobated, unsaved, non-Elect sinners and God chose them as vessels of Wrath and destruction from the foundation of the world. However, we True GOIP Republicans were born regenerate, predestined Elect, saved vessels of Glory according to God’s Absolutely Sovereignty. If you don’t like this Pure and Sound Bible teaching—suck it up, because this is the Pure Gospel. We thought your opening thesis was strong until you fell into the error of the man-centered Grace-hating man-loving romanist papist semi-Pelagian heresy of Arminianism. This is why we had no choice but to give you an A- for effort despite your critical, heretical and soul destroying error.

Liberals are bad with money. The reason that we are in the current economic crisis is 100% because of liberals. Of course, liberals are doing everything in their power to escape blame by blaming tons of innocent people. They want to blame the Fed for printing too much money. Then on top of that, they blame Bush for entering a costly war with no exit. Can you believe it? They think that Bush was not frugal. The reality is that liberals need to own up for creating this crisis so we can move on.

We agree—Capitalism is the Absolute Truth Biblical economic system.—Arthur McJohn.

Liberals hate our military. This one makes me a little perturbed. We owe our freedom and the best quality of life on the planet to our military. It is the ultimate in disrespect. This is also related to why liberals are so weak.

Yes war is God’s Divine Command to His Holy Elect. This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 1 Timothy 1:18 King James Bible AV1611

Liberals hate freedom. Liberals want all of us to be slaves to a Orwellian Big Brother government. The government tells us what to do, and we just nod our head like puppy dogs. Liberals are submissive, and conservatives love freedom.

Theocracy is the only True Freedom.

“A new heresy has been discovered,” he said. “We must stamp out this burst of hell-fire before it spreads over the surface of the earth…. Freedom of conscience is a doctrine of the devil…. Better to have a tyrant, however cruel, than permit everyone to do what he pleases.”

—John Calvin. Which is why we must triumph over Satan’s philosophy of liebralism.

Conclusion. There is more, but liberals should start working on improving themselves as people. It is not only important for themselves but for the nation as a whole. Rush Limbaugh (another one of the great ones) has it right. We are in a battle between good and evil. Right now, Satan is winning and the hateful racist non America Barry Obama is president. For America to succeed Obama must fail. We must unite as a nation again the evil that Obama represents. Liberals repent.

Checked and graded by: Don Jobson and Arthur McJohn, Online Discernmentalists and key GOIP Officials.

We’re very sorry for our “we-couldn’t-help-it” silence, and we’ve got just the thing to make you forget all about it. Or, to distract you at least for a while. This is a bunch of quotes knitted with what we think was either missed out on, or actually intended.

We’ve picked out a first batch of ten, and revamped them YakhneBatata-style. Feel free to use them, let us know which you think have more of a “BAM” impact!

1. Be nice to spoiled brats. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

Original quote: “Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.” (Bill Gates)

2. Be faithful to small things because it is in eating them that your strength lies.

3. A man will fight harder for his interests than for your rights.

Original quote: “A man will fight harder for his interests than for his rights.” (Napoleon Bonaparte)

4. A celebrated people lose sleep. A very celebrated people lose brain cells due to celebration beverages.

5. Opportunity is nothing without ability.

Original quote: “Ability is nothing without opportunity.” (Napoleon Bonaparte)

6. I am an extraordinary patient, provided I get my meds on time.

Original quote: “I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end.” (Margaret Thatcher)

7. I am a little keystroke under the tip of the finger of a writing drone who is sending a forwarded email to the world. (No, this quote is not intended to speak of God)

Original quote: I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world. (Mother Theresa)

8. Women are nothing but machines for producing children. Happy Mother’s Day!

Original quote: “Women are nothing but machines for producing children.” (Napoleon “Yes-I-Actually-Said-That” Bonaparte)

9. I don’t think the Republicans can damage my character. I reserve the right to accomplish that myself.

Original quote: ”I don’t think the Republicans can damage my character.” (Bill Clinton)

10. God does not play dice. He does not breed mice. He does not eat rice. And he doesn’t ever blink twice.

The government wants you to think of Uncle Sam this year for the Christmas Season and donate some money to them. It seems that Washington cannot print enough monopoly money to keep up with the party of the progressives spending habits. So, how about it, do you think you can spare a little extra to help out Barack, Harry and Nancy with their needs?

Every man ,woman and child in the country already has a $40,000 debt as their share of this year’s national spending. So, if you are the head of household in a family of four, and you want to do your part to help Barack, the head of the American household, put together the national budget, you should immediately make out a check for $160,000 and mail it to Timothy Geithner. Only a small portion of the money will go to ACORN, the SEIU and the various pork projects of the beltway elite.

As an additional method of raising money the White House is thinking of auctioning off, “A Weekend at the White House with Barack” vacation to the highest bidder. The winner will spend the weekend with Barack practicing in front of a TV prompter, and be allowed to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom provided that Barack can persuade Andy Stern to sleep on the couch for the weekend. The package includes a dinner with Barney Frank at a restaurant of the winner’s choice. To make things even more authentic the House of Representatives Ethics Committee will investigate your winning bid and then make the investigation disappear. To cap the vacation you will receive instructions on how to evade your taxes for at least a decade. A lap dance from Nancy, or Barney, will be at an additional charge.

Another idea to raise money is being considered at the highest level. This would be a “Global Warming Expedition” with Al Gore as your guide. The expedition will include a tour of a Canadian polar bear’s territory, first class seats aboard Al’s personal jet, and a certificate from Gore allowing you to use the internet he invented for a period of five years.

So, seriously, send your check to Washington and trust that the money will go to a worthy cause. As the Democratic Party majority would say, “It’s only money!” Try to think of all those jobs you will save in the 5,118 District of Puerto Rico. Barack will thank you. Nancy will thank you. Harry will thank you. Bill and Hilary will thank you. Khalid will thank you. Sean Penn will thank you. The Nobel Committee will thank you.

First, this audit should begin with indepth interviews with previous Haskell finance department employees (Barnette, Rameriez, Battise, well, the list goes on). These employees would not be afraid to provide specific incidents and dates of “odd” accounting practices.

Second, we would propose interviews with current bank manager. She could clear up the missing $40K from Creek Nation that still sits untouched in the Student Bank, because we would like to know why the money has been sitting there for nearly FIVE years.

As an accountant or business manager, if you know that the specific project (like delivery of distance education courses to the Creek Nation) has not been completed and if you, as a Board of Regent President George Tiger, told Haskell Indian Nations University to “just keep in the bank” in case we need it for something…..well, is that standard accounting practices?

If you were the Creek Nation wouldn’t you expect the recipient of your grant to either use it in the intended way or return it (as directed by the now absent Haskell Indian Nations University President Dr. Linda Sue Warner).

If you have a grant from anyone else and you can not complete it in this length of time, you would return the money. Keeping it implies you intend to try to do something else with it, you’re just hoping the Creek Nation forgets and the administration forgets and then you can move it into….well, who knows.

In fact, it would be worth it for David Tahlewemptewa to look now and see if that money is still there and maybe he can tell us why it hasn’t ever been spent on the intended project, or why Mike Lewis wants to keep it in his piggy bank.

In private employment and if an accountant did this for one account, the employer would fire him before even looking to see how many other “odd” practices were at work.

Any other University would dismiss an accountant who ignored the wishes of a funding agency and just kept the money….but since Mr. Lewis is such close personal friends with Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn, you have to believe she sanctions this type of accounting practice.

The real question is, does OBM and Larry Echohawk also sanction this type of accounting practice

Dr.Venida Chenault wants us to send a special congratulations to Dr. Dan Wildcat who recently won a teaching award typically designated for elementary teachers in Lawrence.

With qualifications that include self-proclaimed expertise in climate change (most people have a degree before they claim this, or a science background, or even subject matter expertise as a traditional person) and card carrying member of a non-federally recognized tribe, Haskell Indian Nations University is lucky to have Dan Wildcat because most Universities have academically qualified people working on climate change and most BIA/BIE institutions are required to hire people who can prove they have tribal membership and most other applicants for this particular award actually TEACH classes.

Haskell Indian Nations University continues to break new frontiers under Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn’s management-from-her-bed style. Look for breaking news soon on how she got her Senior Executive Service (SES) $150K a year job and why she can keep it now that her husband (Spike Bighorn) who likely supervised the members of the rating panel as Chief of Staff (before Larry Echohawk) bailed and is now refereeing full-time elsewhere.

Next thing we know, Dr. Dan Wildcat will be asking us to congratulate Dr. Venida Chenault on her “Student Conduct Management” award; Mike Lewis will be up for the “penny, penny, who’s got the penny award”; and Mike Tosee will be handed another $30K or so for his “I’m in it for the kids award” from the Mellon Foundation. Just how many of those awards can you get for doing the exact same thing? Even his own tribe is tired of paying for nothing now that his uncle can’t write a check.

Guess I will write A*CF and Mellon Foundation and find out the answer to that one. I will post when they respond. Oh yes, I will post my response from The Internal Revenue Service and the Kansas State Attorney General too.

Acting (some days, most days, frequently and occasionally) President Dan Wildcat is off campus this week but is steering Haskell’s climate change initiative over the phone with frequent updates to Mrs. Birdwell-Bighorn and Mr. Mike Lewis.

It is too bad that no one at Haskell has taken a look at the whole concept of “research” because in mainstream institutions, there are research protocols to follow, including getting the leader of the team or the Principal Investigator to actually have credentials of some sort.

Unless the scientific academy has taken on new ethics and now includes the Sunflower Teacher of the Year award as comparable to well, let’s say a Ph.D. from Harvard in microbiology, then we wonder why the scientists who teach in the environmental studies program at Haskell aren’t involved in this Echohawk project. Maybe Mrs. Birdwell-Bighorn can think of yet another way to highlight the underqualified faculty on a national level. This makes her social work credentials look better too.

For that matter, we wonder why the students in that program (and others) end up taking remedial coursework when they transfer into University courses elsewhere—KU included. Why is there a need for such thing as a bridge program….apparently there isn’t enough science in the science courses on this campus to allow a student to transfer seamlessly.

Unless they transfer into the Native Studies program at KU which has close ties to Dr. Wildcat even though he doesn’t have a degree in Native Studies either. He can posture about climate change and colonization, but even most of the purists in that Native Studies won’t get a degree from a mainstream university such as UMKC(the colonizer).

Purists, like Julia Goodfox and Mike Tsoee, don’t want a degree from the colonizer because that would mean you yourself were turned into the “apple” they criticize. I am pretty sure each one of them took money from the colonizer, but that’s a different blog.

Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn is working from home now,we bet plenty of other young mothers would have loved to be able to get full SES salary to lay in bed at home and write an occasional e-mail.

Spike Bighorn has gone off to referee non-government games so his wife Stephanie can keep her job.

Still no new director of Bureau of Indian Education, but a new chief of staff and even Chris Redman’s GS5 secretary is acting Director of Post Secondary next month.

Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn is saying to the world that anyone with a high school dipolma can run her office…that must be why Stephanie is immently qualified with a social work degree.

Acting Haskell Indian Nations University Vice President of everything and general all around expert on the Haskell Student Code of Conduct and Indiginous Mediation Venita Chenault has decided to direct the removal of student athletes from Haskell because a dorm aide was illegally in student rooms and found an empty beer can.

Can you expel a Haskell student for allegations?

Only at Haskell would some one with such control issues be allowed to harass students. Like we have said before Haskell is still run like a boarding school and Venita Chenault’s actions just prove our point.

Venita Chenault (social worker) would have personel expereince on how a school administration should santion students who are actually proven (adjucted) to have broken the law.

Maybe her son, the attorney, in charge of Haskell’s Student Court, should give her a lesson on due process.

As supervisor of Haskell’s residental hall aides you would think Dr.Chenault would have more pressing issues then to wonder where a stray beer can came from…like why is her sister a dorm aide at Blalock Hall roaming the aisles of Wal-Mart while on Uncle Sam’s dime?

Venita Chenault’s job is to supervise someone…..and no where in her job description does she supervise students. Chenalt is suppose to supervise federal employees.

Do you think she is off getting the empty beer can tested for DNA?

While extreme, it would actually probably benefit those students.

Cloward-Piven Government By James Simpson It is time to cast aside all remaining doubt. President Ob

Cloward-Piven Government
By James Simpson
It is time to cast aside all remaining doubt. President Obama is not trying to lead America forward to recovery, prosperity and strength. Quite the opposite, in fact.

In September of last year, American Thinker published my article, Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis. Part of a series, it connected then-presidential candidate Barack Obama to individuals and organizations practicing a malevolent strategy for destroying our economy and our system of government. Since then, the story of that strategy has found its way across the blogosphere, onto the airwaves of radio stations across the country, the Glenn Beck television show, Bill O’Reilly, and now Mark Levin.

The methodology is known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy, and we can all be grateful to David Horowitz and his Discover the Networks for originally exposing and explaining it to us. He describes it as:

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two lifelong members of Democratic Socialists of America who taught sociology at Columbia University (Piven later went on to City University of New York). In a May 1966 Nation magazine article titled “The Weight of the Poor,” they outlined their strategy, proposing to use grassroots radical organizations to push ever more strident demands for public services at all levels of government.

The result, they predicted, would be “a profound financial and political crisis” that would unleash “powerful forces … for major economic reform at the national level.”

They implemented the strategy by creating a succession of radical organizations, most notable among them the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), with the help of veteran organizer Wade Rathke. Their crowning achievement was the “Motor Voter” act, signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993 with Cloward and Piven standing behind him.

As we now know, ACORN was one of the chief drivers of high-risk mortgage lending that eventually led to the financial crisis. But the Motor Voter law was another component of the strategy. It created vast vulnerabilities in our electoral system, which ACORN then exploited.
ACORN’s vote registration scandals throughout the U.S. are predictable fallout.

The Motor Voter law has also been used to open another vulnerability in the system: the registration of vast numbers of illegal aliens, who then reliably vote Democrat. Herein lies the real reason Democrats are so anxious for open borders, security be damned.

It should be clear to anyone with a mind and two eyes that this president and this Congress do not have our interests at heart. They are implementing this strategy on an unprecedented scale by flooding America with a tidal wave of poisonous initiatives, orders, regulations, and laws. As Rahm Emmanuel said, “A crisis is a terrible thing to waste.”

The real goal of “health care” legislation, the real goal of “cap-and-trade,” and the real goal of the “stimulus” is to rip the guts out of our private economy and transfer wide swaths of it over to the government to control. Do not be deluded by the propaganda. These initiatives are vehicles for change. They are not goals in and of themselves except in their ability to deliver power. They and will make matters much worse, for that is their design.

This time, in addition to overwhelming the government with demands for services, Obama and the Democrats are overwhelming political opposition to their plans with a flood of apocalyptic legislation. Their ultimate goal is to leave us so discouraged, demoralized, and exhausted that we throw our hands up in defeat. As Barney Frank said, “the middle class will be too distracted to fight.”

These people are our enemies. They don’t use guns, yet, but they are just as dangerous, determined, and duplicitous as the communists we faced in the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, and bush wars across the globe, and the Nazis we faced in World War II.

It is time we fully internalized and digested this fact, with all its ugly ramifications. These people have violated countless laws and could be prosecuted, had we the political power. Not only are their policies unconstitutional, but deliberately so — the goal being to make the Constitution irrelevant. Their spending is off the charts and will drive us into hyperinflation, but it could be rescinded, had we the political power. These policies are toxic, but they could be stopped and reversed, had we the political power. Their ideologies are poisonous, but they could be exposed for what they are, with long jail sentences as an object lesson, had we the political power.

Every single citizen who cares about this country should be spending every minute of his or her spare time lobbying, organizing, writing, and planning. Fight every initiative they launch. It is all destructive. If we are to root out this evil, it is critical that in 2010 we elect competent, principled leaders willing to defend our Constitution and our country. Otherwise, the malevolent cabal that occupies the government today will become too entrenched.

After that, all bets are off.

From POLITICS DAILY:

With no votes to spare, Democratic senators moved health care reform past its first major hurdle Saturday night, with a party-line, 60-to-39 vote to begin consideration of the 2,000-plus page bill that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unveiled this week.

…snip…

The bill that senators will begin debating after Thanksgiving combines proposals passed by the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Committee Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP), and is designed to make health insurance more accessible and affordable. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill would expand coverage to 94 percent of Americans at a cost of $848 billion over the next 10 years.

(Shnooks and ninnies, from the top: Chinless Mitch McConnell, Kit So-Not-James Bond, Orrin Down-The Hatch, Richard Who? Burr, Mean Mike Enzi, Chuck Yer-Ass-Is Grassley, Captain Underpants, Limpy Snowe, Diaper David Vitter)

In addition to imposing new regulations on insurance companies, the legislation would create health insurance exchanges, which would function as a marketplace of last resort where Americans could choose between private insurance, non-profit cooperative insurance, and a government-run public insurance option. While Democrats differed in their levels of enthusiasm for the bill, Republicans were unanimous in their opposition, describing Reid’s proposal as everything from a spending binge to a Ponzi scheme.

Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine, who voted for the Democrats’ bill in the Senate Finance Committee, voted against debating it Saturday night. She objected to many of the the policies in the version of the bill that emerged from the Majority Leader’s office, including the public option.

Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), the top Republican on the Senate HELP Committee and the only accountant in the Senate, warned of the bill’s potentially catastrophic effect on the federal budget deficit. “Perhaps the best way to qualify this bill is to say it keeps me up nights,” Enzi said, summing it up in one word: “Disaster.”

Other Republicans, such as Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah objected to the bill’s abortion provisions, which are weaker than the House-passed bill, as well as the bill’s estimated cost of nearly $1 trillion to the taxpayers over the next decade. Missouri Republican Sen. Kit Bond said there were so many objectionable elements to the proposal that his colleagues had a hard time choosing which ones to go after first. “We’re like a mosquito in a nudist colony,” he said. “We have so many targets to attack in this bill we don’t know which one to hit.”

Democratic leaders defended their bill, with Reid saying of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), “The facts he is talking about do not exist, except in the minds of people who do not understand this bill.”

…snip…

In the minutes before the vote, Sen. Max Baucus, a leader for the Democrats in health care reform, said to his fellow senators, “History is knocking on the door. Let’s open it.”

From the Omaha World-Herald:

Senators will begin weeks of debate when they return from Thanksgiving break, but Republicans who stood united against the vote to allow consideration of the bill said Saturday’s vote was anything but procedural.

The Republican leader, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, cast it as a referendum on the bill itself, which he said would raise taxes, cut Medicare and create a “massive and unsustainable debt.”

The Senate proposal would require most Americans to carry insurance and provide subsidies to those who couldn’t afford it. The insurance industry would come under significant new regulation under the bill, which would first ease and then ban the practice of denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions.

The 10-year bill would reduce the budget deficit through new taxes and cuts to Medicare, according to congressional budget analysts, while extending coverage to 31 million more Americans, ensuring coverage for 94 percent of the eligible population.

At the White House, press secretary Robert Gibbs issued a statement saying the president was gratified by the vote, which “brings us one step closer to ending insurance company abuses, reining in spiraling health care costs, providing stability and security to those with health insurance and extending quality health coverage to those who lack it.”

…snip…

The drama surrounding a rare Saturday night vote had diminished greatly after the final two holdout Democrats, [Blanche] Lincoln and [Mary] Landrieu, announced hours beforehand that they would vote to allow debate. [Ben] Nelson announced his intentions Friday.

“Oh, this is so tense,” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., joked from his seat as senators’ names were called out during the vote.

Hilarious, asshole.

George Voinovich of Ohio was not present for the vote. The Senate’s other 39 Republicans, including Mike Johanns of Nebraska and Chuck Grassley of Iowa, all voted to block consideration of the bill.

[Tom] Harkin [of Iowa], chairman of the Senate Health Committee, has been one of the leading advocates for the health care legislation.

In a rallying cry before the vote, he said that conservative lawmakers once bitterly opposed the creation of now-popular programs such as Social Security and Medicare. At the time, he said, they tried to scare people about those programs, and today’s Republicans have resorted to similar tactics.

“Now is not the time to go wobbly in the knees, I say to my friends in the Democratic caucus. Now is the time to stand strong. Now is the time to … move this country forward, say yes to the American people and no to these fears and unfounded allegations,” Harkin said.

After Harkin, it was Grassley’s turn. He noted that former President Bill Clinton had told Senate Democrats the worst thing they could do on health care would be nothing. But Grassley said the bill is far worse than nothing.

He said it would raise private health insurance premiums, cut Medicare to the point of threatening access to care and threaten the economic recovery.

“Its a half a trillion dollars in new taxes, hurting small business and destroying job creation,” Grassley said on the Senate floor. “It calls for an even bigger and more unsustainable federal budget.

“It adds to that burden with a massive new government-run health plan. It makes health care more unaffordable and lower quality.”

MATCH #1
New Mexico soccer player Elizabeth Lambert
vs.
France soccer player Thierry Henry
Henry gains control due to a test of strength. Henry with chops to Lambert, he grabs a headlock takedown which quickly becomes a headscissors. Lambert escapes with some well-placed elbows and both are up. Lambert runs off the ropes and tries a shoulder block. Nothing. She tries again. Same result. Lambert tries kicking him first but this time Henry takes her down. Lambert runs off the ropes, Henry catches the leapfrog attempt and turns it into a fireman’s carry cutter. Fist drop by Henry, a scoop slam and a second rope knee drop which misses. Lambert wraps Henry’s leg in the ropes then dropkicks it. Shinbreaker by Lambert! Lambert out to grab a chair and back in. Henry manages gets loose. Lambert clobbers him with the chair. Henry staggers back to his corner. What? He’s raising the white flag? Johnny Suave utters his first ‘HOLY CRAP’ of the night. Lambert yanks Henry by what hair he has and throws him face first to the mat. The referee calls for the bell. Kicks by Lambert now and she doesn’t let up. The ref tries to pull Lambert off Henry. Lambert elbows him in the stomach. Lambert bends down and starts bouncing Henry’s head off the canvas. The bell rings a second time. Lambert continues to assault Henry.

The announcement is made that Lambert won the match due to Henry submitting. Suddenly, an enraged Zinedine Zidane runs into the ring and verbally abuses the referee. HEAD BUTT to the referee! Zidane grabs Lambert and pulls her off Henry. Zidane goes for a head butt. Lambert eludes and takes a free kick right to Zidane’s balls. Mercifully, security finally intervenes before more bloodshed and a possible international incident results.

WINNER: Elizabeth Lambert in 2:35

Suave then reviews the recent release of The Alaskan Pitbull’s new book, Going Rogue, and then replays Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub from a few weeks back.

(Replay from 10/7-PCW EXTREME POLITICAL TV- PART 2)
BILL CLINTON’S HOT TUB
Slick Announcer Guy: “And now, it’s time for our new feature on PCW Extreme Political TV, Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub. And here’s your host, Bill Clinton.” Clinton, inside a steaming hot tub, waves to the audience. Clinton: “Good evening. Tonight on our new show, Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub, we are damn lucky to have one of the most polarizing figures in American politics today. And even better, she’s hot looking! Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin!” The camera pans over to Palin who seems a little uncomfortable with the whole arrangement. Her clothes are stacked up by the side of the hot tub and she tries to keep as low as possible inside the hot tub. Clinton: “Governor Palin, I am profoundly appreciative that you came on my show tonight.” Palin: “Um…thank you, President Clinton. But, was it really necessary for both of us to take all of our clothes off?” Clinton: “Well, it all depends on what your definition of ‘clothes’ is. Is it a metaphoric reference to cover up what we really feel inside or is it more of an issue of not wanting to totally put yourself out there?” Palin: “Riiiight. You betcha. Can we get to my book?” Clinton reaches over and grabs a copy of Palin’s new book, Going Rogue. Clinton: “From her humble beginnings to her time in the spotlight as the first female Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin has led an extraordinary life. Going Rogue will recount her political experiences, her time as Mayor of Wasilla and as the first female governor of Alaska, as well as her rapid rise on the national stage during the 2008 campaign. Additionally, she’ll share insights into the personal challenges she’s faced including balancing her time as a working mother, recognizing the war’s impact with her son serving combat in Iraq, having a child with a disability and supporting her teenage daughter through an unplanned pregnancy.” Palin: “I just wanted to tell my side of the story and share the experiences that I’ve gone through over the past year of so.” Clinton: “Very intriguing. Going Rogue. I think I’d like your book better if you called it Going Commando. BWHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA” Palin: “Mr. President, that’s not the least bit funny.” Clinton: “BWHAHAHAHAHAHA…haha… hahaha….ha ha……ha…………..ha…oh, all right. You-a…you became a lightning rod for any number of groups. Some thought you were refreshing. Others didn’t think you were ready for prime time. You believe this book tells us all about the real Sarah Palin? Palin: “Yes I do. It’s about growing up in Alaska, meeting Todd, running for office, addresses my beliefs in faith and family, um, the book is about who I am.” Clinton: “All right, before we go, I have to ask you a favor.” Palin: “Um…what?” Clinton: “Can you do that whole put your hands in the air thing you did on Saturday Night Live?” Palin: “Not right at this moment.” Clinton: “Shucks. Okay, that’s it for Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub. Tune in next week when-” Hillary’s Voice: “WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON!” Clinton: “Oh ****. Hillary doesn’t know I have company. Can you kind of go under the water for a few seconds and…” Palin: “I don’t think so.” Hillary enters, none too happy. Clinton: “Hi honey, how you do-” *CLANG* Hillary connects with a frying pan to the mush.

Suave: “And we’re back. That was intellectually stimulating…okay…it was stimulating, but we won’t get into details…

—————————————–

And while you’re there (cheap plug…cheap plug…) check out this book as well. Loose Cannons

There are some books you curl up with on a warm couch to read.

This isn’t one of them.

Released just in time for the presidential election but stil relevant in today’s dysfunctional political atmosphere, Loose Cannons and Other Weapons of Mass Political Destruction is an independent call to arms, a rowdy, hard-hitting, no holds barred satire that finally puts politics in proper perspective- by equating it to professional wrestling. Or in other terms, it’s a book you can crack open a six of beer and crank up the music to enjoy a humorous and occasionally biting political satire.

A dark cloud has covered the American political landscape. The powerful forces of professional partisans, political operatives, and special interest groups have combined to polarize the electorate into two bitterly divided extreme camps while many people tune out of the political process altogether.

However, DeWayne Cantrell isn’t like most people.

Co-owner with Bubba Jackson of the world’s only political pro wrestling federation, Buckland County Extreme Wrestling, DeWayne, a reformed politician himself, skewers the political world on a weekly basis on the BCEW wrestling show. But when powerful United States Senator David Hutchinson gets wind of what Cantrell is doing, DeWayne finds himself being subpoenaed to appear before a Senate sub-committee on the ‘Media and Their Contribution to the Coarseness of the American Culture.’ It is only after a heated exchange with Senator Hutchinson at the contentious hearing that DeWayne realizes that it’s no joke anymore.

Cantrell then throws his hat into the political ring and challenges Hutchinson for his Senate seat. Can DeWayne stand up for the little guy against the establishment of both political parties and stick it to the Washington D.C. elites? To what lengths will the professional politicians and their special interest groups go to stop him?

And will American politics ever be the same?

NOTE: We’d like to reassure everyone that no actual American Congressman, Senator, President, aides, political pundits, know-it-all celebrity political pundits, pompous cable TV personalities, right wing or left wing talk show hosts, reality show contestants, Weather Channel personalities, or skanky rich bimbos were injured in the making of this book.

———–

Suave notes as an FYI, several current PCW characters are in Loose Cannons including him, Dawn McGill, Justin Sufferable, Chris Escondido, Starz N. Stripes aka Kevin Scott and many more.

BACKSTAGE
American Patriots Leader Eric Cantor implores the Raving Rednecks Locke and Loade to defeat the BiPartisan Dream Team. Cantor, Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.) and Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) oppose the Progressive Alliance’s plan to provide universal health insurance to PCW roster members. RINO and Blue Dog D favor compromise on a health insurance plan as long as its fiscally responsible.

MATCH #2
Blue Dog D (Progressive Alliance) and RINO (American Patriots)
vs.
‘Raving Rednecks’ Locke and Loade (American Patriots)
Locke gets control very early with a knee to the face and a running neckbreaker. A pair of clotheslines by Locke, RINO tries to toss him over the top but he skins the cat and comes back in with a flying forearm. ARRIBA! Locke tosses RINO out but HE skins the cat…and gets kicked in the face. Locke low-bridges Blue Dog D and Locke gets an assisted crossbody to the floor on both men. Back inside, Loade gets some chops to RINO and then an inverted atomic. Loade drops his head too early and gets kicked in the face, the tag is made to Blue Dog D who hits a SILKY flying European. Loade comes back with a back elbow and a pair of clotheslines, tag is made to Locke and they hit a series of double teams culminating in a knee drop for 2 by Locke. Blue Dog D gets some forearms to regain control, he calls for RINO but Locke runs through the double team and clotheslines both men. All 4 men in the ring, they hang Blue Dog D in the tree of woe and whip RINO into him! EWWWW they crotche RINO on the face of Blue Dog D, then RINO falls on top of him in a…shall we say compromising position? I think we shall. Locke gets a boot up to a charging Blue Dog D, but Blue Dog D comes back with some forearms and whips Locke into RINO’ knee. RINO is in now, back elbow by RINO. Tag back to Blue Dog D, what the hell are they doing? They just did a tour of Locke’s hands and feet…never mind it was dumb. Whip to Locke, Blue Dog D hits a knee in the corner followed by a big boot by RINO and a knee drop by Blue Dog D. RINO is the legal man and gets a 2 count. RINO slaps around Locke and gets his teeth rearranged with a superkick. Tag to Loade, clothesline! A pair! A trio! Baaaaaack body drop. Inverted atomic for RINO! He is a House~! En! FUEGO~!! Chop for Blue Dog D and a Blockbuster gets 2. Whip to RINO and Locke kicks him in the back of the head from the apron. Double team suplex! Assisted uranage slam by Loade gets two before RINO breaks it up. RINO and Blue Dog D set for the Flibuster Buster, Eric Cantor now ringside and up on the ring apron. Locke uses the distraction to hit a low blow. Locke lifts RINO up…4-D REDNECK DEATHBLAST! Loade gets the rollup for 3!

WINNER: ‘Raving Rednecks’ Locke and Loade in 7:22

Post match, the Green World Order (GreenPete, Extreme Vegan Brock Cole Lee, PeaceNick, and Peta from PETA) run-in. Cantor vacates. Lee and GreenPete eject Locke and Loade forceably from the ring. PeaceNick protests the violent manner of which Lee and GreenPete forceably eject Locke and Loade from the ring. Peta just screams out “”THANKSGIVING IS MURDER ON TURKEYS!” over and over. Crowd: “PEOPLE EATING (clap, clap clap-clap-clap) TASTY ANIMALS! (clap, clap clap-clap-clap) Cahall tells Peta that people are tired of being badgered by others telling them what they can eat, drink, and think. Cahall: “Just shut up. Don’t eat meat if that’s your choice. But leave people alone. Things are bad enough without zealots like you telling them what to do.” Koteen, in between puffs from his cigarette, starts throwing slabs of turkey meat to the crowd. Crowd: “RRRRRAHAHHHHHHHHHHHH!” Peta throws a fit. Peta: “STOP THAT! STOP IT!” GreenPete and Brock Cole Lee hop out of the ring and confront Politically Incorrect. GreenPete knocks over the wagon holding the turkey. Cahall takes the baster and squirts turkey juice in his eyes. Andrea Doria grabs the cutting board and blasts GreenPete in the back of his head. His eyes roll up and he falls to the floor. Koteen takes the pot of boiling hot water and dumps it on Brock Cole Lee. Doria then nails him with the solid wooden cutting board and takes him out.

The two lock up, Amariie takes Megann down early and gets a pinfall. After the two count, she gives Megann an uppercut and a low kick. Amariie delivers some more punches and whips Megann towards the ropes. Megann responds with an elbow and tries to send Amariie out with her feet. It’s unsuccessful. Amariie responds by throwing a punch but Megann avoids it. Megann tries a low strike but Amariie hits a baseball slide that sends her out to the faces. Amariie leaves the ring to fetch Megann. After sending Megann back into the ring, Amariie gets back on offense. A couple of kicks to the head is followed up with another uppercut. Michelle Amariie twists the arm of Megann and tries to whip Megann to the corner. The challenger counters it and elbows Amariie. Megann lands some kicks and punches and gives Amariie a one-person flapjack. She pins Amariie but only gets a two count.

Suddenly, someone creepy comes out.

The Goatbusters, Peter Jenkman and Ray Scantz climb into the ring. Suave: “The winner gets NCISF’d on Wednesday night’s PCW/MVW House Show…Show.”

Abrams and Jenkman start things out with a shoving contest and Jenkman grabs a headlock and then bulls over him with a shoulder block. We get a leapfrog sequence and Abrams hits a gut punch, leaps over Jenkman and hits a spinning wheel kick. Scantz tags in, jumps into the ring and taunts, but Abrams is having none of it and hits a kick to the gut. They do a leapfrog sequence to a stalemate until Scantz schools Abrams with a series of armdrags. Bettis tags in, fakes a Greco-Roman Knucklelock and hits a boot to the gut, and follows with a stiff chop and a back elbow. Jenkman tags back in and they trade shoves, shoulder blocks and slaps. Kevin blows snot on Bettis and Bettis spits on Kevin. Jenkman wins a forearm exchange but Bettis hits a dropkick. He wins another strike war and whips Kevin to the corner and hits a corner clothesline, and then hits a snap mare before hitting a running boot for a two count. Abrams tags in and controls Kevin with corner thrusts but Jenkman counters a vertical suplex with his own. Jenkman grabs a front facelock and Scantz tags in. Scantz and Abrams trade strikes and Bettis is back in and so is Jim Frascantore. They hit a double football tackle on Scantz. Bettis covers for two.

Bettis hits a snap suplex for two and Scantz backs up and tags Jenkman in. Kevin telegraphs a back body drop and gets kicked, but he rolls under a clothesline and DDTs Bettis for two. Abrams tried to break up the cover and gets a snot rocket in his direction. He tells Scantz to put the boot up and slams Bettis’s face on the boot. Scantz is in and he gets two off a scoop slam. Jenkmanerico work in the drop toehold/somersault legdrop combo, Scantz takes out Abrams and Jenkman covers for two. Scantz tags back in and stays on top of things with strikes. He whips Bettis into the corner but runs into a back elbow, and Bettis hits the reverse STO into the middle turnbuckle. Bettis makes the tag and Abrams busts out some Redneck Fu and an Alabama Slam. Jenkman comes in and Abrams hits the leg lariat to the back of the neck. He runs into a boot and Scantz tosses him to the apron. Scantz dives onto Bettis and Abrams dives onto Jenkman!

Scantz and Abrams go back into the ring and stare each other down. Abrams wins a forearm battle but runs into Scantz’s modified Michinoku Driver. Scantz gets two and goes for the corner Yakuza Kick, but runs into a superkick. Both men make tags and Bettis and Jenkman trade forearms and elbows. LOTS of forearms and elbows. Bettis wins with punches and stomps a mudhole. He does the facewash but Scantz hits the Yakuza Kick when he goes to the other corner! SIDE EXPLODER BY ABRAMS! POWERBOMB BY JENKMAN! All four men are down! Jenkman and Bettis are up and trade punches, but Jenkman hits the Codebreaker! He heads up top, but the Swanton Bomb eats knees! Jenkman tags out but Scantz runs into a forearm. Scantz tosses Bettis to the apron but Abrams hits a clothesline and a cutter, Bettis lifts up Jenkman, DEATH VALLEY DRIVER ON THE APRON!

Jim Frascantore pick up Scantz and hit the crucifix bomb/neckbreaker combination. Bettis covers but Scantz kicks out at two! They set up for the Emergency Broadcast Suplex, but Jenkman grabs Abrams, VICTORY ROLL BY SCANTZ! ONE…TWO…THR-NO! Scantz grabs Bettis, and hits an Exploder into the buckles! Jenkman is in, CANNONBALL! Scantz is up top, SOMERSAULT COAST TO COAST DROPKICK BY SCANTZ! Cover…1…2…3!

WINNER: The Goatbusters in 15:27

~~By InsightAnalytical-GRL

I just watched a BBC America show about the reticent Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, and over the last couple of days on NPR radio, the Stardate segments have been devoted to the anniversary of the Apollo 12 mission when Pete Conrad (the third man to make that walk) and Alan Bean made a pinpoint landing of the lunar module to test “precise landing techniques” that would be used in future missions.

"The Surveyor 3 spacecraft sits silently in a small lunar crater, with the Apollo 12 lunar module on the crater's rim in the background.
Early last week I posted this comment by Zachary Karabell, who appeared on CNBC (See: Larry Kudlow Has a Fit as Obama the “Declinist” Opens His Mouth in Japan; Says Obama is “Not His President”):

And he said that if we want China to continue to “hitch” themselves to us more, we’re not supposed to freak out if China wants to buy businesses HERE and not have a “knee-jerk xenophobic response.”

Well, here’s a story that will not make people happy, even though it may help us ultimately less dependent on foreign oil. Of course, we may become dependent on NEW environmental technology from foreign sources, but…

From Business Week (my bolding):

China Solar Panel Maker Sets First U.S. Plant

Suntech Power aims to boost its share of the U.S. market with a solar-panel manufacturing plant to be built in Arizona

China’s Suntech Power Holdings (STP) is no newcomer to the U.S. Last May, President Barack Obama toured the U.S.’s largest solar panel installation at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. There, row upon row of shiny black Suntech panels account for about a third of the 14-megawatt solar farm.

Suntech landed that project the same way it has raced to the top of the fast-growing global solar market: by focusing on price and scale. Now the world’s largest supplier of solar panels is boosting its stake in the U.S. market.

On Nov. 16 in Beijing, the company announced its first American manufacturing plant. The facility, to be located in the Phoenix area, will begin production by next October. “The U.S. market is on the cusp of greatness,” says Steven Chan, Americas president and chief strategy officer for Suntech. With the announcement, Suntech becomes the first major Chinese cleantech player to bring factory j obs to the U.S.

MMMM...wonder how many MORE major Chinese players will be arriving? And on U.S. military bases? (Of course, wasn’t there a flap over Bill Clinton selling military technology to China way back when?)

Now, there are some in Congress that are afraid our home-grown “green manufacturing jobs” won’t get a chance to get off the ground if this sort of thing happens on a regular basis. Sure, the Chinese are manufacturing here, but the factory jobs are THEIR creation, not jobs created by a home-grown company.

Obama’s visit to China focusing on collaboration in green technologies. Suntech’s move may soften criticism from U.S. lawmakers worried that low-cost factories in China will snare new green manufacturing jobs before they even have a chance to take root in the U.S. “[Suntech's] decision to bring manufacturing here to the U.S. is a great sign of the increasingly important collaboration between Chinese and American leaders in the renewable-energy industry,” said Dan Kammen, a professor in the energy and resources group at the University of California at Berkeley, in a statement provided by Suntech.

Gee…that Berkley prof can’t write his own statement??

According to the article, most of the grants the U.S. issues for “cleantech” is winding up overseas:

Suntech’s investment comes as anxieties are rising in Washington over foreign domination of the U.S. cleantech space. In late October the announcement of a Chinese-U.S. consortium planning to build a wind park in Texas using imported Chinese turbines led to calls that federal subsidies should be pulled from the project. The same month, a report from the Investigative Reporting Workshop found that in the wind sector, where foreign manufacturers dominate the market, overseas companies have received 84% of more than $1 billion in federal clean-energy grants released since Sept. 1. The study did not focus on solar energy, but the majority of solar panels are also produced by European and Asian companies.

Texas? Well, naturally…I’d bet that the George Bushes I & II are involved somehow, what with their long-time ties to China…Between them and their heir Barack Obama, things are proceeding very nicely…

In light of my previous post about growing U.S. unemployment, pardon me if I query: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??

(Well, we’re going to build electric cars with the Chinese, for one thing…)

***

Editor’s Note: I loved the space program and now live where Pete Conrad lived…and remember when this irrepressible spirit, who shouted “Whoopee” as he hopped around the moon’s surface, died in a motorcycle crash in California 10 years ago this past July (pictures on this memoria page).

Lemon Chess Pie recipes are abundant these days. It seems this old-fashioned pie has had a resurgence in the last few years. Twenty years ago, few people (other than Southerners) had ever sampled any type of chess pie.

I have made chocolate chess pies as well as plain chess pie and lemon chess pie. This recipe is fool-proof and so I continue to return to this simple recipe, as my family enjoys it and it is easy to prepare.

Be sure to put on the coffee or expresso before cutting the pie! The delicious lemon flavor is excellent when accompanied by expresso, especially.

Lemon Chess Pie

Ingredients

4 eggs

1 1/2 cups sugar

Dash of salt

Deep Dish pie crust, unbaked (I use Pet Ritz)

Juice of 2 large lemons (or 3 small lemons)

Grated rind of 1 lemon

3 T. melted butter

Method

Beat eggs slightly. Add sugar, butter and lemon juice to eggs and beat well. Beat well. Stir in lemon rind and salt. Pour into baked pie shell.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until set.

Let cool well before cutting. I prefer my lemon chess pie cold. I make this pie a day ahead and remove from the fridge right before serving. It will be easier to cut that way.

You can double the recipe for two pies, which is often what I do when having a group.

For fun, we are including a lemon chess pie recipe, which is ostensibly from former President, Bill Clinton. I have made a very similar recipe in the past. If you want to serve a “celebrity” lemon chess pie recipe, here’s the recipe and photo:

by Snidely Whiplash

So Miss Sarah’s book, Going Rogue is out. It’s breaking sales records all over the joint. Amazing. Let me tell ya why.

How many are aware that the Associated Press assigned 11 reporters to vett her book? ELEVEN! Eleven AP minions assigned to dissect 440 pages of a book from a former politician. ELEVEN! No worries though. In fairness to AP they did this for other political persons pre and post office holding books.

The AP assigned how many reporters to the President’s 2 books was it? Hold on – I’ll look it up. Meanwhile, they did the same for Algore’s book too! Al Franken’s book on Limbaugh was heavily vetted as well. Bill Clinton’s book is at present still undergoing some fact checking too! And let’s not forget Michal Moore’s pre-2008 election guide!

Good! I found it! Between all the above mentioned books, Palin’s included, the AP assigned a grand total of ELEVEN (11) reporters to vett these political treatises.

Wait . . . if the AP assigned 11 reporters to her book, and 11 were the total for all the books I mentioned, seems maybe the Obama books, Algore, Clinton, Moore and Franken had ZERO vetting by AP. Huh? That’s gotta be a mistake – be right back – double checking.

Wow friends. I have the sad occasion of reporting that the AP assigned NO ONE, ZIP, ZERO, NADA, forget about it, reporter’s to vett the liberal wordsmithing. Golly gee is all I can say. Can y’all hear the shock and dismay in me voice? I am shaken to the core.

Granted, the Bamster’s two books were written before a handful of people knew who the Hell he was, so maybe that’s acceptable, although once the chatter about His Awesomeness grew one would think an organization CHARGED with discovering and verifying facts would have grown at least a little curious, wouldn’t they? I mean an amateur like me was curious enough to buy the damned books.

The trend is strikingly visible in a single image from Rasmussen:

The green line is the people who like Obama. And it’s dropping like an asteroid. The red line is the people who don’t like Obama. And it’s going higher and higher. And the “-14″ is the difference between the people who really like Obama from the people who really don’t like him. As you can see, the “really don’t like hims” have it.

At traffic lights, I’m a big fan of encountering green. Here, I really love the red.

Obama is already speaking about the possibility that he might be so politically gangrenous by 2012 that he won’t even bother to run.

“You know, if – if I feel like I’ve made the very best decisions for the American people and three years from now I look at it and, you know, my poll numbers are in the tank and because we’ve gone through these wrenching changes, you know, politically, I’m in a tough spot, I’ll – I’ll feel all right about myself,” Obama told CNN’s Ed Henry.

Obama went on to say:

“I’d feel a lot worse, if at a time of such urgency for the American people I was spending a lot of time thinking about how I could position myself to ensure reelection.

“Because if I were doing that right now, I wouldn’t have taken on health care, I wouldn’t be taking on things that are unpopular,” the president said. “I wouldn’t be closing Guantanamo. There are a whole series of choices that I’m making that I know are going to create some political turbulence. But I think they’re the right thing to do, and history will bear out my theories or not.”

All I can say is, “or not.” You’re “theories” are bogus, Barry.

Health care was bad enough, in terms of a blatant display of either ignorance or disavowal of the clear will of the American people. But when you look at the determination to put Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the other terrorists on civilian trial in New York City in the face of overwhelming rejection of the electorate, you can see that Obama frankly doesn’t give a damn what the nation thinks.

As Rasmussen puts it:

Just 29% agree with the decision to try Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and five other terrorists suspects in a New York city courtroom. Only 14% believe terrorist suspects should receive the same legal rights in court as U.S. citizens.

We can add the fact that Obama hasn’t bothered to try to keep our citizens safe at home or our soldiers safe abroad (or at home for that matter). Between Afghanistan, Fort Hood, and the H1N1 debacle, you’ve seriously got to wonder.

Only 47% of Americans at least somewhat approve of Obama. And only 47% of Democrats strongly approve of him.

But he’s not listening to you. He’s listening to George Soros and Andy Stern.

And there are portents of a total disaster for Democrats in 2010 if they continue on their suicidal path into the hard-core ideological liberal agenda they have been pursuing.

The Huffington Post (hardly even remotely CLOSE to being pro-conservative) has this:

NEW YORK — Despite sweeping Democratic successes in the past two national elections, continuing job losses and President Barack Obama’s slipping support could lead to double-digit losses for the party in next year’s congressional races and may even threaten their House control.

Fifty-four new Democrats were swept into the House in 2006 and 2008, helping the party claim a decisive majority as voters soured on a Republican president and embraced Obama’s message of hope and change. Many of the new Democrats are in districts carried by Republican John McCain in last year’s presidential contest; others are in traditional swing districts that have proved tough for either party to hold.

From New Hampshire to Nevada, House Democrats also will be forced to defend votes on Obama’s $787 billion economic recovery package and on energy legislation viewed by many as a job killer in an already weak economy.

Add to that the absence of Obama from the top of the ticket, which could reduce turnout among blacks, liberals and young people, and the likelihood of a highly motivated GOP base confused by the president’s proposed health care plan and angry at what they consider reckless spending and high debt.

Taken together, it could be the most toxic environment for Democrats since 1994, when the party lost 34 House incumbents and 54 seats altogether. Democrats currently have a 256-178 edge in the House, with one vacancy. Republicans would have to pick up 40 seats to regain control.

Republicans hold a six point lead over Democrats in generic balloting – and have held a lead for four months. That hasn’t happened since the dinosaurs walked the earth. That’s actually even bigger than it sounds, given the fact that those identifying themselves as “Republican” are considerably more likely to vote than those identifying themselves as “Democrat.”

On my own view, the Democrats aren’t in 1994 trouble; they’re actually more along the lines of being in 1997 trouble.

1997 was the year of the Heaven’s Gate cult mass suicide, as members – all wearing the same kind of Nike sneakers – committed suicide in order to beam themselves onto the spaceship hiding behind the Hale-Bopp comet.

As the Democrats pursue radical leftist policy after radical leftist policy, they are essentially saying, “Beam me up, Scotty!” just like their Heaven’s Gate intellectual forebears did before them. As the American people clearly are turning against the Democrats’ radicalism, the Democrats are calling for still more radicalism. It’s almost as if they’re saying, “If we guzzle more of our Kool-aid faster, we’ll be SURE to win.”

I was never a Bill Clinton fan. But one thing you could count on Slick Willie to do was whatever was politically best for Slick Willie. He was a liberal; but if the people demanded he be a moderate, he would suddenly discover that he was a moderate.

That isn’t Barry Hussein. He is a hard-core ideologue. People like me tried to warn you that the man who spent 23 years in a racist, anti-American, Marxist church would be such an ideologue.

Barry will destroy his presidency, and destroy the Democrat Party, in order to advance an agenda that is far more radical than the American people understood when they elected him.

Say hello to Obama’s little friend, the Cloward-Piven strategy.

Update, November 24:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 27% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President.
Fifty-two percent (52%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 68% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, just 16% Strongly Approve and 51% Strongly Disapprove (see other recent demographic highlights from the tracking poll).

Frankly this article is spot on. As a Republican the truth hurts, but even more galling is the fact that the Party hasn’t adapted to the reality that most voters no longer trust the GOP to govern conservatively from a fiscal standpoint. A growing number of voters (especially independents) are upset with the direction of spending and deficits; however, the health care reform debate is a classic example of where the GOP has no alternative plan collectively supported by its members that address the needs for reform in a more fiscally responsible way.

All I hear is mostly doomsday scenarios about the “gov’t takeover” of healthcare, many of which I believe are true, but there is no positive plan for voters to affirmatively direct their caution and suspicion of the Democrat Plan to. Hence another missed opportunity for the GOP and further example of the lack of credible and authentic leaders to change the dynamic. My visit earlier this week to the Fall Meeting of the National Republican Senatorial Committee left me no less uninspired.

Notations
Republican Deficit Hypocrisy
Bruce Bartlett, 11.20.09, 12:01 AM ET

The human capacity for self-delusion never ceases to amaze me, so it shouldn’t surprise me that so many Republicans seem to genuinely believe that they are the party of fiscal responsibility. Perhaps at one time they were, but those days are long gone.

This fact became blindingly obvious to me six years ago this month when a Republican president and a Republican Congress enacted the Medicare drug benefit, which former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker has called “the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960s.”

Recall the situation in 2003. The Bush administration was already projecting the largest deficit in American history–$475 billion in fiscal year 2004, according to the July 2003 mid-session budget review. But a big election was coming up that Bush and his party were desperately fearful of losing. So they decided to win it by buying the votes of America’s seniors by giving them an expensive new program to pay for their prescription drugs.

Recall, too, that Medicare was already broke in every meaningful sense of the term. According to the 2003 Medicare trustees report, spending for Medicare was projected to rise much more rapidly than the payroll tax as the baby boomers retired. Consequently, the rational thing for Congress to do would have been to find ways of cutting its costs. Instead, Republicans voted to vastly increase them–and the federal deficit–by $395 billion between 2004 and 2013.

However, the Bush administration knew this figure was not accurate because Medicare’s chief actuary, Richard Foster, had concluded, well before passage, that the more likely cost would be $534 billion. Tom Scully, a Republican political appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services, threatened to fire him if he dared to make that information public before the vote. (See this report by the HHS inspector general and this article by Foster.)

It’s important to remember that the congressional budget resolution capped the projected cost of the drug benefit at $400 billion over 10 years. If there had been an official estimate from Medicare’s chief actuary putting the cost at well more than that, then the legislation could have been killed by a single member in either the House or Senate by raising a point of order. Then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., later said he regretted not doing so.

Even with a deceptively low estimate of the drug benefit’s cost, there were still a few Republicans in the House of Representatives who wouldn’t roll over and play dead just to buy re-election. Consequently, when the legislation came up for its final vote on Nov. 22, 2003, it was failing by 216 to 218 when the standard 15-minute time allowed for voting came to an end.

What followed was one of the most extraordinary events in congressional history. The vote was kept open for almost three hours while the House Republican leadership brought massive pressure to bear on the handful of principled Republicans who had the nerve to put country ahead of party. The leadership even froze the C-SPAN cameras so that no one outside the House chamber could see what was going on.

Among those congressmen strenuously pressed to change their vote was Nick Smith, R-Mich., who later charged that several members of Congress attempted to virtually bribe him, by promising to ensure that his son got his seat when he retired if he voted for the drug bill. One of those members, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, was later admonished by the House Ethics Committee for going over the line in his efforts regarding Smith.

Eventually, the arm-twisting got three Republicans to switch their votes from nay to yea: Ernest Istook of Oklahoma, Butch Otter of Idaho and Trent Franks of Arizona. Three Democrats also switched from nay to yea and two Republicans switched from yea to nay, for a final vote of 220 to 215. In the end, only 25 Republicans voted against the budget-busting drug bill. (All but 16 Democrats voted no.)

Otter and Istook are no longer in Congress, but Franks still is, so I checked to see what he has been saying about the health legislation now being debated. Like all Republicans, he has vowed to fight it with every ounce of strength he has, citing the increase in debt as his principal concern. “I would remind my Democratic colleagues that their children, and every generation thereafter, will bear the burden caused by this bill. They will be the ones asked to pay off the incredible debt,” Franks declared on Nov. 7.

Just to be clear, the Medicare drug benefit was a pure giveaway with a gross cost greater than either the House or Senate health reform bills how being considered. Together the new bills would cost roughly $900 billion over the next 10 years, while Medicare Part D will cost $1 trillion.

Moreover, there is a critical distinction–the drug benefit had no dedicated financing, no offsets and no revenue-raisers; 100% of the cost simply added to the federal budget deficit, whereas the health reform measures now being debated will be paid for with a combination of spending cuts and tax increases, adding nothing to the deficit over the next 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. (See here for the Senate bill estimate and here for the House bill.)

Maybe Franks isn’t the worst hypocrite I’ve ever come across in Washington, but he’s got to be in the top 10 because he apparently thinks the unfunded drug benefit, which added $15.5 trillion (in present value terms) to our nation’s indebtedness, according to Medicare’s trustees, was worth sacrificing his integrity to enact into law. But legislation expanding health coverage to the uninsured–which is deficit-neutral–somehow or other adds an unacceptable debt burden to future generations. We truly live in a world only George Orwell could comprehend when our elected representatives so easily conflate one with the other.

Of course, there are good reasons conservatives oppose expanding the government, as the pending health legislation would do, even if it adds nothing to the deficit. But anyone who voted for the drug benefit, especially someone who switched his vote to make its enactment possible, has zero credibility. People like Franks ought to have the decency to keep their mouths shut forever when it comes to blaming anyone else for increasing the national debt.

Franks is not alone among Republicans for whom fiscal responsibility never consists of anything other than talk. The worst, undoubtedly, is DeLay, who actually went so far as to attack Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., last year for his principled vote against the drug benefit, one of only nine Republican senators to do so. (By my count, there are still 24 Republicans in the Senate who voted for the drug benefit, including such alleged conservatives as Jim Bunning and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, John Cornyn of Texas, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Orrin Hatch of Utah and Jon Kyl of Arizona.)

Amazingly, leading Republicans still defend the drug benefit. Just the other day, former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., celebrated its passage, and at a recent American Enterprise Institute forum, former House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas, R-Calif., berated me for criticizing it. In each case, their main argument was that it ended up costing a little less than originally projected. Somehow, I doubt that Frist or Thomas would feel the same way if their wives thought it was OK to buy a closet full of expensive new shoes just because they were on sale.

I don’t mean to suggest that Democrats are any better when it comes to the deficit, although they have a better case for saying so based on the contrasting fiscal records of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. The national debt belongs to both parties. But at least the Democrats don’t go on Fox News day after day proclaiming how fiscally conservative they are, and organize tea parties to rant about deficits, without ever putting forward any plan for reducing them. Nor do they pretend that they have no responsibility whatsoever for projected deficits, at least half of which can be traced directly to Republican policies, according to Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag.

It astonishes me that a party enacting anything like the drug benefit would have the chutzpah to view itself as fiscally responsible in any sense of the term. As far as I am concerned, any Republican who voted for the Medicare drug benefit has no right to criticize anything the Democrats have done in terms of adding to the national debt. Space prohibits listing all their names, but the final Senate vote can be found here and the House vote here.

Anonymous. Primary Colors: A Novel of Politics. New York: Random House, 1996

<del datetime="2009-11-20T15:00:33+00:00">Joe Klein</del> Anonymous tells a story through the eyes of <del datetime="2009-11-20T15:00:33+00:00">George Stephanopoulis </del>Henry Barton, a campaign aide for Southern governor <del datetime="2009-11-20T15:00:33+00:00">Bill Clinton </del>Jack Stanton, during the primaries of a fictional presidential election. It really is a novel of politics, as the campaign itself grows to be the main character.

And I couldn’t be more ambivalent about it.

Because Klein, er, Anonymous has clearly had a political “in,” the story is engaging, nuanced, and probably more realistic than nonfictional accounts of campaigns. But because the campaign, as mentioned, is the main character, and I knew going into the book that it was loosely based off the first Clinton campaign, I knew how it was going to end. I found myself searching for something more in the book, say, character development, relationship dynamics, or romance. And actually, the book does include these things, but not enough to keep me engaged. In other words, I was bored.

Therefore, it took me three months to finish a 366 easy-read novel. I voluntarily chose library science reading over Primary Colors…That’s actually not a very good insult; I read non-assigned library science journals all the time.

I thought I would be young enough to really get something out of the story because I was, I think, six years old during the Clinton campaign—too young to have a clue what was going on. But I also grew up with Clinton. I was the generation that Clinton supposedly brought “oral sex” into our vocabulary, even though I’m pretty sure I was well versed in sexual lexis from riding the school bus, completely unrelated to the Clinton scandals. My point is that I knew him better than I thought. To some of the younger Millennials, this may be a valuable read, like if I were to read a novel based off of Jimmy Carter or Reagan.

All in all, I give it a “hmm…meh.”

We’ve shown you the look of a discernmentalist. Now we present to you—with our Absolute Truthiness—the look of a heretic. Now you will be able to tell when a liebral is in your vicinity trying to corrupt your Pure Doctrines. Our resident Redneck GOIPer has more to add with his 9 Steps To Identify Liberals:

I have already stated that liberals are killing this country, but it is quite hard to tell a liberal from a normal God Loving American. I have developed this simple system to help us weed out the good guys from the bad guys (liberals). I call it my Liberal Identification System (LIS).

1. Minorities. Don’t ask me why, but the vast majority of niggersblacks and chinksasians vote Democrat, and therefore they are making their liberal bias known to the rest of the world. I have talked to them, but these people are just plain stupid! They cannot understand for example the greatness of the war in Iraq, and are focused on WMD rather than the larger plan. So point one in the Liberal Identification System is to write off minorities as liberals. They are really not worth our time. After all, there is a reason that the founding fathers made the White House white.

2. French. French people are probably some of the most arrogant and ungrateful people in the world. They would speaking German right now it it were not for us. And how do they pay us back? They defied Saint Bush in the run up for the Iraqi War. It is unbelievable to me that after 5 years after the war began, they still cannot see the wisdom of the war. French people must be blind or stupid, but either way, one thing is clear, they are liberals.

3. People with accents. I just got back from Europe, and they all tried to speak to me in English. Despite their efforts, their English was HORRIBLE. They really need to practice more if they ever want to get in good with me and other conservatives. Plus you know that God speaks English perfectly. Heck, I don’t even think that God can understand some of these retard Europeans.

When I was in the airports in Europe, I noticed one thing right away. You don’t have to remove your shoes at airport security. These people are clueless. Removing our shoes is like a ritual to fight away terrorists and evil. It is a communion against terrorism. Since we have started removing our shoes at the airport, has there been another 9/11? Case closed. I felt like teaching them the American way, but I knew they would never understand. Why? Because they are all liberals.

4. College Professors. This is a special and perhaps the most dangerous breed of liberals because they are educating our young people. That’s the scary part. They devise these wicked curriculums, and the underlying goal is to get young people to think and use logic undermining key Republican and conservative ideals

Think about this. Many of Saint Bush’s economic advisers come from American universities. And these liberals are piping the same old lies. Our economy is in recession, the dollar is weak, the price of oil is rising, and federal spending is out of control. It makes me laugh. We all know the truth. Our economy is strong, the dollar is strong, price of gas is falling, and Saint Bush’s government is the most frugal in the world. There is only one conclusion to make. College professors are liberals.

5. Charities. Is there any doubt that Bill Gates is a liberal? He quits his day job to give away his money to improve world health. This is such a stupid idea I am not sure where to start. If I had that kind of dough, I would stop working so I could have more time to spend it. I really wish that Gates had called me, because I could have found a lot more fun ways to spend his money.

Worse yet. World health? I have already demonstrated that non Americans are liberals. So why in the world would we want to help them? In a subtle way, Gates is aiding the enemy by helping non Americans. Ultimately, Gates will get his punishment, but either way, charities such as these are chock full of bleeding heart liberals. They are probably the worst kind.

6. Non Christians – God doesn’t like non Christians and God does not like liberals either. Don’t you see that the two go together? God sent down his one and only son to save the world, and these non Christians are choosing to ignore God’s generosity. There is only one place for these people in God’s eyes, and in my eyes too.

7. Immigrants. Just another bunch of free loading poor people that don’t speak English. They want us to treat them as equals. HAHAHA. Fat chance, hermano. You guys need to go back to your disgusting little country, enter legally, get a legal American job, learn English, pay taxes, and maybe just maybe, we will treat you with a certain level of respect. Furthermore, any sign that you also might be a liberal, and your butt is out of here. Got that, Pedro?

8. Writers. What does the liberal media consist of? Writers. Lots of them. I know this is a slippery slope, because not all writers are liberals, but almost all of them are. It is a fair bet that if someone is writing a piece and it is not for Fox News, then they are feeding the liberal media machine. If it were not for the liberal media, our soldiers would be home, and the war of terror would be won. The war of terror is a war of emboldenment, and every slimy piece they write further emboldens the enemy. Remember Abu Ghraib? Of course you do, and so do the terrorist. What about Guantanomo Bay? The liberal media keeps on printing this stuff, and we will never win the war on terror, and our children will never be safe.

9. Hollywood. We have a dilemma as conservatives. I like my action movies as much as the next guy, but the people behind these films are liberals with a capital L. I have actually considered boycotting movies but it just isn’t any fun, even though every time I know that I am putting more money in a liberal’s pocket. Why can’t someone come out with some great movies by conservatives? Enough is enough already.

After having traveled Europe, there is one thing that is clear. The world is full of liberals. So this is just a humble beginning at weeding out the good people from the bad. God’s job is much easier figuring out who does to heaven or hell.
