Legendary New York hardcore heroes BIOHAZARD – in its original line up – have announced they will return with a brand new studio album in summer of 2010.

Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Danny Schuler and Bobby Hambel are set to enter a Los Angeles’ Underground Sounds Studio on January 19th to commence working on the album. This will be the first time the four original members have recorded together since 1996’s breakthrough “State Of The World Address”.

Bassist Evan Seinfeld states, “BIOHAZARD and our four diverse, yet equal and integral parts converge upon our LA Underground Sound studio and resurrect our patented ‘meat grinder’ writing process. Each guy brings something – riffs, lyrics, concepts, songs, melodies, chants – and we get in a room and hammer it out.

I have personally missed this process over the last years but having Bobby back in the band has brought back some extra fire that has helped remind all of us what the Brooklyn style is all about. The process is exhausting, humbling, magical and empowering all at the same time. One of the songs we wrote in our first ‘round’ of this battle, ‘Vengeance Is Mine’, we just played in all of Europe, London, and Moscow and went over so well live, that I am sure we are on the right track.”

BIOHAZARD has just finished a 22 month reunion world tour where the band played 100+ shows on five continents. Starting with their self-titled 1990 debut, BIOHAZARD released eight acclaimed studio albums which have sold over three million copies worldwide. During that time, the band was also featured prominently on two revered, Gold-certified compilations: Nativity in Black: A Tribute to Black Sabbath—they were represented with the album-opening cover of “After Forever”—and the groundbreaking soundtrack to the film Judgment Night, for which they provided the title track (a collaboration with the rap group Onyx). Known for their incendiary live show, the band has performed over 3200 shows in their career.

The currently untitled album is set for release in summer of 2010. The world tour will commence in April 2010 and will last through late 2011.

Good question.

Although I cannot lay claim to having a definitive answer on their motivations, Apple recently made waves with regards to computer warranties. According to reports from Apple customers, the company is sticking to their claim that smoking (cigarettes, pipes, cigars etc) within the vicinity of their laptop and desktop computers nullifies the computer warranties.

Does this make sense? Is Steve Jobs trying to be funny and nobody has realized the joke yet?

Before going any further, I should preface that I myself am not a smoker and am using my own personal Macbook Pro to write this post. Therefore, I have not developed a nervous tick while writing AND taking a drag for a nicotine fix. However, with that said, I think Apple is wadding into dangerous waters with this mysterious warrant voiding policy. I have elaborated on my reasoning below:

> Where is the evidence of a DIRECT link between smoke (casual, not as in a building fire) damage and Apple product destruction?

> As indicated by Apple owners who have contacted Apple, why is there no mention of this policy in the warrant materials?

> If smoke is so harmful towards Apple computers, why aren’t a plethora of other substances cited in warranty material as being capable of nullifying warranties?

(When was the last time you read a car warranty stating the radio, navigation system or the power door locks would be harmed by the act of smoking AND consequently nullify the warranty??)

> If Apple begins enacting and enforcing this mysterious policy, will it set a precedent for all computer manufacturers?

Smoking is harmful to humans, this has been scientifically proven through numerous scientific outlets. Computers however are not made of flesh and blood. I am wary of Apple’s motivations behind such a policy that seems to be cloaked in mystery. The company is not needing to pinch pennies by voided warranties as Apple’s profits have been riding high recently. So what gives? Is this an attempt to send a statement to their customers that they should change some of the choices they make, such as lighting up? I am curious for an answer. I am not Steve Jobs and neither can I try to formulate the exact motivations behind Apple’s decision to enforce this move. As an Apple customer, the move seems misguided as the intent is unclear and potentially invasive on customers personal lives and the decisions they chose to make.

I hope the air will be cleared on this topic when Apple is more forthcoming about the influence of smoking on its products.

I’ll say this for myself: I find a way to like people.

For example, I’m not a huge fan of Big Business. Nothing personal; they just don’t do it for me (and I loooove me some Karp, strangely). Then they backed The Melvins on a tour and I HAD to at least give them props for bolstering King Buzzo and Dale Crover with extra punch, but still I found something missing from their albums.

Then I saw White Shit’s Sculpted Beef in a record store the other day and took a chance because the cover is probably the funniest I’ve seen since, oh, one of the Nofx jackets … Anyway, turns out I like this. A lot.

This isn’t actually a Big Business-conceived outing — Wrangler Brutes/Monorchid/Skull Kontrol mastermind Andy Coronado — but when I hear Jared Warren sing I think Big Business and that’s all there is to it, so we’ll go forward with that weighing heavily on our minds, or something …

Anyhoo, I’m hearing a lot of interesting wrinkles in these songs, up to and including:

• Hot, molten-metal guitar leads like the ones you’ll find bunkered deep in Tank records;
• Poison Idea-style punk-ish madness;
• screeching hardcore circa early AFI or Biohazard;
• some Dead Low Tide-esque surrealist freak-rock;
• math-y passages that remind me of no band in particular;

And so on, so forth and so whathefuck, this is a fucking-great record that once again justifies my theory: If the cover art is good you’ve got about 74 percent odds of snagging a winner no matter — or maybe because of — how old, obscure or weird it is.

The grand trend of gay cover art/lyrics/band names/labels in indie-rock — Pansy Division, Roddy Bottum, Hidden Cameras, Gay Tastee, Art Fag Records, Fag Tapes — continues unabated, and I must say, every time I see gayness of any sort — or female nudity, my preference — on the jacket I know I’ve got a winner!

what’s been up recently?  well, things have been getting better since my little relapse, so that’s good.  i’ve been able to do a little mantra meditation and such to get me back in-tuned and grounded again.  also been reading some “happy books”.  yeah…  counselor recommended a few books for me to pick up, so i thought, eh.  why not give it a shot.  plus i haven’t done any reading in FOREVER, so it’s good to get back into it.  i’m just so glad my stupid episode is over and i can get back to taking care of myself and my family.

speaking of family, so beni moved!  ok.  he kinda did.  he moved to his brother’s old room and it’s AWESOME!  it’s so much bigger than his old room.  hell, it’s even bigger than MY room!  we got pretty much all the furniture in the new room, just gotta finish moving all his clothes and such.  there’s so much space there now we can just sprawl out on the floor and chill..which we do.  x3  and gaming is more enjoyable too.  we aren’t dangerously close to the tv anymore so our eyes can endure even longer gaming sessions.  hahaha…  which is good because a lot of good games just came out.  uncharted 2, assassin’s creed 2, modern warfare 2…just noticed these are all sequels.  funny..  anyway, a lot of good games!  here’s how we celebrated the move:

mmm…we DO enjoy the bubblies!  and check out the totally cute purple micro-plush throw beni got for me for the move.  i LOVE it!!!  it’s so soft!!  <33  i think i’m doing what elliot from scrubs did at the end of the series.  i think i’m secretly moving into beni’s place.  haha.  i think that’s just me hoping that one day beni asks me to move in with him.  maybe one day…  ^^;

on the 17th, i met my nutritionist for the free food program i signed up for.  it was pretty cool talking about my current diet and how i can improve it for my health.  she said that i could keep with my vegitarian diet which rocks!  but i have to drink…*gulps*…milk…  ugh!  i’m serious, that shit is nasty.  i’ve been downing it with chocolate syrup and vanilla extract and i still can’t stand it.  i’m glad i only have to drink it half the time.  man…why can’t soy milk be included in the program??  ;A;  speaking of healthy eating, beni just wowed me recently by hitting up a veggie patty sub at subway recently:

oh my brave man!  i still find it funny that he chose it out of the blue.  i assumed he would’ve ordered something more…dead.  but he enjoyed it and he even said he’d eat it again.  now if i can get him to eat at least a tomato slice…hmm…  baby steps!  also, i went to tijuana flats for the first time yesterday.  it was actually REALLY good.  i had a veggie soft taco and i wanted MORE.  maybe we can go sometime again soon.  we went to the one on this plaza called village place off montague street.  very nice place.  i wish i can get a flat there!

ooo!  and i just got in a few goodies!  i’m so excited for them!

after my favourite ahnk necklace broke a year or so ago, i’ve been going through so many different necklaces to fill the void.  i’ve had a lot but none stuck it out long enough.  the ones made of metal eventually rusted, my hemp ones broke, and my favourite necklace that tita modie gave me is now scattered all over beni’s floor.  ;A;  i finally just decided to go online and just search.  i looked through so many online stores to find SOMETHING that would just call out to me.  there were a few that were begging me to buy them, and i still just might do that, but i finally came across this lovely om necklace that said, “hey, raven.  you know i’m the one for you!”  it’s a lovely little pewter om that i found in a store on ebay.  my last necklace (the ahnk) was pewter too, so i think this was somehow destined.  ^^  and it was surprisingly really inexpensive!  the ones that i kept looking over that i loved were a bit pricey.  around the 40 and up range which i usually don’t mind considering my favourite ahnk necklace of all time was around 70, but this little guy was under 6 dollars!  EEE!!!  and it looks SOOOO much cuter than it’s picture online!  <33  ॐ

i also just got in the crystal wands i ordered earlier in the week.  they are so beautiful!  i was so afraid the ones the lady would pick out for me would be really pale coloured ones, but these are just..uhhh!!!  i love them!  also, the seller sent a tumbled moonstone and aventurine as a free gift!!  i can’t wait to use them all!

Resident Evil 5 (o Biohazard, si les gusta más) es el último juego de la saga que salió para PC, PS3 y Xbox 360 este año. Más precisamente voy a hacer un review del port para computadora que se lanzó en Septiembre de este mismo año.

Historia

Una vez más, como en el primer juego de la saga, volveremos a manejar al amigo Chris Redfield, ahora miembro de la BSAA, una organización formada por muchos miembros de entregas anteriores con el fin de eliminar amenazas bioterroristas en todo el mundo.
Esta vez, el problema va a centrarse en África, donde la BSAA mandará unos equipos para investigar un nuevo caso. Chris va a decidir unirse a la expedición, donde va a conocer a la segunda protagonista del juego, Sheva Alomar, con quien vamos a manejarnos de manera cooperativa durante todo el juego.

Vamos a ver flashbacks del pasado de Chris en otras misiones de la BSAA y tambien vamos a saber que fue de Jill Valentine.

La nueva amenaza va a ser muy parecida a la ya vista en Resident Evil 4, aquel virus llamado “Las Plagas”. Los nuevos enemigos estan infectados por algo muy parecido, así que si buscan zombies, estan en el lugar equivocado.

Para mi suerte y la de muchos, nuestro enemigo en esta entrega va a ser nada más ni nada menos que Albert Wesker, antiguo capitán de los S.T.A.R.S., ex-miembro de la ahora inexistente Umbrella y enemigo más importante de toda la saga. Si jugaron Resident Evil Code: Veronica, podrán haber visto que ya en ese juego, Chris se enfrentó a Wesker, sobreviviendo (de suerte) en la isla Rockfort despues de salvar a su hermana Claire.

Sobre los enemigos, claro que no tendremos solo a Wesker. Pero no voy a decir quienes son sus aliados ya que no quiero arruinar sorpresas (??).

Gráficos

Los gráficos quizás sean el factor más importante del juego. Ya saben, es un juego que está para las últimas consolas. De hecho, no puede portearse a Wii debido a los grandes requerimientos gráficos que tiene. Y también por el hecho de que la Wii es una mala consola y poner un juego con sangre haría llorar a todos los nenes de 10 años que se compran la consola para jugar al Mario y juegos parecidos.

Las luces, las sombras, las escenas de acción, todo está perfectamente cuidado, y yo tuve la suerte de poder jugarlo con todas las configuraciones al máximo. Los detalles de algunos enemigos eran increibles, sobretodo de los jefes.
La verdad, no puedo criticar nada.

Jugabilidad

La pregunta básica sería… ¿Jugaste Resident Evil 4?. Si la respuesta es sí, entonces no vas a tardar mucho en adaptarte al sistema de juego. Es básicamente lo mismo, con la diferencia de pequeños cambios como el detalle de que al poner el menú el juego no se detiene, así que mientras elegís tu arma un enemigo puede tranquilamente atacarte.

También vamos a ver este sistema cooperativo en el que tu compañera Sheva va a pelear a tu lado, van a compartir items y todo eso. Al principio es un poco molesto, pero despues empezás a amar la puntería de la inteligencia artificial.

La música casi no se hace notar. Sin embargo, el apartado de sonidos o la ambientación sí. No hay ninguna canción que pueda mencionar especialmente (excepto esta, porque pega para el modo de juego), sin embargo, las que suenan en los combates con jefes (sin mencionar ninguna en especial) suelen ser bastante buenas.

Puntaje: 6/10

En definitiva, tenemos un juego muy parecido al anterior en cuanto a gameplay, quizás mejores personajes y una historia más importante, ya que podría decirse que “cierra” con todo lo que vimos en la saga. Podría haber sido tranquilamente el final de la misma. Buenos gráficos, música decente pero no buena y una duración relativamente corta (entre 8 y 10 horas sin contar los modos que se desbloquean al pasarlo).

Yo llevo 18 horas, habiendo desbloqueado todos los personajes en The Mercenaries y haciendo un re-play para conseguir armas con munición ilimitada. Pero de hecho si, es muy corto y eso quizás sea molesto.

Puntaje final: 7.5 8

Buen juego solo si te gustaron los otros. Me pareció mejor que el 4, pero no es para nada superior a los tres primeros.

I finished the game on my PS3 last week and now is the time to write my personal opinion to the game, the story plot, its replay factor and its greatness. It’s not only a successor to the new gameplay of the predecessor: It’s once more another great game in  the Resident Evil series since part 2 came out. Sure, it has its weak points in story telling but is in fact worth to be the final chapter of the franchise. I take a look at the less changed gameplay and the graphical difference between X360, PS3 and PC port. And I tell you why I think that Resident Evil 5 has one of the worst story plots of the entire series.

Gameplay

What was changed compared to Resident Evil 4? The answer is as simple as the gameplay itself: Not much.
You move your character with the left stick and rotate the camera with the right stick. By pushing and hold a button you get your weapon or knife ready and a simple bush on the action button fires your gun. Like in the predecessor is it not possible to run and gun or to reload while taking cover or dodging enemies. New to the camera and the movement this time is the side-step and fixed camera movement.You can now look up and down and hold the camera in the desired position and releasing the stick does not set the camera back to default. Lets take a game like Gears of War or Uncharted in wich you could take cover behind every wall. Resident Evil 5 has this cover system too, but only at walls where the game allows the player to take cover. If someone has trouble with the new controls, then it’s wisely to choose the default Re4 setting.

Graphics

There is no difference between the graphics of the PS3 version compared with the X360 Demo version, besides that the X360 Graphicschip does feature AntiAliasing and the PS3 chip does not. People who own the PC version will get the full potential of the graphics engine, but more about the PC port later in this review. I can’t remember games in wich you could see this high level of detail on characters, the enviroment and NPCs at the same time. Okay, that is a lie, because I forgot that I have played MGS4, the Killzone 2 and the Uncharted 2 Demo and Resident Evil 5 only features 720, not 1080p HD. But we cant get everything, am I right?. It’s by far the best graphic you will see on a console game.
In the beginning of the game do you have the chance to walk around inside a part of a city in wich the inhabitants do their daily business. You come across a corner in wich – oh – you need to see this by yourself (I hope you own a FullHD TV like I do): You think that the person you meet there does really stare at your in reality and wishes you to die right here and now through his eyes.

Not without my partner!

One of my dreams comes true. If you dont know what I am going to say then hold on: 2 player co-op gameplay! It’s finally possible to play through a Resident Evil game with another player in split screen or over internet and doing crazy co-op stuff like pushing switches together, sharing the solving of a puzzle and to survive the fight against bloodthirsty zombies and mutants together! It’s not only that: You need to take care of your partner in dangerous situations and helping him out if a monster holds him tight. You shoot together, you heal each other, you need to push the right buttons in quick-time events together and if you play as Chris then you always have a nice view on his partners butt.
Sheva Alomar is her name, and she can make you crazy if you play with her controled by the partner-AI through the singleplayer. In the singleplayer part you can set the partner-AI to Cover-Mode (stand by me and follow my footsteps) and Attack-Mode (run like hell and shoot at everything that looks like an enemy). While she is a good girl on Cover-Mode, she is in reverse  a very aggressive girl in Attack-Mode that often ran into a bulk of enemies and get hit. Take care using the Attack-Mode. But besides that small weak point is your AI-partner always as good as a real player.

Never port a console game to a PC, please!

The PC port of Resident Evil 4 really was a painfull experience and gets a high place in my hall of fame for worst ports followed by Metal Gear Solid 2 and Silent Hill Homecoming. Does it happen to the Re5 port aswell? I talk about worst graphics, controls out-of-order, a lot game crashes and bad sound output. Please stop holding your breath because the Resident Evil 5 PC port is an epic success! Better graphics, better controls (thanks mouse support) and you dont have to buy the Versus-Mode because it’s included for free! I always said that a Resident Evil game belongs to a console, but my opinion has changed since the gameplay has changed this dramatically between Re3 and Re4. If you dont own Re5 for a console yet, then buy the PC port. It’s worth every cent!

What about the story?

Let me say it this way: Every Resident Evil game had a better story plot as part 5 has. I miss the emotional connection between the characters. They are just meet each other and have a quick chat about their reasons to join in the fight against bio-terrorists. Chris may be meets a person he thought is dead and does not give her a close and personal hug after rescuing her. There are no detailed reason how Excella and Wesker met. The only thing that the story writers thought was: “Just give the players heroic characters that dont have any interesting character”. But this is japan, man! If you believe that japanese story writers can create in deep characters, then you are wrong. Unless they are Hideo Kojima.

What about multiple run-throughs?

Every trophie and achievement hunter will be happy with Resident Evil 5. There are over 50 trophies/achievements available for your Gamer ID/Gamertag and several bonus content unlockable in the game itself. You can collect money and bonus-points through the game and purchase new weapons/upgrades and unlocking the mentioned bonus content with it. 50 treasures wait for you to get discovered and the mini-game from Re4 is back, too. This time you have to find 30 emblems that are well hidden inside the enviroment. Find each to unlock even more bonus content! Reach the best rank in every chapter (S-Ranking) if you want to. Hit Accuracy, your playtime and the amount of killed enemies for each chapter are the requirements this time. You also have to complete all chapters in the game under 5 hours to get the beloved Infinite Rocket-Launcher. I dont need to mention the mercenaries Mini-Game, do I?

It does not matter if you are a fan of the series or not. Just buy the game and have a great time. Alone, in splitscreen or online.

Hablando de temas apocalípticos (con mi post crítica acerca de 2012), me encuentro con esta pregunta en Yahoo Answers que, al menos al leerla, me parece una maravilla, sobre todo porque el sujeto que la plantea seguro sí está hablando enserio. Y la respuesta no tiene precio…

Con el 20º aniversario de la banda de Brooklyn, en el que realizará una gira de conciertos, os dejo un video que, para mí, significo mucho en su día. Era el año 1993. En donde vivía teníamos la MTV y mi hermano mayor me dijo que le grabara en video un programa que daban los domingos por la noche, se llamaba “Headbangersball”. Por entonces, lo más “macarra” que escuchaba era “Police”. Al día siguiente, cuando llegué de clase, puse el video para ver qué era lo que mi hermano había querido que le grabara.

Observé el programa entero y, desde entonces, escucho lo que escucho gracias a ese programa. Quedé alucinado con lo que vi.  Este video me parece una gozada dieciséis años después. Los “Biohazard” se convirtieron en una de mis bandas favoritas y en este video les podemos ver en estado puro. Ahora, el cantante Evan Seinfeld está entre la música y el cine porno pero sigue haciendo cosas.

Vårt Oz-maraton fortsätter. Redan från början skulle Adebisis visa sig vara sambons favoritkuk. En kort period tog Jaz Hoyt över, men efter att Messa googlat fram uppgifterna om att Evan Seinfeld, som spelar Hoyt, gått och gift sig med vuxenfilmsaktrisen Tera Patrick samt gjort henne sällskap i karriären under namnet Spyder Jones så sjönk hans drule uppenbarligen i aktning för nu är det Adebisi som gäller igen. Trots att han faktiskt (nu är det en spoiler alert här, men det var så länge sen serien gick att jag faktiskt skiter i det) har hunnit bli mulad redan.

Ryan O’Reillys och, lite otippat, Gamle Vern Schillingers utväxter går tydligen också an, medan Bob Rebadows och unterariern Robsons inte alls står högt i kurs. Jag har också fått lära mig att min röv liknar Kellers, fast jag förstod aldrig riktigt varför.
