BOSTON (CBS) – To mark the one month anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, Boston police officers were ordered to remove the black mourning bands from their badges.

The order was for the removal of the bands at exactly 2:50 p.m. At that point, officers also observed a moment of silence and the department’s flags were returned to full staff.

There did appear to be some confusion over the removal of the band, with some officers saying they hadn’t been informed of the order.

<img src="http://cbsboston.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/flags.jpg?w=100&h=150" alt="Flags raised to full staff.
Officers have worn the morning bands over their badges to honor the three victims killed and more than 200 who were injured in the explosions that occurred at 2:50 p.m. on April 15 near the marathon finish line.

Oh my. Normally, I wouldn’t post any dude to my Powder Girl of the Day post for obvious reasons. But this dude–Big Freedia–because of his gigantic entertainment value and the tiny little fact that he’s a big-assed, cross dressing, freaky-deaky, New Orleans rapping phenom, made me change my mind. He is a mix between DC Go-Go (Like Rare Essence without the horns and drums), funk and 80′s hip-hop and I was utterly intrigued. Firstly, the reason I’m writing this post to begin with is because he was here in my neck of the woods in Durham, NC and I fuckin’ missed the show! Now, before I picked up The Independent–a little offbeat news and entertainment paper for the RTP, North Carolina area–and started flipping though the pages, I had no idea who this dude was. I just knew I wanted something to do. I read a little article about him and knew I wanted to see him perform. Unfortunately, the show was YESTERDAY! After I had completed my Charlie Brown Arrrrggggghhhh moment, I Googled him, went to his site and was frustrated anew that I had missed this performance. Don’t be like me people, be in the know. Go to his website and check out his tour dates. Here’s the link: Big Freedia’s Tour Schedule and Get Yo’ Freak On!

Ashley and Steve’s reception was sleek, elegant, and classy. They used white and black for their linens and brought in touches of red. Their centerpieces were simple, but unique. They alternated glass candle arrangements and floral arrangements which gave the room more color. A custom monogram displayed their names and wedding date, and was displayed on the wall above the head table.

We provided white stretch chair covers with black stretch bands for all of the guest tables, and then black stretch chair covers with white bands for the head table. It created a focus and drew attention to the wedding party.

Ashley and Steve’s wedding party was pretty big, so the head table was setup in a ’U.’ It was later broken down to make more room for dancing. The uplighting looked amazing! We did an amber color around the entire room and added a few red accent lights.

Their 3-tiered cake went perfectly with the rest of the decor in the room. Ashley and Steve cut their cake immediately following dinner to “Sugar Sugar” by the Archies. We hope that Ashley and Steve, along with their guests, had a great time out on the dance floor! Best of luck to Steve and Ashley Kennedy!

Canal+ has always been committed to cinema. It is more than a mere broad- caster. It has always sought to go the extra mile for its subscribers and portray the film industry as no one else has done: emphasising the diversity of the genres, deciphering current and future trends, empowering actors and directors, and in general, transmitting the passion of all those who work in the film industry to its subscribers.
Thanks to its varied and cutting-edge program- ming – from blockbus- ters to art films. Thanks to the unique, quality insight that it provides into what goes on in front and behind the camera. Thanks to the unique ties that it maintains with the film industry (Studio CANAL, partnerships, financing, Cannes Festival, the César awards, etc.).
Canal+ and BETC have now come up with a film, The Bear, to remind audiences of the channel’s continuing commitment: to transmit the passion of film- making to its subscribers.
The more you watch Canal+, the more you love cinema.
To make this film, BETC chose to work with Matthjis van Heijningen, who also directed The Closet, which was the most awarded film in 2010 (The Gunn Report).
The tone remains unique, enhanced by the use of 3D to make the bear as expressive as possible. The same creative team, which worked on The Closet, Éric Astorgue and Jean-Christophe Royer, under the supe vision of President and Chief Creative Officer of BETC, Stéphane Xiberras, once again contribute to the distinguishing tone that is so familiar about the ma- jor advertising campaigns of Canal+.
