Hi, ladies! Normally, we at Yazzie & Co. would dish on latest ways to be a fly and fabulous bride. This time around, we’re going to get in the true spirit of the season by having you give back. That’s right; instead of salivating over the spectacular gifts that you’re going to get this year, why not channel that same energy into treating the sistas in your life? Not only will they appreciate this gesture from your heart, you’ll also feel great about making them smile. If you’re not sure how to go about that, keep reading for some great ideas from yours truly.

Chances are that you’ve been driving your maid of honor up the wall while planning your wedding. And as great a best friend or sister as she’s been to you, we’re pretty she’d love you even more for showing her how much you appreciate her being there. So, what better way to do that than to give her a lovely jewelry keepsake? We personally think that she’d really appreciate a pretty pair of pearl earrings from Macy’s.

Perhaps, your Thank You list has extended to every bridesmaid in your party. After all, they’ve weathered the craziness that is planning your wedding, so it’s only fair that they receive lovely tokens of appreciation. You’ll definitely score a home run by gifting them with Yazzie & Co.’s bridal t-shirts. Not to toot our own horn, but they’ll appreciate the sass and the soulfulness that they’ve got to offer!

Then again, you may want to take some time out of your bridal organizing schedule to pay homage to the woman that has raised you from girl to woman this season. While Mom may be proud to see her baby walk down the aisle, we’re certain that she’d adore you even more if you presented her with a gift of love. So, why not go the extra mile by treating her to a mother-daughter spa day at The Back Room? You’ll be able to bond over the exquisite treatments while sharing in your sisterhood.

With a few great gift ideas on your list, you ought to be ready to hit the scene for some last-minute holiday shopping. Even better, you’ll be able to treat all the ladies in your life who’ve made it this far with you as you prepare to start your new life. You’re blessed with the gift of sisterhood and we encourage you to celebrate that this season.

Wishing you a Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and a Wonderful New Year,

Projektbeschreibung:
“SCHWARZE DEUTSCHE SPOKEN WORD PERFORMANCE FUER RESPEKT!”

Schwarzen Deutschen Internationalen Literaturwettbewerb in Gedenken an May Ayim ins Leben gerufen.

I am wondering what to wear on my birthday? I always have this all black style for a long time already & quit the colorful attire & retain the very colorful accessories to match!!! I found this good outfit mixed with gray white & my black. I found my self picking it & add on my closet. Generally who doesnt want a happy color? Im not even an EMO. I am always a happy person. I want fun & most especially colors. Maybe as I aged, Im afraid to try new bold color and worry that it might not compliment to my body anymore. Im trying to fix this problem by working out, but it will took me a long time until I recover. Im happy with the development. I still like daring black and I will never forget adding that fashion to my senses. I love playing up w/ fashion Accessorize is my thing!!!

sleeveless

How black is black? How dark is black? There’s no apparent fix explanation to this. Its classic. Its more versatile. So strike-anywhere-style. It fits me.

my closet all black

But this time , Ill be more open to some color streaks to my black. A fun happy black that I can wear anytime & anywhere.

Schwarze Kultur in Hamburg Motto 2009: Gemeinsam gegen Aids / Sida

AIDS / HIV – Wir reden darüber / We talk about it / Nous en parlons – Verantwortung für uns und andere!

Afrika in Hamburg.

In August 2009 the German Black Community gathers again to see and define what Schwarze Deutsche can mean. Looking for the newest trends in Activities and success stories to share and distribute knowledge of oppression and liberation. The social networks of a virtual community brought together by the outside pressure of racism in Germany are exchanged for family ties having grown since 1985 and welcome to new community members are extended.
Black People from Africa, Israel, Brazil, Swiss, The Netherland, Austria or Black Europe in General as well as from around the Global Black Atlantic tend to drop in for an extended stay, to promote their projects or just a short visit.
Over the years new generations have grown and partly even already grown up to participate with the energy of knowledge that their parents already were activists. Most come to party and chill in an enviroment were white mainstream isn´t determining the rules of who is beautiful and who isn´t. With the rise of Black Germans or Afro Deutsche being the new IN Topic of Academic Research in the US of A the Black German Community from overseas represented by the Black Germans in the USA are becoming more and more curious and professionally interested.

And so is the white mainstream interested in deconstructing its own perspective in Critical Whiteness Studies. The questions we encountered when we were doing our shit in the 80ties definitely are changing, at least so in the major cities. And still so much groundwork has to be done over and over again. So it should be another interesting meeting coming up @ Bundestreffen 2009.

Just when I thought I had seen it all when it came to the world of Reality television I have found out today that I was sadly mistaken. Yep, that’s right the world of reality television has sank to a new low as a Racine, Illinois woman says she was just “playing the game” when a cable reality show offered to pay for her wedding if she acted like an out of control bride for the cameras. The Reality show is known as Bridezilla and is a show that I regularly hope my wife skips right on past. Well the woman is now facing some jail time for her behaviors.

The woman, Karee Gibson, stated that she thought the show would be a nice opportunity for the 21 year old to demonstrate her acting skills because apparently she had aspirations of being an actress. Gibson’s claim now is that her bad behavior on the show was all an act and tried backing this statement up with the obvious, “I’m not like that at all…”

Here is where it gets interesting in that Gibson is on probation for a fight she got into back in high school and according to her parole officer the behavior is a direct violation of her parole. There I sat watching her interview as Gibson tried playing the innocent victim card.

At first I believed her that possibly she was the victim until there was mention of the probation. Why is it that we live in a world where people are too weak-minded that they cannot take responsibility for their own actions? Gibson tried justifying her actions by talking about how her wedding would be paid for and though she states this is not her nature to act in this manner, well Gibson’s past tells otherwise. I say throw the book at her, give her what she deserves because obviously she didn’t learn from her first incident. Congratulations Ms. Karee Gibson, you are more of a dumb ass than Trina Thompson!

Wow! Not even one day after writing about racial profiling and blacks who side with whites being labeled as an “Uncle Tom”, news broke on Yahoo! about the black sergeant, Sgt. Leon Lashley, earning his claim to fame with this label. That’s right he has been added to the list of “Uncle Tom’s” throughout the United States all because he supported an officer who was doing his job.

Apparently the officer gave a letter to the white officer, Sgt. James Crowley, to give to President Obama during the so-called beer summit with Gates, Obama and Crowley. I wonder what Obama is thinking about this. Especially in that Obama commented on how stupid the actions were by the police department. What a mess Obama is in, no wonder why his numbers keep dropping like the Chicago Cubs come September.

Well it seems that racial profiling has surfaced again thanks in large part to the Gates fiasco fueled by President Obama’s comments and I want to announce that I too am a victim of racial profiling. I thought the election of 2008 was a sign of our country moving past racism, boy was I wrong. Now I am a victim, that’s right I am the innocent victim of merely being Caucasian and posting my picture on this site. I was called prejudice by a commenter and feel this was only because of the picture posted beside any comment I leave.

The logic behind this is if the picture had not been readily available then the person responding to my post would have had no idea what to base their opinion of my skin upon. The respondent could have easily imagined me as any person of a different ethnicity other than black. What if I was Islamic, or Hispanic? Of course what would the respondent have done if I was black, call me an “Uncle Tom”? The answers are unknown because I was racially profiled because of my picture and I too am now a victim. Do not worry though; at this point in time I am not contemplating seeking emotional damages I may be feeling from having someone insult my words because they disagreed with what I wrote.

The “Yes We Can” movement is sinking quicker than a Kobe Bryant jump shot. How amazing is it that Barack Obama and the larger-than-life personification he had from the media and supporters have begun to falter? An Associated Poll revealed that a majority of Americans are back to thinking the country is headed in the wrong direction and for any Democrats out there let me ask you what party is in control?

I know what the lame duck excuses are and the arguments are very childish and narrow-minded. If you don’t know their reasoning their hypothesis revolves around blaming President Bush. Of course though “W” wasn’t the one telling Americans that his stimulus package would halt unemployment at or around 8%, just to watch it balloon up to 9.5% in June. Nope it wasn’t “W” and Obama having the Bush crutch to blame on is quickly running out as is the patience of Americans.

As job losses surpass previous historical highs, as the American public begin to realize how bad of a choice Obama was, this realizations will lead to the socialist agenda of Obama and his cronies falling and failing. Unfortunately the media is in the back pockets of Obama and the liberal democrats and a person would be hard-pressed to find a negative statement written or uttered about Obama by the mainstream media but mark my words Obama will be viewed upon society as another Jimmy Carter.

By the way Obama’s approval rating is 55%, better than Bill Clinton’s, and about even with George “W” Bush in comparison to their first 6 months in office. About even, eh? Not in my books, Obama will find a way to jeopardize the future of the common folk.

With an innate desire to create beautiful things, Detroit native Tracy Reese headed for Manhattan in 1982 to attend Parsons School of Design where she received an accelerated degree in 1984.
This is All-Star weekend in St. Louis, Missouri, and we have our tickets for the Fan Fest activities

This is All-Star weekend in St. Louis, Missouri, and we have our tickets for the Fan Fest activities tomorrow and then we will be enjoying the Homerun Derby and All-Star game on Monday and Tuesday nights. The future talent of baseball will be playing, celebrities will be in attendance and even the messiah, Barack Obama, will be there. St. Louis has been known as having some of the greatest fans known to baseball and has allowed the Cardinals to land some top name talent in years past.

2009 is the year in which St. Louis will be allowed to shine and show the baseball nation how great the city truly is. Unfortunately on Monday, a group of African-American contractors and business persons are planning to hold a protest on Interstate 70 during Monday evening rush hour traffic coinciding with All-Star game festivities.

The event will mark 10 years and 1 day since the last protest which brought traffic to a standstill and generated 125 arrests. The faces change but the times never do as the crowds of protestors will be out in full fledge. Their outrage comes in that the African-American groups want the region to know that too few minority contractors are being hired as subcontractors on public projects.

With my previous company we were in need of contractors for a renovation project that totaled over two million dollars. We obtained bids, secured contracts and started work on the project. Group after group failed to uphold the standard that we needed and lost the contract. The completion of the renovation was primarily conducted by a company with a Hispanic background, who was competitively priced and was able to deliver the expertise and quality we were looking for.

Yes anger sprouted as Whites, blacks, etc. grew upset that we “outsourced” our project to the country of Mexico, yet reality was all of the workers were legalized citizens of the United States. The truth of the matter is we found the qualified company we needed and they were able to finish the task months ahead of schedule.

The demonstration proves nothing and these African-American leaders need to learn, to understand and to realize that the cost and quality of work depends upon who wins and who loses in the world of public projects. If the cost is too expensive and the work is not done right, expect to be fired. The American Dream is for one to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and better themselves and at no time has our American Dream consisted of “I’m entitled to this because I’m White, or because I’m Black.”

The idea of people being entitled to work or money or whatever it is they want based off of skin color is ridiculous. We judged our contractors and who we hired and fired based off of price, work ethic and quality of work. Maybe it’s time for the African-American Business and Contractors Association to learn and improve upon their ideologies.

So a lot has happened since the last time I wrote not only in my life but in the world around us. Most notably was Michael Jackson dying and I think it is a shame how people forget what Michael Jackson was. He was a freak, he was a sick-minded person yet the non-stop news coverage has portrayed Jackson as nearly untouchable, as pure as the white snow in the winter seasons.

He wasn’t, he isn’t and I am shocked at the overwhelming support for the pedophile that swept not only our nation but the world as well. This does remind me of how when someone dies that person immediately seems to gain folklore and the negative thoughts about the deceased seems to stop, but then eventually will pick up further steam.

People could say the same thing about what is going to happen to Michael Jackson but the truth of the matter is that if he would have been a regular “everyday Joe”, then we would not be seeing the support for the freak who liked little kids. There would be outrage, there would be support and there would be people celebrating the death of a pedophile. God answers prayers, look at it this way, when Jackson died the children of the world got that much safer.

Back in the day, getting married while with child was a fate that a bride-to-be avoided at all costs. In recent years, however, society has become relaxed towards the idea of an expectant woman walking down the aisle towards her betrothed. Sharing the promise of commitment while presenting the new life that is growing inside of you adds a special element to your big day that goes beyond a typical wedding. With this in mind, you can succeed in flaunting that fabulous bridal style with the opulent options that are available for mommy-to-bes. Whether you’re looking for a gown that flatters your growing belly or a dress that conceals your fruitful frame, you’ll be sure to find something that will allow your loved ones to appreciate the wonder of your wedding day while adoring the beauty of pregnancy.

(Image Courtesy of Jessica Iverson Couture)

If you’re in no rush to get married before you start showing and aren’t bashful about your fuller figure, Pregnant Bride suggests that you look into shopping for a maternity gown. Hardly the monstrous muumuus of yesteryear, there are scores of sensational styles to choose from. What’s better, you can also shop online for beautiful bridal gowns from such wedding boutique websites such as Jessica Iverson Couture without having to sacrifice the luxury that a designer gown would bring. However, it is strongly suggested that you acquire a tailor that will be able to make last-minute alterations without spending a great deal of time or fuss, should you become bigger over time.

Then again, if you prefer to tie the knot before you start to show, we at Yazzie & Co. highly suggest that you collaborate with a masterful wedding dress maker or sharp bridal designer that will be able to skillfully conceal your growing belly. Do immediately inform them of your being with child so that they can accommodate you by adjusting your gown while being able to take it in prior to your big day so that it will fit your frame. According to Pregnant Bride, an early-pregnancy bride can’t go wrong with an A-line gown or a baby-doll style dress – both of which you’d be sure to find in Therez Fleetwood’s versatile wedding dress collection.

Worried about choosing the right accessories that will complete your magnificent mommy-to-be bridal style? No need to be, for you can still wear that radiant veil and stunning ring on the big day while being mindful of what you pick. For instance, you should make sure that your veil isn’t so long that you run the risk of tripping over it. In addition, you want to make sure that your chosen wedding ring will fit you on your wedding day. Pregnant Bride recommends that you have your real ring fitted before you are further along while using a mock ring for the ceremony or snagging a trinket that will fit your already-swollen finger on that day and alter it post-pregnancy. As for your hot honeymoon night? You’ll surely be able to find your share of sultry lingerie to fit your frame that will knock your new hubby’s socks off. With lovely maternity unmentionables from chic websites such as Bellabumbum to pick from, you’ll finish off your wedding day with a fabulous flourish!

The media is in love with Barack Obama. Anyone and everyone have heard this argumentative statement

The media is in love with Barack Obama. Anyone and everyone have heard this argumentative statement and quite possibly the statement is bearing little truth with recent turn of events. One news magazine that I have grown tiresome of has been Newsweek and the spewing of leftist ideology week in and week out. In fact I become more irate as I read the articles and see the knocks on Republicans while Obama is seemingly left looking as if he was “clean” and “articulate”.

I had these feelings until I flipped through the magazine while passing time in the bathroom. I nearly messed my pants while on the toilet when I read under the Conventional Wisdom: Think Again section the following:

OBAMA Projected 8 percent unemployment in February. But now it’s up to 9.4. Time to change the subject to health care.

Time to change the subject to health care, eh? It seems to me that the media has gained access to Obama’s playbook and blew the whistle on what he has been doing all along. When things start to fail Obama simply turns his focal point And isn’t this the way it seems to go for the President of the United States of America? The media has been there showing their everlasting support that was absent from George W. Bush and his 8 year Presidency. I caught myself reading the aforementioned over and over and over again, chuckling out loud and wondering if hell was freezing over. Could this be the beginning of Newsweek and others in the mainstream media beginning to turn on the Messiah?

The Internet is one of the powerful tools that people from all around the world use today. Think about the abilities and the capabilities this great invention has brought. Research on any subject can be done in a mere seconds no longer requiring a trip to the library, contact with anyone can be conducted by the use of e-mail, and another great thing about the Internet is the blogging world. Hell if it was not for the Internet no one would be reading this right now.

Surfing the blogosphere a person can find blogs about anything and everything. People who love animals, people who love to keep others updated about their family, people who love sports, who hate sports, people who love politics and yes even people such as myself who just like to ramble.

Then there are the people such as Raphael Baker who has a blog and recently he and I engaged in what I thought would be a meaningful debate as I challenged him on a post he recently wrote. Boy was I wrong, in fact in challenging Mr. Baker he proceeded to have comment moderation turned on to his site. Not because my returning words were vulgar or outrageous but simply because I challenged the owner of a site proclaiming to have aptitude and attitude. I decided to post this as a challenge to Mr. Baker in hopes that maybe he will venture to this site and step out of hiding from his comment moderation. Who knows maybe I have wishful thinking in regards to the “Editor-in-Chief” of his pretty cheesy magazine. Raphael Baker, what do you say?

I was out today and apparently there is a national celebration of Doo-rags as it seemed that every black male I saw was sporting the use of the silk-like material wrapped gangster like around their head. I couldn’t help but think to myself how and why these men think this is cool as the material worn looks like something my wife would buy from Victoria Secret’s. That’s right these cool Doo-rags looking more like pantyhose than any kind of head wrap a person would buy.

To say the least my curiosity was peaking and I found myself Googling the Doo-rag and from the urban dictionary I found some humorous information. Apparently the Doo-rags originated in the 1970s with prison inmates and were worn to try and simulate the long hair of a (male) female inmate, so the (male) males, could easily tell them apart.

Flashing forward thirty plus years the Doo-rags are banned in most prisons today, but have moved to the main stream of black fashion. In New York City there have been court cases supporting the use of Doo-rags at work even when employers complained it was not “appropriate”.

I guess what put the icing on the cake for me today was watching the black guy decked out in a nice business suit wearing his black Doo-rag and I wondered yet again why people cannot figure out why these individuals cannot obtain respect in our society. What’s hilarious is the fact that today black men wear the Doo-rags to be cool while the origination of the Doo-rag was to tell the prison bitches apart. How ironic is this?
