WTF?! Why do I keep doing this electro type music for? I guess it’s because its fun to mix. I feel like I’m going on a journey when I mix electro tracks. I like finding those transitions that just sound perfect together and let them ride for a good 32, 64, or more bars sometimes.

Yeah, I don’t really listen to electro by my own powers but I love it in the club when the bass is hittin’ and the DJs are killin’ it. I sift through a shitload of it too when I am listening to music blogs. At that point, I just get into a “this works, this doesn’t work” mode as I pick songs that I could potentially use in a mix. I never really look for it though. I never search the artists. My trusted blogs, which I probably follow for hip hop, downtempo, bmore, indie, and so on, just seem to love electro as well, so its right in my face. Being the thorough person that I am, I got to listen to all the tracks that the blog is offering up, if I trust the blog. So you see, electro is always in my face, I will always be previewing and downloading tracks, and eventually making more electro mixes. Just hope somebody out there appreciates my work. I do appreciate mixing electro though, because it brings out a lot of my musical creativity that can’t be seen when I am mixing hip hop. Thank you electro, for bombarding me with your hits.

Much blogged-about Brazilian duo the 12s (or Twelves, whatever) have been tearing up the internets with one awesome mix after another, and I guarantee they will improve your day (or night, or whatever). They have a super-sweet , slick, funky groove sound, and there’s many from them to love, so I definitely suggest checking them out. They also have a few sweet longer mixes that are solid gold. I really look forward to future activity from them re: touring, albums, etc??

Enfin surtout les deux dernières pubs eBay que je trouve plutôt pas mal et qui m’ont fait découvrir deux morceaux punchy et qui donnent bien la pêche !

Tout d’abord celle où le mec s’éclate un max avec ses casques (ma préférée).

La bande-son c’est Look at me (When I Rock Wichoo) de Black Kids.

Ensuite, celle spéciale dingue de shoes très marrante aussi.

Et là c’est Walking on a dream de Empire of the Sun.

Et c’est là que je remarque que ces deux groupes ont un point commun : des looks plutôt déjantés.

Sur ce, je te souhaite une très bonne journée sur mes deux sons fétiches du moment !

As if Ray Ban needed to convince trendy urban youngsters to wear their products (trendy urban youngster=hipster, I just don’t like using the word), the company has hired a multitude of artists to promote their new campaign. The idea is simple, have the artists perform covers of their favourite songs from the 50s and 60s. I’m betting this is just the tip of the 60s revival iceberg anchored by the chunk of ice that is Mad Men.

Of note is the cover of “Egyptian Shumba”, originally performed by the Tammys, done by Black Kids. The song’s jumpy bass and wild shrieks will have you doing that dance where you shake your knees while your hands move between them.  Also noteworthy is the inclusion of CHINESE band New Pants doing a cover of Bob Kayli’s “Tie me Tight”. New Pants note that it is difficult for them to capture the feel of 50s and 60s American soul music mostly because there was no music in China at the time, although my parents would disagree and have the glass shattering audio tapes to prove it. Who needs Julian Casablancas when you have Liu Huan, am I right comrades! (I would not have lasted a second in communist China)

Other artists featured in the campaign include Ladyhawke, Ipso Facto, The Kills, Young Knives and White Williams.

Black Kids es una banda de Indie Pop de Florida. Debutaron con el EP, “Wizard oh Ahhhs”. Luego, debido a la gran aceptación, lanzaron su Álbum oficial titulado “Partie Traumatic”.

Black Kids ha estado de gira con grandes bandas de Inglaterra en Festivales como Glastonbury. A continuación, los sencillos de la banda.

Help, I’m Alive (Twelves Remix) by Metric, SO good, I’ve had this song for quite a while, but I never really sat down and listened to it. Classic Twelves.

Take on Me (Twelves Remix) by A-Ha, just incredible. What a great remix of this song, would recommend playing for any set with this kind of happy/feel good atmosphere. This song would just destroy a party in college. People love what they know.

Drugs in My Body (Twelves Remix) by The Twelves, This was actually the song which started getting me into the Twelves. My friend Tony gave me this even before their boyfriend remix. Though I do admit it’s by no means my favorite, it holds a sentimental value so I though I’d put it up.

GREAT to play at any party:
Boys (The Twelves Remix) by M.I.A., this should be evident why this would be a good song to play at a party.

Reckoner (The Twelves Remix) by Radiohead, I don’t normally approve of most Radiohead remixes, but this one is so fantastic. Really keeps the idea of the original, just makes it a little dancier.

So Far Away from the Sea (Twelves Remix) by Yuksek, an amazing original, Yuksek alone would get me to listen to this remix.

A internet hoje nos proporciona bandas de EP. Não é aquela banda de um hit só ou a banda que morre no segundo álbum. É pior, é a banda que lança um EP extraordinário e, em seguida, um cd tão decepcionante igual.

Há duas bandas que vem a cabeça. Viciei nos EPs, hypava pra qualquer pessoa que conversava sobre música, e depois quando saiu o primeiro cd de cada banda, tive que ficar com aquele sorriso amarelo “é, não era o que eu esperava”.

Caso 1: Tokyo Police Club – A Lesson In Crime EP (2006)

Esse deve ser o melhor EP do universo. É sufocante no bom sentido, 7 músicas intensas em menos de 20 minutos. Estou 3 anos atrasados pra fazer um review mais detalhado mas vale alguns comentários. Cheer It On é a melhor música que eu conheço que parece Strokes e não é deles. Nature Of The Experiment é um baita de um single e chegaram até a apresentar essa música no Letterman. Citizens Of Tomorrow chegou a ser aquela música que você considera ser da sua vida por um tempo. Essa trinca já bastaria. Mas ainda tempos a punk (?) If It Works, Shoulders & Arms e Be Good, mais uma trinca digníssima. Depois de você quase morrer com essas 6 músicas, a linda La Ferrassie vem para acalmar os ânimos(por um tempo) e fechar o EP. A gravação desse EP colabora para com que as músicas fiquem melhores. E então você fala “eles vão destruir no primeiro álbum”. Eis que chega Elephant Shell. Putz, começa com Centennial que é legal mas depois fica díficil de aguentar. Entretanto o álbum conta com 2 singles de matar, Your English Is Good e Tessellate, mas é só. Você vai achar legal Sixties Remake, mas pra quem fez 7 músicas maravilhosas de 7, fazer 2 maravilhosas e 2 boas de 11 músicas, é muita decepção. Por um tempo tinha me arrependido de não tê-los visto no primeiro Planeta Terra, hoje nem lembro mais disso. Sei que tudo é possível, mas não acredito mais no Tokyo Police Club. Vou ficar extremamente feliz se calarem minha boca, mas não acredito.

Caso 2: Black Kids – Wizards Of Ahhhs (2007)

Este deve ser o segundo melhor EP do universo. A mistura de The Cure, Arcade Fire, Go Team e etc agradou muito. I’m not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you é uma das músicas mais incríveis da história. Hit The Heartbreakers, Hurricane Jane e I’ve Underestimated My Charm são excelentes músicas e acompanhantes de luxo da principal música. É um prazer ouvir esse EP. E lá vai a mesma expectativa dada ao Tokyo Police Club. Então lança o cd de estréia, Partie Traumatic. Mais condizente, impossível. É totalmente traumático. As 4 músicas estão lá, mas eles deram um ar mais pop nas músicas que estragaram com tudo, e as outras são praticamente inescutáveis. Eu achava que eles tinham tudo pra ser uma banda indie que alcançassem um certo mainstream, mas sem chances assim. Atiraram no próprio pé e estão pertos do suicídio. É triste e frustrante, não sei explicar como acontece mas acontece. De certa forma fica guardado um bom trabalho de cada banda, mas podia ter sido tão melhor…

Não achei a versão do EP de I’m Not Gonna…, mas Hit The Heartbreakers é muito boa também.

Agora em 2009, o melhor EP é o do Delorean – Ayrton Senna EP, espero não me decepcionar quando lançarem o primeiro álbum e torço muito pra que sejam uma banda de vários cds, e não de um EP apenas. Tomara que não vire o caso 3.

Deli do Delorean. Por enquanto, memorável.

Jennifer (Megan Fox) è una bellissima cheerleader, mentre Needy (Amanda Seyfried) è una timida nerd. Le due sono amiche per la pelle sin dall’infanzia e sono inseparabili. Una sera le due si recano al concerto di un gruppo indipendente di cui Jennifer è una fan accanita. Inoltre vorrebbe conoscere il cantante del gruppo Nikolai (Adam Brody), per il quale ha una cotta. Tuttavia un terribile incendio distrugge il locale e provoca molte vittime. Jennifer e Needy si salvano e la cheerleader sconvolta accetta di salire sul furgone della band. Da quella notte non sarà più la stessa. Inoltre i ragazzi della scuola iniziano a morire in maniera misteriosa e terribile…

Diablo Cody (Premio Oscar per la sceneggiatura del meraviglioso Juno) scrive la sceneggiatura ed appare come produttrice esecutiva di questa  pellicola diretta da Karyn Kusama.
La storia vede l’amicizia tra due ragazze a prima vista opposte: Jennifer è bellissima, corteggiatissima e popolare, Needy è timida, riservata ed è fidanzata con Chip (Johnny Simmons). Nonostante le apparenze, le due sono amiche per la pelle sin da quando da bambine giocavano con le bambole. La loro amicizia e le loro vite cambiano inesorabilmente dopo l’incendio che distrugge il locale nel quale stavano assistendo al concerto dei Low Shoulder, una indie band guidata da Nikolai, per il quale Jennifer ha una cotta. Dopo l’incendio Jennifer va via con i membri della band e da quella notte Needy la vede e la sente diversa. Ma si tratta di uno scherzo della propria mente oppure Jennifer ha qualcosa di realmente sinistro e diabolico?

La trama sembra davvero interessante ma la bravissima Diablo Cody non riesce ad ottenere lo stesso effetto di Juno. Il film sulla carta si presenta come una dark comedy, ma in realtà si rivela  un teen horror abbastanza banalotto. A Megan Fox non occorre molta fatica per calarsi nei panni della ragazza più bella e più desiderata della scuola (praticamente l’unico ruolo che ha di fatto interpretato in tutte le sue varianti fino a questo momento). Più complesso e sfaccettato è il ruolo di Amanda Seyfried, la Sophie di Mamma mia! , sicuramente la più brava tra le due.  Da notare inoltre il ruolo da bad guy di Adam Brody, il timido e imbranato Seth Cohen della serie cult The O.C., che interpreta Nikolai, leader dei Low Shoulder, disposto a tutto pur di raggiungere il successo…

In definitiva una pellicola che regala qualche brivido, alcune scene splatter, una  buona colonna sonora (composta da pezzi di varie band indie rock e alternative, come White Lies, Florence + The Machine, Silversun Pickups, Black Kids, Panic! at the Disco, le Hole con la loro Violet,  (per la tracklist completa cliccate qui),  e da una bella performance di Amanda Seyfried. Ma se la sceneggiatura è firmata Diablo Cody questo risulta essere decisamente poco.

In definitiva: Da evitare.

The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth – Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

- I can confidently say that the lead singer of C.Y.H.S.Y. makes Bob Dylan’s vocal talent sound that much closer to the likes of Aretha Franklin.  Yet regardless, this track is surprisingly catchy and grows on the listener the more times you listen.

“Too Fake” and “Work” – Hockey

I watched the video for “Too Fake” and I think I’m in love with the lead singer of this band. Not only does “Too Fake” have a catchy bassline, it has danceability (if you’re a weird dancer) and a really cool set of lyrics sung by this guy who has a breathy voice that almost caresses them. ”Work” is slower and a bit more chill, but I still love the singing and the beat.

“Oscar Wilde” – Company of Thieves

I find myself embarrassing myself by singing this song even though I have nowhere near the voice that this girl has. Lyrics are great again. It starts out chill but builds up some intensity toward the end. And the guitar is pretty cool too – they have a really interesting tone.

“I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You” – Black Kids

The title is a mouthful and the audio is pretty cluttered, but I love “Boyfriend.” I have no idea what this guy is talking about half the time (“You are the girl that I’ve been dreaming of ever since I was a little girl”??), but that doesn’t matter because the chorus is unbelievably catchy. I’m also a  sucker for songs with counting – yes, even that Plain White T’s tripe that they put out recently.

“See You” – Dinosaur Jr.

There’s no denying it, the guitar in this song is cool as hell. I’m not the biggest fan of Dinosaur Jr’s lazy vocals, but the impressive riff more than makes up for the drawling. It’s a great song for driving at night.

“Molly’s Chambers” – Kings of Leon

Where did these guys come from? They were this little act with that one good song (“Fans”) and then suddenly they’re all over the radio. I’m not complaining, because they’re good. The vocals in this song are catchy. I’ve always loved this guy’s voice, but this song really beats all – not exactly for technical quality, but just for infectivity.

“Where the White Boys Dance” – The Killers

With a title like that, how can you go wrong? Vocals are weird as always for the Killers, but it works out. The heavy bassline that chimes in on the chorus makes me want to get up and find these white boys so I can dance with them too.

“We Used to Vacation” – Cold War Kids

I know this one has been out for awhile, but I still love it. Cold War Kids have such an interesting sound in general, but this song avoids some of the repetition that they get into on other songs.

“The Summer” – Coconut Records

Coconut Records are one of my favorite relatively new bands. “The Summer” is my current favorite of theirs because the main riff is fun. I like having an acoustic band in my repertoire – great for studying to. Lyrics are weird but really good to sing along with.

“(Antichrist Television Blues)” - Arcade Fire

Is it just me, or are the Arcade Fire last year’s trend? Seems like a little while ago every celebrity who wanted to be hip said their favorite band was the Arcade Fire, but you never hear them say that anymore (fickle people!). It doesn’t really matter, because these guys are still damn cool. This song is typical Arcade Fire – so much stuff going on, but it all seems to mesh. I like this song in particular because of the lyrics. The mantra “I don’t wanna work in a building downtown” got my attention and then “Lips are near, but my heart is far away” made me love this song.

Most people, by now, must be getting to know that The Twelves are sheer tremendousness on a stick. The Brazilian duo have been lambasting us with killer remixes for a while now, rarely letting their very high standards slip. ClassABryson posted some amazing Twelves remixes here a while back. Anyway, you’ll be pleased to know that we have some great stuff for you today on WANARB. Firstly though, we must thank Et Musique Pour Tous for these, because frankly – we got them off their site! So thank you guys – keep up the good work (and keep supplying us with stuff to post!). Go to their post to get the wicked M.I.A. remix that The Twelves did.

Rush Limbaugh is back at it playing racial politics to scare conservative white people (who follow it like dummies)about Barack Obama, this black president of the United States.

Here is what Limbaugh, the leader of the GOP and the conservative wing of the political spectrum had to say:

“[I]n Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering”

What a disgraceful man this Rush Limbaugh is, and it just shows how nutty and blind these far-right crazies who hang onto his every word have become over the years.

Conservatives are afraid of him and fall like dominoes for his brand of divisive racial politics. People like Limbaugh have hijacked the Republican party.

Fear keeps indoctrinated conservatives in line.
