Dad is docking his small fisherboat while his son makes preparations to sell their live catch of the day.

Dad and his son will return tomorrow just like the day before to sell their fresh ware, it’s the simple life of these two fishermen.

Max Snow is a photographer who I like very much.

He makes a connection with his subjects that allows us to see people commonly shunned in a more personal and real light. He must be a charming fellow, to be able to do that.

Although, I don’t know why someone would want to set this windmill on fire.

Tomorrow is the 51st birthday of the King of Pop…and I know you already know that.

Millions and trillions and gazillion people have done whatever they could to pay an ode to the man who is no more. Flashmob’s happened in many places (i don’t think any happened here), dedications, blogs, loads of gossip and some other stuff of which I have no inkling.

I’m doing something as well. Something like a tribute to the man who’s music will keep him alive.
The idea came from a friend (Thanks Paddy!), which is to paint a few shoes Black n White. Now the beauty is that I won’t have to explain why I’m painting them monochromatic.

About four shoes are part of this tribute. You could see what you like and place your orders.
The designs will be up tomorrow. (Again I don’t have to explain why)

My dear friend Lou and her darling hub, Luke with their tummy, a week before the arrival of Isabella. We shot these for fun in my warehouse .

Jada has dropped a new line called battle machines. Something along the lines of Mad Max type vehicles. Not too much that makes them a line that will last multiple releases. But I grabbed only one that appealed to me for the simple fact of the police livery. Besides that they are clogging the pegs at ALL area stores and have been sitting their for about 3 1/2 weeks without a movement.

This song reminds me of my college days, engineering college days in particular. No, don’t get me wrong. I did not experience any love disappointment, just that I rediscovered this song during those days and I would hum this song sitting in bus, waiting for my bus at the stop and sitting in class while boring lectures were going – basically all the time.

Hemantda acquired a special place in my heart after I heard this song. For a long time, I was under the wrong assumption that this song is sung by Manna Dey and when I finally realized who the real singer was, I was not surprised at all. It had to be Hemantda with his expressive voice.

The song is clearly meant for a heart-broken lover’s situation. The tune is so simple as if Hemantda is reciting those lines rather than actually singing it. There is very little background music thus giving all the importance to Hemantda’s voice. His voice is so heavy and drawn-out, you can actually feel the burden. And the words, oh my, heart-wrenching, tear-jerking words. Tell me, whose heart will not melt for the person singing these lines:

Isko hi jeena kehte hain to yuhin jee lenge
Uff na karenge lab seelenge aasoon peelenge
Gham se ab ghabarana kaisa gham sau baar mila

I love this song so much, I can go on and on about it, but let me stop here by saying I love the simplicity of this song. Simple music, simple tune, simple words but the feeling are far from being simple.

This song was recently refreshed in the minds of the music lovers by Aabhaas, the young, shy contestant in Star Plus’s Voice of India. He sung this song on the show and won the hearts of the judges and the audiences alike. He was one of the few contestants who chose to sing old beauties and left the newer dance numbers to the other contestants. There was another female contestant, whose name I forget, who too chose to sing old numbers and she chose some real gems like Mai Ri from Dastak. No surprise, neither of them won the show.

The special thing about this song is the playback singer. I know Kishore Kumar is special by  himself, but this song is even more special because he has sung the male and female lines of this song. The movie has Kishore Kumar in the lead role as a mentally retarded person who considers himself a little boy and acts like one. The title, Half Ticket, refers to him because he asks for half ticket when he travels by train. This song is picturized on Kishore Kumar dressed up as a village girl and Pran, who wants to catch hold of Kishore for ulterior motives. Kishore Kumar’s male voice is for Pran and the female voice is for Kishore Kumar himself. Kishoreji has sung this song with such sincerity that you can’t make out the female voice is his if you don’t know beforehand.

This black-n-white, light hearted comedy movie is worth a watch. Watch it for Kishore Kumar.

Percy and Basil , brothers , living in Country South Australia. What a pair of characters !  I was informed they would be very grumpy and put out at the idea of having their photograph taken. Well, I put my sweet charms to work and by the time I left they wanted me to stay for lunch. Were also disappointed I didn’t wish to continue shooting, they kept suggesting other locations and ideas ! Perc and Baz, my ol’ mates now, are both less than 5 foot, 4 foot nothin’ and I mean that literally. I am a mere 5 foot 3 and I towered over them. Funniest thing is all the ol’ vintage pics hanging in their dark and dingy house were up to my belly button. Scream !!!  That was the only house they had ever lived in and they still had single beds in their childhood bedrooms, I figure their folks must have been very short too as they would have hung the pictures on the wall. Other funny, have a look at the first pic of them on this post, those chairs are normal chairs !!!  and look at how their feet are dangling in the air, so cute !!  Gotta love Perc and Baz !

I’ve had a printed copy of the first image ripped from a copy of Vice Mag on my wall ever since I moved out of my parental home. It kicks ass. All of these are done by Hakuchi Manga Illustration. It’s too bad I don’t know japanese or I would have checked out the portfolio.

Tarj, James and Emmi … very loyal and fav clients … i photograph them every year. Being favourites, that’s not to say the session doesn’t have it’s challenges. Most times after the shoot I am unsure, in the whirlwind what I have pulled from the shoot. Each little model is, how shall we say, very single minded and fiercely independent and so I run about like a mad thing … I was pretty happy with these results

David OReilly’s bizarre entry to PPST!3, a “collaborative film series”. Also worth checking out. This film features a pretty pussycat and Walt Disney’s head.

Okaaaay, so I did finish it after all. You see, my trial version of SAI just expired, so I had to or it would be lost forever. Plus I kinda wanted to. May be some errors on it still though, especialy the mask since I don’t really have much idea / bothered to look up how a gas mask look like, so I just drew something.

This is Lenny from Saddleworth, South Australia, a little country town about 2 hours north of Adelaide. Lenny has  just had his 100th birthday, I had a cup a tea and biscuits with him in his old kitchen, he still bakes cookies and prepares his meals everyday. He has lived on the same farm since he was a boy and began his life there as a cook. 

And AW, also from Saddleworth, don’t think he is a hundred but has lived in Saddleworth almost that long, I had such fun photographing various characters from the area and they felt like quite the ” superstars ” I heard …

corny heading … but hey, forgot about these tulips i snapped one day … yay yummy … never let a good vase of flowers go to waste …

I just looked at the bad parenting in my last post, and felt the need to counteract it.

Photographer Jack Radcliffe started documenting his daughter Alison since day one. His photos of her start out very isolated and become more about documenting her surrounding, as she grows. You don’t have to know Alison to get a feel for what her life is like, and to know that she has a father who obviously loves her unconditionally.

I can’t wait till Ryan does this with LB and his other podling to be!

Ugh, I’m kinda stuck with this one now.
