I just Looove my Stilettos! And I know very few ladies who don’t feel the same

So in the spirit of the ‘Shades of Gray’ Theme that beautybulletin.com had last month, I whipped up a Black Studded Stiletto Nail Art for them, and now you ladies to try out at home:

Step 1 - File your nails into the almond shape, as described in my previous article on nail shapes and apply your favourite clear base coat polish.

Step 2 - Use a Matte black nail polish (I used no. 115 from Ralo Cosmetics) and do two full coats on all your nails. Always remember that 2 thinner coats will dry quicker than one thick coat, so as they say, less is more And allow some drying time between each coat. Eg. I usually start with my right hand, then my right, then I do both feet, so by the time I get back to my right hand, its ready for the second coat.

Step 3 – Use a normal glossy black polish (I used no. 54 from Ralo Cosmetics) and paint a ‘french tip’, but in a V-shape, along the edges of your V-shaped tips. Allow to dry, and then use a clear top coat on that same V-shape for some extra gloss.

Step 4 - I wanted to use actual nail gems for this part, but I couldn’t find any silver studs that were small enough, so I used a silver nail polish (760 Rock the Metal – Rimmel London 60 seconds) to dot on faux silver studs along the glossy V-shape ‘french tip’ with a very thin nail art brush from essence.

And voila! There you have it! Sexy black studded stiletto nails to go with those Gray/silver heels and that little black number…

This was my first matte polish that I’ve bought and used, and I quite enjoyed combining the matte and glossy polishes – giving the look some ‘texture’. Cant wait to play around with some more matte/glossy combinations!!

SO if you haven’t done so already.. please subscribe to my blog by clicking on the Follow/Like button in the widget section on the right of this page, to receive notifications of new posts by email.

Halloween Nail Art

Though you can match the Halloween nail art designs according to your Halloween costume, but certain designs work well with most types of costumes. Jack-O-Lantern, ghosts, vampire, scary witch, witch’s cap or broomstick, skulls and bones, black cats and bats and a variety of designs can be used for painting the nails during Halloween. Try something scary and eerie, something that will sends chills down the spine. Since black is the color of darkness, so it would be a good idea to paint your nails in black and then paint these spooky creatures with white acrylic or any color that stands out.

Looking for simple Halloween nail art ideas? Well, those of you who like it simple can try the easy Halloween nail art designs. You can simply apply two coats of black nail polish and add glitter to them. Making cobwebs is also one of the simple nail art designs. Painting some of these spooky creatures might not be that easy, but having them painted on your nails will help in giving you the complete Halloween look. You can either paint the same spooky creature on all the fingernails or paint different creatures on each nail.

Making Halloween Nail Art Designs

Now that you have some idea on Halloween nail art designs, let me tell you how to make some of these designs. If you are wearing a ghost costume, it would be a good idea to paint something similar on your nails. Let me tell you what you need to do for making Halloween nail polish designs. You will need white nail polish for this Halloween nail art design. Start by applying white nail polish on your nails. Once it’s dry, apply another coat. After it has dried completely, get hold of a black nail polish and make two dots in the center and paint a circle under the eyes for the mouth.

Making these designs will be easier if your nails are a little bit longer. Girls who have longer nails will find it much easier to draw these designs. You can even use fake nails, if your nails aren’t that long. Floating eyes is one of the simple Halloween nail art ideas. For making this hand painted nail art design, you need to apply two coats of black nail polish. Once it has dried completely, use white nail polish to make two pairs of ovals. These shouldn’t be too small. Once they are dry, take the black nail polish and draw a black dot in each of them. The floating eyes nail art design is ready! You can also make tear drops and draw faces in them.

For making Jack-O-Lantern, you need to get hold of black and orange nail polish. Apply two coats of bright orange nail polish. Once it has dried, draw two triangles for the eyes and one for nose. Paint a zigzag pattern for the mouth. Wasn’t that easy! You can also use orange and black nail polish for making cobwebs. Apply bright orange nail polish first. Once it has dried, draw a line at the base of the nail and draw another perpendicular line at the corner. Draw two lines from the corner and connect them with small lines so as to make it look like a cobweb. If you are wearing a black costume, you can use black and white nail polish to make this design. Halloween nail art is all about coming up with wacky designs. You can draw any abstract design or pattern or use bold colors to add an eerie touch to your Halloween look.

This was some information on Halloween nail art ideas. Hope you found these ideas for nail art designs for Halloween interesting. For this Halloween, don’t just restrict yourself to scary Halloween masks and Halloween costumes, use creative Halloween nail art ideas to give yourself the ultimate look. Have fun!

My wife cringes when I wear my Birkenstock sandals…with the constant blisters and black nail (

My wife cringes when I wear my Birkenstock sandals…with the constant blisters and black nail (one is permanent…I don’t think that nail will ever grow back the same) it looks like someone sanded my feet with grit25 paper. I think of it as a right of passage, a benchmark, almost like a trophy of sorts…I’m sure a podiatrist would have a field day on me…

I’ve lost and re-grown more toenails in the past 10 years than I can count. Black Nail (as it is called in running circles) is a condition when your toenail rubs against the top of the inside of your running shoe for long periods of time and therefore a blood blister forms underneath the nail. It is very painful. It causes your nail to turn ‘black’ and after a week…wait for it…wait for it…it falls off.

However, if you are in the right running shoe that is the ‘right’ size and you lace your shoes the correct way, you can avoid black nail altogether. And no it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what that algorithm is…

Running shoes are a runners most prized possession. You cannot expect to lace up your Chuck Taylor Converse All-Stars and complete a half-marathon. And do not think for one second that the pair of ‘Nike’ shoes you purchased at Kohl’s is going to hold up. Runner’s shoes are like fingerprints. There are millions of styles out there however not one style is alike. You have over-pronation, under-pronation, stability, motion control, minimalist, pure, flat arch, high arch, forefoot strike, midfoot strike, heel strike….which one are you? If you cannot answer that question, I will bet you a race entry to your favorite race that you are in the wrong shoe. Do your knees hurt when you run? Lower back pain when you run? Ankles ache after a run? Say it with me….’wrong shoe’ (or your current model needs replaced!)

Black Nail can also be avoided by buying your shoes a half-a-size bigger than your Chuck Taylors. Make sure there is enough room in the toe box to avoid your toenails from rubbing on the shoe. You can also use this (http://www.runnersworld.co.za/shoes-gear/shoe-essentials/how-to-lace-shoes-prevent-black-toenails/) lacing guide to help take pressure off your toes or stop your heel from slipping.

Runner’s World has a fantastic application (http://www.runnersworld.com/shoeadvisor) that will ask the right questions to figure out what type of shoe is best for you. Also if you are fortunate enough to have a Road Runner Sports store in your area (http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/) they have a free shoe analysis process they will literally ‘run’ you through (barefoot on a treadmill while being video taped…it is awesome!).

Don’t take your footwear for granted….or someday you to will be asked to stop wearing sandals…in public…forever.

Because this blog still isn’t about a special subject – except myself, whoops… or

Because this blog still isn’t about a special subject – except myself, whoops… or to put it into other words, I still haven’t found a theme to write about, it comes to my mind that maybe I should write more about fashion and stuff. Strolling around it looks like the most blogs are about fashion – besides those about cute babies, toddlers and being-a-mom-experiences, but I don’t have descendants. Of course I could make something up, I’m a writer at least… but my instincts tell me better not to do so. I could write about my dogs instead, but they won’t sign me an allowance to put more than some random vacations shots of them into public. So it comes back to fashion and the thought to join in. Maybe this is going somewhere and I can start something like “the other fashion blog”.

Okay, here comes fashion advice no. 1:

Black nail polish is out. No go. So last supper or whatever term to use. An absolutely don’t.

Please get rid of it, throw it out of your beauty cabinet. No matter it’s from Chanel, ANNY, butter, OPI or any other brand that’s cool. Only one exception can be made to still wear it. In case you are Ozzy Osbourne or one of his fans, it’s o.k. But then, don’t forget to match the rest of your outfit.

And just because I already crossed the line to all of you fashion addicts – shoes of that kind are ridiculous. And I don’t mean shoes from the designer Rupert Sanderson in general, I’m just using him as an example. In fact doing research for this post I’ve visited his website and after passing the not so adorable picture of a more than skinny model wearing ridiculous shoes I was surprised – positively.

SUIT UP! Ok, that’s all I’ve got. I’ve been meaning to blog these nails for awhile

SUIT UP! Ok, that’s all I’ve got. I’ve been meaning to blog these nails for awhile and this is honestly the best beginning I can think of right now. Call it writers block, call it awful writing, or even oh-my-gosh-has-this-kid-ever-taken-an-English-class-in-their-life syndrome. I just have one thing to say to you…and that is yes, yes I have taken an English class. A lot of them actually. And believe it or not I did learn some things. So now, before you continue to judge me, take a look at these classy nails! That’s right, my nails have higher class then most of us on a good day. I wish to coin the new acronym CAMF. It’s like BAMF, but more difficult to say and the “C” stands for classy. Well, enough about my academic history. Here is what you need if you want to attempt this level of classyness…

Top Coat/Base Coat (Rimmel London)

Red nail polish (Revlon)

White nail polish (Rimmel London)

Black nail polish (Sinful Colors)

I started by painting the nails with the top coat and then a coat of the black nail polish. The easy part is done. Now, this is a hard part to explain and we all know how good I am at taking pictures along the way. So, using the white, paint and fill in a V starting from the top of the nail, centered across the middle of the nail. After that, make the lapels or whatever they’re called. Just make them extending from the top of the nail to the bottom of the nail. When the white is dry, go over the first V we made again with red or whatever other color you choose. Red looks really good, but it’s always fun to make it match you for a party or event or something.

Now this next part will stay white just like the lapel thingies. Make 2 or 3 buttons going down the center of the now-red V. Lastly, take the black again and make a teeny little bow tie at the top of your jacket.
Now you are one CAMF!!

(and some comments would be appreciated…thanks)

November 18, 2011

Tried making lady bugs = Fail! The red polish I used was too dark when i put on a second coat But I decided it to keep it anyways since it took me 2 hours to make this. Haha. So many flaws on this one. Saaaaaaad. I will be better next time.

What you need:

Red Nail Polish (Choose the brightest shade of red)

Black Nail Polish

Black Nail Art Polish (the one with the thin brush)

White Nail Polish

Dotting Tool (anything with small round tip)

Paper

Base Coat

Top Coat

What to do:

Put on a base coat. Cover your entire nail with red polish.

Using the black nail art polish, draw a straight line at the center of your nail. Then make the black tip of the nail, slightly thicker than french tips.

Prepare your dotting kit (paper, dotting tool and polish), then create dots for the eyes and body.

Apply top coat.

That’s it! You have your lady bug nails! Don’t forget to choose a brighter red color so your nails won’t end up like mine (so dark! Huhu.). Anyways, I hope you still like this one (for the effort, haha). Have you tried other versions of this design? Let me see!

Halloween is a-coming! Aahhhhhhhhh, love this holiday! Another reason why I should be a young American; we just don’t celebrate it enough over here… So, dull. I get all spook defeatist – if we ain’t gonna do it properly then why bother at all?

- A pumpkin here or there
- The odd witches hat
- Possibly an eye ball or two floating in a bowl of jelly

Kids trick or treating a week in advance, pocketing cash to pay for their fags…

Enough negativity, oops.

Let’s Get Spook-ified!

Spooky Nails for spooky celebrations… Pourquoi pas? I got together with one of my girls and we came up with some simple, basic designs for you to try or improve on at home.

GET.YOUR.SPOOK.ON

First Look: Webtastic

What you will need:
1. Black Nail Polish – I used MUA (Shade 1)
2. White Nail Polish – I used Barry M (Matt White)
3. Instant Nail Effect Crackle in White – I used Barry M (White Frost)
4. Black Nail Art Pen – I used Models Own Nail Art Pen (Black)

Note: I used what I had and always try to use up and work with what is there. Waste sucks.

How to make your nails Webtastic:
1. Paint all fingers except the thumb with black polish.
2. Paint thumb white.
3. Once dry – Go over the black polish with the white crackle… Shatter… POW.
4. Once dry – Use the Art Pen to get creative on your thumb. I drew a web, which I did not practise before-hand.. Have a quick go on paper first.

Et Voila; Webtastic Nails!

Second Look: Creepy and Crawly

What you will need:
1. Black Nail Polish – I used MUA (Shade 1)
2. White Nail Polish – I used Barry M (Matt White)
3. French Manicure Tape – My Girls
4. Black Nail Art Pen – I used Models Own Nail Art Pen (Black)

Note: After using manicure tape, don’t screw it up and bin it. Peel it off gently and put it back in the pack so you can re-use and then guess what? Re-use.

Note: Instead of using manicure tape you can use sellotape.

How to make your nails Creepy and Crawly:
1. Paint all nails white.
2. Once Dry – Stick Manicure tape on to all fingers except thumbs.
3. Use black polish to paint the tips.
4. Once Dry – Gently peel off (and save!)
5. Use the Nail Art Pen to draw your super cute spider. This is beyond simple: Circle for body and 4 lines on either side for the sweet-hearts legs.

Done and done.

I did one hand of each design… Like so:

Third Look: Happy Pumpkin

What you will need:
1. Orange Nail Polish – I used Barry M (Block Orange)
2. Green Nail Polish – I used Barry M (Spring Green)
3. French Manicure Tape – My Girls
4. Black Nail Art Pen – I used Models Own Nail Art Pen (Black)

How to make your nails Creepy and Crawly:
1. Paint all nails orange.
2. Once Dry – Stick Manicure tape on to all fingers..
3. Use green polish to paint the tips.
4. Once Dry – Gently peel off (and save!)
5. Use the Nail Art Pen to draw your happy pumpkin face. I did little triangles for the eyes and a wiggly mouth. Love his handsome face!

So I was going for casual city looking outfit for shopping and MM board slapping and put on the legg

So I was going for casual city looking outfit for shopping and MM board slapping and put on the leggings at one point that had black with the red trim.
I think dang a red top would look nice and so I rifle inventory and find this freebie I got forever ago at Uzuri, which is interesting huh in that they are most know for skins and jewelry. Add some red shoes and all set.

Hah for this next shot is I also got observation that I’ve seen lot of stances and gestures with peace signs and so like that in SL but never one with single finger suitable for sending snapshot anti-valentine to ex types.

From that outfit I keep the jewelry and underwear, and change out the rest and very quickly am ready for a Tet and Chinese New Year look.
So this is new line from Lika Ruby with the dress, and has long and short skirts. Short one with the stockings has that Hey Sailor look huh LOL.
Anyhow the designs of outfits like a qiapo have come long way, historically in SL was always done with top or jacket and a skirt layer and of course mesh for system skirts sucks unless you are standing legs together.
Newer designs are longer jackets or pants layer for tight pencil skirt base and then central prim pieces which then don’t distort the texture like happens with system skirt.
At some point I added the prim nails to the look, I never have much luck with those or prim eyelashes but these seem better than most.
