Was wir nicht denken können, ist für uns unbegreifbar, es sei denn wir haben vorher gedacht, dass selbst undenkbare Dinge irgendwann, irgendwie oder für irgendjemanden denkbar sind. Das macht sie grundsätzlich fassbar, wenn auch für uns nur als Blackboxes. Die Blackboxes lassen uns Dinge nicht begreifen, aber sie ermöglichen die Formierung von reproduzierbaren Differenzen mit kleinen semantischen Markierungen (Verweise auf das Thema, die allerdings nicht zum direkten Verständnis beitragen). Somit sind Blackboxes die Grundvoraussetzung zur inhaltlichen Erschließung von zuvor undenkbaren Sachverhalten. Sie unterscheiden sich von Greyboxes v.a. in der Richtung ihrer Wissensdistribution: Greyboxes stellen die Konzentrierung einer bekannten Bedeutung in einem Begriff dar, während Blackboxes verwendet werden, wenn man keinen wirklichen Zugang zur eigentlichen Bedeutung hat oder wünscht, außer jene, dass dort eine Bedeutung liegen könnte. Ungeöffnete Blackboxes und Greyboxes sind Stereotype bzw. Klischees, d.h. die Art des Umgangs mit ihnen entscheidet über die Durchschlagskraft ihrer Bedeutung. Fundamentalistische Ansätze verschließen sie vollends oder lösen sie vollkommen auf. In der kritischen Methode gilt das Prinzip des Zweifels.

Passei um bom tempo sem escrever que fica até difícil ter o que elucidar agora. Não me entendam mal, não estou dizendo que me falta assunto, o problema neste caso é a grande presença de assuntos.

O certo seria fazer um post sobre as mudanças que vem acontecendo desde o começo do ano até agora, passei até um tempo analisando os fatos ocorridos, mas na hora de escreveu simplesmente descartei. Percebi que é um tema desnecessário, desenterraria acontecimentos do passado, ponderaria atos e atitudes e não era esse o ponto que pretendia chegar, minhas mudanças não deveriam ser comentadas, apenas sentidas.
Outro fato que iluminou minha mente é o fato de eu ter esse WordPress, não seria ele uma forma de perceber minhas mudanças? E foi ele que eu resolvi encarar dessa vez.

Cheguei a pensar que só escrevia tragédias até parar para ler o que eu mesmo registrava nesse meu pequeno espaço. Passei por momentos de profunda tristeza e felicidade aqui. Esse blog é o meu quarto escuro. É onde eu revelo minhas memórias e pensamentos, onde eu enfrento meus fantasmas. Fantasmas esses que sou capaz de compartilhar com meus amigos e aqueles que se interessam. Mas nem sempre foi assim.

Antes de qualquer coisa devo dizer que o aniversário de um ano deste blog está próximo, dia 19 de dezembro. Iniciei de um simples sentimento que era o meu gosto por escrever. Já tive outros blogs e na época que criei esse eu havia abandonado o meu antigo blog por um ano e até pensei em voltar com ele, mas não achei que seria pertinente. Aquele meu pequeno templo antigo se referia a um Lucas que também estava ficando no passado, aquela fase adolescente que todo mundo tem e que acha que vai persistir para o resto da vida até perceber que se trata de um mundo próprio que deve deixar de existir para se adaptar a comunidade geral. Foi o momento de transição entre o ser conhecido por Rukasu para a nova alcunha, BlackBox.

A pergunta agora era por onde começar? Pretendia me manter no Blogger, mas o site estava passando por mudanças que não estavam me agradando muito, minha alternativa seguinte foi o Live Journal que nem me lembro de ter passado muito tempo, achei feio. A partir daí me senti um pouco abandonado, não conhecia nenhuma outra saída até que um amigo comentou do WordPress.

De início seria apenas um blog para comentar, de forma subjetiva, coisas que aconteciam na minha vida. Essa foi a verdadeira mudança. Saí de um blog infanto-juvenil que comentava de mim e alguns outros assuntos que estavam entrando na mainstream da época para migrar para textos mais complexos e centrados. Em um simples ano até minha forma subjetiva de escrever mudou.

E que mais mudanças aconteçam, muitos anos estão por vir.

Talk about figuring out something the hard way, I had to add print functionality to a flash advent calendar and upon testing in a browser began printing pages that would first print what I was expecting but then added a lovely black box at the bottom of the page. I had added a white background box to the page at the beginning but after much beating my head came to realize that it just wasn’t long enough and the printer interpreted the empty space as black, I extended the white box and voila! page prints only the items I want and no more black box. I’d seen a few posts about this with no solution so hopefully this helps someone else out there beating their heads over something silly.

Our favorite Danes (second only to Tina Dico) have already completed a new album that was rumored to be called This Is Still Alphabeat, but have announced that it will actually be The Spell, which is a song that will be on the album. The Spell is going to be out in October in an already crammed year. Songs that will be included are “Heart Failure,” “DJ,” “Chess” and the title track. The band say that they are not staying with the sound they came popular for but will take a different route in inspiration of 90s’ early house bands like Blackbox and Snap!, which is super appealing. We love both bands.

Here’s what they had to say about it:

Auf meiner Suche nach der Terminologie, die den Dümpel sachgerecht beschreibt, hatte ich gestern noch mit zwei Informatikern gesprochen. Mit dem einen länger mit dem andern nur kurz. Dabei sind folgenden Stichworte gefallen, denen ich noch etwas nachrecherchieren sollte

Black Box
Eine Black Box ist ein Fachausdruck für ein System, Gerät oder Objekt, das einen Input zu einem Output verarbeitet. Dabei beachtet man absichtlich nur den Input, den Output und die Charakteristiken des Transfers, ohne etwas über die innere Beschaffenheit der Blackbox zu wissen. Dies hat den Vorteil, dass man ein System auf einer abstrakten Ebene beschreiben kann. Laut dem Informatiker ist dies auch die Idee bei objekt-orientierten Programmiersprachen. Programmierer können Methoden schaffen, die als Blackboxes funktionieren. Die Methoden benötigen einen Input und liefern dazu den gewünschten Output. Andere Programmierer können dann diese Methode aufrufen ohne wissen zu müssen, wie sie genau arbeitet.
Nicht nur in der Informatik gibt es Blackboxes. Auch andere Dinge können als Blackbox bezeichnet werden: Transistoren, Menschen, internet, Algorithmen. Black Box bei Wikipedia

UML
Eine standardisierte “Sprache” um Informatik-Prozesse abstrakt zu beschreiben ist UML. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine universale Abstraktionssprache. Sie hält auch Flowchart-Begriffe und Symbole bereit: Diese sind beispielsweise: Data – Input, Manual Input, Predefined Process, Output.

Nassi-Shneidermann Diagramm
Ein andere Möglichkeit, Programm-Prozess abstrakt zu beschreiben, ist das Nassi-Shneidermann-Diagramm. Es wird in Texten zu Algorithmen-Theorie anscheinend häufig verwendet und ist ein Diagrammtyp zur Darstellung von Programmentwürfen.

EVA (von Neumann)
Ein anderer Informatiker sagte mir, dass in den Informatik-Grundkursen auch das EVA-Modell von John von Neumann (ja der Atombombenbauer) gelehrt wird. EVA steht für Eingabe-Verarbeitung-Ausgabe (Input-Processing-Output). Von Neumann hat in einer Publikation 1945 seine von Neumann-Maschine vorgestellt, ein seriell arbeitender Computer.

I/O Device
Bei Hardware spricht man in der Informatik auch von I/O device (Input/Output Device). Das sind auch abstrakte Information Processing System. Diese sind jedoch nicht zu verwechseln mit dem input-output-model, einem ökonomischer Ansatz um die Produktivität und den Konsum von Volkswirtschaften zu analysieren.

Bytes vs. Daten vs. Information vs Wissen
Bei der Diskussion, um die verschiedenen Typen von Inputs und Outputs wurde mir gesagt, dass Informatiker auch gerne die Unterscheidung in Bytes, Daten, Information und Wissen vornehmen. Dabei handelt es sich um jeweils höhere Stufen in der Informationsverarbeitung. Hinweise dazu finden sich beispielsweise bei Pelka (2003, S. 33) oder Allesso/Smith (2009 S. 33).

Zusatzeinspeisung und Chaostaste

Diese Nacht ist die erste Weiche entkoppelt und direkt an die BlackBox (BB) angeschlossen worden. Die Diagonale der Weiche wurde am Übergang gegeneinander isoliert, so dass der Strom von Slot 1 nicht auf Slot 2 übertragen wird. Nachdem noch eine Zusatzeinspeisung angebracht wurde, gabs eine erste Testfahrt, alles funktioniert.

Auf dem kleinen Bild sieht man noch einen kleinen orangen Schalter. Dies ist die Chaostaste, wovon 2 vorhanden sind. Ein Druck, und im Digitalbetrieb wird der Strom auf den Slots abgeschaltet. So rauschen Ghosts nicht schmerzfrei in eine Unfallstelle und alle Rennergebnisse bleiben erhalten, da der Rundenzähler den Strom unabhängig von den Slots bekommt. Die zweite Weiche folgt am Wochenende, da mir soeben das Kabel ausging (mittlerweile liegen 15m 30m Kabel rund um die Bahn). Die Schalter werden auch nochmal ausgetauscht gegen einpolige Exemplare, die leuchten, wenn der Strom fließt.

Edit: tatsächlich warens 2x 10m + 1×5m Doppelleitung, so dass ich bereits bei 30m Kabel bin. 2 neue Rollen 10m-Kabel in rot und schwarz sind schon gekauft, und ich denke, am Sonntag schaffe ich den Abschluss des Umbaus. Jetzt gehts erstmal auf zu Kalle, und ich freu mich dort auf die ersten Runden mit dem Nissan R390

“Excuse me…pilot? Can you keep your radio communications down…I’m trying to sleep.”    

In the good old days prior to 9/11, it was possible to visit the cockpit during a flight. I don’t think they admitted just anyone and probably denied access to anyone wearing a bandolier of large-calibre bullets even then, but children were regularly taken to the cockpit for a look around. Today, I’m not sure that even Britney Spears dressed as a schoolgirl would get past the 3-inch thick armour-plated door before a slot opened and she was hosed-down with high-pressure tear gas and a barrage of taser fire.

It’s a shame really, because flying is a lot more exciting than sitting in a pressurised bubble with a plastic tray of luke-warm food and the germs of 400 other people. It’s just that you rarely get a hint of flying at all…which for some people is probably a very good thing!

Very small commuter aircraft often have no division between the passengers and the pilot. I remember one such flight in northern Ontario when the pilot simply turned around in his seat and asked the dozen passengers to let him know if it was too hot or too cold. Somehow, attempting to tap the average 747 pilot on the shoulder would likely end up with you pinned to the floor by several burly plain-clothed Skymarshalls and shot out of a torpedo tube to Guantanamo…or wherever they send people now.

I love watching what the pilot does. Sometimes his or her actions can actually be a little disconcerting, like when he starts fighting with instruments or controls or leans forward and frantically scans the sky all around for something unseen that’s clearly of considerable concern.

Some airlines used to have cameras which provided passengers with live views of take-off or landing. That stopped when it was rumoured that passengers aboard a doomed DC-10 may well have watched themselves cartwheel into the runway. That was many years ago and I believe that some airlines now offer that again on one of the channels of the backseat personal entertainment system.

United Airlines have an audio channel that provides you with all the communications between your aircraft and air traffic control. I love spending the entire flight listening to my aircraft being handed off from Albuquerque control to Salt Lake centre and so on, or hearing the pilot request permission to change course to avoid some particularly rough weather. ATC re-direct us to 33,000 feet on a new heading and the next thing I know, my aircraft is banking and climbing. Such eavesdropping adds a new dimension to a flight and makes a 5-hour cross-continental haul far more interesting than watching a re-run of a 7-year old sitcom on my backseat screen.

Even if there’s no live video or audio, most airlines do at least now offer the ‘Map’: the video channel that plots your progress on a moving map and provides you with live information on your altitude, speed, outside temperature and your ever-changing time of arrival.

Of course, none of these are quite as interesting as sitting in the cockpit itself, but all of them beat being arrested by Homeland Security and banned for life for simply knocking on the pilot’s door!

A French nuclear submarine equipped with advanced surveillance technology has been sent to help find the Air France Flight 447 jet that disappeared over the Atlantic on June 1.

The hope is that the submarine will help find the flight data recorders, a discovery that would provide aviation authorities with concrete information concerning what caused the plane, carrying 228 people, to fall from the sky.

Recent reports have suggested the flight experienced severe turbulence as it hit a storm that produced 100 mph updrafts. That storm was also said to have pulled water up from the ocean and as that moisture reached the plane it quickly froze causing added problems to the pilots’ ability to control the flight.

Search crews initially thought they had discovered debris from the flight as well as an oil slick but it has since been determined that they were not from the Air France jet.

Following the Air France plane crash. I can’t help to wonder whether the black box even have any GPS tracking system. Or could it be easily replace with some sort of continous data transfer from the plane to remote servers of Air France.  Or simple put multiple black box instead of just one and equip with remote GPS tracking on each one. A black box that could last a few hours without power. Charge with batteries if ever any misfortune happen. I was an avid fan of Plane Crash Investigation on Geographic Channel, and often the reasons of airplane crashes is never just one occurence of failures.

AccuWeather.com reports after extensive research into the weather that may have affected the Air France Airbus A330 on Sunday evening, it is believed that the plane flew into thunderstorms, and the updrafts or turbulence associated with those storms in addition to lightning may have played a role.

The projected flight path of flight 447 took the aircraft near Sao Luis, Brazil, where it may have first encountered a thunderstorm. Later in the flight, the plane appears to have flown into or near a large cluster thunderstorms that were in the development stages northeast of Fernando De Noronha, which is located off Brazil’s northern coast, and along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), the belt of low pressure that surrounds the Earth at the equator.

Based on weather information from Fernando De Noronha, the updrafts associated with the thunderstorms may have reached up to 100 mph. Such an updraft would lead to severe turbulence for any aircraft. In addition, the storms were towering up to 50,000 feet and would have been producing lightning. The Air France plane would have encountered these stormy conditions, which could have resulted in either some structural failure or electrical failure as noted in the communications between the Airplane and Air France headquarters.

Based on satellite information, the Air France flight had little chance of going around the storms given that they stretched for over 400 miles and were developing along the flight path. The airplane was flying at cruising altitude of 35,000 feet. With the updrafts pushing the storms up to 50,000 feet, the plane had to fly through the storms and not over them.

Despite the presence of the storms Sunday evening, the only lightning detected along the flight path was near Sao Luis, Brazil. Lightning strikes were not being detected with the storms northeast of Fernando De Noronha and along the ITCZ at the time.

According to Brazilian aviation officials, wreckage that has been found in the Atlantic Ocean about 400 miles off the northern coast of Brazil could be from the Air France aircraft. The debris sighted includes metallic objects and plane seats. This wreckage still hasn’t been confirmed as being part of the Air France jet.

Tropical thunderstorms and the lightning patterns generated by them are different from storms that typically occur over the United States. Studies have shown that the top region of tropical thunderstorms is highly charged and more conducive to lightning, which indicates that an airplane flying near the top of a tropical thunderstorm could be more susceptible to a lightning strike. Tropical thunderstorms are also notorious for producing frequent cloud-to-cloud, as well as cloud-to-air lightning.
