11-29 UPDATE

GAME ON!!! – KFMB / CBS 1:05 PM – PDT

11-28 Update

The Chargers announced Friday they have received another 24-hour extension to sell enough tickets to lift the TV blackout for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The club has until 1:05 p.m. Saturday to sell the remaining 1,350 tickets. The Chargers have a streak of 44 consecutive regular-season and postseason games shown on local TV. The last blackout was Nov. 7, 2004 against New Orleans.

11-27 Update – We’ll update again at 1:06PM after the announcement has been made.

The expected 24-hour extension was granted yesterday, pushing the deadline to 1:05 p.m. today for the Chargers to sell more than 3,000 tickets and get the blackout lifted for the CBS telecast.

11-26 Update

By Kevin Acee

Thursday, November 26, 2009 at midnight

SAN DIEGO – Chargers players’ ticket orders were processed yesterday, significantly dropping the number needed to be sold to avoid a local television blackout.

Still, about 3,500 tickets remain for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs to be considered a sellout. If those tickets are not sold by today (or, more likely, tomorrow) at 1:05 p.m., a Chargers regular-season game will not be on local TV for the first time since Nov. 7, 2004.

“Waiting and seeing,” is all Chargers COO Jim Steeg would say yesterday.

Even if the Chargers receive the expected 24-hour extension, likely to be granted due to the Thanksgiving holiday, this is by far the most tickets remaining this late in the week. Steeg estimated there were 1,500 left the Wednesday before the home opener.

In some ways this game was set up to be the biggest draw of the season, as it is a celebration of the team’s all-time 50 greatest players (plus three coaches). Of the 49 living players and coaches, 43 are expected to participate in the pregame ceremony.

Junior Seau (Patriots) and John Carney (Saints) are still playing, Gill Byrd is coaching (Bears) and Rodney Harrison works for NBC on “Sunday Night Football.” Willie Buchanon and Bobby Ross are unable to attend due to personal reasons.

Read The Article

11-25 Update

I just called the Chargers’ ticket office. No update was available for today yet, but the count at the end of yesterday was around 6,000. That doesn’t bode well for SD Chargers fans. I am still holding out hope that the local CBS affiliate will buy up any remaining tickets, but if not; I heard you can watch the Chargers game online at www.chargers.com

11/23 – Update

There are approximately 7,000 seats available for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs Nov. 29th. This is the first time in a long time the Chargers have faced a legitimate blackout possibility. The Chiefs are not a good team this year and got destroyed by the Chargers in Kansas City on Oct. 25th. That being said, neither of these teams are the same now as they were then. The Chargers were 2-3 last time they played and are now 7-3 after a five game win streak. The Chiefs released problematic running back, Larry Johnson two weeks ago and just defeated the World Champion Steelers in OT yesterday by a score of 27-24. I think the Chargers will be heavily favored in this match-up, but there is no predicting what can happen on any given Sunday in the NFL.

Video number 96 and a special favourite of mine. I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while. A few years ago I got into a band called Muse. I was so impressed with their music that I purchased all their albums in one hit
The song I’ve covered in this video is from the excellent album “Absolution”, and the title of it is “Blackout”. I happen to think that it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. There’s nothing spectacular about the music, but the words are so moving in their simplicity and the expression is wonderful. That’s something I hope I’ve managed to get across in my version.

Here is my take on “Blackout”.

My subscribers have climbed up to 1,619.
My channel has been perused 36,499 times.
The total viewing figures for all my videos now stands at 831,005.

*Por Felipe Bartolomeo Moreira

(( imagem retirada daqui))

I came across this post today that featured the most famous quotes (phrases, whatever) in pop culture of the decade that we will never ever forget. So I wanted to share my favorite ten with you from the list.

1.

“Yo, Taylor. I’m really happy for you, Imma let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” – Kanye West really stepped in it when he stole the mic from singer Taylor Swift as she accepts the “Best Female Video” award during the MTV Video Music Awards (2009)

2.

“Make it work!” – The wildly popular Tim Gunn always encouraged contestants on “Project Runway” to make it happen through this glorious catchphrase. Another favorite? “Carry on!” (2004)

3.

“George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” – Kanye West shocked the nation when he went off-script during a live televised Hurricane Katrina fundraiser and ripped into the then- president for how he handled (or didn’t) hurricane relief. (2005)

4.

“Here’s the problem. You don’t know the history of psychiatry. I do. … Matt, Matt, Matt, you don’t even– you’re glib. You don’t even know what Ritalin is.” – Tom Cruise went off on Matt Lauer on the “Today Show” and we were scared. More crazy to follow. (2005)

5.

“It’s Britney, bitch!” – Britney Spears’ first words on her comeback album “Blackout” let us know that she was done with all the crazy head-shaving, umbrella-flailing antics and was back for reals. (2007)

6.

“Don’t tase me, bro!” – University of Florida student Andrew Meyer begged security not to shoot him with a Taser during a John Kerry forum and it has been considered a cultural touchstone ever since. (2007).

7.

“Yes We Can.” – President Obama had a genius, trance-inducing slogan chanted by poster-wielding fans that became so wildly popular advertisers piggy-backed off the phrase. (2008)

8.

“You’re fired!” – Donald Trump’s signature line when eliminating wannabe business folks became wildly popular and then became all too tired. (2004)

9.

“She’s got double D’s! You can’t cover those suckers up!” – Joe Simpson made everyone feel a little dirty when he commented on daughter Jessica’s rack. His omnipresence in the songbird’s life always seemed a bit odd but this comment really skeeved us out. (2005)

10.

“I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.” – Miss California Carrie Prejean did anything but endear herself to gays in America and beyond when she uttered this phrase when asked about same-sex marriage during the 2009 Miss USA pageant. (2009)

Good news, the Chiefs/Charger game, after weeks of uncertainty, will be shown on CBS. The San Diego Union Tribune reports. The discussion on the comment boards are divisive as usual. Some fans complain about ticket prices, some fans complain about the lack of loyalty… I can see both sides, although I think a lot of people can afford to go to the games but “claim” the Chargers just for show.

The economy stinks and some people can’t afford tickets – I get that, but those who can afford tickets and live in town, but don’t go to games… Step your game up.

I understand why the Charger organization puts it to the fans when the team is not selling out. Sometimes their scare tack-ticks get really old. Like when they plant seeds weeks in advance about the game being blacked out. I understand it’s a business. I would like to see some other method, besides scaring the fans to get people in seats. Can anyone say mini-plan?

This post is close to my heart as this is my first sketch which I can say is my own( no ref included). I have used a simple concept here – Projecting white in black.

In all my previous sketches and sketches henceforth, its always a black on white background and when one deviates from the norm it sure does make heads turn. I had to scout for the right figure to portray in this type of sketch as only an outline can be shown without any details. And for those white spots u c, I did try to cover them up as much as i can but sometimes I accidently encroached into the sketch. Hence just posted it as it is. So much of charcoal for the sketch that I did not really sketch!!

A meta é reduzir sempre.

Eileen, Polly and Mike are historians at Oxford in 2060, where a time-travel machine can send researchers into the past to study history as it happens. Eileen is observing the children evacuated to the British countryside during World War II, while Mike is studying the heroes of Dunkirk and Polly is sent to London during the Blitz. But back in 2060, the future of time travel grows increasingly uncertain, and the scheduled “drops” more erratic. What will happen to Eileen, Polly and Mike if they can’t get home again?

Four months, Eileen thought, separating them. I only have to put up with them for four more months. “No one’s going to invade,” she said firmly, “tonight or any other night.”

“‘Ow do you know?” Alf demanded.

“You can’t know something what ain’t ‘appened yet,” Binnie said.

“Why ain’t ‘e going to?” Alf persisted.

Because the British Army will get away from him at Dunkirk, Eileen thought, and he’ll lose the Battle of Britain and begin bombing London to bring the British to their knees. But it won’t work. They’ll stand up to him. It’ll be their finest hour. And it will lose him the war.

“Because I have faith in the future,” she said, and, getting a firmer grip on Alf and Binnie, set off with them into the darkness.

Antes do pensamento 6, eu dormi. Cuidado!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Blackout (A Riley Covington Thriller)
Thriller is indeed accurate.
This is my first book by these authors to read. I do not think that it will be my last.
Riley Covington is a pro football player. He is also a hero. A former member of the US Armed Forces, and an expert in various terrorist weapons, Covington is in great demand.
Covington is also a Christian. That means that all the he does is influenced by his commitment to Jesus.
Covington is inexplicably traded away from the team that he loves to play on. He is moved to Washington only to find that he is not wanted by that team’s owner. He learns, however, that the government is behind his move, and that they have a need for him.
Covington is to seek to prevent another terrorist attack that could lead to a blackout of the whole nation. In the midst of all of this, he is torn between his feelings for two very different women.
What will the outcome of all of this be?
One thing is for sure, the outcome is that I desire to read more books about Riley Covington.

Thanks to Christy Wong of Tyndale for this advance reader copy of Blackout.

Christopher Sharpe

Boca Raton, Florida Any news clip that starts with, “He had nailed and duct-taped blankets to the windows and set the air conditioner on high in attempts to conceal the body decaying…” is going to one that grabs my attention. This particular tale seemed to grow stranger by the paragraph. And I’m afraid to admit, if it appeared strange to me, the rest of you are really going to enjoy it. So, without further ado, allow me to introduce you to Christopher Sharpe (49) and his ex-girlfriend, Pamela Powers (46).

Pamela Powers

Pamela is said to have lived a life of glamour. Once a Playboy model, she was exposed to a life of hobnobbing with some celebrities. How the fuck she ran across Christopher is a mind-bender. I believe it’s safe to say the last years of her life didn’t go so well. She and Christopher lived together off and on – and I imagine the “off” times more than likely followed them beating the shit out of each other which has been documented with the numerous arrests they both shared for battery. At least they shared in the responsibility.

I think it’s also safe to say they were in the “off” cycle of their relationship around Halloween. That’s when her roommate last saw her – as she left their place to attend a party. He called the police a couple of weeks later to report a concern and hesitated that long because he thought she had either decided to go on a vacation or had hooked back up with her old ass beau.

The cops went to Christopher’s house and knocked upon the door but he wasn’t gonna have any company at that time I guess. He was kind of busy watching Pamela rot on the floor. It was shortly before midnight the following evening that police executed a search warrant and broke into the house. There they found Christopher asleep on the couch and I imagine a bit surprised. Especially when they found a 2 1/2-week rotting naked body smelling to high heaven melting onto other surfaces.

Police said Sharpe appeared puzzled about her body there doing all sorts of funky things and stated he must have been in a black-out. “He said that in his mind, there was no way he could do anything like this.” Although it’s a stretch and a big one at that, say he stabbed her numerous times (which is what the preliminary accounts state), wouldn’t that smell bring him straight out of a black out at some point in time? I mean, come on…that fucking stinks like nothing you’ve ever smelled. Surely you’ve smelled what a dead mouse is like…they’re tiny. Compound that smell and you’ll be on the same page as me.

I think the most bizarre aspect of this story is the great lengths he went through to try to control the smell…in a black out mind you. He nailed and taped blankets over the windows, cranked the AC, and get this: he lathered her smelly corpse with air fresheners and baby powder. Oh. Hell. Yes. That’s some serious black-out brain power happening there, folks.

Needless to say, Christopher was so busted. For murder. No shit.

Wonder what scents he tried…

I woke up alone Saturday morning in The AA’s hard bed. It was 7:30 and I expected to be alone, as I’d woken up when he left to go sleep on the couch around 4:30, so I wasn’t surprised. But I was cold and awake and figured I might as well go home to my babies. Quietly I moved to the living room, put on my shoes and then walked over to the couch where The AA was sleeping so soundly. I sat down next to him, leaned down and kissed his neck softly. His arm came up around my waist, but he didn’t even wake up. He was dead asleep. I put my hand on his arm. “I’m going now,” I whispered and started to get up.

“What? Why?” He sat up. “Lie down here with me.” And so I did. I lied in front of him on the couch, my arm all twisted up between us but I didn’t care because I was next to him. That was all I cared about right then. He was warm and comfortable and safe. His lips were soft, his body hard.

“I’m cold,” I told him and he pulled the blanket over me.

“You’re cold now, but you weren’t cold when we were at Target last night?”

“Huh?”

“Sitting on the red ball in front of Target. I was cold. You weren’t.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked him.

“You don’t remember the red balls at Target? The ones in front?”

“I know what the red balls in front of Target are, but when was this?”

“Are you serious?” He looked down at me with shock on his face. I thought he’d been messing with me. He wasn’t. “You don’t remember going to Target last night? Sitting on the red ball?”

“Wow, no.” I got nervous then.

“Barista, are you serious?”

“Yes, I’m afraid so.”

“Do you remember when we ran up the hill?”

Vague little pieces, like dreams you can kinda remember, floated through my head. “Sounds familiar.”

“Do you remember me giving you my jacket because you were cold?”

“Yes! I remember that!” Really I just felt the scratchiness of the overwashed fleece on my hands as he spoke. I remembered the arms being too long. I remembered nothing else.

“Do you remember when we scaled the wall?”

“Yes, yes!” I got excited! Finally! I was remembering things! I remembered scaling the wall. “Coming up through the back on the way home? Yes, I remember!”

“Barista…”

“I know.”

“This is kinda scary.”

“I know.”

“I don’t understand. Are you blocking things you don’t want to remember? Is something happening that’s making you block these things out?”

“I don’t know, I can’t understand it. Did I seem really drunk?”

“Not at all. I mean, you were tipsy, but not drunk.”

“This is scary.”

“This is scary,” he repeated.

“I didn’t drink that much, AA. I had like 4 glasses of wine over 5.5 hours. That’s not that much!”

“What could be going on here?” He looked concerned. I put my head on his chest and sighed.

“I don’t know. I really just don’t know.”

We lied there for a few minutes, his arms around me, my hands on his bare skin. I remembered watching a movie…or at least turning on a movie. I remember falling asleep on the couch while we were watching it. I remember waking up and The AA asking me if I wanted to sleep on the couch or in his bed. I remember telling him that I was going to sleep in his bed with him and him telling me that “We can’t sleep in the bed together with my sister here” and me asking “Why not?” and him telling me “Because I don’t want her to think differently of you.” I remember convincing him to come to his bed and lie down with me for a few minutes. I remember cuddling up next to him and both of us falling asleep. And I remember him leaving to go to the couch a couple hours later.

Seems the only thing I didn’t remember was Target. Did something happen at Target? Why was I blocking it so hard?

“Let’s go to the store so I can get something to cook for breakfast,” The AA said, and we got up and went to – where else – Target. As he drove I hoped I’d remember, but I didn’t. I was anxious, embarrassed, seriously bothered by what I’d discovered.

He made me sausage, bacon, toast, pancakes. We talked about eating healthier. He asked me what that pill was that I just took, I avoided the question. At 10:30 I headed home to my pups and he headed out to get his sister’s oil changed for her.

As I thought about it throughout the day I realized that my anti-anxiety drug mixed with alcohol had to be the culprit here. There was no other logical explanation for it. This morning I researched the combo and found that it does, in fact, cause blackouts. And knowing this really tells me only one thing – I’m done drinking.

God help me if I try to convince myself that just a couple glasses of wine is ok. God help me if I actually let this happen again.
