Snitching

In a society that thrives on images and adapts to lifestyles that aren’t necessarily belonging to everyone, the term snitching seems to saturate the topic of conversation. Taking a factual approach we find that snitching is to become an informant or revealing confidential information. Now no one can stand a rat or an untrustworthy comrade. Betrayal is a hard act to forgive and accept. There is no room for snitching or squealing. Or is it? As I’ve lived on this earth and walked the turf of many neighborhoods, every place has their own code of doing things. But across the board snitching is not allowed! To snitch or not to snitch. That really is the question! I’ve experienced and witnessed the misuse and manipulation of the law and grew a bitter feeling for a lot of the judicial system. I feel it’s better to resolve matters without the law due to this. They are human also! But as I grow wiser I place things in perspective. Due to not snitching: a father sits incarcerated not being able to raise his children, while his comrades are supposedly taking care of them. Due to not snitching the dope boys and out of control “children” run and ruin the neighborhood; with elders and kids afraid to go outside. Due to not snitching a girl grows up into a battered, abused, and sexually violated woman. Now I could respect this code of not snitching if morals were in order. If a person is flat out wrong or guilty, that sucker should own up to his “mess-ups”. What’s weird today though is everyday people seem to hold allegiance to those out doing wrong. And these everyday people are not affiliated with it or benefiting from it at all. Okay maybe they get to lie under the bed in fear of their life being taken but let’s not boast. I can even understand someone not snitching due to fright. They have to live there. But when the tables are turned and it is your house that has been burglarized or your child that has been murdered; what do people ask for on the evening news? In a pitiful voice, “Please turn yourself in” or “If anyone knows anything please call this number”. Well it is only what we are allowing!

POINT BLANK:

A lot of kids are compromised into bad situations and positions because they have no outlet and feel if they did tell they would be considered a snitch. They succumb to a messed up situation with someone they had no affiliation with. But what if he/she looks up to someone that promotes such a hush lifestyle. Hmmmm!

One of the most frequent problems in wordpress is to see a blank page on the admin panel after logging in.
I too had a similar one on upgrading the wordpress to 2.8.6.

Well to troubleshoot, try out the following:

• Delete the browser cache and retry to login.
• Rename the plugins folder and try again.
• Rename the themes folder and try again(this will make the default theme active and login again.)
• Most importantly, make sure in any of your personally coded files like in custom->custom-functions.php there aren’t any two lines blank. This is not allowed in php. Keep all the code intact.
• Still not working…make sure your theme is compatible.
• Make sure all the plugins are compatible.
• In the .htaccess file on the top add the following code Its a hidden file in the top most directory-..make sure yourf ftp client shows hidden files.)
  DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php

One of the above solution has to work.

The snow that hid between furrowed rows

collected somber whispers of early light

and lifted just enough of nighttime’s shroud

to make the going there a thing a man

could do.

……….. He stood a while, confused, unsure

of where to take a step.  “I’ve lost my way,”

He thought, “I’ve got to get a grip.”  He moved

his hands along the rifle stock to shift

the weight and ease the load.

……..

………………………………………. “I’m here.”

He heard his father’s voice again, still soft,

“I’m here.”

Then, from the gray, a form emerged

and walked ahead as if to lead the way.

He knew this form from years of watching it:

The heavy shoulders and hunting coat of red

and black; the heavy boots that marked a gait

as sure as it was long; the easy smile;

the eyes of welcome warmth; the air of grace.

“I’m lost,” he said aloud.  “And I’m afraid.”

The form, familiar, stood atop a rise

and turned to him.  “You’re where you’re meant to be.

You’re mine: You’re strong.  We’ll hunt this land for years

to come.   I’m just across this other side,

down out of sight, but you’ll still know I’m here.

This is a super quick card and I LOVE how it turned out.  I basically stole the idea from Kristina Werner’s card.  I used the Season of blessings stamp from Unity’s September 2009 KOM.  I need to use more stamps from this month.  They seem to be eluding me somehow.  I asked a friend today if she thought the saying was more for Thanksgiving or could I used it for a Christmas card?  She said, “Christmas is a blessed event, so why wouldn’t it be a season of blessings?”  I agreed.

The sentiment is embossed in Midnight Black embossing powder. Urban Prairie paper from Basic Grey has a repeat appearance in this card as well.  I love how this paper looked like a Christmas sweater and it wasn’t even trying to be.  In some spots you might find a part of a lady bug or caterpillar, but I tried to avoid them when I was punching out the ornaments.  Haven’t really heard of a Christmas lady bug… yet.

The ornaments were punched out from with an EK Success punch.  I don’t have the exact name, but all three ornaments are in one punch.  I will take a wild guess that the name has “ornaments” somewhere in it.  I just free handed the loops with a Sharpie pen and also used a ruler to draw the outline.

Continuing the series of playful and participatory events exploring language and its parameters, writers collaborate with artists to produce games and scenarios that challenge the audiences’ relationship to language.

This Word Play event is hosted by imprint and project platform antepress. The audience is invited to create six unique ‘artist books’, each based on a famous work of art. The books will be published on the night and will be downloadable from the antepress website. antepress was set up in 2008 by Julia Calver, Patrick Coyle, Cressida Kocienski, Claire Nichols, Tamarin Norwood and Gemma Sharpe.

How many times have you ever started to write sometihng down and then hit the backspace button until you were again staring at a blank page.  Its monday morning and I am sitting the coaches office at school listening to the silence, ahh the golden silence, of the locker room.  The only thing making noise is the old refrigerator next to my desk.  The soft buzz is the comforting white noise that keeps the mice and roaches from running rampant in the office.  Soon there will be 200 highschool kids hollaring at eachother bumping and shoving, slapping hands and giving the one armed “thug hug”, telling stories however true or untrue about the exploits and adventures of their weekends.  These loud rambunctuous kids have no idea that they have the world at their finger tips.  Let me rephrase that, most of these kids have no idea, some of these kids just dont give a crap. They dont give a crap about anything but themselves and are destined to fail because that is what THEY think people expect of them.  The mentality is if people expect it, it must be ok.  Although I have only been teaching for 9 years I can see how so many teachers end up broken and tired and disgruntaled.  Not postal worker disgruntaled but just a general kind of disliking for coming to work everyday.  I have been banging my head against the proverbial wall trying to teach these kids that just because thats the way it is, its not the way it has to be.  The people that expect you to fail are the minority and the people that know you are capable of so many great things are waiting for you to have the courage to jump, just so they can catch you.  A teaching career is such a long time to be unhappy and to have a case of the fuck its.  I wish some of these kids had a back space button and I could turn them into a blank page
