I got this blazer from Goodwill for $3. It’s in pretty good condition and though it was big, I knew it would make a great DIY project. This is what it looks like on me:

After a couple of hours cutting of the sleeves, add a dart to the sides and finishing up the edges…I have vest! It reminds me a bit of a boyfriend vest, but I don’t know if that was what I originally wanted. Perhaps I should reshape the sleeve area to make it look like a halter…kind of like Kate Holmes, but with a back.

This is the almost finished result…one sleeve isn’t done so it looks bigger on one side.

What do you think…should I keep it as is, or go for the halter effect?

Nike Sportswear has selectively given the Blazer the velcro strap treatment in place of laces. We previewed the Nike Blazer AC High LE in red leather back in August. More recently we spotlighted theNike Blazer High V Lux in an all black leather build, which is set to release in December at shops with Nike tier zero accounts. These are growing on me. Would i wear them no, buy them, maybe. But if i saw someone else rockin em much respect.

The Nike Blazer in a velcro build how now released in a medium grey and black color combo in Japan. The red colorway has also surfaced in Japan,both are now at Mischief.

To make up for the lack of clothes shopping I did on Black Friday, I went shopping today (Sat) with my mom & sis. The day started with a pleasant sunny Saturday afternoon lunch at Naan N Curry on Irving MMMMm & I found really close free parking AND Crossroads store moved only couple stores down WOOOOHOO! I didn’t have time to really think about buying stuff b/c I had to meet up my mom.

We attempted to go to downtown SF, but just ended up driving by b/c the crowd was a little overwhelming for shopping. Decided to go to Nordstrom Rack! Love this place! Got 2 shirts: 1. tank top w/longer back & 2. racerback top w/fringed beading! Then dropped by Stonestown to Nordstrom haha & found myself a great deal on a double breasted blazer!

I found a new way to wear scarves! Will take pics of that some other time… anyway, here are some pics of the beaded top & blazer

1. Hunter Boots:

My chocolate/grey Hunter wellingtons have been my go to shoe for daily treks around the city.  In Chicago (especially around this time of year) it is hard to predict what the weather will be like and with my Hunters on I feel stylish, comfortable, and prepared for anything when I walk out the door.   I also have the welly socks that line the inside of the boots and fold over the top.  I am forward to testing how toasty these will stay during the winter.

The pocket square owes its origins to the handkerchief, which has been used for over 600 years and originated in England. Initially, the handkerchief was adopted by the upper class, but by the 17th century it was common among all classes throughout western Europe. Originally, handkerchiefs were kept in trouser pockets. However, by the 19th century, as two-piece suits came into fashion, men started to place a clean handkerchief into their jacket’s breast pocket. By the 1920’s the pocket square had become more of a fashion accessory, especially after folding techniques were developed. The pocket square as accessory was cemented in the 40’s and 50’s after disposable tissue was introduced.

Always appropriate, a pocket square is a fantastic way to add colour and detail to any sport jacket, blazer, suit or tuxedo. The only situation in which we would not recommend sporting a pocket square would be if you’re wearing a boutineer.    

A boutineer with a pocket square seems crowded and overdone. One should preclude the other.

When accessorizing an outfit with a pocket square, try to match it with your tie or shirt. If your approach to clothing is more traditional, then feel free to use a white pocket square. Our favourite look is combining an Antonio Valente sport jacket with one of our sport shirts, worn open, and a pocket square made from the same shirt fabric.

We all have our favorite shops to visit whenever we’re in the mall. Sometimes, we end up spending hours rummaging through a single store’s stocks for great deals! Don’ deny it! I bet you can relate

1. FULLY BOOKED  – We can spend the whole day inside Fully Booked! The wide range of books they have, the useless-but-you-end-up-buying items, the discounts they offer to discount card holders, the nice people at the customer service area (ok, not all), the ease of finding a book (just go to the customer service desk and they’ll get the book for you!) and reserving for a copy (just in case it’s out of stock) and a whole lot more! We’re totally hooked to Fully Booked!

2. TRUE VALUE/ACE HARDWARE/HANDYMAN – we both love going to hardware stores. My husband goes straight to home improvement items while I go straight to the dog section then window shop for knick-knacks and other useless items.

3. AND OF COURSE… ZARA! *dreamy eyes*.  See what we purchased on Saturday morning — We were supposed to watch a movie but couldn’t resist the urge to “just look” inside Zara.  Result= empty pockets and big smiles on our faces.   


1. My Super Duper Delayed Birthday Gift for my Husband

Don’t you always find it hard to find the perfect gift for your partner?

I do.  I always want to make sure that my gift will be the best gift he received for the year  

So when he picked up this jacket, I immediately knew that it was going to be my long overdue birthday gift for him.

I love how it falls perfectly on his shoulder, the details on the waterproof zipper and the material it’s made of, PERFECT!

2. Padded Shoulders and Studs

My friend, C, introduced me to different types of Power Shoulders.  I’ve tried on a few but it never really suited me as well as it suited her.  So I had to settle.  Padded Shoulders for me (the term is so 80’s, haha!)

As I stepped inside Zara this jacket immediately caught my eye.  I just love how it looks, the fit, the details…  Lovely!

3. Studded Vest

Uh. Oh!  I think I’m developing a subtle addiction to studs!  As long as the studs aren’t so out there that I look like a rocker chick, I’m ok with it.  It’ll be easy to pull-off

Thank God November’s almost over since I think I’ve used up all my shopping budget for the month. Gotta slow down a bit…
