Of about eight still-unpacked boxes in this room, seven of them contain Nathan’s “mementos”–I’m using the word generously–and junk. The closet holds suitcases, a sleeping bag, vinyl LPs, my old college classwork that I need to throw away, and some office supplies. The wire shelving on the right holds my magazine collection and all other office supplies.

This shot reminds me that this room holds almost all the decorative and personal items that I should be using to give our house character. [this dream took place 2 nights ago]

I’m in an office building in a small office way in the back on the ground floor or maybe a below-ground floor.  The only window in the office is in the front of the office looking out into the hallway.  The window covering is a white venetian blind that’s down with the wide horizontal slats open so I can see into the hallway through the slats.  A couple of people are out in the hallway talking.  The room is clean, neat and tidy but dull and boring with very muted colors and lacking any decorations or art on the walls.  In the office a woman is working without noticing me.  I feel like I know her.  I work someplace else in the building for this company.   I’m wearing jeans and a casual top, possibly a t-shirt.

In a hurry, I’ve come down and back to this office to be as far away from as many people as possible without being seen. I have an appointment to go to…I think it’s a job interview with another company.   I know whatever it is it’s important to me and it’s also important that I dress appropriately.

I take of my top.  I start taking off my jeans.  As I do, the pink dress that I’m wearing underneath starts to reveal itself.  It’s a tight form-fitting dress with a pink belt.  The woman in the office, in an amazed and delighted voice says “you’re hot!”.  I’m embarrassed and somewhat pleased/relieved by her response.  The people in the hallway have stopped talking and are watching me, also in amazement.

To ease my embarrassment and as I complete the transformation, which includes high-heeled shoes, I jokingly say “I know…I know…I’m hot…yes, I have got legs.”  This is the first time these people have ever seen me in a hot dress, let alone any dress at all.  I’m excited and happy about the new image and that others seem to be happy about it as well.

In Conclusion

Right off the top of my head I’d say this is about transformation from a tomboyish, somewhat invisible person, to a woman wearing a pink dress and high heels.  I’m 56 and have been struggling with the idea that I’m a woman.  I can easily accept girl…the label of woman though is tough for me.   It has so many meanings to it that seem beyond me.

This transformation is almost like a caterpillar going into a cocoon before emerging as a butterfly.   A tomboy goes into a deep, darkest part of the office building to take off her clothes to reveal the woman underneath.  The idea of being in an office building tells me this is related to my business.  That it’s more than just being a woman, I’m a business woman.

It helps that everyone in the dream who is watching is amazed and happy about the transformation.  Prior to taking off the clothes I was being ignored.  It’s only when I took off my outer clothes that people noticed me.

Ultimately I feel like this about me being true to myself.  When I am, when I reveal who I really am, people will notice and be happy about it.

Transiting Saturn is going through my first house…the house of “first impressions and first  approach to situations, appearance, image, self-presentation, the basic physical vehicle”1.  Saturn is about “…structure, discipline, desire for quality and accomplishment, maturity, aging, and the passage of time, authority, perseverance, self-discipline, accountability, realism, learning from experience, ability to face and deal with reality, establishing limits and boundaries, setting the bar higher, standards”2.

Saturn is also squaring transiting Pluto which is in my fourth house…the house of “home and home life, roots, family ties, heredity, family influence, the nurturing parent, senior years.”1.  Pluto is about “power and control, trust, to discover and analyze what lies beneath the surface and eliminate the undesirable, separateness, holding on to things or feelings, revenge, death and endings, rebirth, healing, transformation”2.

I currently work out of my home.  The combination of this dream and what’s happening astrologically helps to confirm my assessment of this dream: be true to myself…let go of that which fails to serve me any longer.  A new adventure awaits!
