No Blip você é DJ.

I am grateful for family*. Without them. Well, I just don’t know.
It has been a rough couple months for me and they help keep me going when I don’t want to.

I am grateful for friends. Without them I would never laugh. Laughter is the best medicine. Friends help remind you that you are okay too. We all need such reminders. And seriously, D-OC, you continue to amaze me. You always support me, hug me, love me, no matter what. I cannot thank you all enough or properly. Thank you so much for just being there.

Believe it or not, I am grateful for my cat. He is always there, usually when I don’t want him to be. He is all I have though. He may love me only because I feed him but he doesn’t judge me.

I am indebted to my boss and being grateful for her doesn’t even begin to touch the tip of the iceberg. She has melted and flowed into my life in so many ways. I will always be thankful for her.

I am grateful for being able to work from home. To be able to work in whatever I feel like wearing that day, or not. To be able to distract myself with chores. To be able to take a break when I Need to or Have to. To not have inquiring minds or gossipy mouths around. To schedule my needs over my hours.

I am grateful for the moments I can enjoy a real meal, afford good food, few and far between opportunities arise but I savor every second, every bite.

I am grateful for good TV, movies and books that allow me to retreat to another world if for just a moment.

Every day I am thankful. Every day I thank God; for yesterday, today and tomorrow. Whatever life may throw at me, whatever lies ahead, whatever has happened has happened. I am thankful. Every. Day.

Too cute. Had to add. Sorry too squarely orange and happily dancing whatever you are…I Am eating turkey.

*My sister-in-law is in the hospital awaiting surgery for an infection at the surgery site from her back surgery not too long ago. Keep her and my sister in your prayers today. Thank you.**

**Another update. No surgery. Doctors found only an infection, no abscess which is Good news. She is still in the hospital, recovering from the “inspection” and awaiting lab results. Thank you for all of your well wishes.

Healthcare communications and social media.

Yeah, I had no clue either. Until I finally jumped on the bandwagon. Took me a bit to get used to losing out on seven characters. Using the hashtag #hcsm is important. That’s five characters, down to 135. I think it’s smart, thanks @EndoGoddess (I happen to follow her, been lurking/watching her tweet although it may have been someone else who started that part of it), to add the topic number before you answer. Usually three topics occur; T1, T2, T3. Two more characters. 133 character conversations. It’s hard!
Here is a link to an FAQ page.

So what is this #hcsm all about you ask? Let’s begin with someone who impresses me daily.

Every Sunday at 8pm Central, Dana Lewis, student of the University of Alabama, #hcsm moderator, perfectionist and funny woman extraordinare leads us down the Twitter interaction train with a topic. Here is some more information about #hcsm from Dana:

“#hcsm, or healthcare communications & social media, is a hashtag conversation that started in January 2009 that has evolved into a large community on Twitter. Using the 140-character messages to enable the conversation, anyone with an interest in health communications can engage in an informative discussion about a wide variety of topics.”

I enjoyed the interaction between some of the participants via this medium. It’s great to read others perspectives and learn from one another. Each person has a different experience in which to contribute to the overall discussion.

“One of the benefits of this medium being “new” and “emerging” is that it is flexible and open-sourced. Meaning, we have the power and opportunity to influence the way we will use it for years to come. This is why I believe #hcsm is important; it gives #hcsm participants & contributors the opportunity to make waves & share their innovative insights with everyone.”

It is possible to say after an hour just maybe I got a handle on this type of interaction. I was RTed. Sweet. I gained new followers. Awesome. Really I just got my patient point of view out there. Nothing wrong with that. I’ve never been one to hold back.

Thank you Dana. You are doing Great work and will continue to do so.

Not that I didn’t know, I did. I do. I’ve always known.

Recently though, I was reminded. I needed that reminder. I can’t or won’t or shouldn’t feel bad about it either. I am doing my best to simply do what I Have to do because I Know.

I’ve missed you something fierce. All the goodness you bring has eluded me for one too many months now. I’ve missed you, a lot. Maybe in a way you missed me too.

Now that I know because of the reminder you gave me, we will work, once again, on not being missed. I can’t promise you anything because you never have. That’s ok, I understand. I think you understand too.

I’ve joked about it many times. I probably always will. It’s hard not to considering how much of you I don’t seem to get. You do realize I need you, right? Ok, maybe you don’t need me but without me there, doing what I Know, it’s kind of pointless. Wouldn’t you say?

I wish I could say we have come to an understanding but I think I need to put more effort into this. You are aware that I am trying, right? Maybe I shouldn’t ask you so many questions. That is one area I Know I need to work on. Of course you know all about it. When the time comes I tend to not give in. I tend to fight it. Because you have eluded me for so long, if I am being honest here I should say for most of my life, I just gave up. I don’t want to give up anymore. I don’t want to fight it. I certainly don’t want to read into it either.

I’ve missed you. A lot.

From now on I will try to listen. I can promise you That. I Will listen. So when I do, help a woman out. Mkay? Alright.

Here’s to more sleep.

Hello All friends …

I hope … umm no, I’m sure you are having best in every aspect of your life …. hey don’t think i’m again going to tell you something about aspect oriented programming … no, not at all at this time … though I know it’s third part is pending but don’t think I’ve forgotten … it will surely there in next couple of days …

Again hat’s off for Google … From last 2 days, I’m exploring Google Waves, a new product from Google … and now at this time, my level of “fan to Google Products” has increased to some more points … Google Wave is probably the most exciting product announcement from Google since Gmail. Someone gave really good definition of google wave … as take Twitter, Gmail, Instant Messenger, Flickr, and Google Docs. Pour them into a blender; stir in robots and open the whole thing up to developers to the mix and start blending. You might have something like Google Wave .. interesting han … yes indeed it is ..

Google Wave was introduced at the Google I/O developer’s conference in 2009. Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation
and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

In Google Waves, people can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more. It is a shared platform. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

Some Features of Google Waves

Real Time Conversation among many people at at time

People can talk simultaneously, can share their and ideas suggestions in real time with with many others at a time. You can reply to any part of the conversation any at point. Other participant can see what you are typing as you type rather just getting a message “My ABC is typing…” All of your friend can join a single thread of conversation (infact a wave) to share their ideas .. hence make it a real time group discussion.

Organizing events

Keep a single copy of ideas, suggested itinerary, menu and RSVPs, rather than using many different tools. Use gadgets to add weather, maps and more to the event.

Group projects

Collaboratively work in real time to draft content, discuss and solicit feedback all in one place rather than sending email attachments and creating multiple copies that get out of sync.

Photo sharing

Drag and drop photos from your desktop into a wave. Share with others. Use the slideshow viewer. Everyone on the wave can add their photos, too. It is easy to make a group photo album in Google Wave.

Meeting notes

Prepare a meeting agenda together, share the burden of taking notes and record decisions so you all leave on the same page. Team members can follow the minutes in real time, or review the history using Playback.

Brainstorming

Bring lots of people into a wave to brainstorm – live concurrent editing makes the quantity of ideas grow quickly! It is easy to add rich content like videos, images, URLs or even links to other waves. Discuss and then work together to distill down to the good ideas.

Interactive games

Add a gadget to a wave to play live interactive games with your friends (we’re hooked on Sudoku!). See everyone’s moves as they make them in a fast-paced game or take a break and come back later.

Basic Concepts in Wave

A wave is an entire conversation on Google Wave. Think of it like a large back and forth thread with one or more people in a discussion forum or through an email conversation.

A wavelet is a smaller branch of conversation spawned from a large wave. This is like the smaller group of party-goers having a private conversation in the kitchen while everyone else hangs out in the living room. That same group could later rejoin the larger wave.

A blip is the smallest unit of conversation. Think of a blip as a single email or a single instant message.

Google Wave is probably a next generation email. Google Wave is a communication system, just like email or instant messaging. Only it combines these methods of communicating and adds a few more.

Some Keyboard Shortcuts I found Usefull

while exploring waves, i found some keyboards shortcut keys that makes wave easy to use ..

Shift+Enter will submit a reply and start a new reply.

CTRL+Enter will indent a reply

Home and End take you to the beginning/end of a Wave

Tab or Spacebar “jump” to the next unread ‘blip’ below (a blip is a message)

Press Shift+Spacebar to move up to see new blips/messages (as opposed to going to the top of the Wave and pressing the spacebar)

CTRL + click on Wave opens up a Wave in a new panel (hold down CTRL and the Wave)

- mikroblogi służą z założenia do krótkich w formie informacji o stanie/aktywności piszącego.

Racja.

Racja.

Jednak mimowolnie zarażają swoich użytkowników (a przynajmniej niektórych z nich) ową ideą informacyjnej sieczkarni-galopki.

Jeśli mikroblog to prawie komunikator – wolę komunikator. Jeśli prawie blog – wolę blog. Jeśli prawie RSS – wolę RSS. Jeśli prawie elitarna społecznościówka – nie aspiruję.
Jedno jest pewne – jest tam cała masa wspaniałych, wartościowych ludzi. Sukcesywnie jednak zalewana masą pozostałą… oczywiście szybko i w skrócie.

Ot i cała prawda o moim z ideą mikro rozstaniu.

Prawda o nas samych jest ukryta w naszych statusach.

Twitter, Blip, Spinacz i Flaker to cztery serwisy mikroblogowe, z którymi mam coś wspólnego.

Do czego służy?

W założeniu mikroblogi miały ułatwić kontakt z rodziną i przyjaciółmi.

PS. Jak Wam się podoba nowy blog?

In honor of D-blog Day I wanted to bring more attention to a great effort put together in the beginning of October by Team WDD USA: Manny of TuDiabetes and David of DiabetesDaily. Team WDD USA created the World Diabetes Day USA website. They asked those amongst the Dtribe to help bring more awareness about World Diabetes Day and Diabetes to the US.

Posts have been submitted, the petition continues to get signed, there’s a newsletter, a following on Twitter and the Champions list continues to grow each week. The D-OC is full of wonderful people putting themselves out there, bringing Diabetes awareness to the US as much as possible. Whether it’s via the WDD USA website, their own website or blog or Twitter – Diabetes awareness is all over the interwebs this month.

We are all champions. Go us.

Here is what I wrote for the World Diabetes Day USA website:

Top 7 things everyone should know about Diabetes:

1) Your Diabetes may vary.
Each body is different. We react to and deal with every aspect of life differently. No one way is right or wrong. This disease is about trial and error. Some foods are absorbed, digested differently in each person. This is a huge consideration when it comes to managing Diabetes. I recently told my Endocrinologist that if it weren’t for carbs I would be in great health but I do need to eat as we all do.

2) What you read, see and/or hear is not how it “really or usually” is.
The norm in the media has it quite wrong most of the time. There is more to Diabetes than just…..Diabetes. There are different Types: I, II, LADA, Gestational. There are a number of reasons why someone may or may not get this disease and a plethora of unknowns. This disease is very individual. It has a mind of it’s own and it is far from prejudice. There is no simple regiment that fits all. If you have questions, there are plenty of accurate resources out there to guide you. TuDiabetes, DiabetesMine, DiabetesDaily and The Diabetes Resource are great places to start.

3) No set formula of any treatment will work for all.
For Type 1 Diabetes, insulin is a treatment, not a cure. Just because someone needs insulin, this does not make him or her bad or worse off. It means just that; they need insulin. Here’s the thing many don’t seem to know: Every body needs insulin. Insulin is a necessary hormone made by the pancreas that controls the level of the sugar glucose in the blood. Insulin permits cells to use glucose for energy. Cells cannot utilize glucose without insulin. As to why some produce it fine their whole lives and others don’t – if researchers really knew, maybe a cure would be closer than I believe it ever will be.

4) We all react and deal with Diabetes differently.
Diabetes is not just about a meal plan, watching/counting carbs, doing a blood test, taking insulin…it is so much more. There is a physical and mental toll that needs to be taken into consideration. See 1.

5) Diabetes is progressive.
It changes with you as you get older – symptoms change, sensitivity changes, need for insulin amount changes, medication needs etc change. The constant in Diabetes is change. Those who live with the disease do their best each and every moment of every day. Going with the flow, taking one blood sugar level at a time is key to balancing your management.

6) Management of Diabetes is every minute of every day.
You can’t just stop doing blood tests, taking medication or taking into account practically every move you make. There is no vacation from Diabetes. No break. It is everyday, all day. There are so many variables and factors that contribute to the management of this disease. First is your blood sugar level, what are you doing, what do you think you will be doing, what are thinking about eating, don’t forget to count carbs, factor in the grams of fat too, exercise in the near future maybe, are you tired or energetic today, are you coming down with an infection or cold. It is never ending, every day.

7) Yes. Yes I can eat that.
Each person is entitled to eat whatever, whenever they want. How is someone with Diabetes different? They aren’t. They just have to pay a bit more attention. We can eat the same things as the next person. Even candy, sweets or sugary stuff. Type 1’s count carbs in order to administer the correct amount of insulin. Most all food has a carb count. We factor it in, do the amount of insulin that works for us and get on with our day.

All in all, the constant in Diabetes is change. There is no cure. In the meantime, bringing awareness to such a misunderstood and individual disease is so very important. World Diabetes Day is November 14th, every year. This is an international effort to bring awareness and to educate. Do your part by learning what you can and telling others.
