<p>Microsoft denies the Apocalyptic move over Xbox Live.</p>
<p>Microsoft&#8217;s XBOX Live last action sent a huge tremor all over the world. Apparently a huge amount of Xbox Live enthusiasts ended up getting their accounts banned from the said network. The said banning was under the move &#8220;To eliminate piracy&#8221;. Although the story still goes on but this time around, Microsoft denies that such incident occured. Entirely, GM Marc Whitten made the statement &#8220;I cannot explain to you why people would think it was a million people. It wasn&#8217;t a million people&#8221;. SO yeah i guess in total it may never be a million, just 999,999 users.</p>

Starcraft II Updates</p>
<p>Blizzard all time favorite game, STARCRAFT which is getting a sequel coming this first quarter of 2010 known as Starcraft II recently had it&#8217;s a site update. THe updates includes a peek on S2&#8217;s single player modes, campaigns and some added details to the Zerg&#8217;s Changeling and other cool stuff. <p>Under the strain of falling subscription numbers and sagging newsstand sales, some papers have found success in charging for access to select sections of their website, such as <em><a href="http://online.wsj.com/home-page">The Wall Street Journal</a></em>. Others, like the <em><a href="http://www.latimes.com/">Los Angeles Times</a></em>, quickly dispatched their pay wall &#8220;after experiencing a sharp decline in web traffic,&#8221; according to <em><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/18/business/media/18times.html">The New York Times</a></em>. These organizations might be able to learn something by looking at how <a href="http://us.blizzard.com/en-gb/">Blizzard Entertainment</a>, the company behind PC games such as World of Warcraft, Warcraft, and Starcraft, successfully started charging for its content. (In addition to the initial investment of purchasing the game, Blizzard charges $15 US/month to play World of Warcraft.)</p>
<p>Blizzard offers a ten day free trial of World of Warcraft, or if you&#8217;ve purchased the game a free month of playtime. Compared to what newspapers offer for free this isn&#8217;t much. For example, <em>The Wall Street Journal</em> allows free access to politics, arts, opinion and breaking news where Blizzard charges for everything after the first ten days of play.</p>
<p>You probably know what services <em>The Wall Street Journal</em> is charging for: news, expert analysis, up-to-date content, everything a newspaper provides to its readers. Blizzard&#8217;s model is similar, but with a few key differences. Like <em>The Wall Street Journal</em>, Blizzard offers new content, but in the form of patches which players download and apply to the game, adding new areas to explore and quests to complete.</p>
<p>What is Blizzard doing differently, then? Most importantly, how did they manage to get over eleven million subscribers worldwide? Blizzard doesn&#8217;t just add new content to their game; they go further than that by changing the way the game is played, often in ways that reflect the opinions and comments of players. One example of this is the way that user modifications of the game&#8217;s interface have, over time, been incorporated into the game as a default setting. This means that the World of Warcraft that launched in 2005 is very different from the World of Warcraft of today. The same cannot be said of newspaper websites, which offers essentially the same services as they did a few years ago.</p>
<p>In addition, most newspaper&#8217;s websites are not very different from each other. Compare <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/"><em>The New York Times</em> site</a> to the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/"><em>LA Times</em> site</a>. Both sites provide essentially the same services, with no bells and whistles to tempt visitors into becoming paid online subsceribs. Blizzard&#8217;s World of Warcraft, however, has made itself unique in the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) genre, where all games share a few key traits. There are a number of reasons, but one of the most important is that it&#8217;s appeal is so broad.</p>
<p>Just look at <a href="http://na.aiononline.com/">Aion</a>, one of the new MMORPGs on the scene. One of its downfalls is a failure to offer content for everyone: &#8221; If you lean towards PvE [player versus enemy, as opposed to player versus player], there is enough content for you to enjoy for a few months but longevity may be an issue,&#8221; says IGN. World of Warcraft caters to people who play upwards of 30 hours a week as well as those who play only one or two. It has different levels of content for different types of players. Perhaps newspapers cannot hope to reach such a broad audience, especially not in hopes of enticing all of them to pay for access to select parts of a website. But if a newspaper attempted to model its pay wall after Blizzard&#8217;s model, what might it look like?</p>
<p>One change that may occur is that new forms of media will be set behind a pay wall as soon as they become available. One of the reasons that World of Warcraft can afford to charge players monthly, rather than solely a one-time purchase, is that other similar games always used the pay-to-play model. Examples include <a href="http://everquest.station.sony.com/">Everquest</a>, <a href="http://www.uoherald.com/news/">Ultima Online</a>, and a host of others. If consumers are used to paying for a product then there isn&#8217;t the same kind of protest that comes from restricting a previously free service, especially one as vital as information.</p>
<p>Consider the recent foray of <em><a href="http://www.mcsweeneys.net/">McSweeney&#8217;s</a></em>, a literary magazine, into new media: <a href="http://iphone.mcsweeneys.net/">their iPhone application</a>. It&#8217;s on sale for $5.99, and even features content that appears on the iPhone before the web. &#8220;And iPhone-only content is on the drawing board as well,&#8221; says Mac Slocum from the <a href="http://www.niemanlab.org/">Nieman Journalism Lab</a>. This taps into the advantage that Blizzard has with World of Warcraft: iPhone users are accustomed to paying for applications, just as MMORPG subscribers are used to paying a monthly fee. More print media organizations are likely to follow <em>McSweeney&#8217;s</em> example and come up with creative ways to market their products and services, which is the main purpose of <em>McSweeney&#8217;s</em> iPhone application. &#8220;At its core, the <em>McSweeney’s</em> app is really an extensive sampler with a clever marketing hook,&#8221; says Slocum.</p>
<p>But even if newspapers manage to acquire a strong base of paid online subscriptions, there is still the problem of advertising. &#8220;At stake are millions of dollars from online advertisers who want the largest possible number of readers. Putting up any kind of pay wall has the potential to drive away readers and some of those dollars,&#8221; says Bill Keller, the executive editor of <em>The New York Times</em>. The newspaper industry has some catching up to do and would do well to study existing companies who profit from selling online content, even if they aren&#8217;t news organizations.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Torchlight – The return of the old Diablo II crew]]></title>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>After the heady heights of the <em>Diablo</em> series, <em>Fate</em> and <em>Mythos</em>, a number of designers and developers that ended up being made redundant in the face of recruitment for bigger and better games managed to band together under the name of Runic Games.</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&#38;" lang="EN-GB"><br />
</span></strong><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&#38;" lang="EN-GB">Headed by the Schaefer brothers who co-designed the huge successes <em>Diablo</em> and <em>Diablo II </em>for Blizzard Entertainment, and Travis Baldree, the developer of <em>Fate</em>, Runic Games is made up of a number of developers, composers and graphic designers that had been splintered from their original companies. With the now-defunct Flagship Studio crew under their wing, Runic Games decided to “go back to their roots” and develop a small but very flexible RPG that would enable them to put their name back on the gaming market.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&#38;" lang="EN-GB">With the co-designers of the Diablo series in their midst it was pretty much guaranteed that any fan of the RPG genre would be interested in what this small company could come up with. In Diablo II in particular, the developers managed to stumble across an almost perfect formula for limitless enjoyment even in limited confines. Items, dungeons, monsters, lore – it was all there to some degree, but the degree was perfect for the whole concoction to come together to produce a game that is currently nearly 10 years old and still going incredibly strong in both the single-player and multi-player variants.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:left;"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&#38;" lang="EN-GB">What Runic Games came up with is Torchlight. 11 months in the making, Torchlight does indeed go back to the Diablo roots and presents a wonderfully simple yet deceptively addictive single-player RPG that simply highlights the incredible talents that Runic Games currently holds. Released in October 2009, Torchlight is really just the essence of action role-playing – the small town with baddies to kill, a merchant for gear and another for potions, the rather weak but strangely enthralling storyline about an evil buried deep in layers and layers of caves underground. There’s no flesh to this skeleton because it doesn’t really need it to be good. All the points are covered – characters, storyline, graphics, sound – and the game really does stand up well by itself.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&#38;" lang="EN-GB">The game is very easy to enjoy but to a rather veteran gamer like myself (I’m also very modest, can you tell?) you can instantly recognize the tell-tale signs of things beneath the surface just waiting to be revealed – items, bosses, skill builds, etc – and this indicates that Runic Games didn’t stumble back onto the magic formula – it was carefully planned and mapped out. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&#38;" lang="EN-GB">Gameplay is refreshingly smooth, with spells looking very clean and importantly, <em>magical</em>. Music is kind on the ears (though the annoying gem drop sounds and the YOUR PET HAS ARRIVED comments made by the narrator at times does give you a little shock) and the graphics are, to be fair, just about spot-on for a game like Torchlight – not too realistic to lose the fantasy touch but not too “what the heck?” to prove a hindrance to gamers.<br />
To be completely honest you can see that Runic Games does not have the funding that Blizzard managed to provide to the developers. The graphics are cartoony (although this was the objective), the storyline is flimsy, the itemisation doesn’t make sense at times (20% faster cast speed on a sword?) and the dungeons may get a little repetitive.</span></p>

With the release of Torchlight, the developers stated that they would like to have an MMO based on Torchlight in the next 2 years.<br />
Now, if they manage to keep the special formula intact for their MMO, I personally guarantee it will be huge – almost every Diablo fan will jump ship and Blizzard (now Activision Blizzard) will be ruing the day they let Max and Erich Schaefer go.</span></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Ron Pardo, the Vice President of Game Design admitted in an <a href="http://www.warcry.com/articles/view/interviews/6773-Five-Years-of-Warcraft-Speaking-With-Blizzards-Rob-Pardo" target="_blank">interview</a> with John Funk of WarCry today that the addition of the arena system was a mistake for the World of Warcraft.</p>
<p>No kidding.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s easy with hindsight to see what a mess arenas have caused with the game and I know Blizzard started the arena system with the best of intentions. But the warning signs should have been obvious during the initial design phases. Attempting to achieve balance with all nine classes for small-scale combat directly clashes with the large-scale game philosophy underpinning the World of Warcraft. If certain classes were originally designed to fit specific roles within 5-man instances and 20- and 40-man raids, the only way to achieve balance for all the possible scenarios of arena team composition was by homogenization of the classes. Check any of the talent descriptions in the trees for the various classes today and you&#8217;ll unfortunately find many talents have almost identical effects and tooltip wordings.</p>
<p>The second unfortunate consequence of balancing for arenas has been the sudden and frequent tweaking to the class talents. How many patches have we gone through since the advent of Burning Crusade where many of us felt like we had to relearn our classes from the ground up? I definitely want my class balanced, but having significant changes every other month (or even every few weeks sometimes) detracts from the time and focus needed to skill-up in your abilities. And I can&#8217;t even imagine the amount of work this must be for the developers. Imagine how much time Blizzard must now spend on specific class balance for a part of the game that only a small percentage of the population actually participates in. People may think that the recent vanity pets may hinder good game development but I&#8217;d place my bets on balancing for arenas as the real resource hole.</p>
<p>Lastly, the saddest thing about the introduction of arenas was how it relegated battlegrounds, their design, and battleground participants to being second-class citizens. Skills needed to successfully win in battlegrounds were looked down upon since battlegrounds supposedly took &#8220;little or no skill&#8221; according to arena participants. The refrain was that you couldn&#8217;t measure individual performance in a battleground so therefore it wasn&#8217;t a real test. Never mind that battlegrounds required situational awareness, communication skills, the ability to understand objectives and strategies, and tactical teamwork. What happened was a lackluster approach to battleground design (Eye of the Storm), no context for them within the expansion (no backstory or group reputation for the new battleground), and second-hand &#8220;welfare epics&#8221; as gear rewards for people who played battlegrounds. Not to mention, the bad blood that subsequently developed between raiders and battleground players on one side, and arena players on the other side.</p>
<p>Blizzard apparently regained their senses with Wrath. Better designed battlegrounds were introduced and Cataclysm shows a return to some battleground prominence with the new rated battleground system. I hope this trend continues. As someone who has played battlegrounds since they were originally introduced, nothing would make me happier than seeing arenas completely shut down, kicked in the pants, and thrown out the back door after Cataclysm.</p>

Chỉ vài ngày sau, bộ Văn hóa Trung Quốc đã có phát phản pháo đầu tiên, gọi hành động kể trên là &#8220;vượt quá thẩm quyền&#8221; cho phép.</p>

Theo tin từ tờ thời báo New York, bộ Văn hóa <a href="http://baogame.vn/home/chuyen-muc/trung-quoc">Trung Quốc</a> đã lên án hành động của Tổng cục in ấn và xuất bản Trung ương <a href="http://baogame.vn/home/chuyen-muc/trung-quoc">Trung Quốc</a> (GAPP), gọi đó là sự &#8220;vượt quá thẩm quyền&#8221; cho phép và đã &#8220;đi quá xa&#8221; trong việc đình chỉ hoạt động của WOW tại quốc gia Nam Á này. Sự việc này xảy ra vào thứ hai tuần này, khi đó, hãng tin Reuters của Anh đưa tin rằng GAPP đã thu hồi giấy phép hoạt động của NetEase, đối tác mới của Blizzard tại thị trường <a href="http://baogame.vn/home/chuyen-muc/trung-quoc">Trung Quốc</a>. Và lý do mà GAPP đưa ra là &#8220;nhiều hành vi vi phạm nói chung&#8221; của luật pháp nước Cộng hòa dân chủ nhân dân Trung Hoa.<br />

<p>Actually, not really but it seems half the Warcraft blogosphere is now declaring that Blizzard has officially &#8220;jumped the shark,&#8221; doesn&#8217;t care to make good games anymore, crossed a mysterious line it shouldn&#8217;t, gone over to the Dark Side of capitalism, is catering only to casuals and socials, and is scamming everyone with a dubious and shameful ploy involving charity.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s caused all this consteration you ask?</p>

<p>Apparently if you take a vanity pet from one of the trading card sets or the collector&#8217;s edition of the game and instead deliver it digitally all sorts of bad things happen.</p>
<p>What everyone is worried about is that Blizzard will make the jump from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micropayment" target="_blank">microtransactions</a> for vanity items to letting players buy epic armor and weapons. Or that using resources on making items for these vanity transactions takes away from good game development. Neither of these arguments holds water. Blizzard&#8217;s entire game philosophy to date has been to make progression dependent upon skill and effort. Just as well, additional revenue whether from novels, comics, trading card games or game subscriptions all contribute to the bottom line which means that Blizzard has additional resources for game development.</p>
<p>Or maybe Activision is secretly hoarding all the proceeds from Lil&#8217; K.T. for more water skis.</p>

As a beta tester, I remember spending hours chatting with friends, watching sunsets/ the virtual sky, and adventuring forth into the unknown.  <a title="Asheron's Call" href="http://ac.turbine.com/" target="_blank">Asheron&#8217;s Call</a> (AC) marked my first introduction to the world of the MMO.</p>
<p><strong>I</strong>n the years following AC&#8217;s launch, much has changed in the virtual landscape. <a title="EverQuest" href="http://everquest.station.sony.com/" target="_blank">EverQuest</a> is no longer the reigning MMO champion, the Warcraft universe has expanded into World of Warcraft, and the sequel to Asheron&#8217;s Call, dubbed <a title="Asheron's Call II" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asheron%27s_Call_2" target="_blank">Asheron&#8217;s Call II,</a> has come and gone.</p>
<p><strong>W</strong>ith all the changes in the MMO landscape, Asheron&#8217;s Call is still the only game—to my knowledge—that features an allegiance system. This system introduces the unique concept of vassals and patrons. In this system, a vassal swears allegiance to a patron. The patron then acts as a protector, item giver, and basically a guild leader. The reward for being a patron equals a daily award of experience points based upon a small percentage of experience that the vassal makes while playing. The allegiance system ultimately encourages the formation of miniature kingdoms, much like guilds found in today&#8217;s more modern MMO.</p>
<p><strong>U</strong>nlike a fine wine, MMO&#8217;s do not age well with time. MMO&#8217;s are all about refinement. Each new MMO takes (hopefully) the best ideas from what has come before and melds them together with new ideas. Sometimes this creative process works on an epic scale (World of Warcraft) and other times fails tragically (<a title="Star Wars Galaxies" href="http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/players/index.vm" target="_blank">Star Wars Galaxies</a>). In the end, I think we can all thank Asheron&#8217;s Call and developer Turbine for helping to blaze the trail to bigger, better, and more forgiving online experiences.</p>

<p><strong>Commandment 3. Know thine Commitment Required…</strong></p>
<p>“<strong>C</strong>asual Player Friendly” is a buzzword in the online gaming world at the  moment. What it means is, the developers want to make online games just as  accessible to those players who can only manage a couple of hours a week versus  the hardcore “who needs a social life?” players and gold farmers. Unfortunately,  as most MMO’s now stand, soloing isn’t very viable for long. Sure all MMO’s  start out easy enough but they are designed to require group play before you can  access the higher tiered areas, dungeons and epic items. Designers implement  this to help build a lasting social experience (and keep their customers paying  the monthly fee) but it also means you must rely on others if you really want to  advance.</p>
<p><strong>I</strong> can remember more than once in Everquest 2 having my paladin spam for an  hour, “LFG, PALLY, HEALER!” to finally fall into a half-baked PUG (pick up  group) that fell apart the minute a member’s mother called them to dinner.</p>
<p><strong>O</strong>f course one can join a guild to avoid these kinds of problems, but then  again you have to deal with personalities, and often petty rule sets that have  little to do with actual game play. I recall, in WOW, running Molten Core ten  times with a guild as a “probationary member.” I was of course allowed to take  part in killing the awful beasties (and dying several times in the process) but  rolling on items was a right that only went to “Senior members.” I believe  becoming said “Senior member” meant you had to know the guild leader, “Chuck,”  and spot him for pizza and beer at least twice.</p>
<p><strong>N</strong>ot all guilds are that elitist but most of the well equipped ones have some  kind of lame hierarchy that you must agree to. In addition, these guilds  maintain fairly intensive “raiding schedules” that are considered mandatory and  will eat up your social life. Your best bet is to find some real life friends  and start your own guild with your own timelines for doing dungeons.</p>

<p><strong>S</strong>ure $15 a month (the usual price) doesn’t sound too bad, but if you’re going  to stick with the game for any period of time and be fairly successful at it,  the cost adds up. If you’re spending $15 a month for 12 months, that comes to  $180 per year. That’s not counting the initial cost of the client software  (anywhere from $20-$60). Of course if you can afford this continual pay cycle  then go for it, but if I were to put my favorite single player video game of all  time (<a title="Thief: Gold" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thief_%28series%29" target="_blank">Thief: Gold</a>) next to the most popular MMORPG on the market right now  (World of Warcraft) the difference would be immense. Here is the cost  breakdown:.</p>

Το <strong>Warcraft</strong> ,για όσους δεν γνωρίζουνε, είναι ένα παιχνίδι στρατηγικής το οποίο</span><strong><span style="color:#800000;"> έκανε την εμφάνισή του το 1994 και έχει περίπου 11,5 εκατομμύρια παίκτες το μήνα</span></strong>. <span style="color:#888888;">Είναι ένα game μέσα στο οποίο έρχεται αντιμέτωπο το καλό με το κακό, ανάμεσα σε<em> <strong>Orcs</strong>, <strong>Humans</strong>, <strong>Elves</strong>, <strong>Night Elves</strong>, <strong>Undeads</strong></em>, πλάσματα της φαντασίας που διεκδικούνε κόσμους της φαντασίας.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="color:#888888;">Πάντως σε αρκετά διαδυκτιακά forum έχει &#8220;ανάψει&#8221; για τα καλά η συζήτηση ανάμεσα στους θαυμαστές του Warcraft σχετικά με την υπόθεση που θα δώσουν στην ταινία,το casting, ενώ πολλοί δεν διστάζουν να εκφράζουν τους φόβους τους ότι δεν θα είναι παρά μόνο μία ταινία πολέμου και θα χάσει οτιδήποτε φανταστικό το χαρακτηρίζει.<br />
Η ομάδα παραγωγής πάντως θέλει να  δημιουργήσει μια ταινία η οποία θα προσελκύσει στις αίθουσες και κοινό το οποίο δεν έχει την παραμικρή ιδέα για το παιχνίδι!</span></p>

<p><em><strong><span style="font-size:medium;">S</span></strong>aying you’re thinking about trying  out a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) is akin to saying,  “I think I’ll start a crack addiction today.” Well, maybe its not all that bad.  Certainly the media has overblown the woes of ex-Everquesters and WOW (World of  Warcraft) fanatics who flushed their jobs or marriages down the toilet for more  “raid time,” but there are a few things to consider before getting knee deep in  all the virtual hack ‘n slash fun. </em></p>
<p><em>Being an ex-WOW addict, an ex-Everquest 2 addict, an ex-Star Wars  Galaxies (SWG) addict, and a casual user of a myriad of other MMORPG’s has  instilled in me certain commandments that should always be followed before  shelling out that monthly fee…</em></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:large;">.: The MMORPG Commandments  :.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>Commandment 1. Know Thy Parent Company and Its Track Record&#8230;</strong></p>
<p><strong>I</strong> don’t care how flashy the graphics are, or how much “phat lootz” may be  attainable, if you don’t read up on the company that is producing the MMO, you  are doing yourself a major disservice. Case and point: Star Wars Galaxies.</p>
<p><strong>W</strong>hat started out as a wonderful rock solid “sandbox” type MMO  became an uber turd fest within three years of its initial launch. Sony Online  Entertainment (SOE) realized it couldn’t support the innovative character  classes, and instead of doing something logical (like hiring more designers and  developers) they simply ditched half of their professions. Instead of listening  to the growing tide of criticisms for this move on their official message boards  they deleted and locked posts. As expansion packs were added, more and more bugs  crept into the basic game play, many of which are still unresolved, and then  right after their last major expansion, The Trials of Obi-Wan, they reworked the  entire combat system and nerfed the remaining classes. These nerfs were given  official names like “Combat Upgrade” and “New Game Enhancements.” When asked  about these changes, Jon Smedley (henceforth known as Satan) simply replied, “We  went for more iconic and Star-Warsy game play and characters.” Nowadays SWG is a  wasteland only occasionally frequented by level 1 Jedis and retarded  Wookies.</p>
<p><strong>I</strong>’m not saying SOE is the worst online gaming company in the world but their  less than stellar customer service and short term vision for games (i.e. little  to no work being done on any IP except Everquest) has lost them many a customer. Reading up on the forums can save you a headache later on. <a href="http://mmorpg.com/" target="_blank">Try</a>, for fairly unbiased reviews.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>This is true and false at the same time.  Finding good information is <em>technically</em> easy.  Accurately finding specific good information can be <em>incredibly</em> hard.</p>
<p>If you want good wow information, a lot of people will point you to elitist jerks.  A veritable holy grail of information, most of it of the highest quality no less.  But the threads on EJ tend to wander, and if you&#8217;re a newer reader you don&#8217;t necessarily want to sift through 50 pages of posts to find the 1 thing you&#8217;re looking for.  The other issue is maintenance.  Even EJ suffers from being up-to-date.   Part of the problem, which is arguably a positive part of WoW, is the number of different styles of play.   Even for just 1 class.   Let&#8217;s say Mr. Nub wants some death knight information.   That&#8217;s great!  But do you want frost, unholy, or blood?  Dual wield of 2hander?  Tank or dps?   These different styles dont even necessarily have their own threads.   If you want specific dual wield unholy dps, do you look at the unholy dps thread? or the dual wield thread?</p>
<p>I do not have good fixes for this.  I am not a cataloger of information.  The variance of information also is dependant on who has the most passion for each individual classes.  Shaman information in EJ is easy to find.  But once again, there&#8217;s less options with the shaman.  Caster dps, dw dps, or heals.  3 threads.    In a world that i could create myself, i&#8217;d entrust such things to wowhead.  If they had a couple of volunteers per class work out guides to class play, i think it would be a huge boon towards site hits and popularity.  (not that they need any help <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> )   You can argue that this would be the same issue as a mod author tryign to add every feature into their mod when all they originally wanted was 1 thing.   Too much bloat can be a problem.   I wouldnt mind extensions of the site of course.   My dream?    Man, i want shaman information, i would know that all i had to do was go to shaman.wowhead.com and find everything a growing shaman would want.</p>
<p>Dreams &#8216;eh?</p>
<p>Finding the right information shouldnt take a long time.   Soemone  somewhere should have a dedicated site kept up to date (and yes, this includes PTR changes which some people dont like to do much work on due to subjectibility to change *cough*cough*)   If i had the time, dedication, and team to do it i&#8217;d try.  But unfortunately, i lack everything.   So like many people, all i can do is sit quietly and complain on the internet.</p>

<p>As meantioned earlier, there has been lots of discussion on the direction Sam Raimi&#8217;s new movie <em>Warcraft</em> will take. Many suspect (and hope) that the plot follows the Lich King storyline. Raimi spoke earlier this week about the movie.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=15401">Worst Previews</a> quote Raimi:</p>
<p>&#8220;<em>We want to be really faithful to the game,</em>&#8221; Raimi said. &#8220;<em>We would have our writer, Robert Rodat, really craft an original story within that world that feels like a &#8216;World of Warcraft&#8217; adventure. We would choose something that encompasses lands and characters and storylines, and we would be true to it. But our story may or may not be about one of those central characters.</em>&#8220;</p>
<p>&#8220;He continued: <em>[The goal is to capture] the Horde and the Alliance and the mythology that takes place in the game, and the archetypes that the game presents. I think we would try and find touchstones within the game to make it accurate and true and choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible.</em>&#8220;</p>
<p>I said in an earlier post that there were rumors of the plot following the Lich King storyline, which I do hope is true. From this statement, it seems as if they want to take the movie in a different direction, which may cause some problems with devoted fans. Either way I have no doubts that this movie will be epic.</p>

This was just the first step in the rollout of the brand-new Battle.net; in the future, players will be able to use Battle.net to participate in cross-realm chat in World of Warcraft, create real-life friends lists, communicate across different games, and a whole lot more.</p>
<p>In preparation for the launch of these new features, on November 11, 2009, all current World of Warcraft players will be required to merge their World of Warcraft accounts with a Battle.net account in order to log in to the game. As our way to say ?thanks? for taking a moment to go through the process, existing World of Warcraft accounts that upgrade to Battle.net (including those that have already switched over) will receive a brand-new penguin in-game pet &#8212; check for him in your in-game mailbox later this week. <p>In July the MMORPG nerd collective all shared a shocking experience. No, they didn&#8217;t lose their virginity, and no the Warcraft servers weren&#8217;t down, but it was announced that Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man) would be at the helm of the adaptation of the popular, life-consuming game World of Warcraft. However, nothing else substantial has come from Legendary Pictures, Warner Brothers, Atlas Entertainment or even Blizzard Entertainment to show how exactly they were progressing. MTV reports today that Raimi himself has confirmed that Saving Private Ryan screenwriter Robert Rodat is on board to write the screenplay.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s what Raimi told MTV about how they&#8217;re approaching the story in this big World of Warcraft movie &#8220;We want to be really faithful to the game. We would have our writer… really craft an original story within that world that feels like a &#8216;World of Warcraft&#8217; adventure. Only obviously it&#8217;s very different ’cause it&#8217;s expanded and translated into the world of a motion picture. I think we would try and find touchstones within the game to make it accurate and true and choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible.&#8221;</p>
<p>Raimi is attached to (at least) Spider-Man 4 coming up, not to mention a remake of his original cult classic Evil Dead. We know the Spider-Man movies are taking huge precedence over the Warcraft movie, and if the script hasn&#8217;t even been written yet, there&#8217;s not much for him to direct anytime soon. And on the writing side of things, Rodat is already committed to writing Roland Emmerich&#8217;s huge endeavor to adapt Isaac Asimov&#8217;s Foundation Trilogy and since Emmerich has said Rodat is &#8220;the most knowledgeable person I ever met about the Foundation novels,&#8221; I&#8217;d imagine it&#8217;s a priority for the both of them. So even though this is a great development, I think we&#8217;ve got plenty of time to mull it over.</p>

<p>The 11 million World of Warcraft fanboys and fangirls and even more Warcraft III players are rejoicing in the wakes of the rumored Warcraft movie. Originally the movie was rumored to be completely original, but recent evidence forces me to believe that this will be the well known story of the Wrath of the Lich King. Originating in Warcraft III, this famous Warcraft story continued with its epic addition to the World of Warcraft franchise.</p>
<p>From Blizzard&#8217;s standpoint, this would be a solid move. Many of the 11 million World of Warcraft players would already be a huge movie following before its release, and it would easily gross 100 million+ if all of those players saw the film.</p>
<p>While concrete details about Sam Raimi&#8217;s Warcraft movie remain undisclosed, a possible hint has shown up on <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0803096/">IMDb</a>. On the site it lists that the movie will be based on the video game series, yet the title still remains &#8220;Warcraft&#8221; on the database. It also claims that we should be looking forward to this epic movie sometime in 2011. We can all hope for some more info soon. I&#8217;ll post it as soon as I find out.</p>

<p>Doing that along with your fellow classmates is another&#8230; But doing all that along with the big man <a title="@robco" href="http://twitter.com/robco" target="_blank">Rob Coble</a>, our career development lead?</p>
<p>Stack on Sumer Ortiz (University Relations Manager from Blizzard) and a lead animator from Ravensoft? You&#8217;ve got one Hell of an audience to hook&#8230;</p>
<p><strong><em>We all did a great job, though!</em> </strong>Everyone was practiced and was ready to speak. No crashes &#8212; even though we were worried about one &#8212; and no real hiccups!</p>
<p><strong>I&#8217;m surprised I wasn&#8217;t anxious when my turn came up!</strong> I felt fairly different. I wasn&#8217;t sure if I was just tired or not. <em>(No. Now, I think it&#8217;s experience. It&#8217;s knowing what to expect my body to feel like, knowing what it is &#8212; stress &#8212; and focusing on making myself and others feel positive reciprocally.)</em></p>
<p>I just kept rubbing my thumb against my index to focus and kept smiling while I listened and waited. I&#8217;ve been paying attention to other people&#8217;s inflections a lot more during speeches.  I kinda had fun up there &#8212; practically goofing off some of the time! <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>After reflecting on it, I felt that a lot of people don&#8217;t seem to be giving me much constructive criticism&#8230; and that goes for quite a few life areas. I want to get better, not just be good or great! <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I got a couple responses after a little egging:</p>
<ul>
<li>One person felt that the stretching portion at the beginning to cover up dead air wasn&#8217;t very good (it was a little quick and weak this time, but it woke me up)</li>
<li>Another thought that I should try to ham it up more (maybe some more humor)</li>
<li>Others felt I should move around a bit more on stage &#8212; I tried to incorporate that more today and it worked out great!</li>
</ul>
<p>Beta should be interesting&#8230; I&#8217;m probably going to have a whole boss fight to talk about! We might also get the chance to ask the audience which temple we want to go through (and which form to play as)&#8230; that would be really cool audience participation!</p>
<p>* * *</p>
<p>For now, we&#8217;ve got the night off&#8230; time to plan my novel, play some music, and relax. I&#8217;m going to head to Olive Garden to see some old faces before they graduate and move on&#8230; should be nice to catch up a bit.</p>
<p>I think my next post will be a review about Scribblenauts. I&#8217;ve got some bones to pick with that game. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Brusc, mi-am amintit ca am si eu doi prieteni care isi pierd o buna parte din tineretea lor jucand acest joc. Au devenit chiar mari pasionati, ce intalniri la bere, ce pescuit ori fotografie, mai bine: intalniri online cu prietenii din joc, iesiri la bere cu comunitatea de pe serverul X, instante alaturi de alti 24 de razboinici: paladini, vanatori, samani, pungasi, druizi sau magi.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ma simt totusi nevoit sa recunosc ca este un joc complex, i-am vazut jucand si mi-am dat seama ca nu este de mine, mult prea complicat; prea multe quest-uri, prea multe butoane, un joc care iti forteaza la maxim capacitatile tale de gamer. Iti trebuie rabdare si multa pasiune sa ajungi cu un erou la levelul maxim de 80, trebuie sa inveti sa interactionezi cu multi <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">oameni</span> eroi (nu degeaba este <em>massive multiplayer</em>) si sa fii intradevar dedicat &#8220;trup si suflet&#8221; jocului in sine si comunitatii WoW.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>World of Warcraft </strong>a generat o cultura proprie, este un lifestyle , este the <em>new pop culture</em>. Un trademark ce marcheaza generatii intregi.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Si totusi cam cat de mare este toata aceasta afacere, citand <a href="http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/world-of-warcraft-s-astounding-numbers/1355608">articolul</a>, sau mai bine zis citandu-i pe cei de la <strong>Blizzard Entertainment </strong>(dezvoltatorul acestui joc) mai mult de 12 milioane de jucatori isi incearca fortele in lumea virtuala. Totusi de ce e nevoie sa tii &#8220;in priza&#8221; toti acesti oameni, pai tot dupa <strong>Blizzard</strong>: 20.000 de computere, 75.000 de core-uri si un total de 1,3 pentabiti (adica 1,3 miliarde de MB) de spatiu de stocare.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Vreti mai mult?!? 5,5 milioane de linii de cod, 7.650 de quest-uri si aproximativ 70.000 de spell-uri.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Si ca sa revin la ce m-a mirat cel mai mult! Premiile acordate jucatorilor in cei 5 ani de <strong>WoW</strong>??? Un mizilic de 4.449.680.399 aur ca loot! That&#8217;s a lot of playing si o gramada de monstrii ucisi!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Acum stateam sa ma gandesc, cat de profitabila este intradevar aceasta afacere?!? 12 milioane de oameni doar pe servere oficiale, pe langa care se mai adauga si cei care nu-si platesc abonamentul dar joaca jocul cumparat (jucand pe servere free)! Exista oare premii?? am aflat de la acelasi bun prieten ca nimeni nu castiga nimic &#8220;in real life&#8221; si ca totul este <em>pure virtual reality</em>.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Pe scurt cei de la <strong>Blizzard </strong>se pare ca au dat lovitura. Vanzatorii de vise au tintuit in fata monitorului o gramada de oameni, au scurtat distante de mii de km, au depasit granitele statelor si a continentelor, au facut ce multe mari puteri nu ar putea decat sa viseze.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Stateam sa ma gandesc ce ar spune un<em> J.D. Rockefeller</em> ori un <em>Adam Smith</em> despre aceasta lume virtuala si despre potentialul ei economic enorm&#8230; I mean cum poti sa vinzi oamenilor iluzii si totusi tu sa castigi lucruri reale si palpabile?!?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Acestea fiind spuse cred ca o sa ma intorc la Pro Evolution Soccer-ul meu, ca daca tot nu am jucat fotbal in copilarie, macar sa o fac acum!</p>

Σε αυτό το σημείο, το X8 υπερτερεί όλων. Επίσης χρησιμοποιεί την αποκλειστική τεχνολογία BlueTrack στον οπτικό του αισθητήρα, η οποία θεωρητικά μπορεί να επιτύχει υψηλότερους βαθμούς ευαισθησίας από ότι οι αισθητήρες λέιζερ, αν και στην πράξη δύσκολα θα εντοπίσετε διαφορά.<a href="http://www.byteme.gr/technology/review/sidewinder_x8">[next]</a></p></blockquote>

Ο τίτλος των Double Fine και ΕΑ που κυκλοφόρησε στις 13/10 πούλησε περί τα 216.000 αντίτυπα εκ των οποίων τα 150.000 ήταν για το <a class="zem_slink" title="Xbox 360" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360">Xbox360</a> και τα υπόλοιπα 66.000 για το PS3. Το Adventure εκείνο είχε σημειώσει ιδιαίτερη επιτυχία στη Ρωσία, την ιδιαίτερη πατρίδα της εταιρείας. Κρίνοντας από την προηγούμενη αυτή κυκλοφορία, θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς πως η Ice-Peak Lodge, δίνει ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην ατμόσφαιρα των παιχνιδιών που δημιουργεί. Το The Void, στην προκειμένη περίπτωση, δεν αποτελεί εξαίρεση. Πριν πάρει το τελικό του όνομα, το παιχνίδι ονομαζόταν αρχικά “Tension”, ενώ μέσα στο 2008 κυκλοφόρησε για πρώτη φορά στη Ρωσία, με την ονομασία “Turgor”<a href="http://www.gameworld.gr/index.php?option=com_simple_review&#38;Itemid=2&#38;review=677-The-Void-PC">[next]</a></p></blockquote>

Πιο συγκεκριμένα, αναβαθμίζοντας την έκδοση του τίτλου στην 4.2, τα αρχικά προβλήματα όχι μόνο δεν λύνονται αλλά, δυστυχώς, επιδεινώνονται.
