We are excited that in recent days we’ve received more great donations, food and prizes from community businesses…plus another grant – this one from the Seattle Police Foundation!

Special guests include Mayor McGinn; Police Chief Diaz; Captain Steve Paulsen; Lt. Pierre Davis; Crime Prevention Coordinator, Mark Solomon and Officers from SW Precinct SPD.

Our group, the West Seattle Blockwatch Captains’ Network (WSBWCN) is responsible for matching the grant money with donations (money, food, materials, services and/or volunteer hours). Are you able to help with a donation?

If you can help, details about how to contribute and our wish-list of what is needed are in this  attached letter, WSBWCN_donation-information. The letter also explains the purpose of the party and the mission of our group in more detail. Any donations are tax deductible!

Thank you for considering our request. We are excited about organizing and hosting this event, as we feel it will benefit our community as well as individual Block Watch Captains. This party and recognition is a small thank-you gesture for the ongoing work that they do; as well, it is a wonderful opportunity for the Captains to meet all together in person and network with each other.

Whether you can help, have ideas, or just want a sneak preview as this takes shape; please join the discussion and planning! 

Potential ways to contribute:

  • Pre-event: Can you help with online registration, setup, or decorations? Do you want to help plan the food or entertainment, solicit gifts and/or donations? Do you have ideas or advice that will help maximize our budget? We’ll also need help getting the word out!
  • Day of event:  Would you like to greet or register people? Take photographs? Perform? Serve food? Can you help with cleanup?

What would make the event fun, memorable and meaningful for you? We do have a budget for this event, but we need to offset that with volunteer hours from our group. You can help by participating at this meeting!

SW Police Precinct, (2300 SW Webster Street – near Home Depot at Delridge/Webster).

6:00-6:30
Arrive early for light snacks, socializing and networking with other Captains while we set up the room!

6:30-6:45
Introductions, updates, announcements, neighborhood concerns, issues.

6:45-8:00
Planning for Appreciation Day (tentatively suggested for Friday evening, May 4th, but to be discussed).

8:00-8:30
Feel free to stay after the meeting to continue your discussions.

Everyone is welcome (even if you aren’t a Blockwatch Captain, yet)! RSVP is appreciated, but not necessary to attend.
