Enter, it says. And he says, Yes and does as he says. He doesn’t wait on the stoop. It is the door that spoke. It spoke without a tongue, as if the wind blew through it. And he walks over the threshold inside. It feels like love to enter and find the furniture arranged as if it, too, awaited a guest to arrive. Sit, I say. And sit he does. And so we talked all night like flames. The morning opened up the room. It hadn’t seemed close. Dark makes everything close seem far away and the far away seems near, like stars. The dead have come to me at night. And hate, which had rooted in my heart, unmoored. I said some of this to the guest. And some of this in particular he already knew. Together we arrived at the solution. Forgiveness is as easy as to ask. But knowing who should start troubles me still. Perhaps he keeps a souvenir. Perhaps. Perhaps he might never return. The house regards his departure just the same as it regards the blooming and the blowing of leaves.

Have you ever heard of her? No? That’s fantastic, that means I can tell you about her.

Emily Wells, as a musician, is mold-breaking, and that’s something I love about what she does.

Emily Wells is a musician that plays a staggering array of instruments, but I particularly recall her playing the violin. About a year or so ago, I stumbled upon a video of her in a recording studio playing Symphony 1 in the Barrel of a Gun. I remember that in this video she played the violin, and used one of those echoey big plastic toy microphones and added that and her voice to a looping track.

Sounds uncreative? That’s only because you haven’t heard it.

Truthfully, I think she’s going to be big. She is described to being similar to CocoRosie, and that in itself is honorable by award or medal, or something. I mean, CocoRosie is so out there that it seems like they’ve gone and created their own genre with a very elaborate sign saying: “No Entrance, Losers”. But, somehow, Emily Wells awesome’d herself past that sign, and through those gates and into the untouchably awesome genre.

That in itself should have you running to check out some of her music, but wait! I’ve got something fantastic for you. Do you remember that video I mentioned? Barrel of a Gun, recording studio, big plastic microphone? Yeah, you know the one. I’ve got that video right here for you. Doesn’t that just making you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside?

Yeah, you’re welcome.

A few summer’s back (I think 3 years ago to be exact) our neighbors gave us some iris bulbs to plant. We planted them soon after and they never bloomed…Until today. That’s right – today, November 18, 2009.

This flower never bloomed until today!

I was shocked to find buds on it a few days ago, and even more shocked when it actually bloomed today so I had to share a picture.

Superposition + Flou Gaussien = effet blooming

Merci !

Most people consider it to be common knowledge that people like to receive flowers, but a behavioral research study offers scientific evidence to confirm that there are definite emotional benefits to receiving flowers. Whether it is a cut flower arrangement or a potted blooming plant, flowers are a fantastic way to make someone a little happier!

Below is a great article written by the Society of American Florists about this study:

Gerber Daisy

With today’s high-tech and fast-paced lifestyle taking its daily toll on our lives, experts advise exercise and other personal lifestyle changes to relieve stress. According to behavioral research conducted at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, nature provides us with a simple way to improve emotional health – flowers. The presence of flowers triggers happy emotions, heightens feelings of life satisfaction and affects social behavior in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed.

“What’s most exciting about this study is that it challenges established scientific beliefs about how people can manage their day-to-day moods in a healthy and natural way,” said Jeannette Haviland-Jones, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at Rutgers and lead researcher on the study.

Kalanchoe

Research Findings

A team of researchers explored the link between flowers and life satisfaction in a 10-month study of participants’ behavioral and emotional responses to receiving flowers. The results show that flowers are a natural and healthful moderator of moods.

Flowers have an immediate impact on happiness. All study participants expressed “true” or “excited” smiles upon receiving flowers, demonstrating extraordinary delight and gratitude. This reaction was universal, occurring in all age groups.

Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. Specifically, study participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction.

Flowers make intimate connections. The presence of flowers led to increased contact with family and friends.

“Common sense tells us that flowers make us happy,” said Dr. Haviland-Jones. “Now, science shows that not only do flowers make us happier than we know, they have strong positive effects on our emotional well being.”

Sharing Space

The study also explored where in their homes people display flowers. The arrangements were placed in areas of the home that are open to visitors – such as foyers, living rooms and dining rooms – suggesting that flowers are a symbol for sharing.

Cyclamen

“Flowers bring about positive emotional feelings in those who enter a room,” said Dr. Haviland-Jones. “They make the space more welcoming and create a sharing atmosphere.”

Intentionally nurturing the ideas that bloom in your mind can open an entire new world of possibilities.

For over 12 years I’ve been a technical writer, so it is very natural and easy for me to enhance that existing talent. It’s safe; however, to step out and try something new and be willing to admit that I don’t do it well and be willing to fail is courage. 2009 has been a year of new beginnings for me. I’ve done so many things this year that I either thought were impossible for me to do or that I thought were not relevant to the goals in my life, but turns out that they were, for example blogging, writing articles, teaching Yoga, and drawing.

It’s all about blossoming ideas. When ideas bloom in our heads we can either ignore those blooms or nurture them. In prior years, in a different economy, and a different mind set, I ignored blooming ideas…especially ideas about any other type of writing that wasn’t technical. I had become comfortable in the usual, typical, and the stable. This year, God took me out of that comfort zone and grew my spirit and my mind.

I want to encourage you that when ideas bloom in your mind, nurture them, listen to them, research them, try them, and practice them. The Internet brings a myriad of resources to us without us needing to leave our homes or spend money. Don’t do like I did and get complacent, lazy, and content. I’m glad that God finally knocked me upside of my head, so that I could pay attention to the blooms in my mind.

Don’t panic when you get the vision, but not the specific ideas. It’ll come. Sometimes the visions are just seeds to bloom the idea. Keep praying, believing, and moving. Now is the time to entertain new ideas, extend your bed of knowledge, and enhance existing ideas. The only bad idea is one that doesn’t get tried.

Many blessings,

So, with making a fully etsy outfit to go with the above bracelet in mind, this is what I’ve come up with so far:

Copper Chocolate Earrings by TinyMishaps on etsy

MmMm Mircro Suede Gothic Victorian Inspired Shoulder Wrap..by RomancingJuliet on etsy

Red A-Line Cowl Dress by evilneedles on etsy

And possibly this:

Too many autumn blooms? I kind of like it.

But which shoes? I wanted boots but couldn’t find any that made sense, especially with the length on the dress and matching browns… So I’ve comeup with these below.
