     It was may or probably feb..i dont remember but it was the 1st “mini-marathon” i ever ran…in school the farthest i’ve run was about 400m and that was was insanely exhausting! The only thing that was on my mind was the 1st marathon runner who ran a hell lot of kms (maybe 100km or so) to deliver a message and died after delivering it out of exhaustion..well so i heard frm my 3rd std teacher..but the pretty new girl who had shifted to my school was there waiting with a bottle of glucose with a smile on her face..that was all i needed to 4get about dying!

         And now back to the “mini-marathon”. It was the sunfeast10k, the 1st of its kind in bangalore..and man was it huge! The turn-out was historical..that made me wonder about how quickly ppl have become health conscious over the years..television isnt an idiot box..or not completely an idiot box atleast. Well there i was waiting alongwith about a few thousand ppl for the 10k to start. The run started and the Gatorade in me was really psyching(picked up from one of my dopee friends) me out. But my cousin and her friend were there running lazily next to me…i was so frustrated and told them ill meet them at the loo and ran my arse of for about 4 kms non-stop(no exaggeration..gatorade works!). As you might have guessed i was really tired and these 6 pretty girls were holding glucose bottles and smiling and screaming -”hey cutie! you can do it! run! run!” not wanting the pretty smiles to fade(yeah im a sucker for smiling cute girls)..I grabbed the bottle smiling quickly and bounded off with all the energy i could muster…as soon as i turned the corner i started walking and drinking the glucose ..i couldnt help grinning to myself even though the glucose was pouring all over my face.

      Finally after running 59mins in the bloody hot sun..the run was over..was walking to collect my certificate and the goody bag when this insanely cute girls walking towards me…with a mic! But it was too late..ill tell you y in a while..anyway she was so fast tht i thought she actually ran! ive msged my friends a dozen times abt wat happened..here is the exact msg- “well..ill tell u the whole thing…2 of my other friends were there but i had no idea where! u can guess y..the lazy louts cant run for nuts…i just finished the marathon and was out of breath when this man comes over and asks if he could make a call..and i just gave the phone to him…hes busy talkin when i spot this reporter frm youngistaan with a cnn mic..she looks at our direction and starts walking over..my 1st thought was to scoot but i couldnt coz of this stupid man..then she comes over..camera rolling and asks “hey can i speak to u ppl”..the man says yes and then she asks me! “u look tired how did u find the run”…and some 3 more questions in a row! i just said something like im really tired and im in a hurry sorry..and RUN OFF hahahaha…the woman was gud lookin man..but u should have seen her expression..it was priceless! Hw many times do u c a reporter being snubbed on live tv! “

   A few mins later i went to collect my certificate and my friends older bro calls up and says DUDE i saw u on tv!

After sharing Lucky Larry, I felt bad about not posting the video itself. Then I remembered I have a bunch of ridiculous projects from my video production classes at Millikin.

Complete with fancy VHS case!

Each one of these videos features me being stupid in one way or another. Be advised, all of these videos would rank up in the PG-13 range for some inappropriate language and sexual references. They are also class projects, so cut me some slack on the production values.

Here’s a teaser trailer to give you a taste of the madness:

The first project is called “The Hazards of College.” Yes, I notice that I spelled it wrong on the box. During this production, I give terrible advice about surviving college. Fun facts: that really was my nasty dorm sophomore year, and that really was what I looked like.

The next is called “Missing Work.” I star as myself, a procrastinating student with facial hair that changes constantly during the entire video. Fun fact: the dream sequence is from a Family Guy episode.

“Action News 8″ was one of my favorites to film, and foreshadows my future career in the media industry. If you are wondering why the video goes black and white for a while, it was a failed joke. The script called for an old “Emmett Kelly”-type hobo to dance through the frame. While he was on screen, everything was supposed to look old-timey. A pointless gag that didn’t quite work. Fun fact: My wife, Alida, makes her debut as one of the photographers “swarming” the scene.

My favorite of all was called “Group Dynamics.” Fun facts: The music was written and recorded by co-star Ray Noelle. Alida makes her second appearance, making out with me in the back of the editing room!

Since working on these, I think I’ve grown a little bit. I am proud to say that my work ethic and appearance has changed for the better. My sense of humor is still the same, but I have outlets for that. Some projects I am working on will feature sex, drugs, and zombies. Until then, I leave you with one more bit of college goodness… the blooper reel!

It’s 2:30 am. Again. Seems like all I do is stare the clock down during these dark hours. I never blink, and neither does he.

I’d like a break from me. A little vacation. Where I have no past. A vacation where I don’t have to remember every embarrassing moment of my life in vivid detail. Where I don’t have to remember every painful moment. Every stupid moment. every bittersweet moment. It’s like a never ending blooper real of my life…only there’s multiple reels. Tonight, my mind is stuck on the “Endings” reel. And it’s playing in sllooooow motion.

I can’t help but wonder why I’ve never ended anything well in my life. I know we’re not supposed to have regrets. That’s the PC thing to say. That’s the christian thing to say. Well, I’m pretty sure I have regrets. I’m pretty sure that’s the feeling keeping me up at night…every night.

The scenes…from every ending to every job, friendship, relationship…run through my head in a never ending reel. How I wish they’d stop. I’ve done such a good job at shoving it all away for so long that there’s no place left to shove them. And believe me I’m trying. That’s the problem with being with yourself all the time.

What is your biggest fear for the “oops” of your wedding day?

Something is going to happen in a not so perfect way, so how do you prepare? Life is just not perfect. Despite the planning, the attempts to think of everything, the hard work and the assignments, the sooner you realize that some little thing can happen, the more likely you are to really enjoy your day.

I mean for months before your wedding, everyone has tips. Take safety pins, don’t forget to go to the bathroom before you put on your dress, and whatever you do, don’t sit Aunt Sue near Uncle Harold.

I loved my wedding. It was exactly how it should have been. Was it perfect? Absolutely not, I forgot to kiss my dad. The music was magnificent; the strings were playing Pachelbel’s Canon. The sun was setting in the distance and everything was exactly how I had imagined it, actually MORE beautiful than I had imagined it. I took my dad’s arm and he walked me down the aisle.

I don’t know if it was the nervousness about going down stairs in front of the guests, the excitement of finally marrying the man I had been dating for over seven years, or the distraction of trying to take it all in… but my poor dad got me up there only to have me grab my fiancé’s hand and well, really, never look back.

It was about 2 hours later, during the reception, that it dawned on me that I never kissed him. He gave me away and in front of everyone, I forgot to kiss him ‘good-bye’. How do you apologize for something like that?

I had to let it go, I walked over to him, hugged him, kissed him, thanked him and went on with the night. Sure I brought it up later so he knew how sorry I was, but I didn’t make a big deal about it or let it ruin the evening.

That was my big thing that went wrong and I never even DREAMED it would happen. Did other things go wrong? Sure. Did we let them get to us? No.

The key isn’t trying to plan so that nothing goes wrong, the key is to know that despite the best laid plans, something will. In the end you will still be married to the man of your dreams at the end of the day, and that is what this day is all about.
