I have to say that this is probably my favorite song by Blu.

You can probably tell that he is one of my favorite hip hop artists as I’ve posted quiet a few of his tracks on here previously.

This fan made video uses a compilation of scenes from a French movie from 1958 called ‘Ascenseur pour l’echafaud’ (Elevator to the Gallows) which was directed by Louis Malle. A perfect video to go along with this song.

Blu’s lyrics always carry so much depth and this is yet another example of why he is a brilliant poet and rapper.

The beat is amazing as well and the Billie Holiday sample on this is beautiful.

This was pretty nice on the ride home.

With a rollercoaster intro which leads into ‘Wanna be Startin Somethin‘ It shows the final rehearsal days of Michael Jackson performing switching from a number of different camera angels and switching from High Quality video footage to standard footage this then shows Michael singing how we all remember and reaching those high notes with ease as well as moving and dancing around the stage better then the backing dancers half his age.

The rehearsals kicks off with Michael and the directors and staff picking the best backing dancers from a whole stage full of men and woman showing their movies to ‘Smooth Criminal‘ you then start to see the amount of dancers drop due to not impressing the crew and Michael who are on looking which the film then cuts to see Michael watching plus picking the dancers he likes.

Now that the final dancers have been picked for the tour and concerts the movie then moves onto setting up the stage for the 02 Arena 50 dates and what the staff and crew planned to happen. Moving on to see what the crew had planned for the concerts such as Screen and Fire Effects looked really amazing and if this concert took place it would of been the best concert of all time , after all the work has been showed of how the set of the stage would look it then goes to talk to more people behind the scenes such as make up artists and clothes designers which shows you all the work gone into each piece of clothing some of the pieces have never seen before or done before.

Throughout the rehearsal footage it cuts to Michael telling the band and the crew how he wants ‘His’ songs to sound and changing parts and guiding them what would sound best for the fans , it then shows you ‘Smooth Criminal’ the short movie which is in black and white where it would set the scene for the performance on stage , as well as ‘Thriller’ with the Ghostly dancers moving towards the camera as this part was meant to be in 3D each song had itself a nice intro into the performance where it would have the screens showing a scene which will go with the song selection.

Some parts throughout the Movie / Rehearsals concert you notice a very thin Michael where the clothes seems to be hanging off and then other sections of the film he looks fine and healthy it just seems to think that could Michael Jackson of done the 50 dates which AEG agreed on as from this footage you could see that 10 sold out dates in London would of been perfect and he would of been able to do them fine , There is a section of the film which has Michael performing some Jackson 5 songs but during one of them was unable to sing because the ear piece was rammed into his ear he was unable to hear the vocals over the backing music which was a shame as the stage setup looks great and colourful. Michael sung songs which as ‘Speechless’ as a solo without a backing band or singers which sends a chill down your spine as it sounded so pure and heartfelt.

It makes you quite tearful throughout the film as you can see he cared so much about how the fans want to see Michael Jackson perform again and be back to where he belongs , you can see a lot of time and effort has gone into making this one of the best concerts of all time it would of helped Michael Jackson so much for his personal life and the comeback was well overdue , the movie finishes with the soundtrack to the film with the same title ‘This is it’.

Minus Points:

• - Not as much bonus footage as promoted
• - The large amount of standard footage there should of been more high Quality footage
• - Seems like lots of footage has been cut out as the cameras should of kept rolling

Plus Points:

• - Watching Michael Jackson perform on stage
• - Special effects
• - High Quality footage when available

We saw the three relics that are on display and then went into the Blue Mosque.   As described in all the guide books and by our guide, it is magnificent and the tiles on the walls and ceilings of the mosque were spectacular.   Some of us did not have a scarf to put over our heads so we were lent bright blue scarves which didn’t exactly fit but did the job.

Once we left the Blue Mosque, we walked to Aya Sofya which is a wonderful building that was originally a church and then a mosque and now a museum.  Part of the group had to leave us to go to Gallipolli so we had plenty of time to wander around.  The carvings on the pillars in the upper level were intricate acanthus leaves and other types of leaves and were just wonderful.   Most of the building was very difficult to photograph because there was some scaffolding in the way and the lighting was not great.   Having said that, I took lots of photographs but mostly of parts of walls, tiles, or other tiny pieces of the building.  I really didn’t do it justice.

We had a bit of problem meeting up at the end because there was some confusion about where we were meeting so most of the group went outside the building area and could not get back in to meet with those of us inside.  The guide could not find them and eventually we managed to meet up when one of the group phoned Bayram to say they were outside. Definitely time for lunch!

We went to a restaurant with tables outside in the sunshine and had a wonderful meal.  I had a stew of meat – possibly beef, may have been lamb in a tomato sauce with peppers and it was delicious.  Others had pitta bread pizzas or kebabs.

After lunch we walked through the Grand Bazaar and then the Spice Market before ending up on the waterfront.  We crossed the bridge over the Golden Horn to Beyoglu and caught the funicular up to the Balata Tower.   From the top of the tower, we had a great view of the city, the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus and took yet more photos.  We were due to walk back but most of the group were tired so they persuaded the guide to catch the tram back to the hotel – definitely a good move!   I don’t think I have walked quite so much in a long time.   Thank goodness, tomorrow is due to be a quieter day

Photos today of the dome in the Blue Mosque, a carving in Aya Sofia, our guide pointing out the clothes worn at a Henna Party before a wedding and spices in the spice market.   We decided that the least the shop could have done was give the mannequin a smile – she is definitely not happy about getting married!
