January
Our year started off with a bang because we helped to plan and execute our Pastor’s 20th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration. This month long celebration was full of design, print, time and energy. We had a blast at every event and the service we rendered was more than worth it.

We also started our wedding season off in January with a wonderful bride who infused her African ancestry with a modern American flare into her wedding day.

February
The celebration for our Pastor continued and wedding season bloomed fully. We had save the dates growing out of our ears and were gearing up for our wedding wonderland that would span from March to October.

The “tie the knot” design from 2011 still reigned supreme in 2012!

We also had the distinct pleasure of helping to plan the wedding of a family member and Lisa collaborated with two Atlanta planners, Brian Green and Michelle Gainey, and hosted a workshop for wedding planners. Lisa provided the marketing and branding expertise for the event.

We ended the month on a high with a client who we’ve serve in the corporate arena for years. It was a lovely wedding at the perfect location!

We had a fabulous wedding that showcased the color scheme of purple and black fabulously.

We also enjoyed providing the stationery for a bride whose colors were black, ivory, and blush. It was the perfect color scheme to usher winter out of the door and welcome in Spring!

Blush Colors for Weddings via Prima Donna Bride

Are you planning your wedding in 2013, what are your colors, are you incorporating any of these amazing color ideas?

Vintage charm, rustic chic and soft pastels have been the craze this last year in weddings and looks to be a continuing design inspiration in the coming Fall season. There is just something so sweet about saying your ‘I Dos’ surrounded by the soft setting of blush pinks, peach tones and natural accents like heather or scabiosa pods.

And of course, I have a Blush Pinterest board to gather all the beautiful inspiration out there.

Blush tones are soft and elegant and look gorgeous in spring and summer weddings. You can get ideas for color schemes by using your own makeup as a sample color palette.

Whether you make your entire color scheme blush tones, or incorporate just a few blush items, we are loving this trend!

The offset of blush bridesmaid dresses with the bride’s white wedding dress looks beautiful.

Looking for a nontraditional wedding dress? This blush dress is absolutely stunning!

Blush heels can be worn by the bride and/or bridesmaids; they would look gorgeous with white, beige, or gray dresses.

Headband or headpieces with blush embellishments look lovely.

Using a sash or ribbon around the bride or bridesmaid dresses is a great way to spice up a solid color dress.

The bride may want to wear a blush embellished garter.

Wear soft neutral tones of pinks and browns on your lips, cheeks, and eyes.

Paint your nails soft pink or neutral colors; it looks classy and chic.

Blush toned flowers look very pretty by themselves or mixed with white or brighter toned flowers too.

Add ribbon and/or flowers to your ring pillow

Incorporate colors in your altar with flowers, ribbons, or tulle.

Use blush colored balloons for your big exit.

These centerpieces are absolutely remarkable and sophisticated with ivory accents.

Love the added touch of gold to the blush table cloth, napkins, and plates.

Use sheer organza fabric to wrap your chairs with.

Light up your reception with chinese lanterns.

Serve blush toned drinks!

Have a food bar with fun soft pink colored foods like cotton candy, bubble gum balls, pink wafer cookies, frosted donuts, frosted cupcakes, frosted cookies, even colored hard boiled eggs!

Lastly, don’t forget the fabulous wedding cake!

These colors are beautiful alone or work well with white, cream, gray, silver, gold, and light brown color tones.

Of course, I couldn’t help but snap a few at their beautiful ceremony.  I took Rick & Crystal’s Engagement Photos in downtown St. Pete last year, and I have been looking forward to what I knew was going to be a wonderful day ever since.

Crystal has been a friend of mine for a several years, so I just knew that everything she chose for the big day was going to be perfect.  But.  BUT.  I was (am!) obsessed! with how gorggggg her dress is.

They’re married!  Yay!

I adore everything about the colour “blush”. It is so soft, feminine and warm. I was reminded how much I adore the colour when I stopped into the new David’s Bridal in Ottawa (at Trainyards). I was very pleased to be greeted by a Vera Wang blush-coloured gown. As soon as I got home, I started hunting for beautiful blush details, and here’s what I found.

Skincare

It’s always important to drink water but in the days leading up to your big day, make sure you drink at  least 8 glasses of water per day. This will give you the glow and clear skin you are seeking. 

If you wake up with a pimple , do NOT squeeze it. This will make things worse.  There are concealers that you can use to cover it up.  Take a lip brush and lightly dab the concealer over the pimple. Your makeup artist can also help you with this.

 Do not try any new products (including makeup) the week of your wedding. It’s best to try these products well in advance in case of a breakout or allergy caused by the product. Make sure you use products that are right for YOUR skin. If you are unsure, visit a beauty sales counter and seek their advice on what is best for your skin type. 

Do not get a facial the week of your wedding. A facial can cause irritations or redness , especially with first-timers or those with sensitive skin.

Makeup

I suggest hiring a professional to do your makeup on the day of your wedding. Not only will you look gorgeous but you will feel great too. There is just something about having someone else do your makeup (and hair) . For me, I am very content sitting in a chair allowing others to work their magic on me. It feels glamorous. Please, Please, Please practice with your artist before hand. Just because they claim they are a professional does not mean their work is fabulous or that their personality will click with yours.  Again, do not try any new products the day of your wedding just in case you have an allergy to that product.

Haircare

Do not try out any new styles or color in the month (or months) leading up to your wedding.   Enough said. 

Bodycare

Most of your bodycare (along with the above) begins months before your wedding.  Drink plenty of water. Stay away from sugar, carbs, and grease in the days leading up to your wedding. These cause stress and bloating and you do want to fit into that beautiful (and probably expensive) wedding dress. 

Many people suggest a massage the day before or day of. I , however, do not suggest this. Depending on your stress/tension level, you may come away from the massage a little achy after having those muscles worked on.  You don’t want to be in pain while dancing the night away at your rehearsal.

I hope these last minute preparation tips help you not only look great but FEEL fabulous. It’s YOUR day. All eyes are on YOU. Enjoy your day as a Princess.
