BMW have been quite busy at work with their latest Z4 sports car and now, part of their customer racing programme, they made it possible for private teams to buy a new racing car from BMW: the GT3 Z4.

BMW are adamant that the new car “is an impressive addition to the BMW product range” and I do tend to believe them. The Z4 racing car uses the 4-litre V8 from the M3 but now producing a mighty horsepower figure of about 480. Of course, the car complies with FIA GT3 racing regulations so you can just buy it and compete in some of the following racing championships: the FIA GT3 European Championship, International GT Open and the ADAC GT Masters and 24-hour endurance races as well. The “brain” of the car is quite clever as all the electronics come from the already impressive M3 GT2, a racing car with a lot of potential. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission. However, the two most interesting features of this car are: racing ABS and air conditioning. Well, we’ve seen racing ABS before but the air conditioning is just strange. It is however needed in 24-hour races when the drivers need to stay cool for long stints.

So if you want to go racing and you haven’t bought a car yet, I recommend you the BMW Z4 for the GT3 class. It will be available from the second quarter of 2010 and it will cost about €300.000.

BMW has announced that it will unleash its hottest new Z4 yet at the Detroit show in January.

It isn’t an M, but it isn’t far off. The snappily named Z4 sDrive35is (that ’s’ at the end is the important new bit) gets BMW’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine boosted up to 340bhp – 34bhp more than the previous most powerful Z4.

Which means it is fast. The new Z4 will crack 62mph in 4.8 seconds – down 0.3 seconds and exactly the same as the Porsche Boxster Spyder – with top speed limited to 155mph.

There’s extra torque, too – up from 332lb ft to 369lb ft on overboost. BMW’s seven-speed double-clutch gearbox is fitted as standard, mated to a launch control system.

Need more kit? How about lower suspension, a new sports exhaust and an M-Sport bodykit?

All of which, inevitably, comes at a price: just shy of £44,000, which puts it right on level pegging with that Boxster Spyder – though you do, admittedly, get a whole lot more equipment as standard in your Z4. Like, er, doorhandles. And a roof.

With no news on a Z4M arriving any time soon, this is the hottest Z4 we’ll see for a while. It goes on sale in the UK next March: anyone tempted?

BMW has introduce the high-performance sDrive35is mode of the new 2011 Z4. Spying testing a the epoch before, the car is a twin handle for BMW fans who also longed for the profit of the “is” badge. Improvements are not just in the engine bay but also in the outdoor and interior appointments.

The M Sports Package includes a new front plentiful with a very distinctive M look and external air intakes ended in matt aluminium, everyday 18-crawl light alloy rims (19-inch possible), a new rear buffer with specially accentuated surrounds on the tailpipes and a two-example diffuser. The exhaust wrote is imaginary to be reflective of the car’s repute in the ploy of gear. The adjustable suspension is lowered by 10 millimetres and provides a good assess between sporty and comfortable.

Making the Z4 sDrive35is trimming elite is an upgraded engine system whose country was bigger from a degree 225kW (306hp) to 250kW (340hp) unfilled at 5,800rpm. However, US customers will have to make do with only 246kW (335hp). Torque has been boosted from 400Nm to 450Nm (332 lb-ft) between 1,400rpm and 4,500rpm under habitual dynamic. A unique overboost affair takes it to 500Nm (369 lb-ft).

The Launch Control system that will accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in 4.8 seconds and obstruct accelerating at 250km/h (155mph). The transmission is the 7-race dual-clasp worn in the common sDrive35i. Average fuel consumption is said to be 9.0 litres/100 kilometres (even to 26.1 mpg US) while corresponding C02 emissions are 210g/km.

To make this all happen the sitting’s 3.0-litre twin turbo group was tweaked through actions like optimising air stream and increasing boost make. The two small turbos made from singular steel have very low inertia and can cope with temperatures of more than 1,000° C (1,830° F).

The interior skinned M account strips, gearlever bulge, aluminium carbon and a new leather colour. There are six external colours but regardless of what hue a buyer chooses the piece mirrors are always in Oxide Silver.

The BMW Z4 sDrive35is will debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show next month. US and European Market launch are in jump. All other Z4 models will also be existing with the M Sports Package as a decision.

BMW has unveiled a sportier version of the Z4 called the sDrive35is (Sounds like the name of some appliance), as well as an M Sport package for the stock Z4. They will make their first live appearances at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.

The sDrive35is (Which I will refer to from here as the 35is) is based on the Z4 35i equipped with the new M Sport package. It uses the same twin-turbocharged 3.0L straight six, but with a few changes. There’s a higher-flow intake and the turbos spool up to higher boost pressures. The result is that the car now produces 335hp and 332lb-ft of torque. Oh, and for brief bursts, the 35is’ turbos will spin to even higher boost pressures, resulting in up to 369 torques.

The claimed 0-60 time is 4.7 seconds. Other changes include revised electric power steering programming, a dual-clutch gearbox as standard, and brake energy regeneration.

Now then, the M Sport package. The contents of this package come standard with the 35is, as it is based on the 35i with this package, so if you only want to know about that car, I suggest you still keep reading.

The changes here improve two areas: aerodynamics and suspension. Aerodynamically, the car gets a new set of bumpers, which I believe are slightly different from the 35is. As for the suspension, the car gets adaptive M suspension, which drops the ride height by about 0.4-inches, as well as electronically controlled shock absorbers, which BMW call Dynamic Damping Control. These aren’t any different on the 35is.

There’s also a set of new wheels, but there’s no mention of whether or not they affect performance. The interior will get some changes as well. There’s a new thick-rimmed M leather steering wheel, an M driver footrest, M seats, door sill strips, floor mats, and special M interior trim with aluminum carbon finish.

Both packages look very promising, with the M Sport package adding nice visual touches and better handling and the sDrive35is adding plenty of excitement. Still wish there would be a proper Z4M though.

Range-topping Z4 sDrive35is model makes world premiere at NAIAS.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 12, 2009, 6pm EST… Combining classic proportions with modern features, the BMW Z4 Roadster enjoys the top spot in its market segment. Now, the new BMW Z4 sDrive35is distills the Roadster’s performance potential to produce one of BMW’s fastest and best-handling Roadsters ever. The BMW Z4 sDrive35is is making its world debut as a 2011 model at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. It arrives at authorized BMW Centers in Spring 2010.

More air, boost, and torque: More BMW performance.
The latest Z4 model is characterized by instantaneous response to the accelerator pedal, fantastic sounds, and a free-revving spirit. The engine features increased air intake flow and increased boost pressure to release more power with the same standard of efficiency. The combination of twin low-mass turbochargers and High Precision direct injection offers an output a naturally-aspirated engine would only be able to provide through more cylinders and larger displacement.
The turbocharger system developed for the engine of the new BMW Z4 sDrive35is maintains a high output throughout the entire engine speed range. Nominal peak torque is increased to 332 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Maximum output of 335 hp is delivered at 5,900 rpm.
Overboost function for athletic acceleration.
The enhanced engine management system of the BMW Z4 sDrive35is includes an electronically-controlled overboost function to briefly increase torque under full load by another 37 lb-ft. This temporary torque peak of 369 lb-ft gives the car a significant increase in acceleration. The BMW Z4 sDrive35is will complete the sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds (preliminary). Top speed of the BMW Z4 sDrive35is is limited electronically to 250 km/h or 155 mph.
High Precision direct injection and BMW EfficientDynamics.
The BMW Z4 sDrive35is offers outstanding power and performance without an increase in fuel consumption or emissions. Its figures are expected to match those of the BMW Z4 sDrive35i with Double-Clutch Transmission on the EPA test cycle. This balance of performance and fuel efficiency results from the fundamental design and layout of the BMW inline-6, which combines twin turbochargers with High Precision direct injection. The fuel injectors operate at a pressure of up to 200 bar (2900 psi), distributing fuel in a conical spray pattern throughout the combustion chamber. Another advantage of direct fuel injection is its cooling effect which allows higher compression while reducing the possibility of detonation.
Further technologies offered under the BMW EfficientDynamics philosophy include Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering, and on-demand operation of engine accessory units.
Signature engine sound to accompany the surge of power.
The exhaust system of the BMW Z4 sDrive35is has been tuned specifically for this model. Acoustic engineering gives the car a very unique sound pattern across the speed range. This tuned sound is the result of special baffles and a unique set of mufflers. The sound is characterized by a deep rumble with a focus on the low frequency sound range.
Enhanced Electric Power Steering.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) on the BMW Z4 sDrive35is features very sporty programming, focused to provide intense and clear steering feedback to the driver. This enables the driver to turn-in with remarkable precision and confidence at all vehicle speeds.
7-speed Double-Clutch Transmission with special programming.
The standard 7-speed Double-Clutch Transmission (DCT) in the BMW Z4 sDrive35is combines the best in driving dynamics and efficiency. A highlight is the dual-mass flywheel, configured for the higher levels of power and performance. The DCT can shift gears without the slightest interruption of power to the rear tires, and offers a choice of automatic or manual gear selection. The programming of the DCT has been tailored to complement the sporty nature of the BMW Z4 sDrive35is at every level.
When shifting gears manually or within the SPORT and SPORT+ modes of the Z4’s standard Driving Dynamics Control, the transmission offers an exciting experience through faster gearshifts and a greater increase in torque before shifting. The DCT also features a Launch Control function for maximum performance when accelerating from a standstill. The DCT is controlled by an electronic gear selector on the center console and comes with gearshift paddles on the steering wheel.
M Sport upgrades to match the new engine’s performance.
The BMW Z4 sDrive35is includes new M Sport upgrades such as M Aerodynamics and adaptive M Suspension. The adaptive M Suspension combines a ride-height reduction of 10 millimeters (almost 0.4″) with electronically controlled shock absorbers (Dynamic Damping Control) to improve the vehicle’s agility without compromising ride comfort. The M Sport upgrades emphasize the Z4’s athletic character through aerodynamically optimized exterior features and customized interior components.
Special 18-inch light-alloy wheels in five-spoke design round off the sporty character of the Z4 sDrive35is. 19-inch light-alloy wheels are available as an option. In addition to its unique wheels, the new model is further distinguished by a striking front bumper with a matte aluminum trim bar in each outer air intake, a rear bumper with accentuated surrounds on the tailpipes, and a rear diffuser finished at top in body color and black textured surface underneath.
M Sport interior enhancements and new Kansas Walnut leather.
Inside the BMW Z4 sDrive35is, the driving experience is enhanced by features such as a new thick-rimmed M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, an M driver’s footrest, and sport seats. Grey-faced instrument dials feature the “sDrive35is” model designation. Further features inside the Z4 sDrive35is are the Anthracite-colored BMW Individual roof lining, M door sill strips, floor mats with colored piping and the “sDrive35is” model designation, as well as M interior trim in Aluminum Carbon. The new Aluminum Carbon trim features the recognizable “weave” of natural carbon fiber interpreted on a matte aluminum base.
The range of leather upholstery is being further enhanced by an additional color variant marking the launch of the BMW Z4 sDrive35is: All versions of the Z4 Roadster are now also available in Kansas Walnut leather as an option. The BMW Z4 sDrive35is is available with a choice of six paintwork colors. In addition to Alpine White and the metallic colors Titanium Silver, Black Sapphire, Space Grey, and Deep Sea Blue, the Z4 Roadster is now available for the first time in Melbourne Red metallic. Regardless of the color chosen, the exterior mirror caps on the BMW Z4 sDrive35is are always Oxide Silver.

Looks like the front end should resemble the 7 Series and Z4. I’ve lost a hell of a lot of faith in BMW lately though, with their hybrid M1 concept and the SUV M cars. They’re ripping away from their brilliant roots and taking up a horrible new image. It’s more about badge than how good the car is as well, and it has been for some time now. I was lucky enough the other day to go for a spin in my friends brand new BMW Z4 (2.3i SDrive model) – and i have to say it was a very impressive experience. The car just feels alot ‘tighter’ than the previous model, with the handling in particular a stand out feature.

Z4 2.3 SDrive statistics:

• Engine – 2497cc 6-cylinder, 24v petrol engine – 204bhp
• Transmission – 6-speed manual, rear-wheel drive
• Performance - 0-62mph in 6.6 sec, Top Speed = 151mph

Couple this superb engine with the (to be expected) high-quality interior fittings and you have a most impressive roadster package indeed.

My only regret was that i will probably never have sufficient funding to afford one of my own! Luckily there are some excellent BMW car leasing options available these days – hmmmm, i wonder……………..

With the demo now live and many Forza 3 nuts circulating around the track in 6 of the different cars, one in each class, many have been hanging out to see what Turn 10 would lay on them next.

Drifting fans will not be disappointed, as the infamous Skyline, of which there are several versions naturally, will grace your screen and be able to be customised to your hearts content.

Here is an superb example of what Forza 3 can deliver in the hands of an expert Drifting team such as Team Blackjack. All the video you see here is from “actual gameplay” which has been constructed with the in-game video editor to give you an example of what is possible from the final game.

Shot at the Kita-Kantiou road circuit which has over 10 miles of open roads, and in excess of 100 corners to go mad on. But these guys make it look easy-as. Just watch the steady hands on the steering wheels as they loop around each other, and slide at 45 deg angles less than a few meters apart from each other.

It is simply just amazing, anyone that says that it’s not in-game footage obviously hasn’t played the demo yet (which you can access via our online download facilty ex-UK Xbox.com below)

If you think that you are good at drifting, then you best think twice, as these guys literally drive (drift) rings around most competitors, let alone the lay-drifter that resides in us all.

Take your time, view the video, make sure you see it a few times to observe the sheer brilliance of this driving team in actual action in Forza 3. As well as the bevy of Skyline and other Japanese car images below that are only some of the huge line-up of cars available out-of-the-box, and also via DLC after release on October 23rd (22nd Japan/Asia and 27th Nth America).

I’ll be giving you my Forza 3 personal impressions later tonight, even though many have gotten theirs up already, I wanted to make mine just that little bit different, so stay tuned. And, above all, thanks to our many Forza 3 fans who come here daily to get the news from Forza 3’s biggest unofficial site on the net.

Fujimi Kaido Track Returns to Forza Motorsport 3

Forza 3 lovers will be delighted to know one more of their favourite tracks is returning come October 23rd – 27th when the game is released.

It’s a tight, hard track, but one well worth putting in the effort to master. Plus Honda lovers will be delighted to see the Handa S2000 back onboard for them to go crazy over with liveries, customization, paint and all manner of do-dads.

With an all-new layout that runs through the backside of the Fujimi Kaido mountain, totaling a challenging 10 miles of mountainous circuits and point-to-point stages, fans of the original track will encounter a completely new experience. Inspired by the thrilling downhill street racing style made popular in Japan, Fujimi Kaido offers fans the perfect setting for touge-style racing and drifting.

Fans of drifitng will also be receiving an additional treat. In Forza Motorsport 3, drift mode is always on. Players score drift points while racing in both single-player and multiplayer races. Additionally, drift points will be reflected in a new global drift scoreboard, adding yet another new experience to the high-stakes competitive community of Forza Motorsport 3.”

The Honda S2000 will be in the game.

After some brief speculation and a lot of prayers to the car gods, BMW India it seems has decided to answer our prayers and in October the company plans on introducing one of the most desired cars from their stable-the Z4 roadster.

The Z4 is literally BMW’s take on what a roadster ought to be. It’s got the aura of classic roadsters complimented by the latest technology and gadgets. A lot has gone into the design of the car and even here you will find the ‘classic meeting the future’ look, for in true classic fashion the roadster boasts of a long stretched hood and short overhangs, of course the future aspect comes in from the sculpted flamed body panels and the pronounced wheel arches at the rear.

The interiors boast of low seats, which have incidentally been placed closer to the rear axle in order to provide great road feedback to the driver as well as stick with the roadster design theme. Loads of leather and that typical BMW quality of fit and finish can be found in abundance on the inside. Elegance meets sport is the underlying theme here and the Z4 is touted to fit that shoe with ease.

One of the most interesting features of the Z4 roadster is its retractable hardtop. The new Z4 happens to be the first BMW roadster to ever come with a hardtop. The hardtop is made up of two aluminum shells that are capable of closing in around 20 seconds. Whether you cruise around with the roof down or with it covered the Z4 has a striking look that cannot be matched by many. It’s a modern day classic.

In terms of engine choices, BMW India has not disclosed too many details, however looking at what is available under the hood internationally does shed some light on things to come. One thing is certain about the engine option and that is the fact that no matter which Z4 you choose, you will receive a straight six under the hood. Internationally the Z4 is available with three engine choices, namely, the Z4sDrive 23i which churns out 204 hp, the sDrive 30i which makes 258 hp and the sDrive35i which churns out a whopping 306 hp.

In terms transmission options, BMW offers a 6 speed manual box on the Z4, however considering the fact that none of the BMW’s in India have ever come in with a manual, the chances of seeing this great 6 speed box is most likely out of the question. On the other hand the seven speed sport automatic double clutch transmission which is only available on the Z4 sDrive35i does sound like a lot of fun and fits in with BMW India’s plans of only introducing automatics for the country.

India has not been a traditional market for roadsters; however the likes of the Mercedes SLK and Porsche Boxter and Cayman are set to get some rather stiff Bavarian competition in the days to come.

BMW will unveil its redesigned 2009 Z4 roadster at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. BMW North America, Inc. The 2009 BMW Z4 should arrive at U.S. dealers by next summer.

The BMW Z4 augmented reality app has been around for a few months now, produced by London based Inition, it is one of the richest AR apps out there, and is not just AR for the sake of it…

The origninal version was PC only but now we have mac and PC versions and they have introduced customisation for your car, you can change the colour but also put the roof up and down.

Limitations for me are the download side of things being a barrier to user engagement , I would have liked to have seen a lite flash version for quick play..

Where is the video export?

And we could have had augmented reality control if they had combined Boffswanas augmented reality steering wheel.
