Este será o segundo show da equipe com as novas bikes da PRO-X, que por sinal melhoraram muito o desempenho  e execução das manobras, facilitando para a evolução do esporte e assim  levando novas manobras para o show, tornando- o cada vez mais radical.

Riiiiiight! I’m back at it : The Tutorial! This time i choose to reproduce some old school SE Racing Bmx decals for my Floval Flyer, cause the actual ones you can purchase are pretty shitty , don’t even use the right font and most importantly didn’t match my old school frame. I’ve already watched Ebay for some NOS decals, but there is only reproductions or fake kits. So i’ve decided to make em’ myself and by the way, improve a lil’bit the grafics using the “chrome effect” they’ve used for the front head badge (It looks likes a killer to me!). I’m not pretending i’ve done better than the og but i think those little suckers were doing the job fo shizzzyyyyy!!!! -KoolFunc’88

Let’s start by the beginning, That font used by SE for the Floval Flyer (mid 90’s era) was unknown to me and i really cant find any similar ones. So I’ve started to find the best image of an original decal kit (mine was so tiny i can’t even hijack the outlines for some illustrator magic tricks)..So i had to remake the full font, and secretly i’d loved to. Sketch, tracing paper and a 1mm point pen will do it! After 2 or 3 layers i’m not that far from the original.

Then, digitalized the sheet and let’s work with computer+photoshop. Re-line up the whole font, letter by letter. Cut away the wing and put it on an other layer (the wing comes on the “F” for the right side and on the “R” for the left side of the frame).

As the og version got that dotted screen print effect on the wing, i’d created a dot pattern to apply as fill-in. Make a few selections and layers for colors changes.

I’d got the font right and now it was time to fill in the old school way, for that i’d used my graphic tablet, way easy than mouse, and re-create that so 80’s “Chrome effect” like you can do when airbrushing with masking paper.

Got the job already done, so let’s print it on some decal paper (the thinner you can pick). For that one i’d used to choose a laser printer paper (like the one for scale modelism). Cut the parts off with keeping a large amount of sticking surface around the grafics.

Now withdraw the sticker support paper. Of course ain’t no white base (it’s not screen print right here!), so we have to paint the white zone manually. A waterbased marker is perfect, but you can use any fluid white ink. No acrylic, No enamel! it ‘ll cover the glue. For me it’s the most boring part of the work, you have to be concentrated a lot but after that it was ended and you’ve just  to clean the frame surface and stick it up!!! 

I’m happy with the result of the operation and my Floval was kinda like rejuvanated!!! it looks like when i’ve bought it but with exclusive personalized decals….Of course you can apply that technique to a large amount of other sticky things! See ya for an other “Do it by yourself” adventure.
