Why oh why anyone would anyone give these two a show?? It’s going around the net that Bobby Brown and Kevin Federline became pals while being on Celebrity Fit Club together. And Bobby told a TMZ cameraman that he and Kev were talking about doing a show together. No word on what the show would be about, but I am sure it will be entertaining.

Galet men sant!

Everybody’s talking all this stuff about me
Why don’t they just let me live?
I don’t need commission, make my own decisions
That’s my prerogative

They say I’m crazy
I really don’t care
That’s my prerogative
They say I’m nasty
But I don’t give a damn
Getting girls is how I live
Some messy questions
Why am I so real?
But they don’t undersand me
I really don’t know the deal about her brother
Trying hard to make it right
Not long ago
Before I win this fight, sing

(Chorus:)
Everybody’s talking all this stuff about me
Why don’t they just let me live?
Tell me why I don’t need commission
Make my own decisions
That’s my prerogative
It’s my prerogative (it’s my prerogative)

It’s the way that I wanna live (it’s my prerogative)
I can do just what I feel (it’s my prerogative)
No one can tell me what to do (it’s my prerogative)
‘Cause what I’m doing I’m doing for you

Don’t get me wrong
I’m really not souped
Ego trips is not my thing
All these strange relationships really gets me down
I see nothing wrong in spreading myself around

(Chorus)

I can do what I wanna do (it’s my prerogative)
I can live my life (it’s my prerogative)
And I’m doing it just for you (it’s my prerogative)

Tell me, tell me why can’t I live my life
Live my life without all of the things
That people say oh

Yo, teddy kick it like this
Oh no no I can do what I wanna do
Me and you together together together together together

(Repeat chorus ad lib and fade)

It was only two seasons ago that Byron Scott won the NBA’s Coach of the Year Award and took the New Orleans Hornets to within a game of the Western Conference Finals, now he’s unemployed.

The Hornets started the season 3-6, and that was enough for the Hornets to send their coach to the curb.

Taking over will be general manager Jeff Bower, who has no head coaching experience, but spent time as an assistant with the Hornets. Bower is bringing in Tim Floyd as his top assistant. Floyd served as head coach for the Hornets in 2003-04, leading them to a 41-41 record and first round playoff loss.

This was the first firing of the young season, but more are probably on the way. The winless New Jersey Nets’ Lawrence Frank has to a be a presumable next target, he hasn’t fared well the past few seasons and isn’t giving the franchise much of a reason to keep him around.

Frank was actually Scott’s replacement in New Jersey, Scott led the Nets to two NBA Finals appearances before being fired in 2004. Despite success with the clipboard, he can’t catch a break. The moment something goes a little off the track with his teams, he’s shockingly sent packing.

Shocking was how the Hornets’ star point-guard Chris Paul took the news. Paul was also caught off-guard that the team didn’t even discuss the move with him before it hit the media.

It hasn’t been a pretty start for the Hornets, four of their six losses were by at least 16 points. Firing a coach after only nine games with a sub par record (after two prior very successful seasons) seems pretty ludicrous, but it’s also become the newest trend throughout the NBA.

This team isn’t going to be a championship contender, even with Paul, they’re just not an elite team. At best, they’re a sixth seed in the Western Conference.

That’s wasn’t Scott’s fault. He was able to get this team to overachieve.

When the Hornets won 56 games in ‘07-08, good graces were on their side.

Paul had an MVP candidate season, he’s continued to grow, but the rest of his cast has flatlined. David West is a solid number two option, but this season his scoring is down nearly six points per game (15.4 ppg), his rebounding is also down to 5.9 per night. He’s not performing like the All-Star he once was. The Hornets also were getting more than 16 points a night from a healthy Peja Stojakovic that season. He’s now down to 8.9 points this season and is coming to the end of his career, along with the return of his injury-prone self. Don’t forget about the career-year that Tyson Chandler had as well, averaging nearly 12 points and 12 rebounds as a clear beneficiary of Paul’s style of play.

That same year the Hornets had a lot of great production from their bench, which consisted of players like Jannero Pargo, Morris Peterson, Bobby Jackson and Bonzi Wells.

Pargo is now a Chicago Bull, Wells and Jackson are both out of the league and Peterson is 32 years-old and barely productive these days.

They just haven’t been the same.

Chandler struggled with injuries last season and then was traded to Oklahoma City. The trade was rescinded, he wound up back in New Orleans for the rest of season (talk about awkward) and was finally traded this summer for Emeka Okafor. Okafor may be a better player than Chandler, but his ability to fit as well as Chandler did during that 56-win season has yet to be seen.

The rest of their current supporting cast basically consists of Devin Brown, Bobby Brown, James Posey, Julian Wright, Hilton Armstrong and Darius Songaila. With exception to Devin Brown and Songaila, each one of these players are shooting less than 41 percent from the floor.

The Hornets have unrealistic expectations for their team. Last season they declined because of their talent, not their coach. The decline obviously is going to carryover into the following season, since most of the holes haven’t been filled.

Bower takes over the team he built, a team that is not designed to win more than 50 games anymore. Scott had to pay the price and lose his job without much of a losing streak to even show for, just a below average team with a superstar and a All-Star forward who is under-performing.

More than likely Scott will be coaching another NBA team by next season, he has a great resume and any team looking for an accomplished coach would be nuts to pass on him.

The inexperienced Bower takes over his own creation. The ball is solely in his court, and now he is going to be held completely accountable for the success of this team.

With losing, comes frustration, someone is going to be blamed and unfortunately for Scott, he took the first hit. Yesterday the Hornets did exactly the same thing as they did when it came to building a great team around Paul, they made the wrong move. As Scott gets ready to hit the golf course, Bower and the Hornets are about see reality kick in over the next few months.

My prerogative. Those two words evoke such a strong response in me. It takes me back to 1988 when times were simpler and the movie Rain Man was number one. It is also the title of a song that has a strange effect on me.
I can’t explain it.
For whatever reason, when Bobby Brown invites everyone to “get busy” at the song’s start, it is like a green light for me to start dancing. I don’t know if it is the steady beat of the synth drums or the dynamic lyrics where Mr. Brown made a hit whilst using the word “prerogative” in an R&B song — it makes me want to move.
The movements I am inclined to perform are similar to a bird without wings that is trying to fly. Other moves include gravity-defying slides on one foot to the left, then to the right and then of course back again. There is also lots of fist pumping and biting of my bottom lip. Though I have never been able to pull those moves together collectively in public, I fear that if I ever do, I may explode into a fiery dance-bird or be signed as a stage dancer for an 80’s tribute tour.
One thing I can assure you — you will never see this dance of mine performed. Unless of course you are hiding in my storage building early in the morning where I like to work out and listen to music — and sometimes dance.

Look how happy buddy looks So the last couple of posts have been about the kind of people to avoid.

Look how happy buddy looks

So the last couple of posts have been about the kind of people to avoid. People who suck out the life and fun of dating and leave you a spent shell of your former self. More accurately, people that are that way now. But, you know, the great thing about people, like wine, is that they change with time. They mellow, they smooth out, they become more stable. They often become more full-bodied as well, but that’s a post for another time.

As we all know, our world is very small. As such, we develop a sort of familial relationship with the people in our circle, with good deal of incest to go along with it. Keith used to date Sasha. Tara hooked up with Steve that time, Earl and Michelle had an on and off thing, etc. These people naturally develop reputations. This can be a good thing, because it allows you to pre-qualify people.

“Oh, yeah, Brad, he’s a stand-up dude. We worked at Mckinsey together and he’s really about his business.”

“Yup. Keisha? She’s good peoples. She seems sarcastic but she’s really cool.”

Awesome, right? Weeeeelllllll, ther’s of course a flip side.

“Jamal? Seriously? That dude is lame. Have you heard him talk?”

“Look dog, I saw you over there getting Christine’s number, and yeah, she’s cute and all, but I mean, dude, she knows a lot of Que’s, if you get my drift, dog. A LOOOOT of Que’s.”

Which can also be valuable. I mean, not only do you want to pre-approve potentially good matches, you want to weed out unqualified buyers, right? The problem here comes in the fact that once you are labeled as something, that’s what the general public perceives you as. And as someone who may be considering entering into a relationship with this person, well, You have to consider your own calculus. Is it worth the risk to deal with someone who had some issues in the past? Can people really change?

“And you can try to change, but that’s just the top layer

Man, you was who you was when you got here”

-Hov-

Well damn, that had an air of finality about it. Well, let’s see, can people be redeemed? Rehabbed? Made shiny and new? More specifically, what about these people?

The Whore

I mean, come on, we all know folks who both ARE whores, and WERE whores, male or female. And this is a sticky one. I mean, regardless of whether or not you’ve been celibate for three years, no one wants to be the guy that turned a “ho into a housewife.” I don’t know about you, but I wake up in cold sweats every once in a while after having a nightmare in which Too Short nonchalantly walks up to me and says “You a rest haven for hoes.” And all of a sudden kittens and ponies, and the girl robot from WALL-E appear an point and laugh at me. But there’s nowhere to escape their scorn! For men, I think this is an easier obstacle to overcome than women, since we’re assumed to be entitled to a whore phase. But what say you? Would you seriously date someone who got around? Would you constantly worry that you’ll unearth new skeletons? And frankly, if everything else about this person is as it should be, and assuming they’re disease free, does it matter?

The Cheater

Could have been once, could have been a hundred times. They say once a cheater, always a cheater. But is that true? What if you’re really all that person would ever need/want? Or is that just pie in the sky bullshit as he/she makes hotel reservations under a credit card you know nothing about and an assumed name?

The Gold Digger/Groupie

Every twitter male’s worst enemy, according to them, constantly trying to trap them for their 87 Civic and get free meals at Chipotle on their dime. But what if a woman (or man)’s stint as a gold-digger was a short lived period in their twenties of just seeing how far they could stretch the boundaries. Maybe they just happened to date an athlete, for all the right reasons. What if they just enjoyed the flashing lights for a while, fucked a couple famous people, and then moved on to real life? Can you hold that against someone?

The Player

Slightly different from the whore in that this is just the person who never commits. It might be the serial monogamist or the artful dodger, but either way, this person seems to always escape the noose of LTR-dom in the nick of time. Is this something you can forgive, or is there too much risk that you’ll be the next victim dropped off at the curb like so much recycling?

The Abuser/ The Abused

And this has been in the news lately obviously since the whole Riri/CB interview circuit. I mean, can this dude change? Would you trust him to? Or is he always one meaningless provocation away from slapping the dog shit out of some woman? And what about her? Is there a stigma to her being the victim of abuse? Do you treat her differently? Protect her more? Or not get involved because you fear there may be emotional undercurrents there that you can’t deal with? What about the victims of sexual violence. I forget the statistic, but the number of women who are raped every year is staggering. If you know a woman has been through that, does it change how you look at her?

The Broke/Trifling/Shiftless

Can someone get their shit together? Well, sure we know they can. But what if someone has recently emerged from brokedom or triflingness? Is there a seasoning requirement, liek flipping a house? What do you need to see to know they won’t backslide?

So what do you do? Have you dated someone who has been reformed? Or have you rejected someone who may have been reformed because their past scared you off? Discuss.

I love it when the Raptors surprise me, even if it does make losses like last Friday’s in Memphis all the more difficult. Chris Bosh and the boys shocked the world tonight in The Big Easy, blowing out Chris Paul and the Hornets 107-90 behind a second half three-point barrage and some rare D.

This one was a thing of beauty — the Raptors got at ‘em on the glass (a 51-41 edge) and forced every other Hornet than Paul to beat them. CP3 got his to the tune of 21 and 18 assists, but Bobby Brown and David West were the only others in double figures (16 and 14). Aside from Paul, no Hornet had more than one assist.

Chris Bosh was again the man offensively for the Raptors, going a perfect 9-of-9 and finishing with 27 points and seven boards. Jose Calderon shook his early-season blues with a nice little 16 and eight (with no turnovers) on 6-of-11 and Hedo Turkoglu chipped in 16 of his own. Toronto outscored the Hornets 34-14 in the decisive third quarter, making eight of their 14 total threes in the frame.

So, we’re back on track in Raptorland. Those worries after a pair of embarrassing losses last weekend? Out the window, my friend. Well, at least for one night. The Raps look to make it three in a row tomorrow night in Dallas, where dreams have historically gone to die for this team. Let’s make this the year that changes.

Back in October, I wrote a post about this Supernatural music video and how it reminded me of Whitney Houston. In the original post, I said that I couldn’t find a clip of Kathy Griffin’s impression of how Whitney Houston said Bobby’s name on the show Being Bobby Brown. Anyway, the reason why I’m updating the original is the fact that I finally found a clip of Kathy Griffin doing her impression of Whitney Houston. That part is around 9 minutes and 30 seconds in. Anyway, enjoy.

Everyone seems to make lists of everything, so I’d thought I would share a list of my 24 favorite artists. They are in no particular order in terms of favorites, just a collection of the music I enjoy listening to. You might ask how was this picture so conveniently put together? Well I had made this image a while back using Photoshop for my Myspace page and have kept the image on file ever since, in case I would want to use it again as in this case for the blog. So take a peep at the album covers, you just might find your favorite artist or album on here!
