Tattoos have become a craze among young people today. But does the Bible have anything to say about the subject? Most would say no, but then, they would be wrong! God’s word plainly condemns such practices in Lev. 19:28, which reads, “Ye shall not…print [tatoo] any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”

A true Christian attitude is one of giving and service. It should demonstrate humility and modesty. A Christian should not appear strange or outlandish in attire. It fact, there are warnings against such attitudes and rebellion.

“Body art” and tattoos are generally motivated by vanity, sexual lust and rebellion; attitudes condemned throughout the Bible. Even if someone says he or she isn’t doing it for those reasons, we should avoid all “appearance of evil” (I Thess. 5:22).

Christians are told by God to be a light to this world (Matt. 5:13-16), and their body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. They must glorify God with it. God does not want graffiti on His temple (I Cor. 6:19-20). We must ensure that our appearance is clean, wholesome and modest. It must be based on God’s law.

Con Morgan Capasso che ne ha realizzato le immagini e la Pittrice Micaela Barbarossa che ha realizzato gli artwork sulle modelle Mia Rubin Mura e Sonia Marchitiello, il Calendario 2010 ”Sotto la pelle/Underskin” è un’interessante alternativa ai tradizionali sexy calendari di fine anno, con la bellezza che sposa la particolarità del body painting.

Durante le inaugurazioni per dare maggior risalto all’evento saranno presentate perfomace live di vario tipo, sia musicali che teatrali, o addiritura dimostrazioni dal vivo di body painting pittura ed altro.

Houve um tempo em que o único lugar onde se podia encontrar uma mulher tatuada era em Freak Show, circos ou feiras exóticas. Tatuagens eram coisas de tribos indígenas, marinheiros e motociclistas rebeldes e durões.

Nos dias atuais, tornou-se comum ver garotas com desenhos estampados pelo corpo e alguns piercings como adornos. Garotas tatuadas, de cabelos coloridos não chocam mais a pessoas que vivem neste mundo moderno. Esse estilo de vida acabou gerando uma subcultura formada por amantes da body art. Existem sites e culto a garotas mistura a doçura de uma Lolita de Nabokov com o charme e glamour das pin-ups.

No final do século XIX e durante metade do século XX, as tatuagens eram raras e pagava-se para ver pessoas tatuadas. Os circos foram os principais expoentes para os amantes da body art. Foi através deles que mulheres como Jean Furella e Betty Broadbent tornaram-se estrelas das feiras freaks.

Jean Furella como A Mulher Barbada, era uma das principais atrações no circo onde trabalhava, até que ela se apaixonou por um homem que não se sentia muito confortável com a uma mulher que tinha mais pelo nos rosto que ele. Não demorou muito para que
Furella raspasse toda a barba e tatuou todo corpo, continuando assim com a sua carreira no circo.

Betty Broadbent é conhecida como o freak mais belas do mundo. Foi o tatuador Jack Red Cloud que apresentou a body art para Betty que logo se apaixonou. Ela teve mais de 350 desenhos espalhados pelo corpo, muitos deles feitos por importantes tatuadores da década de 30, ela foi a principal atração New York World’s Fair em 1939. Betty afastou-se do show business em 1967 e tornou-se tatuadora profissional.

“Foram os marinheiros ingleses, por meio do contato com os polinésios que difundiram essa prática pelo mundo. A reprodução de feras do mar, caveiras e embarcações demonstravam as aventuras desses homens que se lançavam pelo mar. Sendo os mesmos sujeitos de pouca condição financeira ou influência social, fizeram da tatuagem algo popular entre os guetos, prostíbulos e tavernas freqüentadas pela “escória”, ou seja, desocupados, lutadores de rua, criminosos e prostitutas. “* (Historia da Tatuagem)

Foi a partir da déecada de 70 que a tatuagem ganhou maior populiridade com a cultura pop que sugia na Califórnia naquela época, graças ao cinema,  ao rock n’ roll e ao espírito de rebeldia daquele período.” Logo vieram os surfistas e a  moda de braços decorados com imagens estilizadas no estilo oriental, como dragões e serpentes, por exemplo. “Na década de 80, foi a vez dos tigres e das águias. Desde então, a tatuagem teve um aumento tão grande de popularidade que o número de estúdios subiu de cerca de 300 para mais de 4.000 nos últimos 20 anos, nos Estados Unidos.“(Amana Rodrigues).

Hoje em dia  a tatuagem permanece como um símbolo de forma de expressão individual de arte e estética do corpo. O que era considerado freak no início do século passado, tornou-se um estilo de vida.

Arte moderno es un término que se opone al denominado arte académico, el cual representaría la tradición; mientras que el arte moderno representaría la experimentación.

-Expresionismo abstracto (1940): Movimiento pictórico contemporáneo que surge en EEUU dentro de la abstracción, en concreto, las tendencias informalistas y matéricas posteriores a la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

-Informalismo (Mediado de los 40): Movimiento artístico que surgió en Europa a mediados de la década del 40, como respuesta al cubismo y al abstraccionismo geométrico. En el lenguaje informalista priman los materiales como elementos fundamentales de la obra.

-Tachismo (década de 1940 y 1950): Estilo de pintura en el que priman los brochazos o las manchas de color.

-Art brut o arte marginal (1945): Arte creado por gentes ajenas al mundo artístico sin una formación académica. Sirvió a aquellos artistas al margen de la sociedad para expresar sus inquietudes y sentimientos.

-Pintura matérica (finales de los 40 y principios de los 50): Tendencia del informalismo que se desarrolla en Europa hacia finales de los años cuarenta y principios de los cincuenta. Su característica principal es ser una pintura abstracta que se realiza con materias diversas a las tradicionales, incluyendo en el cuadro arena, madera…

-Abstracción postpictórica (década de los 60): Movimiento artístico de la década de los años 60. Reaccionó contra el expresionismo abstracto produciendo composiciones grandes, frías, impersonales y de colores ordenados.

-Arte Óptico (1958): Movimiento pictórico nacido en Estados Unidos. Es una corriente abstracta basada en la composición pictórica de fenómenos puramente ópticos, sensaciones de movimiento en una superficie bidimensional, engañando al ojo humano mediante ilusiones ópticas.

-Arte cinético (1954): Arte contemporáneo creado para producir una impresión de movimiento.

 -Nuevo realismo (1960): Movimiento artístico que tomaba para sus obras imágenes del mundo.

 -Pop art (1954): Movimiento artístico que desafió  la tradición afirmando que el empleo de imágenes de la cultura popular tomadas de los medios de comunicación también puede estar entre las bellas artes. 

-Minimalismo (1960): El minimalismo es una corriente estética derivada de la reacción al pop art.  Los creadores minimalistas reducen al máximo los elementos propios del arte.

-Hiperrealismo (finales de los 60): tendencia radical de la pintura realista surgida en Estados Unidos que propone reproducir la realidad con más fidelidad y objetividad que la fotografía. A veces se confunde con el Foto realismo pero este es menos radica radical.

-Happening (1950): Manifestación artística, frecuentemente multidisciplinaria, caracterizada por la participación de los espectadores.

-Performance (años 60): práctica artística que consiste en “representar” o llevar a cabo (generalmente ante un público y en directo) una obra de arte, es decir, considerar simplemente el evento que constituye esta representación como una creación en sí misma.

-Instalación (1970): Arte contemporáneo que incorpora cualquier medio para crear una experiencia visceral o conceptual en un ambiente determinado. Los artistas de instalaciones por lo general utilizan directamente el espacio de las galerías de arte.

-Arte conceptual (finales de los 70):  Corriente artística caracterizada por el predominio de los elementos conceptuales sobre los puramente formales. Intenta evitar el estímulo óptico a favor de los procesos intelectuales que el público es invitado a compartir con el artista.

-Arte povera o arte pobre (1967):  corriente estética aparecida en Turín como reacción frente al arte tradicional. El arte povera se vale de objetos del desecho o sin valor real ni artístico, triviales y ajenos a denominaciones como bello, hermoso o exquisito.

-Body Art (finales de los 60): El artista investiga su propio cuerpo como materia de arte y medio expresivo. La obra de estos artistas trata temas como la violencia, la autoagresión, la sexualidad, el exhibicionismo o la resistencia corporal a fenómenos físicos.

-Land Art (Década de los 60): El principio fundamental es alterar, con un sentido artístico, el paisaje, para producir el máximo de efectos y sensaciones al observador.

-Arte ambiental (1960): Arte que trata de temas ecológicos o el medio ambiete natural

Here is the album review I promised on my twitter yesterday!  Before I start, once again I want to thank you all for supporting my blog, both my music reviews and my personal entries.  I really appreciate all the views and I hope that you’ll keep it locked here because I ain’t stoppin’! Thankyou.

You already know what I think of Russian Roulette, and the other 3 songs we’ve heard already from Rated R.  Generally, they portray a darker, edgier side to Rihanna, both in the production (deeper, more menacing beats) and lyrical content that includes a bit of cursing, a lot of swagger and references to pain, trials and tribulations.  ”Russian Roulette”, “Wait Your Turn” and “Hard” are more or less indicative of the album as a whole.  In contrast to her previous smash Good Girl Gone Bad, it’s a lot less uptempo.  The songs are mainly midtempos and ballads, which may alienate a lot of fans who want her faster, danceable material (though “Hard” and “Rude Boy” cater to these needs, and do so well with swagger lyrics – the latter seeing Rihanna come on to a ‘rude boy’ as if she were the guy who is gonna “put it on you”).  However, the slower material allows for two major things: one, to prove that Rihanna can actually sing.  Okay, she’s no Beyoncé, but she holds her own a lot better than many people might expect.  ”Russian Roulette” and closing standout “The Last Song” don’t employ lots of vocal runs, but they emphasise strong, clear vocals that prove Rihanna’s got a voice as well as a body – btw. the artwork for this era is immense! – and also go well with the more emotionally searching and vulnerable material.  Two, it allows for Rihanna to delve into her pain, and although it’s never made explicit that she’s referencing her love, abuse and love lost with Chris Brown, songs such as “Stupid In Love” and the epic “Cold Case Love” immediately bring that whole affair to mind.

Not every song is concerned with love lost.  ”Te Amo” is about a girl who’s infatuated with Rihanna, and its undulating beats have been beefed up slightly on the album version to make it more hypnotic and possibly (along with “Rude Boy”) the song that would have slotted in nicely on Good Girl Gone Bad.  ”Rockstar 101″ is backed up by Slash’s guitar work and like “Hard” and “Wait Your Turn”, it demonstrates Rihanna’s confidence in herself – something she perhaps wants to emphasise.  She is fierce!  However, compared to some of the other tracks, “Rockstar 101″ falls somewhat flat, as it doesn’t have as much depth as the emotionally-charged midtempos, nor does it ring as true as the harder-knocking songs.  It does demonstrate that Rihanna is not an urban artist – she’s a pop singer who encompasses a range of music. On this album, she combines elements of rock, pop, R&B and melds them together to create a dark album that works for the most part.  And credit goes to her for trying to improve on each album – like Good Girl Gone Bad, the amount of filler on the disc is fairly minimal (in contrast to her first two records) and she’s tried to do something different that has evolved as she has as a person.  So I must applaud that.

A couple of the ballads such as “Stupid In Love” and “Photographs” (which benefits from will.i.am’s synthed beats that kick in midway) are perfectly solid, but pale in comparison to the best tracks.  These are, in a nutshell, first single “Russian Roulette”, “Fire Bomb”, “G4L”, “Cold Case Love” and “The Last Song”.  These all work because Rihanna is putting herself out there vocally and emotionally.  The producers do a fantastic job (praise must go in particular to Justin Timberlake and The Ys’ work on “Cold Case Love”, which shows a gradual building of beatboxing, standard beats, guitars and strings to an epic climax that fades out by itself and underline Rihanna’s pain at a love misfired – “Release me now ’cause I did my time”) more or less throughout, but Rihanna herself carries the songs.  ”Fire Bomb” has been compared to something by Kelly Clarkson, but in my opinion it knocks much harder and is a compelling contrast to expectations – most people would expect a club banger from the title, when in fact it’s a slow pop/rock ballad which essentially says “if I’m going down in flames, you’re coming with me”.  ”G4L” is one of the darkest songs which shows Rihanna pledging to be “down 4 life”, ride or die until the end.  The off-key tweaks at the beginning signal something mysterious, and the lyric “I lick the gun when I’m done ’cause I know that revenge is sweet” is one of the best opening salvos I can remember.  The track brings to mind the tiny gun tattoos on the sides of Rihanna’s breasts, demonstrating that even if she may be a sweet person on the surface, she’s also a strong and determined one – her attitude is reflected in her music as much as her body art.

“The Last Song” was the track that stood out to me most from listening to the 30-second snippets, and it doesn’t disappoint – it’s a perfect closer to the album, not only in name but in texture also.  It employs a soaring guitar and heartwrenching lyrics, chronicling the realisation of a breakup.  ”The sad song ends up being the last song you’ll ever hear.”  Rihanna’s spare vocals almost seem to cry the lyrics throughout the track, and the buildup throughout the song until near the end where all the instruments fade out is done perfectly.  Rihanna said that she wanted Lil’ Wayne and Kings Of Leon to like her album, demonstrating her desired blend of urban and rock. The album is definitely a mélange of styles, but apart from “Hard”, I don’t see enough hip-hop for Weezy to connect with, and the rock elements are nowhere near as indie-pop as Kings Of Leon.  However, the soaring guitars provide something edgier and deeper within the context of a pop album, and the hard-hitting beats and synths knock plenty – the combination of which provide something quite extraordinary and special within itself.  Rihanna should be proud of this record.

Rated R has a focused aggression to it that rings truer than it did on Good Girl Gone Bad. Despite the lack of uptempo smashes, it’s a fantastic record that hopefully will have as much repeat-play value as her previous record.  Whether it’s because of her personal struggles, maturity as a young woman or desire to experiment musically (probably a combination of all three), Rated R shows growth.  I pray that her label doesn’t re-release the album, since it’s perfect as it is and comes across as something sincere, rather than designed to make money as a light pop confection.  Why I’m impressed with Rated R, beyond the simple fact that most of the songs are solid or better, is because it’s cohesive.  All the songs work together to make the album more than the sum of its parts.  It has a big emotional impact, and it sets a musical mood (dark, edgy and yet heartfelt) that doesn’t let up throughout – in her own words, from “Hard”, “that Rihanna rain/reign”.  I didn’t know if she had it in her to best Good Girl Gone Bad, but even if it doesn’t have as many number 1 smashes and addictive beats, Rated R is a musical step forward that I personally value that little bit more.

I’ve been busy playing Modern Warfare 2 for about 5 days straight, but that’s a perfectly acceptable excuse for not updating this blog.  As usual, these are either ending very soon or listed recently.  All breast paintings!

Inggris kehilangan lebih dari 200 tentaranya di Afghanistan sejak tahun 2001, terutama dalam setahun terakhir. Belum termasuk yang kembali dalam keadaan cacat dan terluka. Hal itu membuat sedih Shaun Clark, seorang mantan tentara Inggris. Maka dia pun mentato 223 nama tentara Inggris yang gugur di Afghanistan pada tubuhnya.

Menurut Clark, mantan anggota Batalion ke-8 Resimen Infantri Ringan dari tahun 1989 to 1996, dengan mencantumkan nama 223 tentara yang wafat itu dia akan tetap mengenang mereka sepanjang hidupnya. Bukan hanya dia, tapi keluarganya pun akan tetap mengenal para tentara tersebut.

Butuh waktu empat jam bagi artis tato Kevin Kent, untuk menuliskan 223 nama di tubuh pria berusia 43 tahun itu. Sebelum jarum alat tato menoreh kulit Clark, Rabu (11/11), dilakukan upacara mengheningkan cipta dulu selama 2 menit.

“Saya rela kesakitan selama beberapa hari jika saya bisa membuat para anak muda ini tahu bahwa orang peduli dengan yang mereka lakukan di sana, dan dapat mengumpulkan dana bagi mereka yang pulang dalam keadaan terluka,” kata ayah dua anak ini.

Pria asal Doncaster ini melanjutkan, pada awalnya istrinya menentang rencana itu. “Pada mulanya keluarga saya mengira saya gila dengan memiliki rencana ini. Namun mereka sedakrang mengerti, dan istri saya mendukung saya sepenuhnya,” katanya.

Clark berharap dapat mengumpulkan 500 poundsterling yang akan disumbangkan ke lambaga amal Help for Heroes. “Saya sangat ingin berbuat sesuatu untuk mengumpulkan uang bagi pahlawan yang membutuhkan bantuan, dan untuk menghormati mereka yang gugur. Tubuh saya akan menjadi tugu peringatan bagi mereka selama saya hidup,” katanya.
