It was love at first smell. The moment I sprayed on The Body Shop’s Neroli Jasmin on my wrist

It was love at first smell. The moment I sprayed on The Body Shop’s Neroli Jasmin on my wrist some time in October, I knew this was my kind of scent. But of course, there were money issues. So I told myself that the minute I get the money for this, and if it goes on sale, I will definitely buy it. Last Monday was my lucky day. It was on sale at around 50% off. It was now just around Php600. Sweet! So I promptly whipped out my credit card from my wallet and off I charged. I love it, love it, love it, especially the pretty pouch it came with! The only drawback? The pouch, which I thought was made from natural fibers, upon closer inspection of the label, is made of 100% polyester.

Other toiletries in my lucky-to-have list

I got a hand-me-down Peppermint Leg Gel from my mom. It was given to her last year by my brother’s ex-girlfriend, and it’s hardly used, so yey to me! I’ve been using it for almost a week now after my evening shower and every time I slather it on, my feet feel refreshed and revived!

I bought a bottle of All Organics Clean Rinse from Sesou at Trinoma (1st Floor, near National Bookstore), a one-stop kiosk of organic, natural, and Philippine-made toiletries and house cleaning products, last Monday because of its many uses: hand sanitizer, facial cleanser, hygienic wash, and many more–All for a mere Php95!

I figured that this will be great for traveling. When you need to clean your hands and face (or any other body part) and there’s no restroom around, you can just do what you have to do on the go. I’m excited to use this on my upcoming trip to Bohol.

Well, actually, I’ve already given this a test run yesterday when I needed to “wash” my face quick. I just sprayed the stuff on my face, wiped it dry with a cotton ball, and put on my makeup. It was refreshing and it lived up to it’s claim of a clean rinse: When I touched my face, it really felt squeaky clean!

I also bought deodorant from All Organics because I believe it’s safer to use than the stuff we buy at supermarkets. I’ve been looking for natural deodorant for months now and I’m so happy to have chanced upon this practical find! I used this for the first time yesterday and I totally love the lemongrass smell.

I bought some other things from Sesou but I haven’t used them yet. Will blog again about it when I do. =)

I should probably introduce myself first. My name is Venus. No that’s not my real name, but it

I should probably introduce myself first. My name is Venus. No that’s not my real name, but it was the only feminine goddess I could think of at the last minute. I’m 23, fresh out of college. I’m short, dumpy and I have small hands, and feet. I’m female, raised in the Pacific Northwest. However, I wasn’t raised female, or at least very feminine. Sure I had a few dresses and wanted to do girly things, but all in all, I wasn’t what one could describe as feminine.

I liked to be dirty, to play around in the mud. To be one of the guys and play rough. I wore pants more than dresses. I never had anything tight. I was never careful or dainty. I was… well am.. unbalanced at most things. Until I was 12, my hair was short… very short, and even now I see that as a detriment to the fact that I have no idea how to do my hair.

But that’s all going to change.

I promised someone, and myself, that I was going to change. And I’m going to chronicle that change, everyday from December 21st of 2009 to the same day of 2010.

At times there will be cursing, swearing, whining, and things that are down right horrible. Much will come with a TMI warning attached, but I can’t guarantee everything. There will also be insight into my life and history lessons on who I was and perhaps the former definitions of being a female. Also reviews and other things about being female. Hopefully this will be a fun way to chronicle my change from a tomboy into a beautiful lady.

Author : HARDHINI, WAHYU

This tudy is basically an analysis of the utterances of Body Care advertisements. In this study, the writer looks for the associative items or phrases of the utterances and finds both their cognitive and associative meanings in order to reveal the interpretation meanings of the utterances. This study is descriptive research because its purpose wasn?t to prove any hypotesis. Rather, it was to describes cognitive and associative meanings. The main instrument is the writer herself. The source of data was taken from the utterances of Body Care advertisements in commercial TV that are using Bahasa Indonesia. The writer takes some of existing data of the utterance from four television stations. They are RCTI, SCTV, Indosiar and Anteve. For her analysis, first she organizes the utterances by giving numbers. Next, she proceeds to identifying the cognitive and associative meanings. The writer can identify the interpretationmeanings of the utterances through the cognitive and associative meanings. Finally, the writer of this study concludes that in oeder to understand the speaker and interlocutor should understand the two types of meanings revealed in the asssociative lexical items, which are the cognitive and associative meanings of the associative lexical.

Bath Therapy dee-lish Gingerbread 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath, and Shampoo If you’re like me

Bath Therapy dee-lish Gingerbread 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath, and Shampoo

If you’re like me and LOVE foaming hand soap you’re sure to have a foaming soap pump dispenser around (yes, it’s different than other pumps). You can take any kind of body wash or liquid soap, water it down and put it in this dispenser and it will come out as foam (see Foaming Hand Soap). Just make sure you dilute it about 3 parts soap to 7 parts water, about 1/4 soap and the rest water. Mix it up well, warmer water works best for this. Each dispenser is different so you may have to try it out and add more water.

Recently I brought home some of our new Dee-Lish Holiday Scent 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo to try out, and I just love the scent, Gingerbread! Suddenly I got the bright idea to mix up some for foaming hand soap in the house! I tried it and it’s so great. It really helps add a little holiday cheer! Every time somebody washes their hands the smell of fresh gingerbread radiates through the room. So much fun! The Bath Therapy Dee-Lish Holiday Scents are really great as a 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo, and also come in Apple Pie scent, and Orange Truffle! You could have a different scent for each sink in the house! They’re also on sale on our new website right now for just $3.99 for a 500 mL bottle. Check it out, and happy holidays!

I suppose that turning vegetarian is the natural offshoot of using organic toiletries and products.

I suppose that turning vegetarian is the natural offshoot of using organic toiletries and products. It’s a common entry point for a total organic lifestyle. With the desire to use eco-friendly products for the skin comes the desire to use healthy and chemical-free food. Food, after all, is something that you ingest for nourishment. The quality of your health heavily depends on the quality of your food.

I’ve done my best to shun processed meats. That’s quite easy. I just think of all the preservatives in each product and I shudder. What I am having trouble with, I must confess, is doing away with beef (I really love Bubble Tea’s burgers) and chicken (I love, love, love cooking with chicken). Should I also shun sea treasures such as milkfish (or bangus, in my native language), shrimps, lobsters, tuna–a few of my favorites–in favor of vegetables, fruits and nuts?

I of course eat more veggies and fruits than meats. And this is supposed to be good. But being vegetarian, as I often read from people’s blogs these days, is supposedly better. But before I turn vegetarian, I have to do some thinking first, to examine the why of my what.

Based from what I’ve been reading from the Internet, the two main reasons for going vegetarian (aside from health reasons) seems to be that:

1) It is one way of reducing your carbon footprint since feeding and growing animals for meat seems to rack up the world’s carbon count.

2) Being kind to animals means not eating them. The living conditions of a chicken grown for food, for example, involves being cramped into a teeny-weeny cage and not being allowed to walk freely on land. Its sole purpose is to lay eggs and to be eventual meat on a plate.

It seems like the issue points to the need for responsible farming. Of course the goal of businesses is to make profit. It’s a business, after all. But as members of society, I suppose earning money entails a certain degree of responsibility to the environment.

And then there’s also the issue of overpopulation, which is why businesses are scrambling to produce as many meats at the fastest time possible. The demand is just so big and vegetarianism, I suppose, lowers this demand. And that is well and good. But that’s just one part of the solution. The other part calls for the need for, as I’ve mentioned eariler, responsible farming and population control. I hope we will not forget these related issues.

I must think about these things some more before I turn vegetarian. That, and because I need more time to be psychologically prepared to alter my lifestyle significantly. Pardon me if this is taking a bit long.

My apologies, loyal readers, for slacking lately in my posting. Like most people, I’m finding less and less time to complete all the things I need to get done. Holiday get togethers and increased work hours mean less time to blog about beauty. Add a little illness and a blown transmission, and I have just not been as on top of things as I would like.

Obviously my past couple of weeks have been bumpy, but in all of the stress and catastophre I have been pleasantly surprised by a body wash and lotion duo that I bought recently, simply because they were the first that I saw when I went to the drugstore.

Johnson’s Body Care Melt Away Stress Lavender and Chamomile Relaxing Body Wash and Lotion both come in a pleasant light purple bottle and are lightly perfumed with a lavender scent. The body wash is creamy and moisturizing and the lotion absorbs quickly and leaves skin silky. Every night I rub some on my feet right before bed, and maybe it’s all in my head, but I really do feel the stress melt away.

Thank goodness for simple pleasures.

Hi Everyone! I’m Kim, and I’m the Brand Manager for Belcam’s Beauty Tools division. Ryan has very graciously allowed me to do a guest post today (read: I badgered him mercilessly until he finally shouted “FINE!”).

Moving right along… It’s about the time of year when we’re thinking about holiday gift giving, or more precisely, we’re wondering how it’s already Thanksgiving – and stressing about how we still have people to buy for and no idea what to get them.

So, I thought that making a list of beauty tool suggestions would be in keeping with the holiday spirit of giving and helping others. And, truthfully, I really wanted to have a list named “Kim’s Holiday Picks”. I’m convinced that Ryan is secretly thinking I’m an egomaniac for doing this, but his gift to me is to keep quiet.

Anyway, here is this list – I hope it helps you in your search for the perfect high quality (and affordable) gift of beauty for everyone on your list!

Kim’s Holiday Picks!

• For the Sophisticated Woman on your List
Aero Tweeze Slant Tip Tweezers These tweezers are made in Italy of high quality stainless steel and are available in 4 fun colors (purple is our best seller). The tips are ultra-fine and will tweeze even the shortest, finest hair the first time. No more struggling, no more slipping and no more cutting your eyebrow hair at the skin line with sharp tweezer tips… leaving that irritating and unsightly black “dot” of unreachable hair. If you’re wondering why anyone in their right mind would pay $18.99 for tweezers, you owe it to yourself to buy these. You’ll love them, your friends will love them and you’ll never need to ask yourself that nagging question again!

• For that Special Girl (who will lose the $18.99 tweezers and you’ll hold it against her forever)
Fiesta Tweezers – Slant Tip These tweezers are also made in Italy of stainless steel. They are available in 4 shimmering colors (the most popular, again, is purple). The tips are very good for eyebrows and general tweezing and their quality is far superior to the mass/retail tweezers you see from the “big boys”. At $6.50, they’re also super-affordable and perfect for teenage girls or slightly flaky friends who tend to lose things.

• For the Manly Man
Do NOT be misled by the Mustache part. These scissors are made in Italy (noticing a trend?) and feature thin, precise tips and a smooth cutting action. While they’re great for mustaches and beards, and don’t rely on batteries or electricity, they are also perfect for nose hair, ear hair and trimming any “mad scientist” eyebrows that tend to crop up. Oh, and they’re ideal for evening out sideburns or trimming any other unwanted body hair (read: they’ll get a LOT of use!).

They have a slight wave-design and a high end brushed finish. Ideal for both toenails and fingernails, any guy would be proud to pull these out of his bathroom drawer. And the best part is that the super-sharp blades cut cleanly and leave nails smooth and burr-free. These clippers even boast a removable clipping catcher so you’re not accidentally impaling your poor, bare foot in the middle of the night on a razor sharp clipping that wasn’t picked up from the bathroom floor! I’m not pointing any fingers here, but some men just let those toenails fly, so the catcher is a good idea.

While shopping the local WalMart I came across a special deal of two products for one price, reasonably affordable for $5.00 plus tax of course. I knew I was soon to run out of the other like product I was using so I bought the Olay body quench two-pack set. This particular product features active hydration with green tea & vitamin complex for normal to dry skin. My skin is normal, so this was my choice over either for oily skin or for normal to dry skin.

I only got to try the Olay body quench body mousse a couple of times before my teen found it and ask to use it, since there were two products, so I shared. I did however; enjoy the feeling of the Olay body quench body mousse at those times. So, as of now I am using my half of the two-set Olay body quench products, which is the Olay body quench body lotion. These Olay products are part of the advanced body care system and they work quite well.

(insert fanfare here)

Our hectic lifestyles rarely give us time out and none more so than at Christmas! What presents to buy for who, where to go for Christmas Day, how much food to get in. Decisions, decisions!

The easy option for pressies has always been cheap smellies. Lotions and potions that seem to last all year and mostly ones you didn’t want. All gathering dust at the back of the cupboard or destined to be passed on to someone else next year.

Wouldn’t you rather give or receive presents that will be loved and appreciated and that will take the stress out of choosing too? Even better, something you can add to your own Christmas list and that’s eco-friendly too. Love Eco has the answer.

Of course, everything at Love Eco is eco-friendly and adorable and the new range from Figs & Rouge is no exception. A wonderful range of natural and organic body care that relies on nourishing botanicals from the traditional English garden. Take a step back in time to simple, more romantic days and take care of your skin the natural way. The entire range is completely natural and organic and is free from parabens, sulphates, synthetic colours, fragrances and all things nasty so you can truly relax. Its vintage-inspired gift boxes make Figs & Rouge body care a perfect present too if you can bare to part with it.

And, if you can’t? Then let Figs & Rouge take the strain away. Pop the Christmas dinner in the oven and slope away for a relaxing soak. Pour calming Rose Geranium Bath Soak into cascading waters to release a stunning vintage and botanical garden aroma. Then bathe in this fragrant bath soak to help cultivate your skins natural moisture. Lock all the goodness in by massaging your rejuvenated skin with Rose Geranium Body Lotion and you’ll be ready to face the hectic Christmas festivities.
And if you venture out on a cold Winter walk after dinner, you can count on the Rose Geranium Lip Balm to protect you from the elements too.

So, for Christmas gifts that will be loved by all, our Figs & Rouge body care range is a must and you can bet they won’t end up at the back of a cupboard. They’re a great self-indulgent treat too!

The glamorous Figs and Rouge body care range is available at www.love-eco.co.uk from just £3.95.

The Best Hydrating Moistuirzers for Your Skin Type From oils to lotions, foams to butters, you certa

The Best Hydrating Moistuirzers for Your Skin Type

From oils to lotions, foams to butters, you certainly have your choice when it comes to hydrating moisturizers your body. But don’t fall in love with just one type. Just like the weather and seasons change, the type of moisturizer you use on your body should change, too. Even if it’s just because you are no longer in love with the smell of Mango’s!

Here are the three most popular types of hydrating moisturizers and what’s great about each of them.

Body Butter

Body Butters are fantastic for intense, long lasting moisture. These are perfect for the long cold winter when skin is prone to dehydration. Formulated to be the thickest moisturizer, the consistency does seem almost butter-like. Most body butters will last up to 24 hours, making them great for areas of your body where you won’t be able to reapply on a regular basis during the day. They are also great for extra dry areas of your body such as your feet, knees and elbows.

Lotions

Who doesn’t have a cabinet full of lotions? Lotions are by far the most popular moisturizer because of the ease of application. Usually dispensed with a pump or in a squeeze tube, they are the perfect companion on your desktop, by your sink and if you’re anything like me, in your car. Because we wash our hands frequently during the day, lotion is usually what we pick when our hands feel dry.

Oils and Oil Mists

When you put oil on your skin, you feel instantly pampered. Oils are a great multi-use beauty product. Use it in your bath to soften your skin, or apply right when you get out of the shower to your damp skin. Oils soak in when applied to damp skin leaving you feel moisturized and smelling great. While oils can be a bit pricier than lotions, the bottle will last much longer. A little goes a long way; a few drops for an entire leg.
