I finished my last final yesterday!!! Hooray! It’s over, at least for a month. So happy it’s over. I am exhausted. I think I may be sick. I can not stop sneezing. I’m buying some furniture today. A vanity- you know those really feminine pieces of furniture where you sit down as a dresser, with a mirror attached. Sort of like this.

The one I am intending to buy is a lighter color wood, and in all honesty sort of is a different style, but I’ll take pictures of it later. I just wanted to give an idea.

I need to take some herbal supplements to ward off this cold.

One more lotion down the drain. This one is Beyond Belief Nourishing Lotion with grape seed extract. I bought this lotion in a weak moment. I didn’t need it but I was in a Sally’ s Beauty Shop with a friend. Of course we had dry hands and we just had to try some. Add a very good salesperson and a very good sale and we were hooked. One tip I would give you is “Never have dry hands when you go into a store that sells lotion, it will get you every time.”

I do have to say that it was a good purchase even if I wasn’t needing it. It felt really good on my hands and when they were dry and cracked it gave me some relief. It isn’t natural. It has all kinds of ingredients that I can’t understand and probably don’t want to know what they are. But this lotion did the trick and I would buy it again but…..not until I have no more lotion left.

The texture of lotion is very smooth and thick enough. It’s good with the hot climate in my country. It does absorb very quickly and doesn’t leave greasy feeling on my skin. It moistures well and smell so good. I just love it! I have been trying to make my own recipe and came out with this recipe. I have more lotion recipes to write but I am very busy now. I love what I did. If someone read this, you can try it and let me know how do you feel about it? It may not be good in a cold weather since I think you may need more moisture and oil in the recipe.

In my search to find healthier, greener, natural lotions and other body products, Weleda has time and time again stood out among the competition for their unwavering use of organic and even biodynamic (a step beyond organic) ingredients.

Second, the ingredients are so pure and beneficial and the lotion is so deeply hydrating that I can see why it costs so much.  Growing plants and other ingredients in an organic or even biodynamic way is not cheap, but it is worth it as far as the health and safety of your body as well as the planet.  Not saying that I can afford it, but I can see where they’re coming from!  So hopefully it will be offered on www.vitacost.com soon so I can stock up and save.

Sweet Beauty pot de creme

Reading books such as “Ecological Intelligence” by Daniel Goleman and “Animal, Vegetable, Mineral” by Barbara Kingsolver has made me pay more attention to what I buy and from where.  Skin Deep is a database that rates the relative safety of shampoo, soap, lotion, cosmetics and other skin, nail and baby care items by assessing the chemicals that are in them and those chemicals’ known effects.  The ratings are on a scale of 0-10: 0-2 low hazard, 3-6 moderate hazard, 7-10 high hazard.   When I first plugged my favorite shampoos and conditioners into the database they all had scores of 9.  While there isn’t yet any evidence of a person dying from their shampoo – I switched to Avalon Organics with a rating of 3 – I’d rather be safe than sorry. 

Luckily, I don’t have to worry about one of my favorite treats: Sweet Beauty’s pot de creme, organic chocolate body cream.  Sweet Beauty’s pot de creme is a rich, smooth, creamy, ultra moisturizing body cream made from Theo’s organic fair trade chocolate and other natural ingredients.  It smells like chocolate, is paraben free, moisturizes your skin without being greasy and will not harm you if you accidentally eat it.  It scores a 2 (low hazard) on the Skin Deep rating.

Basically I’m wondering what kind of lotion you all use. You see, it’s quite cold and dry over here in Pullman and due to this fact, my legs are starting to resemble a cracked desert.

Currently I’m using Johnson’s Body Care in Forever Fresh, and I like it… I just think it’s more of a summer lotion because it’s light and airy. I need the good stuff now.

What’s your opinion? Let me know.

ALSO, I am getting my hair done next weekend and I’m at a loss, I’m not sure what to do. My “grow out” isn’t bad… because last time I went pretty natural, so I’m thinking about not getting it colored at all and just letting it be. But as for the cut… should I just get a trim?

Nach dem heutigen Tag war meine Haut total ausgetrocknet – lag zum einen an der Kälte und zum anderen an den Chemikalien, die ich zur Reinigung meiner Küche und meines Badezimmers benötigt habe. Meine Haut ist meist ziemlich schnell irritiert.

Hab dann die neue Body Lotion von Nivea ausprobiert. Vor einiger Zeit lag eine Probe von Happy Time in der schwedischen Cosmopolitan. Eigentlich mag ich mit Cremes nicht gerne experimentieren – wie gesagt, meine Haut ist sehr empfindlich. Doch es ging gut aus und ich rieche nun herrlich nach Apfelsine. Traumhaft!

My General Review:
My body is dry dry dry! I have ugly dry patch on my hands, legs, and feet. So dry it’s papery and texture-y, like a desert! Usual light, perfume-y lotion won’t do. But they’re all manageable if I use this lotion religiously twice a day!

It’s been my go to lotion for a long time already, because it’s moisturizing enough, easily accessible, decently priced, and actually has a bit of antioxidant! The moisturizing power may be just tad lower than heavy body butters, so it won’t smooth or plump my skin as well as butters, but it’s okay since this product is more economical yet contains more antioxidant than most good body butters

Plus, since my skin is so dry, butters’ effect won’t last that long anyway

What Else You Need To Know:
Jergens have other great moisturizers with even more luscious ingredients, like Jergens Natural Ultra Hydrating Daily Moisturizer, but it’s not available in Indonesia! Dang! Will try to get my hands on it though!

Application:
Anytime I feel like slathering this on my skin Mostly after bath or prior to bed though.

Availability:
Here in Jakarta you can grab it from supermarkets or drugstores like Carrefour or Watsons. I like to buy it from my local cosmetic shop at Mangga Dua though, it’s cheaper.

Price:
If you get it from Watsons, the big bottle may cost almost IDR100,000? But at Mangga Dua….you can get it at around IDR85,000 if I remember it correctly.

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5. Quite a heavy duty moisturizer with some antioxidants. I’d love to have more antioxidants in there, but I guess I can’t ask for too much, as the price is considerably cheap compared to some other great body moisturizer from other brand
