I hope you are all ready for Christmas and Looking forward to spending some time with your friends and family?
I can’t wait for a few days off, eating and drinking is the main thing I will be up to, (the diet definitely has to start in January) mixed with a lot of catching up with friends and family…….and a new years eve party at our house, which I’m really looking forward too!! I love to play the hostess!! My husband has given me strict orders to take some time off, so sorry If I’m a bit quiet over the next few days!!

So I wanted to take this opportunity to say a Big Thank you to everyone who has supported me this year, It’s been a funny old year really, I never thought I would be where I am 12 months ago, but I love it! And I’m really looking forward to 2010 and seeing what it has to offer us all.
So far I have met some really lovely people, suppliers and venues and I’m sure there are lots more out there to meet in the oncoming months.

So in 2010 look out for new Boho blog posts, including supplier of the week, venue of the week and a real brides feature, so get in contact with me here at Boho if you want to be featured.
I will be also be writing the odd article here and there offering advice and tips on planning, design inspiration and everything wedding related.
Watch out for some New Year discounts as well on my wedding services, more details to follow in January.
I’ve got some exciting new ideas for 2010, and a few collaborations coming together so watch this space for details.

So I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a prosperous and happy New Year and thanks again for your support!

Much Love

Lots of Wedding Blogs do it; yes it’s the real bride feature. I could spend all day looking at other peoples wedding pictures, especially the ones that are a bit different, have a theme or some sort of twist. So I decided that it would be great if people could send me in their own pictures to feature in my blog.
I’m happy to look at engagement shoots, pre wedding shoots, wedding boudoir shoots, weddings, blessings, civil partnerships, renewal of vows, weddings in the UK, weddings abroad, Trash the dress shoots……………anything really as long as it shows your love and individuality.
If you want to add in any other details such as suppliers you used (always nice to give credits to other companies) bit of a story of how you met, details of the wedding itself, then I can write up a bit of an article on you as well.
If it is your wedding please make sure the photographer is OK with the photos being published and if you are the photographer please make sure the couple is OK being featured.
Thanks a lot, can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures!!

Hi and Welcome to my first ever blog post!

I have to say that I love weddings! I love attending them, I love planning them, I love reading about them and I love wedding blogs! I have come across some really good ones over the last few months which have inspired me to create my own. My favourites so far include Rock ‘n Roll Bride, english-wedding, Ruffledblog, Hot Pink Brides, Polka Dot Bride, Style me Pretty and Wedding Chicks

Boho’s Blog will give me a chance to show you ideas and trends that I like, feature my favourite suppliers, show off real weddings and post wedding articles that I feel will help and inspire brides to be. As well as all this I will be keeping you up to date with everything I am up to.
A wedding planners diary I guess, mixed in with lots of other tips and inside knowledge!

I hope you like reading it! If you do come and visit my boho website

Thanks

Forty West, SODIC’s new project, in collaboration with HIP Boutique brought Matthew Williamson’s Spr

Forty West, SODIC’s new project, in collaboration with HIP Boutique brought Matthew Williamson’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection to Cairo last night with a fashion show, up to international standards minus the models (Karina you were the best!), at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza. Thanks to GLAM Fashion and Styling Agency (Maissa and Sahar Azab) who were behind the hard work of the show!

Should we expect any less from SODIC, the Real Estate developers known for their PR? Last night’s show was just one of the 7 events held throughout the week, and it was packed full of Cairo’s socialites all decked out in stylish fall attire. For some reason Gossip Girl came into mind but instead of the Palace, we were at the Four Seasons. I can’t say there was a real trend for the night’s outfits but there definitely was a lot of black. Then again, IT IS winter and winter equals black.

Getting back to business, the fashion show that is. Williamson’s aesthetic is hard to miss, but this time around, the flowery boho signature look was nowhere to be found. While parts of the collection still screamed Williamson with bright fluorescent greens, colorful prints, and embellishments; there was structure and a focus on lines, not your typical hippie. One cannot ignore the high-waisted shorts with beautifully beaded metallic tops, the multiple uses of textures, and the tropical palette. The show ended with a set of Grecian cut-out gowns and one special organza drop waist gown with a pouf below the knee. My summary is cut-out dresses, neon greens and blues, and LOTS of different sorts of embellishment.

Below are some pictures of the real runway items that were showcased yesterday. Hopefully, the actual runway pictures will follow shortly.

Damn! I have to tell you, a week without blogging or looking at pixel clothes made my head explode when I thought about dressing up. I haven’t been on much, apart from friday for trilogy opening …I have been m.i.a. and I am neglecting blogging so much I didn’t feel like coming back. However if I kept delaying it I think I wouldn’t blog again lol. I is lazy! First look made me happy though, its all fairly new and I thought I’d wear Milk Motion’s fur(ilicious) jacket in a slightly different way, more like a stole/vest and it looked pretty damn cute with the highwaisted pants (also from Milk Motion)!..I just noticed how I look super tall on the second (threeway) picture, eyes do deceive us!

The second look is an old outfit I made and that was just resting in some almost trashed folder but I thought I’d take it back (just updated shoes aha) it was especially done for a vain inc. spread (with bru <3) but since I missed it, I thought I’d show you. Hope you like it..muah muah! <3 Uma

My on-line Etsy store is dedicated to bringing you groovy, glam & glitz. I thought it would be fun to focus on what’s groovy. Here’s the wikipedia definition….

Groovy is a slang term that gained popular currency during the 1960s and 1970s and which is often associated with the counterculture of that era. It is roughly synonymous with words such as excellent, fashionable, or amazing, depending on context. Groovy originated in the jazz culture of the 1930s, in which it referred to the groove of a piece of music.

Here are some groovy vintage pieces that are fun and available right now for you to enjoy. Click on the pictures to learn more about them or to purchase.

For those who live in Concord or subscribe to the KAZA shop blog, we do a lot of windows at KAZA in

For those who live in Concord or subscribe to the KAZA shop blog, we do a lot of windows at KAZA in the Bohemian style. We love the combination eclectic, cultured, vintage style, that is Boho. It is important to give your space a soul when designing bohemian, if not, it will only seem contrived. It needs to reflect things you love.

But….what do you love?

The cultural definition of “Bohemian” is descriptive term for a stereotypical way of life for artists and intellectuals. According to the stereotype, bohemians live in material poverty because they prefer their art or their learning to lesser goods; they are also unconventional in habits and dress, and sometimes in morals.

hmmmmm….well, I don’t know if I agree completely with that definition. My definition of Bohemian is a bit different. My idea of Bohemian is a person whom is well traveled. I don’t mean, staying at 5 star hotels “well traveled”. I mean, someone who travels to really experience the lifestyle of another culture. Not luxurious, by any means. A much more organic, primitive voyage…perhaps on a Pilgrimage, like the late Jennifer Lash. A complete immersion in another culture; scent, taste, sight, language and touch and bringing that rich experience back home.

It also is an appreciation for vintage and all things that make you tingle inside. Sparkly cushions sitting on an old kilim. A vintage Pucci inspired fabric made into a pillow with an antique rich velvet backing. Artwork is formal, abstract and sometimes personal.

Bohemian is the yummy “sweet and salty” of design!

The first time I went to France, I had gone to visit some friends in Lille. I was bored. I wanted to buy berets and visit the Eiffel Tower (hey, I was only 19!)….until dinner. Dinner was my “V8 moment” and I started to really enjoy the experience of living as a real French woman; from the couscous stuffed tomatoes to the room temperature water served in an ornate blue bottle, to the fresh strawberries we bought at the local Marche Aux Puce, to picking herbs in the back garden, to the interesting and rich conversations and laughs, –I was absorbing everything.

On my way to the airport in Paris, I stopped at a fabulous cheese and wine shop to buy some “souvenirs” and on the plane someone complained that my now warming cheese smelled like “someone had parfum that was not agreeable”. I of course gave an, “oh yeah….you’re right! P.U.!” look, looked around suspiciously and quickly stuffed my bag into the overhead compartment.

That first trip to France changed me and made me realize how berets and the Eiffel Tower were not France. Not really. I took a piece of that culture, not to change my culture-I love my culture, but to enrich it.

Whenever I receive a packet from Turkey, it smells smoky. Not cigarette smoky, more of an incense. The paper feel different that wraps the new pieces. Heavier. It sounds different too. I always think of the history of where it comes from. In Salihli, it is the place where the first coin in history was made. There is evidence of 25,000 year old footprints there. The food they eat is very natural. No extra spicing. To actually taste something, at it’s purest form, is very normal for them. I actually had to show my friends there, pictures of a “drive thru” restaurant (they were stunned, at the thought, that many USA meals are eaten in cars). I watch how they eat…how they live, how they interact. They are comfortable in their skin and are very proud of their rich heritage.

Living “une vie Boheme” is more of a lifestyle, created to reflect what we love…our experiences that have formed us into who we are. Taking what we love and surrounding ourselves with it. It’s a big world —reach out and you will come back a changed person. Take a Moroccan cooking class and learn what those “tagine” things are. Learn a cool new language–Croatia is a beautiful place to visit. Take a Turkish felt rug making class. Go to the local Glendi and taste the rich flavours of Greece. Go to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and see a famous Masterpiece up close. Or go to the seaside and just breathe it in.

anne becker elle decor antique ikat

So…in a nutshell; surround yourself with things you love and learn about more things to love as a gift to yourself. I think there is a little Bohemian in all of us.

I got a few extra hours to waste, really way more than I should but I couldn’t help it. >.< lalala, So what did I do?..I changed, put some clothes on. I feel like sharing some thoughts with you while I’m at it…Sometimes, just sometimes, I have this weird feeling, I miss people in my life. Don’t you? Sometimes people that don’t matter at all, or people that are not part of your life anymore, nor are you part of their lives either, at all, anymore. It’s funny. We grow, they grow, things change, we change, but sometimes, just sometimes, we still miss them. Or those moments, maybe. Moments that can never ever be replaced, never be the same, prolly wouldn’t even feel the same if those people were part of it again. Moments forever cherished, moments forever lost. Forever meaningless. I guess I’m just mellow…melancholic even. Don’t you just feel the same, sometimes?…I know I do. <3 Uma

Ever since the beginning of Gossip Girl (pre and post threesome) and the sensational style of Blair

Ever since the beginning of Gossip Girl (pre and post threesome) and the sensational style of Blair Waldorf, hair flair has rocked the fashion world. What is hair flair, you ask? Um…only the most vital/amazing/and necessary accessory any woman can own, obvi.

Hair flair can transform an entire outfit and conceal your unwashed hair on days when you just don’t have time to shower (i.e. after a particularly long Tiki Tuesday). More importantly, unlike those expensive skinny jeans you picked up at the Nordstrom half-yearly sale, hair flair will always fit regardless of those holiday pounds, the freshmen fifteen, or the beer belly you’ve been sporting since football season (curse you keg stands and beer pong).

Well, if you want the same accessories as the Upper East Siders but don’t have the same cash monay, don’t worry. Here is a thrifty way to get the fabulous look without paying the big bucks. And if this particular style isn’t for you, something is wrong with you we’ve got another awesome DIY hair flair project you can do instead.

What You’ll Need:

Stretchy headbands/headwraps: You probably have one of these lying around, but if not, these are super cheap and you can pick them up at drug stores like CVS, Long’s, Duane Read or at any beauty store. My favorite brand to use is Scunci No Slip-Hair Grips because they come in packs of 4, are comfortable, and easy to decorate. Use a black headwrap to keep it classy or a bolder color to add some extra pop.

Fabric: A foot or two of any type of cloth fabric in any color/design you want! Most craft stores sell fabric squares meant for quilting, which are perfect for creating your hair flair, as your fabric needs to be cut in a square shape before you begin. Bonus: Many craft stores (Michael’s or JoAnn’s) have tons of leftover fabric scraps that you can get for super cheap. Just ask one of those ladies with the scissors!

The fabric color/design you choose can make your headwrap traditional and classy (think colors like Ivory, Champagne, Black, Grey, Red, etc), or have a little more funk (think designs like zebra, polka dots, stripes, or neon!).

Beads, Rhinestones, Buttons, MORE FLAIR!: These are optional materials, but will add that extra spunk to your homemade headband.

Hot Glue Gun/Glue: Every crafter’s best friend and sometimes lover. You’ll need this for a few steps throughout the DIY process.

What You’ll Do:

1.	Cut fabric into a 6×6 inch square piece. Cut another 4×4 inch square piece. (Really, you can cut these two pieces in any size square you want [depending how big and bold you want your headwrap to be]. Just make sure one piece is bigger than the other.)

2. Lay the fabric face-down (so the design/color side of your fabric isn’t showing) and grab it in the middle. Using your other hand, twist the fabric around the finger holding the center. The twisting will swirl the fabric to create a ruche-like effect. Hold finger in place, then fold and hot glue the four corners of the fabric to the center. Repeat with the smaller piece of fabric. You should now have two bubbly looking pieces of fabric!

3.	Add a small button, rhinestone, or bead in the center of the fabric if you want to add some extra glitz.

4.	Now, hot glue the two ruched fabric bubbles to the headwrap, side by side. Let dry. Once the pieces are glued to the headband, take some leftover fabric, cut out a small strip and glue it behind the fabric pieces (inside the headband). This will make your headwrap look more polished and be more comfortable for you to wear!

5.	Wear your new hair flair! Wear like a traditional headband or pull it low across your forehead for a more bohemian look.

6. Take all compliments modestly, direct all admirers to CollegeCandy, and tell them, yes, you are a fashion visionary and trendsetter.
