I was all prepared to give a detail by detail run-down of our “Tuesday Adventure Club!”

I was all prepared to give a detail by detail run-down of our “Tuesday Adventure Club!” We did have a blast on our adventure, but the end of the day provided a valuable lesson…So, I’ll have to tell the shortened version of our trip (I’m not making any promises, but I’ll try)!

We met at Vivian’s house for a quick breakfast and coffee. This woman keeps the cleanest house! Sorry – I divert!

Our plan was to head over to an open house of Polish pottery!

Vivian’s house

I had heard so much about this pottery, so I was very excited to see what all the hype was about! I get it!…nice classic pieces that can be used for coffee and tea, appetizers, and snacks, baking–you name it. I walked away with a few nice pieces that my girls are already enjoying.

This place was pretty nice, having its location in the upper level of a beautiful Belgian home. The women that run this business were very helpful, helping guests to choose coordinating pieces and even packaging it all up safely, once selections are made. The ladies schedule customers by appointment and a few times a year, they schedule an open house. Their open house was yesterday and Today, Wednesday, May 23.

Our selections!

Our next stop was the American Women’s Club to pick up a few things and then on to Lunch at Bois Savanes for Thai food. I ordered the Green Curry chicken with rice! How is it that food can be so spicy that it literally clears your sinuses, but you continue to eat? It was really good, that’s how! I’ll have to go back with the family…

Wendy’s “replacement lens”

Okay, so on to my lesson of the day – I knew I couldn’t give the short version!

While at the American Women’s Club, I decided to purchase a gift for Wendy, as a joke. I couldn’t resist! Wendy had her camera lens stolen from her in London. I’m sure the perpetrator thought her camera was in the case as well. Lucky for her, her camera was on her lap! To all the people who ask, “do you always carry your camera?” – Yes, it does pay to have your camera attached to you! I told her that I would buy her a new lens if I could…but I can’t:)…so, the coffee mug that looks just like a camera lens would have to do. She thought it was a hilarious gift and we all laughed about it.

We headed over to an awesome discount furniture store. This place is GREAT! I’ve already bought two super cool chairs, a candelabra and a Belgian flag from there! I’m enjoying the store and went to take a picture, when I hear a strange sound.

I try to take another picture and my camera’s flash (NIKON D5100) literally starts to smoke!…Seriously???? Not even an hour after I’m joking about Wendy’s camera lens, my friggin’ camera smokes – and you could smell that something wasn’t right! My friend Julie from Indiana always says that her Aunt Helen used to say, “It makes a difference if it’s me or thee!” Well, now the joke’s on me and I’m realizing what a good sport Wendy was, for accepting her “replacement lens” with laughter…cause being without my camera “AIN’T FUNNY!”

I called my husband a few hours later when it sank in, almost in tears, and he said, “You need a new camera, we’ll get you a new camera. It’s just a camera, don’t be upset about it.” As we look forward to celebrating our 13th anniversary next Tuesday, his response to my emotional rant reminded me of just one of the reasons I married him. I can always count on him to be the voice of reason. Thanks, Dwight for making me feel better…
