Não sou adepta de música portuguesa, pelo contrário, mas gosto do ritmo desta musica. A letra não me diz muito (diz-me pouco ou nada), é demasiado romântica e só reparei na música porque passa muitas vezes na radio.É engraçada!

Mas não foi isso que me levou a escrever este post. Ontem terminei de ler um dos livros de Karen Marie Moning e fiz algo que não repetia desde a saga Luz e Escuridão: li o livro em dois dias, cerca de 200 páginas em cada noite. Foi-me impossível parar. Não é um livro sobre vampiros, muito menos elfos. É um livro que se desenvolve na Escócia (esse sitio fantástico que um dia gostava de conhecer..lista das 100 coisas) e que envolve romance e viagens no tempo. Passo a citar as palavras de uma amiga bookcrosser, relativamente a este livro:

O que mais gostei:
- O humor presente na história;
- A descrição dos “apetecíveis” Highlanders =P;
- O final.
- A frase usada nos votos de casamento dos druídas:

“Algo a perder-se, que seja a minha honra pela tua. Algo a ser repudiado, seja a minha alma pela tua. Chegue a morte quando chegar, seja a minha vida pela tua. Entrego-me.”

Há livros fantásticos, não há?

Ma człowiek swoje “oczywiste oczywistości”, których gotów bronić wbrew faktom i logice, swój ciasny, ale własny horyzont myślowy – a tu czasami jedna lektura wystarczy, by czarno-biały obraz mocno się rozmazał.

Wielkiś mi pan, panie Tomaszu Łubieński, uczynił swoją książką we łbie zamęt. Jak też Panu nie wstyd pisać (to tak można?!) o tym, że Adolf Hitler, gdyby czytał jeszcze latem 1939 r. wyciągi z polskich gazet, mógłby “z przyjemnością smakować antysemickie cytaty“? Albo o swoim ojcu, który otrzymawszy od rządu na uchodźstwie Krzyż Walecznych za Kampanię Wrześniową, po zakończeniu wojny postanowił “zaangażować się w krajową rzeczywistość” (to tak można było?!) – i że generał Anders, wiedząc już o tej decyzji, nie zawahał się nazwać go porządnym człowiekiem. Albo jeszcze o tym, że w ponad rok po klęsce wrześniowej portrety marszałka Piłsudskiego wciąż wisiały – za zgodą okupanta! – w miejscach publicznych (w czym nie było, rzecz jasna, najmniejszej winy Marszałka; ale wymieniać ten fakt w publikacji, po którą z uwagi na objętość sięgnąć może co ambitniejszy licealista – to tak można?!).

A już te Pańskie uwagi na temat elit II RP, “byczej propagandy“, “udawania mocarstwa” w ich wykonaniu… I o tym, że wyższość moralna “żadną miarą” nie mogła uczynić Powstania Warszawskiego z wojskowego punktu widzenia mniej beznadziejnym… Nie, stanowczo nie sposób po takiej lekturze nadal posłusznie konsumować medialnej papki historycznej. To chociaż z Czytelnikami się podzielę, a co. Niech im też zamąci.

“Co z tego, że przeciwstawiali się kiedyś legendzie Powstania [Warszawskiego - RC] na przykład generał Władysław Anders, redaktor Jerzy Giedroyć, Stefan Kisielewski, ten ostatni nie dość, że pisarz, kompozytor, publicysta, to jeszcze uczestnik Powstania. (…) Ich prawda o Powstaniu rozmija się z legendą. Więc przegrywa z innymi wspomnieniami, które lepiej odpowiadają, przyjętemu za obowiązujące, społecznemu zamówieniu.
(…)
Niepopularne, krępujące słowa-hasła, jak: wina, błąd, lekcja, sąd historii, czy mówiąc zwyczajnie, historyczna recenzja potomnych, mają na przykładzie Września większe szanse, niż wobec Powstania. Które wciąż bywa traktowane namiętnie, osobiście, a także politycznie, nawet komercjalnie. Co w sumie nie sprzyja refleksjom ani ocenom.”

“Gdzieś około 50. rocznicy Powstania zaproszony do telewizji słowami: “Bo pan jest przeciw Powstaniu“, znalazłem się w dyskusyjnej mniejszości. Żeby “co było do okazania” (przypomina się CBDO ze szkolnych zeszytów), okazało się, że niby tragedia, niby klęska, a tak naprawdę – Victoria. Patriotyczna, w każdym razie. Jak wiadomo, wszelkie znaki zapytania, trzykropki, tryb warunkowy, zdania złożone podrzędnie nie sprawdzają się w telewizyjnej gramatyce. Raczej zdecydowane pojedyncze kropki, a najlepiej wykrzykniki. Powiedzmy, że powoływałem się na liczbę ok. 200 tys. ofiar Powstania. Jakie około? Najwyżej 180 tysięcy – prostuje mój kompetentny antagonista, który więcej (naprawdę wiele) wie, niż rozumie. I już leci na ekranie następne pytanie.”

“Innym razem szczęśliwy, bo ocalał w dobrym zdrowiu i dobrą pamięcią bohater Powstania, odpowiedział na moje narzekania, że o Powstaniu nie powinni wypowiadać się ci, którzy nie brali w nim udziału.

Ale ja przepraszam, czy to znaczy, że Powstanie ma być wyłączną własnością jego przedostatnich już weteranów? (…) A gdyby ktoś zaproponował odwrotnie, na przekór, że to właśnie akurat może kombatanci nie powinni zabierać głosu we własnej sprawie, tylko spokojnie, pozostając przy swoim, wysłuchać, jak też Powstanie postrzegane jest z dystansu? Ponieważ ich emocje, oceny, oparte na wspomnieniach będą zawsze subiektywne i powiedzmy sobie otwarcie: biologia zaciemnia, czy raczej nadmiernie rozjaśnia perspektywę.

(…) Oczywiście, niczego podobnego nie wypada głośno powiedzieć, a poza tym między uczestnikiem czy naocznym świadkiem historii z jednej, a krytycznym badaczem źródeł z drugiej strony toczą się klasyczne spory, czasami mocno nieprzyjemne. Ktoś pamięta wyraźnie i wydaje mu się, że działo się to wczoraj. Skąd strzelał, z jakiej broni, o której godzinie, czy już padało, czy jeszcze świeciło (…), kto się sprawdził, kto załamał. Tymczasem rozmaite relacje się nie zgadzają, z dokumentów też wynika inaczej. Ale one również mogą się mylić.

I oto młody historyk, krępująca sytuacja, poucza weterana, kiedy tamtego zawiodła pamięć, gdzie pomylił się, w którym momencie dopuścił się błędu, jak zachował się naprawdę, a jak powinien był. I oto w psychice kombatantów, którzy ryzykowali bezinteresownie, dla patriotycznej idei, w miarę upływu lat pogłębiają się roszczenia. Rodzą się pretensje do podziwu, posłuchu, oraz poczucie wyższości. To zrozumiałe, i co mogłem odpowiedzieć starszemu panu z rozetką Virtuti w klapie niemodnej marynarki, kiedy publicznie huknął na mnie, że wymyślam bzdury na temat porażki Powstania, podczas gdy on pamięta tę chwilę, kiedy nad Warszawą załopotała biało-czerwona flaga. I tej chwili nie zapomni aż do śmierci. Na szczęście we własnym łóżku.”

“Byłoby całkiem logiczne, że reżyserując moskiewską defiladę, Niemcy powierzyliby część kawaleryjską Polakom, mając ugruntowane przekonanie o polskich zamiłowaniach do wojskowego fechtunku i blichtru, napoleońskiej tradycji. “Myślę, że Polska drogo zapłaciłaby za tamtą defiladę moskiewską wspólną z Niemcami. Gdyby w ogóle do niej doszło. Ale nie doszło, na szczęście. Zresztą Niemcy i tak musiały wojnę przegrać, bo ich plan polegał na podporządkowaniu sobie całego świata. Co się jeszcze nikomu nie udało. I Polska dzieliłaby z Niemcami klęskę w niesławie. Ale świat nie może się obyć bez Niemiec. Po obu wielkich wojnach, które Niemcy wywołały, karcono je, a potem troszczono się, aby doszły do równowagi. I Rosja, podobnie jak Niemcy, do końca świata musi istnieć, budząc strach i podziw, nadzieję czy potępienie.

Natomiast Polska, co wykazały zabory, panowie Mołotow z Ribbentropem, a także Jałta, wcale nie musi być dla świata niepodległa. (…) Obawiam się, że po nieuchronnym rozpadzie niemieckiego imperium (jeśliby takie zdążyło nawet powstać) nie znalazłby się polityk równie potężny i wspaniałomyślny jak Wilson, co by upomniał się o wskrzeszenie kłopotliwego państwa polskiego, któremu – to prawda – nie sprzyjała historia, ale samo też było sobie winne. I oto właśnie nie potrafiło się odpowiednio zachować, wiążąc się z hitlerowskimi Niemcami. Ale ów związek to, dzięki Bogu, tylko perwersyjna, alternatywna fikcja historyczna.”

“Co Anschluss oznaczał dla Czechosłowacji, zupełnie nie martwiło ministra Becka. Zapewne nasi południowi sąsiedzi też nie grzeszyli elegancją mówiąc o Polsce, byli wobec Polski politycznie złośliwi, ale czasem trochę wstyd za naszego ministra, postać było nie było historyczną. (…) W czerwcu 1937 roku przewidywał, że “Czechosłowacja jako karykatura monarchii austro-węgierskiej, bez Habsburgów” nie utrzyma się dłużej niż półtora roku. Gdybyż Beck mógł przewidzieć, że spełnienie tego proroctwa oznaczać będzie katastrofę jego dotychczasowej polityki, że po Czechosłowacji Polska stanie się kolejną ofiarą Hitlera! Ale resentymenty wobec Czechosłowacji, o której Beck wyrażał się per “państewko“, były dla niego ważniejsze niż przewidywania.”

Zdarzało się podobno weteranom obu operacji z różnych wojskowych pokoleń wymieniać wrażenia. Jedni i drudzy nie wspominali dobrze tamtych zwycięstw. Hurrapatriotyczną propagandę z 1938 roku i patos internacjonalistycznego obowiązku 30 lat później, niemal w rocznicę. Jedno i drugie pod polskim sztandarem.”

“Od paru miesięcy owe 300 metrów częściowo przewieszonej ściany należało do Rzeczypospolitej, podobnie jak szereg innych pięknych ścian tatrzańskich. Dla sportowców było to obojętne, może nawet krępujące, a w ogóle bez znaczenia; nie zważając na nieprzyjazne stosunki między sąsiadami poruszano się swobodnie po Tatrach w ramach konwencji turystycznej. Aunque está en inglés y muchos no seamos bilingues, se entiende muy bien el mensaje.

Back to the basic in the blogging world.  Starting to feel the pinch maintaining a professionally hosted website, though I do feel a little sad letting it go.  The exchange rate conversion is pretty high, and also I do not always have ideas of what to write so decide to cancel it, anyway letting the site go idle for couple of months not having any contributions may just invite the spiders to come spin their webs around it, haha.  I have thought I could keep the theme and transfer it to my current blog, but seems mission impossible.  Perhaps I just don’t know how to go about doing it. Anyway, in my current free blog, I will still continue sharing about what I read, but with lesser stress if I have mental block and not able to compose anything eloquent out. Just hope that gradually I will know how to improve this blog.

Samedi 5 décembre opération Bookcrossing à Rouen : faire circuler des livres en les « libérant » dans la nature

Samedi 5 décembre, 500 livres vont être parachutés sur dans plusieurs lieux publics. L’initiative lancée par les bibliothèques de Rouen. Voici la définition qu’on peut trouver sur Wikipedia concernant le Bookcrossing :

“Le bookcrossing, autrement appelé BC ou BX, est un phénomène mondial dont le concept est de faire circuler des livres en les « libérant » dans la nature pour qu’ils puissent être retrouvés et lus par d’autres personnes, qui les relâcheront à leur tour.

La base du bookcrossing est un site internet, qui permet principalement d’enregistrer les livres et de suivre leur parcours. Si quelqu’un décide de relâcher un livre en bookcrossing, il obtient sur le site un numéro identifiant unique (BCID pour BookCrossing ID) qui permet de garder trace du voyage du livre.  Les expressions francophones du phénomène sont « livre voyageur », « libérez un livre » ou « passe-livre ».”

Tous les livres proposés cette année déclinent  le thème de la folie, de l’aventure, le défi et l’irréalisable. Inutile de rapporter les livres aux bibliothèques de Rouen : ces livres doivent voyager loin… très loin.

En el número de Noviembre de la Revista Municipal VIVE POZUELO, hemos podido leer el anuncio de que la Concejalía de Cultura introduce en Pozuelo la “iniciativa” del Bookcrossing.

Lo cierto es que en Pozuelo ya se estaba haciendo. La iniciativa de compartir libros con sus vecinos se puso en marcha desde la Agrupación Socialista de Pozuelo de Alarcón durante la campaña de elecciones municipales 2007, y desde entonces lleva funcionando ininterrumpidamente por nuestras calles.

La idea de compartir es puro socialismo y compartir un libro con un desconocido, no solo es eso, va más allá. Es regalar lo que más estimas: el libro y lo que simboliza.

Esta es una contribución individual y un compromiso personal y activo, cuyo objetivo no es más que la propagación universal de la cultura desde la sencillez.

A lo largo de nuestra historia, los socialistas hemos contribuido al fomento de la cultura, entendiéndola como uno de nuestros pilares fundamentales.

Quizá sin pretenderlo, alguno de los libros que hemos compartido llegó a manos adecuadas y eso ha permitido que la Concejalía de Cultura haya recogido por fin esta idea e igual que nosotros, los socialistas, faciliten de esta forma el fomento a la lectura con todos los medios que tienen a su alcance.

Consideramos que es un éxito que con nuestra callada labor hayamos conseguido esta gran ayuda, y por nuestra parte seguiremos sembrando la semilla de la cultura, para quien quiera recogerla.

I’ve lots of things to update now since I have not updated my blog for almost a week=X. Hence, I am going to separate them into two different entries just to make me seem less long-winded and for readability.=)

NCT last week was pretty fruitful for me. Just from the lecture alone, I’ve learnt quite a lot of things about technology in business and work. I also get to know some interesting websites and I am going to share with you guys on my blog. Cheers!

I don’t know if this works for Singapore. Do you know there’s a website for you to share your books with others after you’ve read and you’ll be able to trace where it is later? The website is named “Bookcrossing”. I thought it was quite a cool idea. You just have to print out the number code from the website and slot it in the book. After that, you could just leave the book anywhere in the public (E.g. on bus, on the benches, in foodcourts,etc.) and if someone picks up your book, He/she will enter it into the website and you will be able to track where it goes to. And it was said that this happened in one country and the girl tracks that her book went all round the country. It’s really pretty nice to share books with people and even more fascinating to share with strangers that you don’t know. However, according to my teacher, one of our seniors did the same thing and when she went home to see if she could track the book; it was nowhere to be found. But well, it didn’t really surprise me. After all, not many Singaporeans know about this website and seriously, not many will keep a book that is found in the public. Perhaps that will only happen if the book is made of real gold.

 Another interesting website that Ms Kwa introduced us is www.meetup.com . It is a place where one can find interest groups to meet up with. It ranges from studying group (I bet lots of students need this) to Taichi group to fans group (Fans of Korean celebrities look here). But it’s really sad when I can’t find my favourite pianist fans meet up group in this website.=( Perhaps Yiruma isn’t that famous in Singapore yet.

Seriously, I really got to say that Singapore is quite an uninteresting place with uninteresting people, or should I say audience? Have anyone heard for the Singapore Flash Mob Dance that was held in Raffles Place? Even though I wasn’t there, I saw the video on it which Ms Kwa showed us during our lecture. The response was pathetic. Especially when you compare it with the T-Mobile Dance held in Liverpool Street Station in London. The ideas are similar but the responses are very different. You will know what I mean after you see the two videos below.

Can you see the difference? Singaporeans are just walking past those dancers even though it’s really unusual for people to suddenly dance on the street or in the public. Okay, I should stop using “Singaporeans” but “we” since I am a Singaporean too. Should I say we are getting less observant or are we getting boring? Or perhaps we are just living in our own world? 

However, I think some changes could be made to the Singapore Flash Mob Dance in order to have better responses. Instead of an open air Mob Dance, make it indoor. The music will be louder and more surrounded this way. Indoor also means lesser distractions (e.g. car noise, nature sounds). The selection of songs should be more interesting. Maybe a mixture of slow and fast songs will allow people to pay more attention to the Mob Dance. Well, just some opinions I have.

And saying about dance, it kinds of reminded me of the BK subservient chicken. It is really a good way of advertising as it is interactive and different. You seldom see such advertisement. Just type in commands such as “dance”, “sleep”, “sit”, etc. and you can see the chicken does what you want. This relates it back to BK’s tagline “Get the chicken the way you like.” or something to that.

Speaking of advertising and doing business, people are really innovative in doing all these online using the latest technology. Many companies now get their employees online to tweet and blog during their working hours. The old rules all now gone and technology is the thing now. However, there are still companies that prefer the traditional way and limit them to go online. Even SMS-ing is not allowed during work time. I seriously wonder how long will those traditional rules last. Everyone is now tweeting and Facebook-ing almost every day. If there are still companies that keep those traditional rules strict, I guess is sooner or later that everyone will start leaving. Who doesn’t want a job with high pay and all you have to do is just tweet about your company and build relationships with customers on Facebook?

Well, maybe not everyone now. But in 5 years’ time, I guess it will be the whole world.

And I just viewed “The Garden Slug” menu. The food looks nice! I really hope to eat there one day but isn’t it a little too far and inconvenient to get there?=(

Anyway, that’s how fruitful the lecture was last Wednesday=). Followed on were presentations about the future of things due to the technology. First was Aaron’s group which presented on “The Future of Music”. I like the prediction they had about online live concert. If such things really happened, i seriously won’t mind paying $10 to see my favourite idol’s live concert online. Even though the atmosphere won’t be the same but it’s better than not watching at all.

Next was my group presenting on “The Future of Journalism”. Luckily I did much research about it and I thought i handled pretty well during the Q&A. Well, at least I wasn’t speechless or confused when people asked questions.

The last group on Thurs was Andrea’s group, presenting on “The Future of Learning”. They predicted that in the future, there will be more online lessons and assignments. There was a small discussion in class and Nick said that online lessons could shorten the study years. Come to think of it, I kind of disagree. If lessons were to be online, I doubt no one will study. People could just find their classmates who are hardworking and copy their work. Even though SP isn’t totally online yet, there are already students copying others’ works. If everything were to go online, I guess it will only make students get lazier and more anti-social. Perhaps there will be even an increase in number of retainers. Personally, I don’t fancy online lessons. I can’t ask questions immediately when I don’t understand something, and I can’t enjoy the feel of being a student. Being a student is so much fun and everyone is dread of it. I seriously don’t understand why.

On Friday, Elizabeth’s, Shiqi’s and Ned’s groups did presentations. I was especially fascinated by the content of Ned’s presentation about “The Future of Advertising”. I admitted that I’ve never thought of advertising that interactive and fun. Yes, i love advertising and all these future advertising makes my heart burns even more for advertising. It also somewhat let me feel that what I’ve learnt in poly for the first 2 years about advertising a little wasted. Okay, maybe wasted is not the right word because I still got to learn the basics after all. But I think in the future, in 5 years’ time, maybe advertising is not just about Photoshop and drawings and painting. It’s about Flash, videos, social media and technology. Sometimes, i really feel like the world is going too fast for me to catch up.

Shiqi’s group presentation kind of confused me. No, I am not saying it is bad or what just that the ending really makes me wonder what exactly their predictions are. I don’t know is it just my problem or what. After the presentation, I asked Shiqi and she explained to me about it. I understood a little then.

All these presentations about future make me think that the future is really a confusing world. Or either is made up of confusing humans. Perhaps this world should just end in 2012. But I really want to live on to see how the world will be like in the future=)

Ja terminei o livro que trouxe. Nao é nada de especial, pelo contrário, sao várias historias de amor escritas pela Margarida Rebelo Pinto, portanto nao é de todo uma reliquia. Houve apenas uma parte que gostei e que vos deixo:

Pega no telefone e liga-lhe, nao tens nada a perder. Mais vale saberes que tudo terminou do que viveres com as laranjas todas no ar, qual malabarista exausto, sem saberes nem como nem quando elas vao cair. (…) E quando todas as laranjas cairem, apanha-as  com cuidado, guarda-as num cesto e muda de profissao. O circo é para quem nao tem casa nem país, nao é vida para ninguem. Guarda as laranjas num cesto, leva-as para casa e faz um bolo de saudades para esquecer a magoa. Larga as laranjas e muda de vida.

La presentazione del libro Bersagli innocenti a cura di Assovittime si svolgerà mercoledì 18 novembre 2009 alle ore 11,00 presso la Sala delle conferenze del Palazzo Marini a Roma in via Del Pozzetto, 158. Saranno presenti gli autori.

In arrivo anche il thriller Pista di Sangue di Graziano Bortolotti e il saggio di Fabio Giovannini sui tesori della Roma Antica, edito da Mursia.
A inaugurare il 2009 toccherà invece a Roberto Santini col suo nuovo romanzo edito da Hobby & Work.

Our clothes dryer started making this hideous noise and, as a result, this past weekend we had to take our clothes to a nice, local laundrette not too far away. 

On the wall at the laundrette there happens to be a shelfless rack just small enough to fit books!  It was a good spot and a perfect place to “wild release” two books. 

The books I chose to leave behind were Vince Flynn’s Act of Treason and Jennifer Cruisie’s Faking It.  Both were part of  my U.S.-Only Under-100 Bookbox of Mysteries, Suspense, Thrillers & Horrors.  A bit of a challenge as all  book titles added to the box had to have less than 100 books registered at Bookcrossing.com.

Still in the wild release spirit, Wyg surprised me by leaving The Partner by John Grisham on a bench located outside of a Petco and a dentistry business.

Als ich mich mal wieder etwas im Internet war und dabei so manches Forum durchgestöbert habe, kam ich auf ein Projekt wo um wilde Bücher handelt. Die wo es nicht kennen, werden sich nun fragen: Wilde Bücher? JA!
Es handelt darum, ein Buch das man gelesen hat mit dem Rest der Bevölkerung zu teilen und auch selbst davon zu profitieren.Die eigentliche Webseite ist in Englisch gehalten, jedoch gibt es auch eine deutsche Seite über das sogenannte Bookcrossing, wo man Infos dazu erhält.

Die deutsche Seite bietet eine FAQ an, die genau über das Prozedere aufklärt.
Es geht darum, das Buchbesitzer, sich von Büchern trennen und diese auf Reisen schicken.
Dafür wird ein Buch gekennzeichnet mittels Etikett (kann man kostenlos ausdrucken), auf dem die sogenannte BCID Nummer, der Nickname wie auch evtl. das Freilassdatum vermerkt ist. Zuvor muss man jedoch auf der englischen Seite sich registrieren und auch sein Buch dort registrieren, damit man eine eindeutige BCID bekommt. Nachdem man nun so ein Buch mit Etikett versehen hat, hat man nun mehrere Auswahlmöglichkeiten:
1. Man gibt es nicht her und liest es einfach.
2. Man legt das Buch irgendwo aus, wo es vor dem Wetter geschützt ist (ausgewildert).
3. Man macht sogenannte Ringe, wo das Buch wirklich per Post durch X Teilnehmer geschickt wird, jedoch sind dies in der Regel alles Bekannte und das Buch ist nicht wirklich wild.
4. Es gibt in einigen Städten Geschäfte mit Regalen, diese sind eine Art Sammelpunkt. Auch hier kann man sich einfach bedienen oder aber ein Buch reinstellen.
5. Andere Abarten wie komplette Authorboxen etc. gibt es auch noch.

Jetzt werden sich sicherlich manche fragen, was man selbst davon hat.
Wenn man selbst ein Buch gelesen hat und es nicht mehr benötigt oder gar noch einmal liest, wird das ganze zu einem Staubfresser mit der Zeit. Lässt man das Buch frei, kann sich durch die aufgeklebten Etiketten mit eingetragener Nummer, der Finder melden, das Buch lesen und selbst wieder in die Wildnis abgeben. So kann das Buch z.B. in einem ganz anderen Land oder sonstwo landen und jeder Mensch wo dabei geholfen hat, durfte das Buch lesen, so lange er wollte. Es gibt auch Fälle wo Bücher aus Amerika nach Deutschland gelangten und hier mittlerweile so eine Art Kultstatus haben und immer noch getauscht bzw. gefunden  werden obwohl schon über 400 Leute das Buch zu Gesicht bekamen.
Alles in allem ein netter Running Gag, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Manche versehen ihre Bücher mit Geocode, so das noch eine Art Schnitzeljagd daraus wird.
Der deutliche Mehrwert, den man durch das ganze System hat, ist selbst etwas zu finden und es zu melden und natürlich anschließend zu lesen. Dies kann je nach Dorf/Stadt bereits etabliert oder aber noch in den Anfangsschuhen stecken. Ich selbst habe noch kein Buch gefunden, habe aber heute ein Buch ausgewildert und bin schon recht gespannt ob ich hier Nachahmer finde. Selbst Verlage haben sich das System Bookcrossing zu Nutze gemacht, mag wenn Wikipedia glauben.

Natürlich kann es passieren, das das Buch durch Vandalen zerstört wird, oder aber von einer Reinigungskraft einfach weggeschmissen wird, deshalb empfehlen sich Plätze wo viel los ist, so das es rasch gefunden wird. Aber selbst wenn es von jemanden gefunden wird, besteht keine Möglichkeit das nach zu vollziehen wenn derjenige sich nicht meldet unter der BCID-Nummer. Deshalb hat das auswildern auch etwas mit los lassen zu tun. Man hofft darauf, das sie Ihrem Zweck nachkommen. Ich persönlich habe mein Buch so prepariert, das ich ein Etikett auf die Vorderseite sowie ein weiteres auf die Innenseite des Umschlags geklebt habe. Des weiteren habe ich auf eine freie Seite noch einmal die URL’s mitsamt Nummer und Gruß dort niedergeschrieben, falls die Aufkleber doch unleserlich werden sollten.
Es gibt auch Leute in dieser Community, wo gezielt auf die Jagd nach den Büchern gehen. Die Webseite bietet dazu eine Suche unter “Go hunting”.

Alles in allem, finde ich es eine wirklich nette Idee, seine Bücher, die man evtl. irgendwann eh wegschmeißt, anderen so kostenlos zugänglich zu machen. Durch die Finder wird die Community auch immer größer, was so langsam zu einem weltweiten Netzwerk mutiert. Selbst wenn das eine oder andere Buch verschollen geht, ist dies nicht schlimm, denn man hatte sich eh dazu entschlossen es los zu lassen. Natürlich sollte man bei manchen Orten aufpassen. So gab es in den USA wohl schon Fälle wo so ein wild gewordenes Buch zu Problemen führte, genau so wie man ein Buch nicht in einem Buchladen frei lässt, da man sonst evtl. des Diebstahls bezichtigt werden könnte. Ich persönlich würde mich freuen, wenn auch ich mal ein Buch finde. Zwar habe ich jetzt heraus gefunden das bei uns im Wald wohl eins versteckt sein soll, doch interessiert mich der Titel nicht und ich überlasse dies lieber anderen Leuten *g*.
Achja, wer ein Buch gefunden hat, muss sich nicht registrieren, sondern kann auch ohne die Registrierung den Fund mitteilen.
Auch würde es mich freuen, wenn durch diesen Blogeintrag der ein oder andere zu Bookcrossing findet

Nachdem ich nun 2 Bücher ausgewildert habe, musste ich heute abend einfach noch einmal nach schauen was mit eben diesen passiert ist. Beide haben wohl eine/n Leser/in gefunden, was mich sehr freut. Sprich meine Befürchtung wegen Vandalismus, war anscheinend unbegründet und ich bin gespannt wann die ersten Journal-Einträge kommen *g*

Roberto mi segnala che il Maggio Musicale Fiorentino ha avviato un’iniziativa di bookcrossing, mettendo a disposizione in alcuni luoghi di Firenze 10.000 pubblicazioni fra programmi di sala, saggi, ecc. che invita poi a liberare dopo la lettura, segnalandolo sul loro sito.

Step away from the books…

I cannot resist the lure of a new book from one of my favorite authors.  My nasty little habit of buying new books in hardcover – oh, the horror, the extravagance! – is one of which I am not proud.  I do, however, have some strategies for negating its more onerous aspects.  I recommend them to all of you who share in my shame.

• At least wait until your book is on the bestseller list and buy it at a deeper discount from some bookstores.
• Get a bookstore discount card.  If you are an unrepentant “way too many books” buyer, you don’t even have to do the math.
• Frequent your local “non-chain” bookseller and put tax dollars back into your own community.
• If you are an Amazon Prime member, opt for the two day free shipping.
• Some of your favorites will go into your library.  But if a book is not ones your kids will want to inherit, read rapidly and flip even faster:

- Sell it to the local “half-price” book store while it’s still a hot item.

- Exchange it for another book at an online “book swap” site such as swaptree or BookMooch

- Trade with fellow readers you meet on sites for booklovers like Shelfari and GoodReads

- Join a Meetup of fellow booklovers for a more satisfying book-swapping experience.

- Donate the book to the library and take a tax deduction.

By putting your book back in circulation, you’ve not only saved yourself some money, you’ve reduced your carbon footprint.   Who said it’s not easy being green?

É definitivo. Depois de uma boa e intensa tarde de trabalho, esta era a única musica que me vinha à cabeça , a única que me distraía do que eu não queria enfrentar. Ironia do destino!

Este é um daqueles dias em que com o fundo certo, claramente eu jogaria aos dardos. Com o pensamento certo, destruía metade do que me aparecesse à frente. A sorte é que o trabalho rendeu, caso contrario, seria também um bom dia para ficar na cama. Se realmente estivesse em casa, pegaria num kispo de penas, numa taça com cereais e leite ou uma cevada e sentava-me lá fora em silencio, a olhar para a minha cidade iluminada, a passar um bom momento. Claro que se a estrela estivesse na rua, seria impossível estar completamente em silêncio, que é um detalhe. Mas claro, são apenas ideias, nesta terra horrível, é claramente impossível fazer isso e muitas coisas mais! Como eu odeio esta cidade..!

Hoje é claramente um bom dia para rasgar papel. (uma técnica que vi alguém usar..não me perguntem se resulta. I don’t know the answer..) Entretanto, na Thresca, vi esta frase e lembrei-me de um instante apenas. Aquele género em que fico calada sem comentar.

Mudando de assunto, demorei hoje mais a chegar ao IST do que alguma vez consegui nestes 5 anos e pouco. Admito que a culpa foi claramente minha, com a mania de não correr como uma louca para não perder o metro que começa estupidamente a bipar quando ainda estamos no cimo da escadaria. Fica prometido que não torno atrasar-me ou atrasar terceiros com a minha mania de ter calma logo de manha.

Anyway, nem a leitura corre como deveria. Um livro de m****, aparentemente. Às vezes penso que o Miguel Sousa Tavares podia dedicar-se à pesca como o M., ou à agricultura como eu, ou ao que ele quisesse com excepção da escrita, porque ele é péssimo!

Mas bem, tenho mesmo que sair de casa, arrastar-me até ao supermercado mais próximo, para preencher o frigorifico, de preferência com coisas que o R. odeie como espinafres. (Eu adoro espinafres..é isso. Já sei o que vai ser o jantar. Não, não são espinafres)

We went to a wine tasting this past Friday evening.  (What an interesting night that was.)  It begged for a themed wild release.  So I went into bookcrossing mode and  placed this cozy mystery with a vineyard setting on a shelf at the entrance to the wine tasting venue.

I hope someone finds it soon and hope even more that he or she will make a journal entry.

Meanwhile, toward the end of the evening and several glasses later, I did pass on a fascinating book titled A Year In Provence by Peter Mayle to a fellow wine taster who I met for the first time.  I also gave her a copy of Bookcrossing.com’s latest newsletter and a handmade Bookcrossing card.  I hope she enjoys the book as she travels back to Texas!

Det var ett bra tag sedan jag registrerade bloggen men sedan dess har jag inte riktigt haft lusten eller inspirationen till att skriva något. Nu har jag fått en liten andningspaus i jobbet på några dagar och fått möjlighet att sitta på café och läsa (jobbrelaterat visserligen) och dessutom tagit steget in i BookCrossingvärlden då jag idag lät en ordentligt uppmärkt bok ligga kvar på cafébordet jag lämnade!

Det här med BookCrossing tycker jag är en riktigt rolig idé! Tanken är att man registrerar en bok på BookCrossing.com och sedan släpper den fri. Med andra ord, man lägger den på en offentlig plats där den kan bli upphittad av sin nästa läsare. Den som tar hand om boken går i sin tur in på nätet och anger var boken hittades, läser den och lägger ut den på nytt för att hittas av någon annan och så vidare… På så sätt ska man kunna följa bokens väg till nya läsare och platser.

Frågan är väl hur stor chans det är att någon tar hand om min bok och dessutom registrerar upphittandet. Det är bara att vänta och se. Spännande!

In ambito del progetto “090909” di portare in un unico spazio le proprie competenze per creare sinergie tra differenti professioni, ospitata da LiveAct, Rileggo, la nuova libreria low cost di San Martino, darà vita ad una serie di incontri nello spazio comune “Magazzino X”. L’ex magazzino di giocattoli in Via Torre d’Augusto nel cuore del quartiere di San Martino si trasforma nel mese di novembre in un polo d’arte e cultura, dove Rileggo attiva un servizio di BookCrossing per tutti gli amici della lettura.

Il programma di Rileggo, libri e dischi usati, prevede i mercoledì sera del mese di novembre, una serie di incontri con scrittori locali e non, per dare loro la possibilità di presentare i propri scritti in forma di salotto letterario. Inoltre, per coloro che credo che lo spirito di un libro cresca ogni volta che un nuovo sguardo si posa selle sue pagine, Rileggo attiva un servizio di BookCrossing direttamente all’interno di Magazzino X. Ogni lettore potrà portare il suo volume e lasciarlo lì per prenderne un altro, a sua volta il libro lasciato sarà preso in custodia da un altro amante della lettura.

Gli eventi in programma sono molti, è prevista la presentazione di “The wall and the city / Il muro e la città / Le mur et la ville” a cura di Andrea Mubi Brighenti. Il primo libro edito da professionaldreamers, un progetto neonato, un’associazione che si occupa di ricerca e pubblicazioni su spazio e società. Il libro nasce come conseguenza di un seminario tenuto a Trento nel giugno del 2008, in seno all’evento “Città al muro”, collaterale a Manifesta.

Un appuntamento da non perdere è la presentazione di “Costumi tradizionali dell’Alto Adige”, ed. Reverdito di Uta Radakovick, responsabile stampa Italia di Alto Adige Marketing.
La cultura altoatesina è ancor oggi molto legata all’uso dell’abito tradizionale: il Tracht. Ne esiste uno ufficiale (sia maschile sia femminile) e poi diverse varianti, ciascuna caratteristica di una determinata vallata. Indossare il costume significa atteggiarsi secondo precisi canoni di comportamento. L’autrice conduce il lettore in un viaggio coinvolgente alla scoperta degli splendidi costumi dell’Alto Adige, raccontando attraverso di essi le radici culturali, il folclore e la gente di questa meravigliosa regione. Il volume è organizzato in una parte introduttiva dedicata alla descrizione in dettaglio degli elementi dell’abito tradizionale femminile e maschile, delle stoffe, degli accessori. Seguono poi dieci capitoli dedicati ad altrettante vallate o aree regionali sudtirolesi in cui il costume acquisisce caratteristiche peculiari. A completare il volume una serie di indirizzi utili per scoprire dove è possibile acquistare i costumi e gli accessori e le date delle feste e delle manifestazioni in cui abitualmente il costume viene indossato.

Pietro Acler presenta invece il suo nuovo libro “I ragazzi di Odenberg”, pubblicato dalla casa editrice romana Gaffi editore. Pietro Acler, autore trentino già cimentatosi con la scrittura per l’infanzia, propone ad un pubblico di adulti e ragazzi una storia difficile e dolce. Si tratta di un lungo racconto ambientato in una piccola comunità altoatesina, nel paesino di Odenberg, località immaginaria e simbolica di un Sudtirolo mai di maniera. Protagonisti tre ragazzini che incrociano le loro giovanissime vite con eventi e complessità molto più grandi di loro. Sullo sfondo, e al tempo stesso motore dell’azione, la storia degli adulti che li circondano, più o meno consapevoli, più o meno ragionevoli, più o meno innocenti.

La rassegna di incontri con l’autore si concluderà mercoledì 25 novembre con la presentazione di “23 fotografi” (Storie e immagini del Trentino che cambia), editore: Il Margine. Si tratta del nuovo libro di Andrea Tomasi, 36 anni, giornalista di professione (l’Adige). Le storie di chi racconta le storie con la macchina fotografica: di chi sono gli occhi che ci inquadrano al di là dell’obiettivo, come hanno imparato a fissare la realtà in immagini, com’è cambiato il Trentino negli ultimi cinquant’anni, attraverso i giornali e i fotoreporter che fanno la cronaca. E un pezzo di storia. Quella volta che Salomon, in Africa per la Rai, fu rapito dai guerriglieri. Quella volta che Giorgio Rossi, il decano dei fotoreporter trentini, incontrò l’assassino di Vetriolo. Quel 19 luglio 1985 quando 268 vite furono inghiottite dal fango di Stava. E ancora: l’alluvione del ‘66, i record di Francesco Moser, le curve di Miss Italia Claudia Andreatti. E, oltre la cronaca e le storie raccontate a tutti, per la prima volta i fotogiornalisti trentini raccontano se stessi, i loro amori e i loro segreti, e le tante strade diverse che li hanno portati ad appassionarsi di un mestiere speciale: professione reporter.

Rileggo non si limiterà a promuovere la cultura letteraria nel senso stretto, è previsto l’evento “La cultura della montagna” in cui, Massimo Faletti, guida alpina trentina, 40 anni, presenta la montagna come iter di viaggio e di avventura, con presentazioni audiovisive. Sarà un’occasione per visitare luoghi bellissimi, ma anche per conoscere tutte le possibilità che il nostro arco alpino e l’Italia offrono per l’arrampicata. La montagna sarà vista come priorità globale dell’umanità e Rileggo metterà a disposizione parte della ricca produzione letteraria dedicata alla montagna. Anche i temi del viaggio e dell’avventura, alla montagna indissolubilmente correlati, verranno affrontati dal punto di vista storico, sociologico, letterario, artistico e sportivo per sensibilizzare i cittadini, ma anche l’ente pubblico alla tutela e alla promozione culturale della montagna.

Inoltre, come filo conduttore della storia del quartiere di San Marino e della nascita di “090909”, sarà proiettato, per la prima volta, il “Video su SanMartino e fotogrammi” di Fabrizio Contino Gravantes, nato a Palermo. Ottenuta la maturità artistica, Fabrizio si specializza in grafica pubblicitaria e fonda un atelier di grafica con alcuni colleghi. Inizia a collaborare con alcune case editoriali. Contemporaneamente organizza mostre ed eventi fotografici insieme ad alcune associazioni fotografiche della città. Si trasferisce a Roma e comincia a lavorare in ambito cinematografico collaborando con direttori della fotografia e registi di Cinecittà. Dopo un lungo periodo di mostre e set, lascia Roma e si trasferisce a Trento, dove tuttora risiede e lavora. Si tratta di un breve video che riprende vari momenti e vari scorci di San Martino. Fabrizio ha filmato tutti i momenti e gli eventi legati a 09, ma anche tutti i microeventi che si sono verificati nel quartiere nell’ultimo periodo, dopo essersi documentato sulla storia del quartiere. Attraverso il suo video scrive parte della storia odierna della nostra evoluzione.

En una experiencia piloto en España, se han "liberado" 5.000 libros por calles, plazas, restaurantes, pubs, tiendas, centros comerciales y locales, para que sean recogidos por los transeúntes y los hagan "circular" de nuevo una vez leídos. Esta iniciativa se enmarca en el movimiento ciudadano conocido como Bookcrossing, que consiste en abandonar un libro en un lugar público para que algún desconocido pueda cogerlo, leerlo y después volver a dejarlo en otro sitio para que lo encuentre otro lector.

El estadounidense Ron Hornbaker concibió la idea de Bookcrossing en marzo del 2001 inspirado por Where’s George?, una web para seguir el recorrido de billetes. La web de Bookcrossing fue lanzada alrededor de un mes después, el 17 de abril del 2001. Se ha desarrollado como un movimiento global, que en 2009 cuenta con más de 750.000 miembros en todo el mundo y más cinco millones de libros registrados en su base de datos. Desde agosto del 2004, el Concise Oxford Dictionary recoge la palabra "bookcrossing", dando la definición que actualmente tiene.

Well, obviously this week was dominated by Dewey’s 24 hour read-a-thon. You can’t have missed it! Not only if you’re a visitor of Graasland: we also made it a trending topic on Twiter. Yay!

I had a lot of fun, but it was much more difficult than I had expected. From the total of 24 hours I’ve slept six and a half — the rest was spent on the event (except for some eating and stuff). Because of that my totals seem a bit meager!

I couldn’t keep track of time spent behind my computer, but it didn’t feel as if I was cheering or blogging or twittering too much. Was there no other bookish stuff going on this week, you ask? Of course! I finished Be With You (Takuji Okigawa) just before the read-a-thon started. I absolutely loved it! I will be adding it to my Japanese Literature Challenge so you might look forward to a review.

And I bought another book (thinking I could read the novella during the read-a-thon, dôh): Silk, by Alessandro Baricco, in Dutch: Zijde. Unfortunately the book cover is not original but shows the movie poster… I don’t like it when publishers do that! I do not plan to see the film; here’s what Mee wrote about it.

And last but not least: our Bookcrossing Monopoly mission was ‘restaurant’, so De Boekenleggers released a Dutch copy of Como Agua Para Chocolate (Rode Rozen en Tortilla’s) at the moped of a Mexican Delivery Boy. Have you seen it crossing Utrecht city? We know it has been caught, but unfortunately there’s no journal entry yet!

Bei der wöchentlichen Tour eines immer noch viel Holzmedien verschlingenen Haushaltes zum Altpapiercontainer lag dort letztens dieser Klassiker der empirischen Sozialpsychologie aus.

Leider ist der Inhalt nach wie vor aktuell. Die von Adorno mit entwicklte F-Skala erfasst Persönlichkeitsmerkmale für die Anfälligkeit für totalitäre Politik (“implizite antidemokratische Tendenzen u. Faschismuspotential”) In der FR wurde im September 2009 gefragt, ob es den autoritären Charakter noch gibt. Dazu wurde der F-Skala Fragebogen online gestellt (dort gibt es ihn noch als pdf zum download!) Die Auswertung – die natürlich aufgrund der sehr speziellen Zusammensetzung (FR-lesende Onliner … nicht so wirklich repräsentativ genug für wissenschaftliche Aussagen ist – findet sich hier.

Anlass der FR-Geschichte zu den Studien zum Autoritären Charakter war die Ausstellung

“Die Frankfurter Schule und Frankfurt – Eine Rückkehr nach Deutschland”

im Jüdischen Museum in Frankfurt, wo sie noch bis zum 10. Januar 2010 zu sehen ist.

Ich bin inzwischen zu der festen Überzeugung gelangt, dass der ausgesetzte Adorno ein Bookcrossing Projekt war (Ich habe es mir nicht näher angesehen, um nach der BCID zu suchen, da ich den Titel in meinem Regal stehen habe Das Auswildern von eigenen Buchbeständen, um anderen Menschen auf diese Weise einen Zugang zu ermöglichen, ist ja aber auch denkbar, indem es einfach aus dem Regal geholt wird  – und statt in den Altpapiercontainer hinein auf ihn hinauf gelegt wird. Ich hoffe, dass dieser Adorno einen Finder hat glücklich machen können.

• Escoge un libro que ya hayas leido y te haya gustado muchisimo.

• En la primera hoja en blanco escribe una dedicación o el objetivo de que liberaste ese libro e incentivarlo a que cuando termine de leerlo, el tambien lo libere y siga llegando a otras personas.
  

• Liberalo lo puedes regalar a un amigo/a, lo dejas olvidado en alguna cafeteria, en un banco, parque simplemente “olvidalo” para que alguién lo encuentre.

Esta idea nació de Bookcrossing es un movimiento a nivel global de liberación de libros, es gratuito y no tiene limites geográficos.

Cuenta hasta la fecha con alrededor de 400,000 miembros, y ya son casi 2 millones y medio de libros liberados en todo el mundo.

You’d be amazed how many books amass when you’re a bookworm. Honestly, books seem to be magnetically attracted to me and they accumulate in my flat in vast numbers – and some of them I know I will never read.  (It’s like I have a book tree growing out of control in my flat!) When I get them, I fully intend to dive in between the pages, but sometimes, just sometimes, I’ll start a book and know pretty quickly that there’s no way I’m going to finish it – either I’m not enjoying it for some reason, or my tastes have changed since I got hold of it, or it’s a sequel which I got hold of at the same time as the first book in the series, but didn’t enjoy the first one and so I now have no interest in following it up.

As a result of all this, I have an entire bookcase of books that consist of those I have read but am not keeping and those I have not read and never will. Over 100 of them are listed for sale at GreenMetropolis.com, but there were quite a few others that were very large and/or and would cost a fortune to post out, making listing them at GreenMetropolis pointless as I’d actually be out-of-pocket (not that I list them there for profit, but it’s nice to at least be able to cover the postage costs without pricing them out of the second hand market!).

So, what would I do with the large, heavy books I had decided not to sell? Well, last week I donated four carrier bags of them to a charity shop – I walked down George Street with the bags in the base of the buggy and stopped in at several shops before I finally found one willing to take them. Rather than go through all that again, I decided to try something  little different.

I have had an account at BookCrossing.com for a few years now and have periodically registered books there that I had listed at swap sites (like BookMooch.com), but, like I’ve already said, these were hefty tomes and the postage rates would be exorbitant so I didn’t want to list them for Moochers (I’ll reserve that for small paperbacks). So, I’ve listed over thirty books at BookCrossing (as many as I had labels printed out) and will be taking them all to a local BookCrossing site over my next few trips into town.

So, if you are interested in picking up a book to read free of cost and are in the Aberdeen area, get down to The Belmont Picture House and nip downstairs to the cafe bar – that’s where I’ll be leaving them.
