I’m a long-time Delicious.com user. For anyone not familiar with it, Delicious is a “soc

I’m a long-time Delicious.com user.

For anyone not familiar with it, Delicious is a “social bookmarking” site that stores your bookmarks on the web – which makes them accessible from anywhere with internet access. It’s “social” because anyone can see my public bookmarks, just as I can see theirs. You can also see what tags they used to describe the content they’re bookmarking, who and how many people have bookmarked a given web page, and more… all of which can lend a measure of credibility to information sources, and can help you spot trends.

Through the magic of RSS, Delicious also makes it easy to subscribe to bookmarks by user and/or tag, which can be pretty darned handy. For example, I recently subscribed to Chris Brogan’s “CaseStudy” tag… so every time Chris bookmarks a Case Study he finds useful… I will know about it. I’m practically hard-wired to the guy’s ginormous brain! How cool is that? You have to love the social web!

[If you're reading this and don't already know who Chris Brogan is... I like to think of him as the Santa Claus of Social Media. Check out @ChrisBrogan and ChrisBrogan.com.]

I suspect I am a fairly typical Delicious user. I bookmark tons of stuff on Delicious — more often than not — for some kind of ambiguous, unknown, unpredicted “future reference”. When tagging, I try to be as descriptive as possible, while attempting to predict what keywords I will be searching for later on. Over time, my tagging has grown a little sloppy (Typos, changes in the way I tag certain phrases, etc). I’ll get around to cleaning it all up one day. No. Really.

Anyway, to get to the point, my tagging habits have been changing lately, as I continue to strive to become more efficient and more productive. I thought some of you might be interested in the new methods I’ve developed for myself in the process:

Tagging with twitter names: Whether it’s the author of original content, someone I follow on twitter who was mentioned in an article, or the generous tweep who shared the link… I tend to connect good information to people. If they’ve written, inspired or shared good information… they’re bound to do so again.

The Back Burner: Several of my more recent Delicious tags are short-form names for projects I have on the back burner, or am preparing to start at some point in in the not-too-distant future. Unfortunately, tags like “tp360″ “teej” and “s101″ are pretty much meaningless to anyone who might happen to be browsing or searching my bookmarks (sorry!), but they will be invaluable to me when I get to the stage of organizing/planning the project in question.

If you’re a Delicious user, I would love to learn about your tagging habits, or how they are evolving. Please drop me a comment below.

Do you want to make money with adsense? Well, first of all you’ll need to sign up as a publish

Do you want to make money with adsense? Well, first of all you’ll need to sign up as a publisher so Google can send you your earnings every month. Once you are approved as a publisher you will be able to monetize your sites with adsense providing they comply with Google’s terms of service.

Here are 5 steps you can follow to make money with adsense:

1) Choose A High Paying Niche – What I recommend you do here is choose a niche that has an upper range above a dollar and a lower range no lower than 50 cents. This is the amount the advertisers pay and you will be receiving a percentage of the revenue that Google charges.

2) Do Keyword Research – You will then need to do keyword research and pick out a number of keywords to build pages around for this site. You want your site pages to be well themed, so take care to choose keywords that are both relevant and don’t have so much competition that you have no chance of ranking for them in the search engines.

3) Build Your Site – You can either choose a site building tool or use a html editor to do this. You will also need a template so you can populate the site with content and include menu navigation on a side panel.

4) Promote Your Site – I recommend you use a mixture of directory submissions, article marketing, bookmarking and getting links from sites in your niche. At this stage don’t monetize your site with Adsense. Hold off until the site is indexed and getting traffic from the search engines and your other promotion efforts.

5) Optionally Flip Your Site – This is where you can take things to the next level. Once your site is matured and steadily earning, consider selling your site and using that cash to fund making more sites. You will make more money from 5 sites than you will from one, so if cashflow is an issue consider this step to ramp up your earnings over the long term.

In today’s blog I talk about the pro’s and con’s of bookmarking. In generally, is bookmarking a way

In today’s blog I talk about the pro’s and con’s of bookmarking. In generally, is bookmarking a way to mark your favourite websites. After making the bookmark you will be able to find the shortcut to the requested page in your bookmark menu. Before I start talking about it I will again ask you to see this short end easy video about bookmarking.

Bookmarking is an easy accessible tool for me because of various reasons. Firstly, there is the fact that you do not have to spend time searching or typing in a lot of website addresses because your only one click removed from your favourite sites. Secondly, the bookmarks can be stored on a website suitable for it so you can open them anywhere. Finally, you are able to see how other tagged there bookmarks and share common interest and websites.

There are not many things that I can find wrong about bookmarking. However, there are a few downsides on bookmarking. For instance, if you only bookmark on your own pc you get lost as soon as you use another one and also if you do save them online but the site crashes. In fact, I believe that people sometimes do not even remember to go to some sites because they always used the bookmark technique. On another point, there is the fact that sometimes you are interested in let say old movies but you do not want others to know that. Your bookmarks can tell on you.

After purchase the software from Nossie’s site, I received an e-mail acquainted the download info, and the forum URL to accumulator on it. healthy get a link to watch a very comprehensive bookmarkwiz discount video tutorial too. You aerosol context your license of bookmarkwiz only on ace computer.

Unless wholesome want to confirm all captchas by hand, healthy have to subscribe attain a captcha change service. I recommend decaptcher since they are the cheapest. I too signed up reach BeatCaptchas, paying if it’s a bit expensiver. in way, if decaptcher is overloaded, bookmarkwiz will automaticaly switch to beatcaptchas.

The only setup salubrious have to do is enter your decaptcha login info, your beatcaptchas / bypasscaptchas keys, and salubrious are ready. Using proxies bookmarkwiz support privately and private (authenticated) proxies. If salubrious are going to create a lot of accounts, I highly recommend to context proxies, private ones are better.Account creation

Bookmarkwiz is really a wonderful tool for all your social bookmarking needs. It’s fast and very simple to use. His ability to auto create accounts seriously rocks, and that’s something his main competitor, BMD doesn’t do. Plus it’s stable and the submissions rarely fails. If wholesome are hesitating between Bookmarking Demon and bookmarkwiz review, don’t think twice, and obviously go for bookmarkwiz, as Bookmarking Demon doesn’t support decaptcher.

What is Bookmarking Quite simply Bookmarking pages means that if you have a favourite page and you d

What is Bookmarking

Quite simply Bookmarking pages means that if you have a favourite page and you don’t want to remember all your the addresses this button is a simple way of storing all your favourite pages in one place.

Why as a Seller should I bookmark pages?

We all want our products to sell at the highest price attainable and in the shortest time possible,to achieve this our adverts must be seen by as many people as possible. Whilst we at Hi-Fiadverts do as much as possible in the way of marketing and site optimisation there is still room for your to help market you products through Social Bookmarking.

Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking is a legitimate way of showing your adverts to the world. This is done by saving your adverts as a bookmark on one of the many social bookmarking sites. This then creates a link to your advert that the search engines pick up on and add you advert to their search results so now when people do a search on your advert keywords your advert will be seen.

There is another advantage with Social Bookmarking, the way search engines work is to give higher priority to pages with more external links. This means that they will prioritise your advert over someone elses advert that is selling the exact same product. Of course it is needless to say but the more social bookmark sites you use the better the results you will see in links to you adverts.

Which Social Bookmarking sites to use?

We have found the best sites to use in terms of speed and ranking are as follows:

www.digg.com

www.folkd.com

www.oneview.com

www.linkagogo.com

www.spotback.com

www.delicious.com

www.furl.com

Tags and Keywords

We have also found that using Tags and Keywords is very important in the number and quality of the links to your advert. As an example lets say we are selling a interconnect cable these are the tags or keywords we would use:

hi fi, audio, av, manufacturer, product, length, second hand, used, high end, advert, for sale, interconnect, cable, location.

We hope that this introduction to Social Bookmarking has helped you and now can advertise your products more effectivly.

StumbleUpon updated its social bookmarking service last week and one of the key improvements was search. Users can now search within their favorites, friend’s favorites or the entire site. The search was enhanced using community ratings and reviews.

Additional updates include UI and social features. The UI is simpler and more minimalistic. It’s cleaner and just looks easier to use. On the social side of things, StumbleUpon says it’s now easier to find your friends. They’re also following the trend of Twitter and Facebook by enabling near real-time updates.

OLD is GOLD is old; in with all new Web2.0 to make way for faster and better marketing technology. S

OLD is GOLD is old; in with all new Web2.0 to make way for faster and better marketing technology. Some of the most use websites on Web are the ones used as part of Web 2.0era. These sites include: MySpace, Squidoo, Digg, Delicious, Wikipedia, Flickr, etc. these are social Websites that are covered in various categories. These include social search engines, multimedia related sites, blogs, bookmarking, social networking, news, podcasts and more.

There are many benefits to social media marketing. One can get great back links to the desired site by exposing your site; rank your site for keywords, and network with people of same interest. Make sure to make network with those which have similar interest and subsequently linking and promoting the business content in an organized manner.

This new and next wave of Internet marketing comprises of Web2.0 that makes thousands of visitors visit a desired site without much effort. It is more of an interacting medium where people talk by giving their views about a particular site and keep coming back for more responses. Part of traffic also works as information provides, thereby sharing some more important information, say through Wikipedia and other informative sites. This addition of information is possible due to its ability of interaction with their visitors for adding matters that are relevant and deleting that is irrelevant.

Therefore, Web2.0 is not just traffic. It creates long term effects on the minds of visitors as it focuses on utilizing Next Generation SEO technique. This process of utilizing Next Generation technique helps in achieving vertical and lateral search engine visibility on all major search engines.

Web 2.0 is not gaining popularity because it is new, rather it is the benefits that a particular website is gaining that makes it stand apart in its qualities:

1)	Achieve high organic ranking for the desired website
2)	Branded contents are syndicated in major search engine directories
3)	Conversion of URL from static to dynamic by introducing new content
4)	Increase the quantity and quality of traffic towards desired website and understand the customer base.
5)	Make visitors aware of corporate brand name through proper Web optimization.

Although Web1.0 proved to be sufficient at one time of Internet marketing network, but with growing demand and limited visibility to the websites, Web1.0 is losing its façade and Web 2.0 is gaining popularity by offering fresh, relevant, wide opinion, and consistent content for online searchers.

Let me just say, that I am thoroughly satisfied with my new HootSuite add-on!! Like I had mentioned

Let me just say, that I am thoroughly satisfied with my new HootSuite add-on!! Like I had mentioned in my earlier post, I recently signed up for HootSuite and it has become my favorite Twitter client!!!

And yesterday, HootSuite created an add-on for Firefox!! The add-on is a mini Hootlet dashboard, but what makes it so grand is that you don’t need to copy and paste links anymore, and no more switching back-n-forth from page to page working to set up your next tweet…

Just click on the cute little Owly icon and it will shorten the URL, add descriptive text, then send it to any or all of your twitter accounts!!

WOW, I mean, WOW… how can it get any better!!

If you download the add-on, I must tell you that the HootSuite icon will not show up after restarting Firefox. It’s a little different from most Firefox add-ons in that you will have to manually place it onto your browser.

I’ll tell you how to do it…

Go to View > toolbars > customize > and drag-n-drop the HootSuite owl icon. Then, you’re good to go!!

Check out HootSuite here, if ya like… HootSuite

I will say, the one bad thing with HootSuite is that it does not yet allow you to view or manage your followers. I’ve read that they are working on some ideas to get this feature into the client. But, as I said before, HootSuite is really awesome if your goal is to share with the friends you’ve already got…

I decided to change the title of my blog once more. It is important to acknowledge my librarian root

I decided to change the title of my blog once more. It is important to acknowledge my librarian roots, yet nod to my divergent interests.

In the Learning Commons at Lake Washington Technical College we are piloting an embed project using Delicious to create, effectively, homemade LibGuides. Using existing collection resources we can create a link roll using specific tags associated with programs and class numbers. This permits us to obtain an javascript embed code, which can be given to the instructor who can then paste this same code into their Angel course shell. Any number of items can be gathered into this, including YouTube videos, PDF documents, PowerPoint presentations, and many more.
This method of bookmarking our existing resources (e.g., articles in journals that can be found in our electronic collection) permits compliance with copyright and helps faculty create a remotely accessible course reserve system. Primarily, I think it will be addressed in the following ways:

Create collection inventories by bookmarking periodical and ebook publications at the item level. If these materials are consistently tagged at the item-level, then collection inventories could be created on the fly. The only foreseeable issue would be items added after a first sweep through might not be included, but routine updates could address this issue.

Create course-specific reserves, incorporating material from our existing On-line subscription databases, as well as freely available web content (e.g., videos, audio content, documents).

In effect, this system would create embedded LibGuides, since the listings would be held within the course shell and students would access this information concurrent with their work in Angel.

The Delicious link roll project would look like this: https://lwtclearningcommons.pbworks.com/Delicious-Rolls-%28Library-Database-Mashup%29

I think the idea is to create back ups on the Learning Commons Wiki site, which will serve as a safety net in case Angel goes down.

In the initial phase of this project, I had lots of questions (see comments section, “New Tags for Embed Project”), many which will be answered over the life of the project. This is an interesting project, because it is an attempt at creating resource lists and an electronic reserve system for faculty and students from an existing On-line and freely available technology, Delicious.

I still do have lots of questions that need answers. Using this system of creating electronic reserves for courses are we in compliance with copyright? Are there any privacy and copyright issues involved in making course-level content discoverable? Where does this system intersect with the library catalog system? Is there a way to bookmark library records for items currently in our collection?

I think these are important questions to consider and resolve as this project moves forward and I am excited to participate in such a project.

Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks o

Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources. Unlike file sharing, the resources themselves aren’t shared, merely bookmarks that reference them.

Descriptions may be added to these bookmarks in the form of metadata, so that other users may understand the content of the resource without first needing to download it for themselves. Such descriptions may be free text comments, votes in favor of or against its quality, or tags that collectively or collaboratively become a folksonomy. Folksonomy is also called social tagging, “the process by which many users add metadata in the form of keywords to shared content”.

In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.

Most social bookmark services encourage users to organize their bookmarks with informal tags instead of the traditional browser-based system of folders, although some services feature categories/folders or a combination of folders and tags. They also enable viewing bookmarks associated with a chosen tag, and include information about the number of users who have bookmarked them. Some social bookmarking services also draw inferences from the relationship of tags to create clusters of tags or bookmarks.

Many social bookmarking services provide web feeds for their lists of bookmarks, including lists organized by tags. This allows subscribers to become aware of new bookmarks as they are saved, shared, and tagged by other users.

A new social bookmarking tool is being developed named Toobla. Most notably different from delicious.com is the way it stores bookmarks – in visual thumbnails, making it easier to locate the site you want. Toobla also has some other neat features such as the following:

“Content of any kind can be collected into online folders that users can then easily share with friends via Twitter, Facebook, email or elsewhere on the social web.

Users can also create their own mashups of their favorite content, putting multiple things into a single widget which they can post to their blog, MySpace, Facebook or any site online.”

I haven’t set up my own account yet, but looking through other “popular” visual folders has been a neat experience. Anyone use Toobla; have any comments?

Add to Any actually encompasses just about all the ways to socially share something, but Twitter is included. They take care of most everything for you, including the ability to change the colors of the plug-in to match your blog itself

Help readers share, save, bookmark, and email your posts and pages using any service, such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious, and over 100 more social bookmarking and sharing sites. The button comes with AddToAny’s customizable Smart Menu, which places the services visitors use at the top of the menu, based on each visitor’s browsing history.

Localized languages and Google Analytics integration are also part of it. Bookmarking, email and just plain old network sharing are a key part. While not as Web 2.0 slick as some newer ones, this is very comprehensive. Considering it is download a couple thousand times per day, you might want to take a look and see if the features are what you need for your WordPress based blog.

Making my Web experience Delicious

Bookmarking online content has become a relatively commonplace activity. I bet if you were to ask a random sampling of Internet users if they have bookmarked content recently, many would answer in the affirmative. With this in mind, I recently made a concerted effort to utilize a pretty nifty bookmarking application called Delicious.

Before I continue, I should preface that I have previously harbored great resistance to Delicious because I did not see its purpose. As I saw things, why would I want to go through the trouble of downloading this application when I already had the power to bookmark online content through my web browser? Well, my friends, here is what helps set Delicious apart from the pack: versatility. Delicious is unique because instead of saving metadata to your computer in the manner that a web browser bookmark would, Delicious saves this data independently from your computer. What this means is that every single webpage you bookmarked is accessible every time you log online, on any computer.

Since I started to work Delicious into my online user experience, I have been impressed. Now that I have taken the first step, I have grown to really like the tool. To make your experience even more user friendly, I highly suggest downloading the Delicious toolbar so you have easy access to Delicious features through a series of several little buttons installed on your standard web browser.

Since I am not someone who is a major bookmarking fiend, I am not necessarily using the full capability that Delicious has to offer. However, if you are one of those people who bookmarks dozens of sites each day, Delicious is very capable of taking on the task of easily organizing and categorizing all this data. Unlike standard web browser bookmarking, Delicious makes it very easy to arrange all bookmarks in precisely the organizational manner you the user sees best to fit your purposes. It all comes back to versatility. Delicious has done well to make bookmarking content a more user-friendly experience.

First off, the FTC can go to hell because both these apps are free.* Second, I have to confess that

First off, the FTC can go to hell because both these apps are free.* Second, I have to confess that I haven’t necessarily used either of these a whole lot, but I will because they’re awesome (I’ve played with them enough to know).

I found out about Posterous through my boss (who you should all get to know, as he seems to find everything). The gist is that you e-mail Posterous whaever you want and it automatically posts, like a blog. It can also automatically post to Twitter, Facebook, WordPress or pretty much anywhere else you can think of. You can start to imagine the journalism/reporting implications from here. My boss passed along this story about TwinCities.com using Posterous to basically power all their UGC for a couple specific events. They explain it all way better at the link, so I’ll let you read about that there. You should also check out Posterous’s FAQ, which will impress upon you how easy and all-encompassing it is.

Update: Here’s an interview Robert Scoble did with Posterous’s founders (Interesting: It’s pronounced “pah-ster-us,” as opposed to “poh-ster-us.” They explain why at the beginning):

The "Read Later" button at the bottom saves to Instapaper.

I just signed up for my Instapaper account this morning; it, too, is extremely simple-yet-useful. Looking at something you want to save for later? Click the little “Read Later” bookmarklet and the page you were looking at saves to your Instapaper account (which you don’t even need a password to sign up for). Now I know this in itself isn’t entirely revolutionary—we’ve all got RSS readers, Delicious accounts or whatever that can fulfill this basic function. The difference is that this is all Instapaper is built for, which makes it a little more user friendly. There are also free and “pro” iPhone apps, which will allow you to read your posts offline, and, if you’re a Tweetie 2 user, T2’s browser lets you save posts directly to Instapaper (see inset).

I’ll admit that Instapaper is a bit of a…luxury item. It’s sort of like having a separate bag for your shoes instead of just jamming everything into your suitcase. But we’re talking about a Web/mobile app here, not material goods and physical space. I’ve actually been using it to help filter my Google Reader—I’ve cherry picked which posts I want to read, put them in Instapaper and “Mark All As Read’ed” the rest.

If I discover any new tricks for these two gems, I’ll post them here.

*Aside: I think anytime anyone blogs about a product just for the sake of telling people about the insane coolness of said product (not because they have a commercial stake in it), the blog should be prefaced with the general formula of that sentence.
