Boom Boom Rocket is a rhythm game for the XBOX Live Arcade where you, the user, have to press the direction of the arrows as they cross the line at the top of the screen, doing so will cause fireworks to go of. This game features a couple of updated classic songs that you will be trying to use your timing to master.

The graphics are simplistic, they look nice, and they don’t take away from the main focus of the game. The fireworks that you use and gain all have a unique look to them and are pleasing to the eye.

The controls are very simple and as so is easy for anyone to pick up and after a round or two feel pretty comfortable with.

The gameplay as stated before is setting off the fireworks right on the line at the top of the screen, do this enough and start a combo, raise your combo high enough and you’ll be score big points while getting to see fireworks go off in on the screen. There’s always the wish for more songs when you’ve mastered all that there is to be seen, but I think that this game is a worthy addition to anyone’s Live Arcade collection. 7.9 out of 10

El juego no es de mi gusto, pero es simplemente por el tipo de juego que es, sin embargo es bien entretenido y cuesta 800 MS Points, además ahora puedes usar la guitarra de Guitar Hero para jugar, interesante.

…officially announced and released today

Microsoft officially announced the Xbox 360 Arcade console earlier today, yet another version of the Xbox 360. Offering it at a much lower price — around $279.99 USD — it is their hope is that come the holiday season shopping, more people/parents will choose this version over Nintendo and Sony’s consoles. Sony has already announced a lower-priced PlayStation 3 model for $399, but Nintendo still has the lowest priced console at $249.99USD, but the lack of consoles available to the consumer continues to make the Wii a popular but rare commodity.

What exactly do you get with this new stripped down version of the 360?? Well its not exactly the Xbox 360 because you can’t play any other 360 games on it, unlike the Core version of the Xbox 360. The morning radio personalities discussed this earlier today and ended up becoming more confused than excited over this announcement. The callers who called into the radio station just made the situation worse with one person saying that now you can plug it in directly to your TV, and that Microsoft’s new focus was using the console at home as opposed to on the road…she definitely was getting her systems mixed up. I think she was talking about the hand-held consoles documentary she had seen and not the new Xbox 360 Arcade console.

What do you get?

• The new console combines a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connector and 256MB of on-board memory.
• Five full games (not the demos) previously only available to Xbox 360 users who signed up for Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade online service: Pac-Man Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenz
• One wireless controller also included.

The limited storage capability may make potential buyers think twice. The Xbox 360 already has two other versions at $349.99USD and $449.99USD respectively, offering a much larger storage capability and limited backward-compatibility with older games for the original Xbox.

In my opinion if the consumer is willing to pay $279.99 for this new version, they should consider paying the extra $70 to get the next version up of the Xbox 360. They would then get to play the other Xbox 360 games instead of just being limited to playing the arcade games. But I must admit that there are a number of really great arcade games available on Xbox live arcade, Boom Boom Rocket being one of them. It was a smart move to include this fun, addictive rhythm game as one of the 5 included free.

A Microsoft confirmou oficialmente o lançamento de uma novo kit de seu console Xbox 360, o Arcade.

O Xbox 360 Arcade tem como objetivo a venda para famílias e jogadores casuais para o fim de ano. O kit vem com cinco jogos da Xbox Live Arcade: Pac-Man Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket e Feeding Frenzy, controle sem fio, cabo HDMI e 256MB de memória (no caso, sem HD), pelo preço de USD 279,99.

Jeff Bell, da Microsoft, comentou que além de oferecer um pacote de entretenimento completo para as famílias se divertirem, o Xbox 360 Arcade oferece configurações líderes de mercado para controle dos pais sobre o que seus filhos assistem e jogam, o que é importante para muitas famílias ao redor do mundo.

A new original title rockets onto Xbox Live Arcade from Bizarre Creations (the creators of the critically acclaimed “Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved”) and publisher Electronic Arts. “Boom Boom Rocket” will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 beginning Wednesday, Apr. 11, at 0900 GMT (2:00 a.m. PDT).

The addictive and original “Boom Boom Rocket” is the first music-rhythm game to appear on Xbox Live Arcade. Players trigger rockets to the beat of the music while traveling through a 3D cityscape. The better the player times the explosions, the more spectacular the fireworks effect. The fireworks are choreographed to 10 original tracks created by Ian Livingstone, who recently scored “Batman Returns” and “Project Gotham Racing 2.”

“Boom Boom Rocket” will be available for 800 Microsoft Points and will first launch in the U.S. Canada, and Europe. The title is rated “E” for Everyone (except in Germany, where it currently is unrated). The game also will be available in the near future in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore Australia, and New Zealand.
