Questo è il report apparso sul blog  Iuter qualche settimana fa , ve lo riporto così come l’ha scritto Olaf.

Siamo tornati dall’opening dello Skibar di Sappada, il locale preso in gestione da Giacomo Kratter e TeX.
Un po’ tutti gli amici si sono arrampicati sulle alpi bellunesi con la speranza, non disillusa, di bere gratis. La serata è iniziata già verso le cinque del pomeriggio con un ricco buffet, e per molti ha significato passare le successive dodici ore bevendo: peggio di un lavoro!
E parlando di lavoro, è stato buffo vedere Giacomo dall’altra parte del bancone, intento a spillare birre e servire vodka (di tanto in tanto, tutto nello stesso bicchiere…),  mentre noi altri ci divertivamo facendoci cock block a vicenda, talvolta addirittura auto-cockbloccandoci. Finita la serata allo Skibar, la forza di gravità ha portato i più temerari giù a valle, alla baita degli Alpini (o qualcosa del genere), per interminabili partite di beer bong.
Sappiamo che a Sappada stanno preparando un ottimo park, e  potendo snowboardare tutto il giorno e fare festa la sera allo Skibar… Beh, sicuro questo inverno a Sappada ci passeremo spesso!

As bandas Gogol Bordello e Super Furry Animals, foram as atrações do último dia 10 de Novembro em São Paulo, no Indie Rock Festival. Faltavam exatamente 15 minutos para as 22h quando adentreu no Via Funchal para garantir um lugar na festa particular que logo estava para acontecer.

Mal sabia eu e os demais “felizardos” no local que assim que começou o primeiro show, São Paulo e mais 8 Estados brasileiros e mais o Paraguai, acabavam de sofrer um blackout. Não deu para sentir, nem piscaram as luzes da casa de shows. Ouvi comentários que apenas no banheiro foi percebida a queda de energia. Se bem que Eugene Hütz (líder do Gogol Bordello) havia falado logo de início que estávamos no escuro no país inteiro e que éramos sortudos por estarmos naquele lugar, na festa particular que era só nossa.

Bem, vamos aos shows.

O Super Furry Animals começou lentamente, fazendo um show concentrado em clássicos e também do seu último disco “Dark Days/Light Years”. O setlist foi bem curto, “Slow Life”, “(Drawing) Rings Around The World”, “Golden Retriever”, “Hello Sunshine”, “Justaposed With You”, “Mountain People”, “Zoom!”, “Inaugural Tramps”, “The Very Best Of Neil Diamond”, “White Socks-Flip Flops”, “The Man Don’t Give a Fuck” e “Cosmic Trigger”.

Gruff Rhys cantava segurando placas escrito “Obrigado”, “Danke”, “75%” (em alusão a música “Inaugural Trams”) e também utilizava-se de objetos para fazer sons experimentais.

O show do Super Furry foi excelente, pena que foi curto. A banda é do tipo que entra totalmente no conceito “indie” de ser. Me lembrou nesse show a australiana The Triffids, soa muito parecida com eles. Nota 10 para o show.

Depois do experimentalismo, veio a grande festa. O Via Funchal tremeu com o público acompanhando todas as músicas do Gogol Bordello. A banda veio ao Brasil pela segunda vez, a primeira também foi um sucesso, em 2008 no TIM Festival, mas dessa vez, era particupar, só para fãs. Já mandaram logo de cara, sucessos como “Ultimate”, “Not a Crime” e “Wonderlust King”. Não se via espaço entre as músicas, acabava uma, já começavam a próxima. “Tribal Connection”, “Start Wearing Purple” (cantada em uníssono) também fizeram o público de 4 mil pessoas dançar e cantar. Primeiro bis, parecia que a banda iria embora mesmo, foram até a grade cumprimentar os fãs, eu fui um dos que estava na grade, pude trocar algumas palavras rápidas naquele momento. Muitos “obrigados” ditos pelos membros, felizes com o dever cumprido. Passaram-se uns 3 minutos, até que Eugene reaparece no palco, brincando com o público. Pega o violão e toca solo no início a música “Alcohol”, depois acompanhado por Yuri (acordeon) e Sergey (violino). Ainda veio um medley emendando uma música na outra, ignorando o acender das luzes do Via Funchal forçando o final do show, já a 1h30 da manhã. Após o fim do show, todos desceram novamente até o público, cumprimentaram, tiraram fotos rápidas, alguns ganharam setlists, outros palhetas, a maioria se retirava satisfeita. Os que ficaram foram presenteados com a volta de Eugene até a grade, conversando com os fãs, tirando fotos, com todos, sem exceção, que pediam por atenção. Show nota 10 também. Confesso que eu mesmo no dia seguinte estava rouco, cansado, mas com sentimento de ainda querer estar lá. Shows desse tipo você nunca quer que termine. Só digo mais uma coisa: “Volte logo Gogol Bordello, o Brasil vocês já conquistaram”.

Day one was nothing by script work.  Good, but day two was the good stuff!  I mean, on day one, I got to make out with April Flores and that was G-R-E-A-T.  But now we are REALLY getting down to the dirty and hawt stuff!  My film partners were Carson and Vid Tuesday.

First up – Carson and I.  Cute little thing with a sweet/sassy inner fire.  Yeah…..that was fun!  I got to pound the shit out of her.  It was hot, steamy, and she got introduced to Junior.

Next and the last scene of the day – Vid Tuesday and I.  Sophia St. James + Vid Tuesday + candlestick and wax = a damn sexy, hot, smokin’ time.  If you don’t know of the many things that candlesticks can be used for, then be sure to pay close attention to our scene in the movie.  I think we covered lots of ground .  Here is a photo for your viewing plesasure-

THANK YOU Courtney Trouble for having me be a part of this film.  It was fabulous and professional and playful and REAL. Trust.  The sex was real!!!

It. Was. Fabulous.

After a trek on BART from Oakland to the San Francisco location, I arrived to a group of people chatting and hanging out.  Courtney Trouble is so gracious and cute.  She hugged me immediately.  I then met April Flores and Billy Castro.  Two hot ass folks…phew!  I knew both of them were beautiful people, but seriously…their photos don’t do them justice.  They are absolutely stunning!  I then head down the hallway towards two hot guys, James and Vid Tuesday (Vid Tuesday, by the way, is one of my sexual partners in the film.).  Then I enter a room with a MUA doing up Joline.  I cannot believe how beautifully gorgeous the entire cast of ‘Bordello’ is.

Believe it or not, I’m pretty shy.  Well…..not shy, just quiet.  I like to take it in.  Enjoy the conversation and obverse.  And that’s what I did.  As I was getting dressed, in walks Tina Horn, Carson, and Akira.  All three stunning and powerful.  Joline is this amazon goddess at 5′11″ in FLATS and has a wonderful style all her own.  I was pretty mesmerized at how HAWT the cast of Bordello was.  I mean I knew some of the cast members were hot and all, but their personalities and sense of humor made them much more fabulous.

The set of Bordello was amazing.  What did it look like?  You will just have to wait until the release, which I will let everyone know when that is.  Just know you will be very sad and upset if you DO NOT see this film!

even after missing a flight, dealing with two more (actually unexpectedly pleasant) flights and so much potential for delay and missing the last bart into the city etc… there i was. oh, california. three hours behind and  i was already feeling better. but maybe that was because i knew what was in my future: LAZERZZZZZ.

LOTZ N LOTZ OF LAZERZZZZ, thanks to ms. ultraviolet! the holiday weekend brought only one event – and only one was needed – to my bassface: redline’s bordello takeover aka reach for the lazers. it absolutely went off in every positive way possible. everywhere you looked – there were people. every little creepy nook and cranny of that creepy house that somehow works as the best venue everrrr – was full of people.

sometimes i forget that this blog is strictly about the music, not the event… but eprom’s live set is an event you do not want to miss if you’re a fan of good music. just in case you didn’t know… and if you already did? big up.

A few weeks ago, I blogged about a recent OKCupid! blog about race factoring into member preference in dating. I felt that while the methods of data measurement were suspect, it opened up an interesting dialogue on racial relations and preferences in America post-Obama election.

Oh, America.

Too bad that these conversations are few and far between, as we continue to see a blatant prejudice in partner preference. In my occasional strolls online, I waded through the gutter known as the Craigslist Personals. And boy, there were some doozies that made me want to bite kneecaps.

For example, a coffee lover wrote:

I’m spending the day relaxing and regrouping. Later in the evening, I’m planning on going to one of the several Starbucks in town. And I wouldn’t mind some company that could lead to a friend with benefits and/or something more situation.

So I look forward to hearing from you. Please include a picture.

Damn. At age 29, I barely missed the cut-off for her requirements. Also, I’m not WHITE.

I know that people have their ideal partner picked out in their minds, but most mask their racial hang-ups behind polite remarks about “having conservative values,” “thinking that Tucson, Arizona is too liberal” (true story) and similar treats.

I think that the next online dating ad I write will weed out unwanted correspondences by including that I seek a “single female with GYNORMOUS HOO-HOOS.” After all, having big ol’ breasteses automatically means that a woman is infinitely more desirable and therefore better as a human being than someone with only decent breasticles.

You can replace the breast talk with race, and this analogy still applies.

Hey, speaking of race (STILL? I know, impatient reader. I’m almost done.), here’s another shining pillar of humanity wondering where all the sexy tall black men at:

I am trying to find out where all the sexy black men hang out. I am looking for a black man that embraces his roots and is not trying to act white. A man that can get down at the club and rub up on me or just chill and watch a game. I like a man that knows what he wants and goes after it.

*sigh*

Let’s break this down:

1. I am trying to find out where all the sexy black men hang out.

Looking on Craigslist for the super-secret hang out of the sexy black men is the first mistake. At best, you’ll find a moderately decent black man, and they sure as hell won’t divulge where the sexy black man clubhouse is. (Hint: it ain’t in Scottsdale, where this person lives.) Second, thinking that there is some forest meadow where sexy black men frolic is the most ignorant thing I’ve read in some time — and that includes the racist Louisiana judge with “piles” of black friends. I honestly hope she finds this mystical fairytale of a black man bordello, and is kicked out on her face.

2. I am looking for a black man that embraces his roots and is not trying to act white.

I am punching a pillow as I write this. It hurts. SO MUCH.

I am curious about what constitutes these “roots” that are so desperately in need of embracing. Considering that the person asking thinks there is an invisible fortress where black men are bringing sexy back, I would guess that these “roots” include the common images of black men that they probably internalize: being straight-up gangsta and acting hard, using slang as the main form of communication, dressing in such ways that a crazy-ass white person wouldn’t dress, and having a comical hatred for the white man.

I’ve dealt with ignorant people that had ill-conceived ideas of black people my whole life. From kids wondering why I didn’t listen to rap music, to being mistaken for British because I pronounce my words, I’ve had my own uphill battle with those that grouped black people by media-forced images. Some of my friends have joked with me about this. I’ve had black peers in junior high and high school pretend to be my friends while hurting me emotionally and physically, making me the butt of their jokes. Even my ex-girlfriend (a Hungarian woman) made an unfortunate “joke” about me acting white despite being black. Her comment hurt more than nearly any other, as I gave her my love and trust, and got an ignorant comment in return.

And then there are those that have called me that delightful n-word simply based on the color of my skin. Those were the worst experiences of all.

So these “roots” are those that can never be escaped. As for black men that “act white?” That is an unfortunate viewpoint of a person so shallow, ignorant and with little insight, it magnifies the problems that we ALL face as a culture — not just the black community, which has a deep-seated problem with putting down people of their own heritage due to low self-esteem brought on by self-hatred from themselves, their families, friends, the black community and negative stereotypes. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

You want a black man who won’t “act white.” How about you stop acting like a bigot?

3. A man that can get down at the club and rub up on me or just chill and watch a game.

Is that all black men are good for — grinding on your dumb ass at the club or enjoying sports? Well, DAMN MASSA! Break out the leash, because I wants to please you at the club, MISS! I loves me some basketball, miss! I don’t have the insight to enjoy other activities that require mental or physical exertion besides putting that orange ball through the hoop! Oh LAWD!

Seriously, get out more.

4. I like a man that knows what he wants and goes after it.

Does this include a sexy black man that knows that he wants a 40-ounce and steals it? Because based on this shit I’ve been reading so far, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I would LOVE to see the responses this Craigslist ad gets, especially if it’s one of these imaginary sexy black men that congregate in secret, waiting to be found by dim-witted women from Scottsdale that hate those white-acting Negroids.

This stuff is why race will continue to be an issue in dating — let alone American society — for a long time to come. While it’s good to weed out the racist idiots for what they are, the prevalence for such attitudes — and the brazen confidence to display it openly — shows that we are far from the racial progress some people believe we have achieved because a black man is president of the United States.

Now, I could be wrong, but I see nothing but Fire with these guys.  Eugene Hutz himself – dude is all Fire.  Listening to them makes me want to get up and dance and smile and connect with pretty girls and sweat and be outside in the rain and enjoy the summer heat.  At their concerts, people are laughing and taking in the show and dancing and cheering.  Everyone is THERE!  We’re all in it together, isn’t life GREAT?!

I see no Earth at all.  Same goes for Metal, Water, and Wood.

They make me want to shake my fist in the air – not to damn some man, not to show my support, I want to JOIN THE REVOLUTION, MAN!  I want to be part of all the fun and sex and drunken laughter that feels totally appropriate at these shows.  Would that happen at a Sufjan Stevens concert?

Sex is a challenge. It should be uninhibited, hot, spicy, passionate and diversified. Most couples just have routine in bed: two main positions and everything but not dirty or sexy…
In this Case there needs to be a change. What about a change of the bed room into a SwingerClub or ‘Place of Love’.
You do not need to change a lot, just a few details. Change some normal lights against red ones, put some massage creams and lollipops beside you bed, put champagne beside your bed, take some handcuffs and bounds and it already looks much better.
And then let the games begin. Pretend a ‘Bordello’ visit and play…

Después de andar un sabado mas con tanto ocio en mi casa que lo unico que haci era escuchar música me dedique a buscar posibles conciertos en nuestra ciudad para lo que resta del año descubri que un grupo conformado entra varios por inmigrantes de europa del este me topo con GOGOL BORDELLO, un grupo que radica en Nueva York el sonido de este grupo es punk-gitano que utiliza instrumentos como acordeon, violines y saxofones, es un grupo que trae demasiada energía y que cuando lo escucho me veo con la banda echando un desmadre perverso mientras la cerveza vuela por todo el lugar, pero en fin es un grupo bastante bueno y pues estaran dandose una vuelta por nuestro país el 20 de Noviembre compartiendo escenario con LOS AUTENTICOS DECADENTES(ARGENTINOS) y GONDWANA(CHILENOS) lo cual sin duda ese concierto estara lleno de energia y de buena vibra les recomiendo que lo tomen como opción aunque falte un chingo.

A revista InStyle deste mês mostra a casa da Christina Aguilera em Beverly Hills. Toda a decoração é no estilo bordello-chic, com muitas cores, muitas formas e extremamente feminina… é a casa perfeita para uma pin-up moderna.

Mas o que mais chamou minha atenção foi a “pequena” coleção de sapatos dela, 350 pares e a maioria são Loubuitin’s! É o sonho de qualquer mulher shoeholic.

Germany’s sexiest DJ, Lazard, returns with a video spoof on the Wild West. She’s the DJ at a raucous saloon. The drinks are flowing fast over the bar. The bordello ladies are charming the men. As, the BPMs pick up, so does the rowdiness.

…that all of the kindergartners know how to skip.”  This was actually included in my kindergarten report card. 

I learned a lot of interesting things about myself as I packed up my old room this weekend. I also found a lot of funny things too…but those will have to wait until later this week so I can show them to you. I just need to find my camera cord.  Anyway, back to the weekend of self-discovery. Some things you probably didn’t know about me:

1. As a kindergartner, I could skip (like the rest of my class), but my estimation skills were a cause for concern.  Apparently sets of 30 and 13 blocks looked like pretty much the same to me. Also, I could color in the lines but had a hard time cutting on the lines.

2. While the rest of my fifth grade class said the person they admired most was a parent, grandparent, sibling, or other family member, the person I admired most was Jennifer Grey.  Who am I???

3. In seventh grade I thought I’d grow up to be an architect in California and practice a little marine biology on the side. I still have the floor plans of the dream house I designed. It has a sunken garden.

4. We had to survey one hundred of our friends, classmates, co-workers, etc. about our personality for a psychology project my senior year. Some things I learned: If I was an animal I’d be a flamingo because “Well, you just would. Except I’m afraid you’d fall over if you had to stand on one leg all day.” And if I was a car I’d be a Lincoln Town Car: classy, comfortable, and stylish.  I’m not sure if any of those three words really describe me, but it still makes me laugh.

4. My house was a bordello during prohibition (it was built in 1903) and gangsters like Al Capone would frequent. I know this isn’t really related to me…but a fun fact, learned this weekend, none the less.

5. My friends are keepers.  Anyone who’s willing to take time out of their weekend to help me separate my life into Goodwill, trash, and Nashville piles and keep me laughing during the process is a true gem.  Thanks!

6. I went through a horse phase that was more extensive than I realized. Hello, figurines! Why did I feel the need to collect these, and why did I feel the need to save them after the move into the house in 6th grade? Or when I packed for college.  Also, did I mention the Encyclopedia of Horses?

7. As much as I was embarrassed by Big Wally, I also loved him dearly. I found the photos from our last days together. (If you didn’t know me in high school, you might not know who Big Wally is… I promise to fill you in this week.)

8. I had no shame in wearing zebra pants, hot pink shirts, and silver sequined cowboys hats. At the same time. To school. For a girl who didn’t like a whole lot of attention, that was sure askin’ for a whole lot of attention.

Just found and translated this review of ’shoot to kill’… and the band in general.  We seem to get a lot of press in Spainish speaking countries like Peru, we’ll happily move there.  Just give us the nod!

‘Odio La Música’

There are some musicians who make a terrible effort to please. I think of the poor ones and I imagine Coldplay Chris Martin, even in the bath to try to continue being interesting to his audience of intellectuals – or Paul Mccartney, obliged to sound Beatle until the worms eventually gnaw him

But there are others who seem born to play, Mercury Rev for me and lately Grizzly Bear and M.Ward. But all this digression serves to win time and to present as much as possible about a band I do not know much about. With only a handful of songs on Myspace, they show an unusual naturalness for Rock and Pop that has left me in awe.

To listen to The 66, from Manchester, is to submerge your-self in several decades of the best sound generated in rock. From The Doors to Stone Roses, Pink Floyd and The Music. Until Oasis. Perhaps Daniel Rimmer will quickly be thrown into the light, begin to sound like a Chris Martin, but while it doesn’t I recommend you give this band an opportunity and visit their myspace. It’s only ten minutes and and perhaps you’ll thank me for it.

gogol bordello story from last night!
since i always get there crazy early for shows,  i was hoping to swing this one before lining up. my friend and i got to revolution at 3; doors at 7. around 5 o’clock we saw eugene dart out of the tour bus but when we tried to talk to him, he blew us off and just said ‘we’ll do this later.’ i guess he went to go soundcheck (not sure?) but we were pretty pissed off considering we’d been waiting for hours doing nothing and this asshole couldn’t stop to give us five minutes?

anyway, after the show (which was EPIC to say the least, top five show for me, but i won’t discuss that here because this is about my list) we waited outside by the back door. some of the guys from gogol bordello were already there but eugene hadn’t been out yet- we only had to wait about ten minutes for him to come out, max, so that was pretty rad.

i introduced myself and showed him my list and asked him to teach me something in russian. i added that i was going to be a russian major this fall (truth, by the way) and so he said, “oh so i have to be responsible about this!” of course i said, “no, no! teach me something cool that i won’t learn in college!” so he paused and pondered for a minute, quite a while actually because he even said “wow i don’t know why i can’t think of anything!” after a few more seconds he said “ah!” and grabbed my list and pen out of my hand. i was expecting him to just say whatever word he thought of, so that caught me off guard in the most awesome way ever. he scrwaled “pizdeta” on the paper, and i asked him what it meant. he said “you’re just going to have to go to school and learn it now!” ahaha, he’s a good man. really rad guy.

p.s. pizdeta apparently is russian sexual slang that means a cross between fuck up and cunt. pretty sweet!
