Las cejas han desaparecido poco a poco en muchos de los más importantes desfiles.

En los shows de otoño/invierno, nos dimos cuenta de cómo las cejas comenzaban a taparse en apenas algunos desfiles. Pero esta temporada,  las cejas han hecho un acto de desaparición en muchas de las pasarelas de Primavera 2010 de Milán, Nueva York y París.

Las bleached eyebrows o las cejas blanqueadas, se han convertido en una fuerte tendencia vista en modelos de todo el mundo para desfiles como Botega Venetta, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Balenciaga, Nina Ricci y Givenchy, entre tantos otros.

Eyebrows have slowly but surly disappeared from many high profile runways.

At the fall shows, we noticed blocked out brows on a spattering of edgy catwalks. But this season, brows pulled a disappearing act on many Spring 2010 runways.

The  bleached eyebrows have already become a strong trend seen in models from around the world for fashion shows as Botega Venetta, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Balenciaga, Nina Ricci and Givenchy, among many others.

Este año Lara fue una de las protagonistas de los desfiles de otoño / invierno y los shows de alta costura, que aparecen en las pasarelas de Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier y Prada, entre otros.

Three years ago, the model Lara Stone bleached her brows on the advice of Carine Roitfeld, the esteemed editor of French Vogue, who then went on to dedicate an entire issue of Paris Vogue to her, declaring: “I wanted to make her a star”. This year she starred at the autumn/winter and couture shows, appearing on catwalks for Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Prada among others.

Otra modelo, la reconocida Kristen McMenamy, ícono de los 90s y ahora con 42 años, apareció fotografiada en la tapa de Vogue Italia en la edición de Julio 2009 con las cejas completamente blanqueadas, 17 años después que ella y Karen Elson popularizaran este look durante los años grunge.

The past July, the popular 90s model Kristen McMenamy, now 42, appears on the cover of Italian Vogue without brows, 17 years after she and Karen Elson popularised the look during the grunge years.

En la última edición de Vogue Italia, nuevamente podemos ver la tendencia en portada: Rianne ten Haken y Karlie Kloss fotografiadas por el gran Steven Meisel, aparecen en el número de MUJERES CON ESTILO con sus cejas casi invisibles.

In the newest issue of Vogue Italy, again we can see the trend on the cover: Rianne Ten Haken and Karlie Kloss photographed by the great Steven Meisel, appear in the number of women with style with almost invisible eyebrows.

Además, celebridades y trendsetters cómo Mary-Kate Olsen (mira su look aquí) y Gwen Stefani (mirala aquí) también han abrazado la nueva tendencia tiñendo sus cejas de un rubio… muy rubio.

Romero Jennings, Senior Artist de M.A.C - un indispensable en el backstage de la semana de la moda – dijo recientemente en un photoshoot de StyleList: “La temporada pasada, los maquilladores blanqueaban las cejas de las modelos para los desfiles”, explicó.

“Pero algunas de las modelos no se teñían nuevamente después de terminar sus trabajos y se convirtió en una tendencia”.

Según Jennings, el blanqueado de cejas es una reliquia de los primeros años de la era punk rock. “Es ese estilo punky, junky finales de los 70s principios de los 80 que las mujeres llevaban, y muchos diseñadores se inspiraron en esa mirada la temporada pasada y de nuevo esta temporada”.

M.A.C Senior Artist Romero Jennings – who is a backstage fixture at fashion week – at a recent StyleList shoot. “Last season, the makeup artists bleached the girl’s brows for the shows,” he explained.

“But, some of the models didn’t dye theirs back after, and the became a trend.”

According the Jennings, bleached out brows are a relic of the early punk rock era. “It’s that punky, junky late 70s, early 80s thing that women did, and many designers were inspired by that look last season and again this season.”

First off, shame on me for being a bag blogger and not posting regularly. In my defense, I’ve been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to pull together final wedding details. It’s now T minus 3 months til the big day – typing that gave me a mini anxiety attack – and I feel like there’s still so much to accomplish.

But often times, instead of tackling my growing list of DIY wedding projects (Martha’s tissue paper pom-poms, anyone? ), I get sidetracked and slip into La-La-Land reading wedding blogs and researching for the perfect wedding day accessories. In lieu of obsessing over them privately, here are some of my favorite things that I am in love with….

1. Botega Venetta Patent Origami Knot Clutch: I first laid eyes on this masterful work of intricacy while in Chicago last fall for the SC v. Notre Dame game. It was my first time venturing into a Botega boutique after long admiring the bags from a distance, and for some reason the salesman thought I had money. He complimented me on my “very special piece” of a necklace, which caused me to gloat on the inside since I bought it for $4.90 at Forever XXI. After showing me an ethereal Botega creation made from the skins of 60 watersnakes, he brought out the origami knot clutch and my heart stopped. The photos don’t do it justice, you really have to see this one in person – the handiwork alone must have taken someone weeks to complete; each patent bump is sewn together in the shape of an origami fortune teller. Gor-geous.

2. Rina Tairo Rings: I can’t even remember how I stumbled upon this website, but I have been in love ever since. The rings are so different from anything I’ve seen out there; they’re the definition of a true statement piece. I just love how they strike the perfect balance between modern and unique and timeless estate pieces.

3. Auntie Em’s Red Velvet Cupcakes: The best. cupcakes. ever. I first discovered these at Pitfire Pizza (which has, ironically, the best pizza ever), where they bring them in daily from Auntie Em’s Bakery in Eagle Rock. For all you Los Angelenos, these are undoubtedly the best red velvet in the city. Believe me, I’ve tried them all.

4. Artikal Millinery: Being a vintage lover and obsessed with British culture as I am, I have always had a secret crush on feather headpieces and gorgeous hats. I found this site while looking for a feather/flower piece to wear in my hair. Their prices are reasonable for really beautiful pieces (including the elusive birdcage veil) that make quite a statement.

5. Football Mums: Finding out what type of flower these were when I first saw them was a 4 month process. I kept seeing them in different places, but either they weren’t labeled or no one knew what they were. Finally I took a picture of them with a camera phone and showed it to my florist – turns out they are called football mums, and now that I know what they’re called I can incorporate them into the wedding.
