Well its been just over a week in coming and with a slight set back with a technical error (me using a lower case P rather than the required lowercase) which rendered one of the more popular parts of the sites off line.

The new boudoir website is now online!

The new boudoir site goes live!

The new website is based on ne of the designs we have used for the City Photography websites, we have altered the layout, added some more design to the website over the past site which has taken place.

Our boudoir Website history.

Our boudoir photography service used to be linked to the grafixphoto website, which was sub hosted on National Photographer, the website was more for commercial photographer  and the service was available since mid 2007.

In 2009 we updated moved and split the boudoir photography website making Grafixphoto and Boudoir photography separate. 

We used the same site design as we  had used on the grafixphoto website until It was ordered for a new website design when the national photographer websites had an overhaul in the first part of 2009.

While initially happy with the design of the website with its feature and media rich content, we noticed issues reported from users of the website and our site monitoring.

Some of the  problems   with the sites load times,  this was due to the large back ground image and the smaller screen size settings which pushed the sites view off side and only benefited those using a higher screen size and had high speed internet.

We had problems with navigation on the website as well, this was due to fancy design work which made the pictures shown on the site a menu for getting around the site rather than what many though was some form of gallery (though ‘menu’ was  over the top) The a problem was the accociation of the calculator to the prices. Not forgetting that the sites navigation was a roll over , so text appeared telling the viewer what the button did.

This can in part be a problem caused with some users exploring software of the internet… so we have now changed the website with its launch at a little after 5pm today (friday)

The new website is more colourful and still hold little to no adult images and still retains client privacy in displaying the images (unless permission has been granted) but the idea of the images was to promote the wonder and the tease of boudoir photography.

With tomorrows (todays) photo shoot offering us more images to add more images to the site. We hope to be adding some more pin-up retro shoot images and Vargas styled images  next year in the spring.

Todays photo shoot will be centered on themed photo shoots or story photo shoots.
Stacey will be finishing off her photo shoot story (see the photo shoot link on the top of the page and the theme section) as well as  other themed story telling at our multi location shoots.

You may think the butterfly’s are not really boudoir, but what would you change them to?

I was thinking of caterpillars that turn into beautiful butterflies, but each to their own I guess!

Ok, so you’ve decided you want to do a boudoir photoshoot for yourself or for someone you love. WHAT NOW???

Let’s start with what boudoir photography is all about. Boudoir actually means a woman’s bedroom, dressing room or private sitting room. Your boudoir photographs should reflect a sense of intimacy, sexiness, and femininity. That is easy for me to write, and to describe, but to get your images to look great the most important thing is that you are comfortable and relaxed!

As a photographer who specializes in boudoir and nude photography, I can tell you that nerves will show in the photos every time. If you read our clients comments you will see that without exception they are comfortable and relaxed in the Casual Elegance Photography® studio – even if they have been completely naked for artistic nude photographs! And most of them are surprised by this! I have robes available in the studio for your use before we begin shooting and during set changes. It always surprises me that halfway through the session most women aren’t even bothering with the robes anymore! I am glad that they are that comfortable.

Remember, this is new to you, but as the photographer, I have done this hundreds of times. I use digital imaging and shoot directly to the computer – so we can see the results as we shoot. This allows us to get the most out of the shoot. I have never had anyone say that they didn’t enjoy their shoot once the photographs start appearing on the screen! Most say that they cannot believe how beautiful they look, and seeing their images on the screen helps them to relax more.

There are many things you can do prior to the photoshoot to calm yourself. Take a relaxing bath, listen to soft music, meditate… just spend some time keeping the nerves at bay. Prior to the shoot I will be sending you an email that will outline a bunch of hints and tips to help you prepare for the shoot. You can also look at the FAQs on my site to get some sense of the process and normal questions that people have about a shoot. Again, the key component of a successful shoot is that you are relaxed, feeling confident, and prepared for your shoot.

Ahh yes if your are following the blog and  on friendfeed and twitter we just updated the header image (banner on the top) of this WP theme to add that little bit of festive spirit to go along with the santa baby photo shoot for those special christmas gifts.

We have about 18 days left for the shoots with albums due to cut off dates and shipping while everyone goes on holiday. While we can still continue to offer the taster package as these are prints and we have our own printers, so the limit is on the albums and the canvases.. and Im guessing some of us will want a break as well..

On the 5th November, I had a fantastic time shooting a boudoir/portrait shoot for the lovely Rachael., in Leeds.  It was a rainy day, but we didn’t let that stop us using the gorgeous trees and leaves as a setting for the shoot.  Rach brought along some brilliant probs and accessories, including the fabulous pink fur coat, wellies and a fur rug! (don’t think I have photographed these items in one shoot before!)

Rachael was an absolute star, and looks amazing in the images we captured. Here are a few of my favourites:

Yay. I’m excited to finally be able to show you these. I’ve had these waiting for a couple weeks now but we couldn’t show much until Heather was able to give her husband his birthday gift. We didn’t want to ruin the surprise. Here are some of my favorites from her boudoir session. She purchased some cute outfits at Pinup Girl Clothing just for the occasion.

Heather is a graphic design artist so she was excited about the idea of me using lots of textures to make these pictures a little saucier.

This one kinda reminds me of an iPod commercial. One of my favorites.

As a little girl, Lizzie loved pretending to be a ballerina.  She loved to dance around the house in her ballet shoes and dreamed of one day dancing on stage.  Lizzie loved everything dance as a child – musicals, ballets etc, etc and of course the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.”  So when she first tried on the “Madame Chou Chou” dress from Boudoir, memories of her childhood came flooding back.  After that the quest was on to create the perfect Sugar Plum Fairy look for Lizzie to photograph.  And coincidentally, Lizzie also learned after chatting with Callie Cline over the weekend  of a new sim she created devoted to all the beauty of winter on her Stereo Vogue sim next to caLLiefornia.  And with sugar plums dancing in her head she knew that Stereo Vogue would be a perfect fit for you ballerina look that day.  So let’s take a look at Lizzie as she dances to her own rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” during her visit to Stereo Vogue, YAY!

See Lizzie dance on her tippy toes at the entrance to Callie’s lovely winter sim.  Lizzie loves the look of toe shoes (and I don’t mean Frankenfeet, LOL) in second life.  She purchased toe shoes from both DeLa and from Bare Rose.  For this current look she went with the Bare Rose Pale Pink which does require you to wear the included ballet tights.  And Lizzie secretly wishes that DeLa would also come out with the pastel colored shoes she wore as a child such as light pink or even silver (hint, hint), LOL.

Lizzie resisted for so long demoing the League skin but she finally drank the League Koolaid and she is very happy she did, ha!  The “Misty” skin is simply divine and even though its seen all over the feeds, she was able to mod her shape to give the skin a more Lizzie look and feel – and the Tata’s are pretty hot too, LOL.

Wow look at Lizzie and her perfect Grand Jeté, LOL.  Lizzie loved everything about this ensemble; her dress from Boudoir (modeled after one of Vitabela Dubrovna’s RL creations from Boudoir couture store in Croatia), her hat from un Jour and her toe shoes from Bare Rose.  The poses featured are from Diesel Works and they are simply divine.  And every pose made Lizzie look like the perfect Ballerina, YAY.  As a side note about Boudoir, Lizzie was informed this morning that there is also an interview with Vitabela on Angie Mornington’s Fabulous Fashion TV available for viewing as well.

And oh, a little about the sim:  Stereo Vogue is full of outdoor decor for purchase including trees, walkways and ice-covered mountains.  Callie has also created adorable Holiday themed Antlers called “Happy Head Antlers” that Lizzie discovered during her visit last night, YAY.  Stereo Vogue is definitely full of holiday cheer and should be any on SLer’s holiday sim to do list.

Boudoir is a new-to-me store that features the work of a RL designer bringing her work into SL. Vitabela Dubrovna, as she is called in SL,  has some of her RL designs on display for you to see. The SL designs are not identical, but reflect similar design aesthetics. However, while visiting her store I bumped into her and saw that she is going beyond the possibilities of RL clothing by adding a rose petal emitter to a rose-petal festooned gown.  The dress shown here, though, is as comfortable in either world. A lovely pewtery gray dress with a beautifully ruffled skirt, Boutique’s Ruffles dress would be a delight for dancing or parties.

I opted for the old favorites from Storm Schmooz for the shoes and jewelry from Zaara and Lelutka. The hair is from 0 Style and the skin is the incomparable July from PXL. The pictures were taken at New York City – between the Public Library and the Statue of Liberty.  Just do a search for Statue of Liberty and you will find it easily.

I know we have mentioned it before but please plan early if you want to do a photoshoot and calendar or book for a holiday gift. A calendar needs 13 edited images and a book needs 20 – 25. It will take you a while to pick the images out, then several days to edit them and provide the proofs to you, and then a few more days to lay the book or calendar out. Once that’s complete there is the time it takes the lab to print it and ship it to us. I usually say that you should allow about 20 days from the shoot to have the finished product. Calendars are a bit faster because the layout is a simpler process and can actually be done via email and a phone call or two. But the book layout is much more complex unless you want only one image on a page. Then it’s similar to a calendar time frame. Both books and calendars can have words placed with the images. On a calendar we usually recommend that you create a “tag line” that goes with the shot and represents the month. For instance, a shot in a sexy halloween outfit for October with a tag line of “Trick or TREAT!” But a book could have a poem with the photo or something that would make the person receiving the book know how much you care about them. It can get complex and time consuming. There are SO MANY options…

So plan early, have some themes in mind, get your outfits ready ahead of time, and be ready to create the most unique and sensual gift that they could ever receive. And as a reminder, Valentine’s Day is only 2 months away!!!! Hint hint…

Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls – whilst lurking about my blogroll yesterday, I came across an intriguing post by Ms. Arabella Steadham about the new to me store in SL called Boudoir.  What stands out about Boudoir in SL for me is that the store appears to be the virtual pet project of a real life fashion designer living and working in Croatia.  And not only did Arabella model many lovely gowns by Vitabela but she also linked a video made by SL’s beloved Eshi Otawara filmed at Vitabela’s RL boutique in Croatia, YAY.  The designs of the RL shop are truly one of a kind couture creations by Vitabela and her twin sister and they are simply to die for!  And here is Eshi’s video for your viewing pleasure:

I fell so in love with the designs of the RL boutique also called Boudoir that I popped on over to Boudoir SL and bought a few of her dresses, YAY.  I also had a chance to chat with Vitabela and she gave me a few details about her designs and her experiences in SL as a designer.  Currently, all of her designs in SL are photosourced images of her actual RL creations.  She is also a self taught photoshop user and is still making her way around the tools and options of SL design.  Now I was tired last night, LOL and I didn’t do piccys but I have three dresses I intend to blog over the next week or so and one of these absolutely screams Bunneh Lizzie, YAY.  So in the meantime, check out Arabella’s post and be sure visit Boudoir in SL as well, YAY.  And oh if you want to know what dress was RL Lizzie’s fave from the dresses shown in the video – it’s shown at the very end of the video up close and is on the left side of the mirror. Ok. Here’s another photographer I followed for months, fell in love, then realized that she’s completely out of my league. And although I couldn’t afford to hire Christine Farah, I have continued to follow her blog for the awesomeness that she brings to her images. When I told her I couldn’t afford her work, she didn’t even hesitate to follow up suggestions for affordable up and coming photogs. Now that is a winner of a person. Let’s swoon together now shall we?

So a Weddings… Yes Please round of applause for Christine Farah Photography!

I just had a call from one of my favorite model friends. She and her fiance want to come in for a couples artistic nude session. What will be great about this shoot is that they are both ballroom dancers. Can you imagine the images we can get as they dance and interact with the music? I’m really excited about being asked to shoot this. I envision shots that will be along the lines of “the Kiss” by Rodin, the sweeping beauty of a passionate embrace as the dancers dip at the end. I can also envision the classical dance moves captured in a romantic, sensual way. Yes, there will be nudity, but it will be the purest form of expression and the most sincere expression of emotion.

The key to a great couples nude session is to express your passion and feelings with your partner. Although it may be difficult to imagine forgetting that you are being photographed, my clients have said that once they let the feelings take over they were in another world. The first reaction is always that they think they have to pose. But I keep telling them that posing is not what they need to do – they need to be natural. Once the posing ends, the beautiful natural images begin. A kiss, a hand being held, a touch, or a hug. Natural, beautiful, expressive, and sensual. That’s what it’s all about.

With a new Location for Photo shoots in Bristol, we now have a few new plans for ourselves in order to expand and continue to build our blossoming portfolio. We would like to undertake a few shoots in this new location with clients, and we are offering the following:

Our staff will be shooting in Bristol and you are welcome to join us if  you would like your  Boudoir photo shoot taken by us. You will need your hair and make up done, but doing your own should be fine;  although we may have a  professional onsite or our female staff will be able to help you out..

We will bring along the props and wardrobe, but please DO bring your own outfit and changes with you on the day aswell.

Kristin has been doing modeling for years now and has an amazing portfolio, however its mostly catalog.  Now in her early twenties, she was looking to do a boudoir to update her portfolio to give some range and diversity to her book.  Hard to imagine people couldn’t already notice what a sexy and beautiful woman she is….but she thought this would just make it easier for them to picture.

We had a fun time listening to “mood” music and getting into it, she took direction really well…always understood what I was going to ask her before I finished getting the words out.  That made things so easy, we ended up being able to get in 5 different outfits with different hair and makeup for each (which she did herself…amazing).  Future employers, enjoy!

Okay, I’m a bit behind on my other album I’ve been working on for one of my clients, but I just had an awesome boudoir session with Amy today and I’m so psyched out about it that I had to post  her photos now!  There were so many beautiful photos, but they are just too “hawt” for my blog:)

Amy, thank you so so much for such an awesome time.  You looked amazing and I look forward to doing my first destination wedding at the capital of the Lone Star State on April 2010! nothing is sexier than a woman in her man's shirt!

I’m still getting used to the new studio and the challenge is the amount of space I have for storage. But today, just before we cleaned the studio we put up a 30″ wide storage cabinet and a 24″ wide wall cabinet. Between the two I was able to free up 4 storage shelves and 2 shelves in the kitchen area. This will allow me to store more props and things, as well as organize the storage areas a little better. We’re now thinking of removing the front reception area and building another set in it’s place. In a smaller studio everything has to serve a dual purpose!

What man doesn't love a girl in a tight tank and a ball cap?

 

So had a shoot yesterday with two lovely ladies.
I have the permission to post images of the one lady so far waiting on the other.
These ladies came to me with just the thought of making themselves look pretty in photos for their men. I know while I was photographing them and showing them the photos that they where seeing more than pretty they where seeing themselves as beautiful. As for me being a woman and a photographer this makes what I do even better and rewarding for me.
I really love making women see that their inner beauty and confidence can come out in a photo given the chance.
I have a lot of clients that say “Oh I look really bad in photos” well given the right angles and light any woman can be beautiful given the right encouragement and warmth.
So here are some of the photos from the one lady I photographed and I truly honored and happy with them.

The word Erotic congers up many different thoughts and each person has a different idea on what Erotic is to them. I’ve asked many clients about the word and their thoughts. It amazes me at how different the answers are. I have a few shots in one of my books at the studio and I use it to determine the client’s view of erotic. By understanding what “Erotic” means to them I’m able to focus my shots on those types of images. When a couple asks for an Erotic Couples shoot, I use basically the same technique to gain an insight into their thoughts on the word so we can put together a plan for our shoot. The variation in thoughts is something I would have never believed. For instance, I had a shot of a woman’s legs in Red heels and a rose draped down one leg. It’s set to a gelled red on black backdrop (see it below). I’ve had some say that it’s the most erotic shot they have seen and had others say it’s not erotic at all. I’ll bet there’s some study or psychological paper about why people perceive it differently, but I really don’t want to know that much, just what they think it should look like. I remember taking a class once called “What you are is what your were when”. The class was about how we take in the world around us and develop our personal views as we grow up. Cool class!
