October and November have been very busy month’s for me. Which would explain the week and a half I went without blogging : ( So I wanted to share some pictures of what I have been up to.

October.. Andy, Aida and myself ran a full marathon! All I can say about that is, INTENSE!

I started on this painting. Clearly, it is still a work in progress. My next goal is to come up with a theme to apply to my paintings and craft work. Any ideas?

I made these festive bows for christmas out of magazine pages. How About Orange Blog has a great post on how to make these beautiful festive bows. They are so simple to make. All you need is a magazine page, a stapler, scissors, glue and viola!

BIRTHDAYS…

We kicked started the birthday celebrating with Richie’s 21st at. FUN FUN FUN

My brother and I took full advantage of the swing set we found outside of the club. Genius right?!

My pretty cousin Amber turned 16, she is lagging on posting pictures. Then again, who am I to judge? :P

Her dance group Creative Movement performed but sadly I missed out. Take a peek at their performance at the Renaissance Assembly. Take a look at their video here.

Andy’s neice turned 4. Hooray It was a dinosaur themed party — I know exciting!! I think we had too much fun… Look at the bouncer they rented! I wasn’t able to beat Andy, he had a slight height advantage but, there is always next year!

From the looks of it I think his mom had just as much fun as we did! lol

Other celebrations.. My good friend Justine messaged me today. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from one another. So it was definitely a pleasant surprise! She was my grade school partner in crime. good times. xoxo

Most importantly… October 26th marked one year since my beloved grandmother passed away. Although it’s been hard my family and I have are so grateful to all those who continue to show such love and support to my family & I. Truly, we are blessed to have such amazing people in our lives. Grandma you are forever missed. We love you!

Maria Luisa Gomez

May 28, 1932 – October 26, 2008

Lastly, these two beautiful poems ..

God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you And whispered, “Come to me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

She is Gone
By Anonymous

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Preparing for the arrival of your new addition can be exciting and exhausting. Even after completin

Preparing for the arrival of your new addition can be exciting and exhausting. Even after completing the registry and exchanging duplicate gifts, you’re never really sure if you have everything you need. Chances are you probably don’t.

Here are few items that all new parents should have to make days (and nights) easier.

The Boppy Pillow

Whether you breastfeed or bottle feed, the Boppy is your friend. Boppy pillows help elevate and position infants to make feeding more comfortable for the baby as well as mom and dad. The pillows stretch to fit any waist size, so they are always comfortable. There are tons of adorable slipcovers to choose from to help personalize your Boppy. Not only are the pillows great for feeding, they are also fantastic for tummy time and play time. As your baby learns to sit up, the Boppy provides a comfy and supportive seat for them to show of their new skills.

The Peanut Shell

The Peanut Shell Baby Sling is nothing short of amazing. The stylish line is for on-the-go moms who are sensible as well as stylish. Unlike other baby slings and carriers, Peanut Shell slings are designed to fit the body comfortably. They come in different sizes to ensure proper fit. These slings give you multiple options for “wearing” your baby as they grow. You can carry your newborn tummy to tummy or carry your toddler on your back. Whether you’re busy around the house or out exploring the world, the Peanut Shell will keep your hands free and your baby snug and secure.

The Bouncer

The bouncer is a staple in the homes of new parents. The cuddly, cozy seat offers soothing sounds and gentle vibrations to calm fussy babies. Some styles come with head support, flashing lights, and cheerful music. Bouncers are compact and light weight which makes them easy to move around the house. Most styles are ideal for travel and are easy to store when not in use. Even after the batteries have died, the bouncer will still entertain and comfort your baby.

A + D Ointment

From diaper rash to dry skin, A+D will keep the whole family protected. This ointment is gentle enough to use at every diaper change and can reduce the chances of your baby getting a diaper rash. The whole family can use it on eczema and dry skin, as well as minor abrasions. This ointment is inexpensive and is a necessity for the changing table and diaper bag.

Gas Drops

Gas is a common cause of irritability in infants. Gas bubbles are painful and cause serious discomfort. Gas drops are the best defense. They are safe to use at every feeding (only use as directed). Drops can be given to babies by mouth or mixed into formula. Gas drops are over-the-counter, so no prescription is necessary.

The first few weeks of parenthood are tough. Preparation can help make the transition from couple to family a little smoother.

This weekend is combined in the one post.

Discussion on the technicalities of various trivial items with the boss’s partner was rudely interrupted when 50 metres down the road we noticed a young male running around the corner, closely followed by a young female minus her top. The boobs, they were large and swinging. They both bobbed down and we waited. Then he sprung up and began legging it across the other side of the street. At this stage, she had recovered her top and covered up, but she decided to pursue this man and in doing so, lost her strapless top again.

Having received this information before and met with the people in question, when we were advised that bikies were in town again it was of no major concern. In fact, while managing a ‘probie’ (his terminology) who got all tight around the neck with the news, I met the bikies for 10 seconds as the walked past. They are normal people with close friends who would do anything for them.

Still they come trying their best. Children, or girls who believe they look old enough to be with the women. Yep, another bunch of girls with ID’s that clearly state they are 17 (legal age here is 18). Only this time, instead of stating the obvious, I said “ok… you can come in” she looked at me with brightness in her eyes, then I continued with “next year, when you are 18!”. I couldn’t help myself.

In a country where the most important rule is to go out and multiply you would think that the baby gadgets and toys and thinga-magigs would be at the cutting edge of technology. This is sadly not the case! I went to 4 stores in 4 malls yesterday looking for what I eventually found – at the last place.

The first very good find was his Infanti Bouncer… we think that he is going to love it, especially when his brain clicks that he can actually use his legs to bounce.

The other thing we found is the ExerSaucer Mega! It has a farmyard theme and I think that it is going to go down really well with our Michael.

He seems to be into the bouncer much more than the saucer. Oh well, I am sure that they will both be used abundantly!

Today is clean-up-the-house-day. Since Mordechai has had the flu and I have been on total baby duty the house has become a whirlwind after party. We are determinded to have this place in tip-top condition by the end of the day!

So, what’ve I been up to?

Lovely farewell lunch with colleagues, which ended in a Ramsey Street-esque goodbye (ie they all lined up, cried, said a few kind words, and bouncer pissed on me).

Well, it was something like that…

Last night a few beers with a couple of creative director friends. Tried to put the Sydney thumbscrews on, but sorry boys, my Aussie heart belongs to Melbourne. And all those who sail in her…

The low-carb beer doesn’t seem to have had the same explosive effect it did last time, so I’m storming about my last Saturday, milking the 28ish degree heat and clear blue sky for all it’s worth.

Iain is off to enjoy the last days sun. Might even hit the beach…

Gym attendance is a positive activity that can bring with it health and wellbeing benefits that extend across the lifespan. It’s great for the metabolism, bone density, and blood pressure, but these factors are entirely unrelated to why the male bogan joins the gym. He’s there to get HUGE. The bogan, with his poor coping skills and tendency to act impulsively, identifies the need to become the largest gladiator in the nightclub, both to catch the eye of the female bogan, and to become physically dominant over the other males. As with many other aspects of his life, he exhibits no subtlety or moderation; he craves the extreme.

At the gym, the male bogan can generally be found near a mirror, dramatically swinging the largest dumbells he can pick up. Rather than working on his entire physique, the bogan exclusively targets the parts of the body that can protrude from a tight Ed Hardy t-shirt, creating an odd sense of proportion. As a result, he can always be seen working out in a skimpy singlet, but loose pants.

The bogan’s inability to resist an impossibly good shortcut will sometimes lead him to getting on the ‘roids, which speed up the process of getting huge, and reduce the amount of work required. The downsides, such as erectile dysfunction, testicular atrophy, paranoia, and increased aggression are dismissed. Once the bogan achieves a large size in the chest and biceps, he is then ready to apply his Ed Hardy and head to the nightclub with his boys. Normally, someone that got this large would consider getting serious about bodybuilding, but the dieting, lower body work, and discipline required to earn a bodybuilder’s lean physique are sacrifices a bogan is unwilling to make. Besides, if he can’t instigate drunken brawls and then wolf down a souvlaki in a popular nightclub district, what’s the point of getting huge in the first place?

16th post

As for this random post, I would like to share my night of being the bouncer at the cirque event. It was a really fun night, although I spent most of the night outside, I got to drink lots of free drinks, almost won a raffle prize (they uttered # 34 but it’s almost close to #33 too right. Haha. The “number thirty—….” was the really exciting part). I also got to eat lots of fruits and waffles.

The Ants was great too, it’s a drink made out of sugar, which tasted a bit like honey, YUM. As the bouncer, I got to know the other bouncer (I called him Kuya, but for others he was the door guy who looked like a man from the marines, he was wearing this white kind of soldier uniform with gold tassels at the side). I also crossed my arms from time to time (whenever my classmates would enter. Haha) and bounced the night away.

The only thing I regret did not know that I will be assigned the task of being the bouncer ahead of time if I had known; I would have worn my bouncer shirt, instead of wearing party clothes…so as to achieve the full bouncer effect. Haha.

cirque

Every week I emulate my favorite late night talk show host, David Letterman, and countdown from ten.

Every week I emulate my favorite late night talk show host, David Letterman, and countdown from ten. And then, last week, my favorite late night talk show host shared with us his story of being blackmailed for fooling around with some of his staff.

Whether you think his announcement was noble or unnecessary, whether you care where Letterman puts it or not, the scandal brought me to this week’s topic: the top ten people you should avoid sleeping with unless you want to suffer some serious aftermath. Maybe not a mistake that warrants a $2 million extortion, mind you, but still pretty scandalous repercussions.

10. The Bartender and/or Bouncer
Especially not at your favorite bar or club. One mistake with a bouncer equals embarrassment strong enough to keep you out of the doors of your favorite sports bar forever.

9. A neighbor in your dorm
Do you really want to worry about running into your fling when you’re in the dorm hallways wearing Powerpuff girl pajama bottoms?

8. “That Guy”
Collar popped underneath his Ed Hardy shirt with a sideways hat and a Lance Armstrong bracelet. Spare your dignity.

7. Ray-J
Unless you want a sex tape on the internet. Although it did kick-start Kim Kardashian’s career, so I guess this isn’t such a bad idea if that’s the direction you want to take your life.

6. Your BFF’s boyfriend
You’ll definitely lose a bestie and have other friends questioning your loyalty. Not cool.

5. Co-Worker
Particularly a boss. As hot as it would be, it violates some serious company policies <cough Letterman cough> and could also jeopardize your future with the company. Leave that one in your fantasies.

4. That foxy professor
He has kids. Stay away. Do not fantasize about showing up to his office hours in lingerie or your old Catholic schoolgirl uniform. Just. stay. away.

3. The R.A.
Enough said.

2. The cabbie giving you a ride home from the bar at 4 AM
I’m not even going to comment further.

1. Your roommate
Living with guys totally rules. Sleeping with them is a guarantee to screw up a great living situation and force you onto the streets or, worse, back into the dorms.

Tonight three gentleman made a costly mistake. They travelled from far away and did so in a taxi. I watched as they alighted from the cab and headed in my direction. There was Mr Intoxicated, Mr Abusive and Mr No idea. As they came to the door I checked Mr Intox for an ID. He had significant trouble standing and delivering this. While waiting I asked Mr No idea for his. He said he didn’t have one. I explained he can’t come in without one. Mr No Idea was not happy with this, but Mr Intox was still trying to get his id and stand straight. I then explained to him he was too intoxicated, and his response? “You think I’m drunk?”

Then Mr Abusive described me was a head full of fornication. I smiled and thanked him for the complement and I then said he could not come in. Three onto one is an unfair ratio, so I called in my backup as the conversation… negotiation became heated. Fortunately the other bouncer used a special technique called, “boring the heck out of them”.

Their costly mistake was that at the end, no venue would let them in. All that travel for nothing.
