Voilà une dizaine de jours que je rédigeais un article inhérent à une requête simple: la mise à disposition de conteneurs et bacs poubelle.

Le message est visiblement très bien passé puisque depuis hier, c’est chose faite à proximité de mon immeuble d’habitation.

Et pour l’occasion, ils n’y sont pas allés de main morte, pas moins de 4 gros conteneurs poubelle qui arrivent d’un coup d’un seul, à point nommé. Les riverains ne sont pas habitués à cela, car évidemment ils n’en ont jamais eu à disposition! Ils n’auront que l’embarras du choix, quel conteneur pourront-ils bien choisir pour déposer leurs déchets n’est-ce-pas?

Mais en tout cas, je m’en réjouis pleinement et c’était là tout le sens de ma requête, c’est plus de propreté dans les rues de notre ville et plus de responsabilisation des habitants, les invitant à non plus déposer leurs sacs poubelle sur les trottoirs mais dans les conteneurs prévus à cet effet.

Serge Pugeault se vante constamment de la rapidité de la majorité municipale à entamer la réfection de la Halle du Boulingrin, alors que par le passé ce dossier paraissait au ralenti.

C’est clairement de la mauvaise foi car si Adeline Hazan et son équipe ont eu la possibilité de lancer aussi vite ce dossier, c’est grâce aux travaux d’études réalisés par l’équipe précédente. Il serait bon qu’ils ne l’omettent pas!

M. Pugeault met en cause la lenteur du déblocage de l’aide de l’Etat à la réfection qui était bloquée depuis 1996…C’est aussi objectivement l’une des causes du non avancement du dossier par le passé !

Surtout, c’est la preuve que gouvernements de gauche comme de droite n’avaient pas rempli cet engagement, alors même que Serge Pugeault se répand partout en affirmant que l’enveloppe accordée dans le cadre du plan de relance n’est que le rattrappage de cette promesse non tenue.

Enfin et c’est important de le souligner, c’est Jack Lang qui a classé ce bâtiment pour des raisons politiciennes en 1985, alors que sa qualité architecturale est très largement décriée.

M. Pugeault a la mémoire bien courte et une lecture partiale et partielle de ce dossier, il n’a même pas le souci de la cohérence dans les propos qu’il tient, trop occupé à politiser à outrance et à vouloir discréditer l’Etat et l’Exécutif…

Lá estávamos nós, nos auto-fotografando como descrito no post anterior, quando percebemos que, vez por outra, um turista passante sorria e, disfarçadamente, nos fotografava também.

Dois desses turistas nos flagraram na parte final do nosso ensaio, já na parte da pracinha que fica às margens do Rio Spree. Era um casal, e percebi que a mulher nos fotografava tentando fazê-lo de forma que nós não percebêssemos.

Bem, nós não só percebemos, como também sinalizamos que estava tudo bem, não criaríamos caso com a nossa imagem na câmera de gente estranha. Em algum momento, até pose e sorrisos eu fazia!

Ao final do nosso ensaio, fomos falar com eles e nos apresentamos. Os dois são dinamarqueses e estavam de férias em Berlim. Trocamos algumas palavras e pedi que ela nos enviasse as fotos. Ela tomou nota do meu email e o marido, que até então apenas observava tudo (pelo menos até onde percebi), perguntou se não queríamos mais fotos nossas, juntos. Dissemos que sim e ele tirou uma super câmera da bolsa e começou a nos fotografar. E ela ainda continuou a tirar mais fotos também.

Dias depois, recebi um email dela, agradecendo o “ensaio inspirador”, dando os parabéns pelo casamento e um link para que pudéssemos baixar as fotos deste lindo ensaio que ganhamos deles.

Eu não tenho palavras para descrever a minha reação quando vi as 68 fotos que eles nos mandaram! Vou deixar, portanto, que algumas imagens falem por si.

Meu bouquet quase igual ao original. O original usado no dia do minicasamento tinha mais tons de laranja e amarelho.

The year of wedding shoots finally came to an end this past weekend and what a year it has been.  We started off by attending the weddings of two couples as one of ‘those’ guests carrying lots of photographic equipment but weren’t the real photographers. Then , within the last two months, we’ve shot our first 3 weddings as primary photographers and have learned so much from these three days. Aside from all of the techinical mumbo jumbo (choosing iso, filters, apertures shutter speeds, carrying ladders around etc etc) we learned that shooting for a good 8-10 hours does bring on mental and physical fatigue toward the end of the day. Neither of us are caffeine junkies so that was never going to be a viable solution and there’s only so much that sugar can do (besides adding a few more fillings to my growing collection of 7 and Marianne’s 5).  The best way I’ve found to keep the energy levels and concentration going is to be involved with the wedding and the people there. Each of the three weddings has had a very different ‘vibe’ to the day and how well you as the photographer settle into that vibe undoubtedly adds to your willingness to ask for certain shots, take them, and keep up the enthusiasm.

So, without further ado, here’s a few of the spur of the moment shots from this last weekend’s wedding and the mini story behind them.

Usually, wedding vows are sacrosanct, a protected bit of speech that gets memorised and repeated. Well, I don’t know if it was improvisation on the day or premeditated , but the groom certainly did some on the spot alteration to the enjoyment of all around and probably a red face here and there !

We hadn’t planned on shooting at the gate, so we just left them alone after positioning them and told them to do whatever they liked.

We now wait for 2010 to see what the year of the Tiger brings us. Thanks for looking and reading all of our dribble throughout the year.

Ensaio fotográfico foi coisa que não tivemos tempo de fazer no dia do minicasamento. Sendo assim, deixamos para depois.

Porém, nossas fotos foram feitas gentilmente por dois amigos, que não estariam disponíveis em plena sexta-feira laboral. Mas como já tínhamos a experiência de fazer auto-fotos com tripé, adquirida e aprimorada na nossa viagem de lua-de-mel antecipada, lá fomos nós com câmera e tripé a tira-colo para fazer nosso auto-ensaio fotográfico.

E foi assim que nos arrumamos com muita calma, providenciamos um novo bouquet e seguimos para o cenário do nosso primeiro beijo: a mesma pracinha que inspira o nome deste blog.

O dia estava perfeito para fotografar! Fazia um sol ameno, a temperatura também amena, com uma iluminação outonal natural linda! E nos divertimos muito! Eu tirava fotos do Rafa, Rafa tirava fotos minhas e quando queríamos estar os dois na foto, montávamos a câmera no tripé e, enquanto um marcava ali a posição da foto, o outro fazia o enquadramento, as configurações necessárias e marcava o timer em dez segundos para sair correndo para a pose.

O resultado? Este é o ensaio fotográfico onde os próprios noivos foram os fotógrafos!

E foi um dia mágico!

One of my long-time friends Meredith got married on Nov 14th.  I was blessed to be part of her wedding party as a bridesmaid and happy to take some pictures of this wonderful event.  It was a very long day as all the girls met at 9am to get our hair done and I left the hall after helping clean up around 10pm.  But what a fun day it was!

Ce stade, qui il faut le dire, a été un véritable gouffre financier, avec un coût de 57 millions d’euros, est bien loin de répondre aux attentes que l’on pouvait en avoir.

En effet, ce stade ne peut accueillir d’autre événement sportif car il n’a pas été conçu pour. Ainsi, il a été précisé au dernier Conseil Municipal qu’il manquerait 1 mètre de pelouse pour pouvoir y accueillir des matches de rugby du Top 14! 1 mètre de pelouse, vous rendez-vous compte?!

Ensuite, ce stade vraiment mal situé et très mal ouvert sur la ville. Aucun commerce ne peut se développer autour comme cela peut se faire dans les autres villes disposant d’un équipement digne de ce nom.

Enfin, il est impossible d’y installer une scène pour des spectacles, les poids-lourds ne pouvant avoir accès à l’intérieur du stade!

Que dire de la pelouse dont la piètre qualité empêche, sauf à payer un prix prohibitif de réfection, la présence de publics et de l’insuffisance des loges pour les mécènes et entreprises, l’absence de couverture des coursives…

D’où l’intérêt de réaffirmer l’impérieuse nécessité de construire un Zénith à Reims.

Ce zénith est primordial pour l’attractivité de nos territoires, notamment envers la jeunesse et en terme d’image.

Coté professionnels, la demande est unanime, tous les producteurs locaux sont favorables à ce projet, mais surtout l’exemple le plus flagrant, est la demande de Messieurs les président et directeur de programmation des Flâneries Musicales de Reims qui souhaitent tous deux une vraie salle de spectacle de grande capacité.

Non vraiment, le stade Delaune, même s’il  présente une belle esthétique, est bien loin de correspondre aux attentes des rémois(es) et des champardennais.

If you plan to walk down the aisle anytime soon, you should be aware that the flowers you carry might say more than you intended. That’s right; most flowers carry a meaning, or a special significance that has been passed down from generation to generation.

We can trace this back to the Victorian Era. It was improper in those days for a man to come out and tell a lady how he felt, so he would choose a flower with special meaning and send it her instead. Because the meaning of flowers was so well known, the woman receiving them understood the message as clearly as if it was written on a piece of paper.

As every flower lover knows, flowers have a language all of their own. Every sentiment can be expressed with flowers. Wedding flowers are no different. For instance, you wouldn’t want to have yellow carnations at your wedding if you knew that yellow carnations mean disappointment and rejection. Make sure you know what the flowers mean before you use them as your wedding flowers.

There is a reason that roses are the most popular choice of flowers for brides. A white rose stands for innocence, beauty and charm-just the traits every bride wants to portray. A bride that chooses red roses for her wedding flowers is sending a message of passion and of fiery love. If dark pink roses are used for a wedding, the couple is expressing a thankfulness that they found each other.

An ivy coloured Rose stands for fidelity in the marriage-something every new couple strives for. Pink roses mean perfect happiness but yellow roses mean jealousy. Sometimes, it’s not the colour that holds the meaning but the type. A tea rose means I’ll always remember you but a dried white rose means I would rather die than lose my virtue. Rosebuds means beauty and youth but roses signify secrecy and silence.

Roses aren’t the only flowers that hold meaning. Lilies are a very popular wedding flower. The most popular type of lily is the Calla Lily, which means beauty. Most lilies have beautiful meanings. The white lily means it’s heavenly to be with you while the yellow lily means I’m walking on air. Did you know that the day lily is the Chinese symbol for Mother? The tiger lily means wealth and pride.

Not all flowers have negative meanings; there are very few negative meanings for tulips. Tulips in general mean the perfect lover; this might be a good one to tuck into the buttonhole on his tux. Red tulips are a declaration of love while a yellow tulip means there is sunshine in your smile. If you are having a spring wedding, there is simply no better way to express your love for your future spouse than by carrying a bouquet of tulips. They are not only beautiful, but speak of an undying love.

There are some flowers you can just look at and assume you know what they mean. Never be too hasty in assuming anything. For instance, when you look at a cactus you would think that there had to be a negative meaning for it – wrong. A cactus means endurance and forever. This fits if you think about the cactus; they can survive anything.

There are so many different types of wedding flowers that no one could name them all but here are a few more. Peonies mean shame. Orchids are the Chinese symbol for many children.

No matter what wedding flowers you pick, no one is really going to know the meaning unless you tell them. Your wedding flowers, like your wedding, should be memorable and not based on superstition. Finding the meanings of flowers is like being superstitious about the groom seeing the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding. We make our own luck.

As you can see, the flowers that you choose for your wedding will definitely set the mood. Knowing that, before you select your flowers, determine what type of wedding and reception event you want to have. Once you do that, choosing the flowers will be a breeze.

Lundi s’est déroulé le débat d’orientations budgétaires de l’exercice 2010 sur fond de projet de réforme territoriale, de réforme de la Taxe Professionnelle et de transfert de responsabilités de l’Etat sur les collectivités locales.

Cette séance de Conseil municipal avait comme un air de déjà-vu ce lundi, chacun restait campé sur ses positions, comme il y a un an. Normal me direz-vous, majorité et opposition dos-à-dos dans un débat stérile, avec des critiques maintes fois entendues et des réponses redondantes contrant ces mêmes reproches, entre petits coups de griffes et phrases pseudo humoristiques. Des échanges verbaux rappelant les discours d’entraîneur de football dans les vestiaires, toujours la même litanie, le même verbiage, les mêmes remontrances, les victoires et les échecs passés… une sorte de bouillie verbale indigeste pour certains et appétant pour d’autres.

-Jean-Marc Roze (UMP) : « Comment pouvons-nous débattre, nous n’avons pas tous les éléments comptables pour apprécier votre gestion (…),  27 pages de chiffres pour éclairer le débat, mais il n’y a pas la lumière à tous les étages (…). Investir sans nous endetter relève de la science-fiction ».

-Adeline Hazan : « Comme d’habitude pour suivre Monsieur Roze, il faut se munir d’une calculatrice. Depuis plusieurs mois, vous affirmez que les dépenses de personnel vont augmenter de 13%, ce chiffre est purement fantaisiste et peu sérieux. La hausse n’est que de 0,5% ».

-Jean-Marie Beaupuy (MoDem) : « Vous jouez avec les variations de compétence entre la ville et la CAR, il est difficile de comparer d’une année sur l’autre (…)  Il manque un plan de relance(…)  Il faut aller plus vite, plus fort, plus loin (…) Madame la Maire, vous parlez des errements du passé et en même temps de la richesse culturelle et sportive de Reims, mais il faut mettre en exergue le grand écart entre les errements et ce dont vous vous rendez fiere (…) c’est sans doute un pêché de jeunesse ».

-Adeline Hazan : « Vous avez utilisé le terme de schizophrène, restons courtois (…)Vous parler de pêché de jeunesse Monsieur Beaupuy, tout le monde ne peut pas se le permettre (…) Je n’ai aucun état d’âme d’avoir soutenu certains projets sous la précédente municipalité, mais je dénonce certaines gestions financières antérieures (…) Le projet de tramway était dans mon programme en 2001, contrairement à la liste concurrente. En 2008, j’ai soutenu ce projet dès le début, ce n’est pas le cas de certains membres de l’opposition actuelle ».

-Stéphane Joly (Verts) : « Avec ce débat d’orientations budgétaires, en sortant de la salle, nous serons moins inquiets et rassurés ».

-Catherine Vautrin (UMP) reprochant le manque d’un véritable plan de relance et l’instauration d’une taxe sur les enseignes des commerçants…

-Serge Pugeault : « Concernant les enseignes Madame Vautrin, nous appliquons la loi que vous avez votée (…). Puisque l’on parle de plan de relance, l’Etat avait alloué 8 M € en 1996 pour la rénovation des Halles, cette même somme plusieurs années après est allouée à l’édifice au titre de plan de relance de l’Etat ! ».
Finalement, pourquoi créer un festival culturel « Reims Scènes d’Europe », quand une séance de Conseil municipal peut parfois se muer en vaudeville.

Keep an eye on “Randy’s Favorites” for his best ideas and creative insight on a variety of subjects! For starters:

~ Offer to collect old coffee grounds from your local coffee shop (they’ll be happy to get rid of them!) and spread them around your garden to enrich the soil. Are you facing unpleasant pet smells in your car? Place a dish of coffee grounds in a dish overnight to absorb the odor.

~ When moving “sweaty” terra cotta pots indoors for the winter months, place everyday, stainless steel burner covers underneath the messy pots. They don’t sweat and they do hold water.

~ While pulling up annuals and trimming perennials to ready them for fall and winter, think about an alternative to planting pansies. I recently planted lettuce and spinach in my own yard and am happy to report a beautiful marbelized mix of chartreuse and dark green – pretty to look at and right there when I’m ready to pick them to add to a favorite dish!

~ Savvy gardeners know not to overlook the hardy and versatile dichondra, most popular in California because it can tolerate drought conditions well, and is versatile enough to plant between stones and walkways or as a covering for bedded areas or even on a sod roof (where I have it planted!)
~ Squeeze in time to do something nice for yourself, even at the least likely times. This past Halloween I applied a mud mask to my face just before giving out candy to trick-or-treaters … something good for my skin and quite a scare for my young callers, who thought it was cool that I had created a scary mask for the occasion!

This week, while we are super busy and I have some sinus problem….I wanted to take a minute to blog the awesome shoot I did Sunday as well as a wedding from October 24th.  Since I am not done with either just yet…I will show you a sneak from both!  I also wanted to share the exciting news of being featured in Collages.net’s monthly newsletter for November.

Collages.net has been my lab for as long as I needed to outsource any printing. I used them before I started my business on my own because I loved (and still do love) their product line and the simplicity of creating my clients online galleries through them for a one time fee per upload and not monthly like others.  I really liked this because this allowed me the happiness and ease in knowing that if I didn’t need to upload a gallery one month, I didn’t need to pay for it.  It makes life much simpler for me and my clients, and that makes the world go round.

Taking Time to Smell the Roses in the Garden of Delight

Trends are changing all around us, often so fast that it is hard to keep op with them. However they are becoming more important as showing we are aware of the latest trends is one of the status symbols of today. We can all afford that expensive dress but who has the knowledge of wearing tomorrow’s fashion today.

In order to predict the trends for flowers, and in particular wedding flowers, I first want to go back over the past few years to see were we are coming from.

In 2004 the trends in floral designs were inspired by a hugely complex world were we were swamped with information. Existing values were changing. Life speeded past us and appeared to be a huge tangle of paradoxes making it difficult to bring things sharply into focus. In a bid to regain the upper hand once more and to define our own guidelines we looked to create a calm environment where we could consider our options. An environment where we felt at home. This is why 2004 was filled with soft and natural, country-garden style arrangements in soft colours.

In 2005 our inspiration was based on the fact that we were committed to “everything”, every minute of the day. This translated into loose and natural, sometimes “chaotic looking” bouquets. We were looking for a summer holiday feeling with the emphasis on freedom without structure.

2006 Is the year of focussing on our Social individualism. We were frequently involved with our own personal lives. We want things to be good for us and anything should be possible. The trend has heightened the demand for luxury and glamour. We are becoming acclimatised to life in the fast lane. Our boredom threshold is lower and we are more inclined to feel things are moving too slowly than was formerly the case. This translated itself in a year were flowers are more dramatic in shape and colour than before. Combinations that were wrong before are today’s norm.

But where are we going from here? For over 20 years I’ve been asking myself this question. In the past my inspiration would have come from architecture, fashion and art. The past years I tend to look at people, what they do, and more important, what they would like to do.

In a recent interview with Paris Hilton, the person that did not only desire but also live all of this year’s trend to the full (We want things to be good for us and anything should be possible), she mentioned she was going to take time out to smell the roses.

I believe floral trends for summer 2007 will focus strongly on being fully in tune with the seasons. Still holding on to our individuality, but also looking for a fairytale/paradisiacal, expressive and energetic style.

Translating this into flowers I see for next summer the use of strong, bright colours combined to contrast with a few dark neutrals to give the impression of an imaginary, fairytale world. The use of green and turquoise is going to play an important role.

An opulent bouquet of decorative flowers such as Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise), Bright coloured Gerbera, Purple Vanda orchids, or some magnificent red and yellow Gloriosa lilies combined with coloured foliage and a single long striped feather.

Holding these summer trend as a tread for 2007, we will see a softer variety of this theme throughout the spring using lots of pastels coloured flowers such as Freesia’s, Narcissus, Syringa (lilac) and tulips in combination with soft blossom twigs in natural hand tied bouquets.

At the end of summer we will turn to pink and purple Anthurium, Celosia, Dendrobium orchids, Eryngium (thistle) and Dahlia’s combined with black and chocolate coloured materials and small details of yellow and gold. Bouquets will be smaller and a little more definite in shape with foliage only used if it is making a real statement.

In the winter the purple and pink will remain as an important colour however toned down to a much paler version. This in combination with lots of white, black and tones of grey. I see a compact bouquet of 30 pale lilac carnations (Yes, Carnations are back again), pressed together into a compact egg shaped bouquet resting on a collar of large, folded silver leaves and white Gypsophylla (baby’s breath). Think of a Neo-Classicism dramatic shape, a miniature winter fairytale palace. Stems will be wrapped with soft ribbons, however large bows are out. The much smaller winter bouquets will have its impact trough a strong shape rather than trough colour. Other flowers that will work well in this winter trend are Nerine, Dianthus (carnations), Zanthedeschia (calla lilies), lilac and pink Roses, Hippeastrum (Amaryllis), Ranunculus and Hyacinths.

Deux postures possibles au PS après l’épisode du week-end, qui a vu Ségolène Royal jouer les trouble-fête à Dijon au rassemblement organisé par son ancien allié Vincent Peillon. Garder ses distances, comme Jospin qui dit ne pas vouloir s’en mêler ou Aubry qui n’a pas réagi ; ou jouer les accablés en lâchant un commentaire excédé et plus ou moins laconique.

C’est Jack Lang qui a ouvert le deuxième groupe dimanche en se disant «atterré» de «l’attidude (de Royal) au cours de ce week-end et qui jette sur le parti socialiste une certaine forme de discrédit».

Registre plus deuxième degré pour Aurélie Filippetti, députée de Moselle et ex-proche de Royal, qui surfe sur l’actualité ce lundi en proposant, «à l’heure où il y a une proposition de loi qui a été déposée pour interdire la fessée», de «rétablir la fessée au Parti socialiste pour nous rappeler à la réalité». «Ça ferait plaisir au moins aux 17 millions d’électeurs qui nous avaient fait confiance à la présidentielle et qui ne supportent plus ces guéguerres de personnes et le spectacle désolant que l’on donne parfois de nous-mêmes.»

Son homologue de l’Essonne Manuel Valls, qui n’était pas à Dijon et s’en félicite, qualifie aussi d’«absurde et pathétique» le raté dijonnais. Au passage, le candidat aux primaires pour la présidentielle de 2012 ne se prive pas de pointer le «problème de cohérence et de crédibilité» de Royal: ses «prises de positions», la manière dont «elle s’est invitée à une réunion à laquelle elle n’était pas désirée» sont «une manière de faire de la politique qui est ancienne», a-t-il taclé Canal+. Et d’enterrer l’Espoir à gauche, le courant de Vincent Peillon né à Reims, qui est «derrière nous, et n’a plus beaucoup de sens».

«Mauvais épisode»

«Lamentable», s’est de son côté borné à commenter Laurent Fabius. Un adjectif «qui a dû être ressenti par beaucoup de gens»,pense l’ancien adversaire de Royal aux primaires pour la présidentielle, interrogé lors d’une conférence de presse sur la réforme territoriale au siège du PS, rue de Solférino.

Un «mauvais épisode» pour le député PS de Seine-Saint-Denis Claude Bartolone, qui tente un rappel à l’ordre: «Les socialistes doivent savoir que la gauche les attend sur la définition d’un autre projet beaucoup plus que sur un comportement individuel.»

Tendance maître d’école aussi chez Pierre Moscovici, qui«souhaite que cela cesse»: «J’ai pu observer cette mauvaise querelle de loin», a commenté le député PS du Doubs, interrogé par l’AFP. «Je pense que ces attitudes agressives, ces violences verbales en public» pour savoir qui est le leader d’un courant,«tout ça est négatif». Il faut que «les socialistes se remettent au boulot sur l’essentiel», c’est-à-dire «le projet».
