<title><![CDATA[El sevillista Bourdais se queda con la última pole de la Superleague 09]]></title>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span>N</span>o se podía pedir más emoción a la última prueba de la temporada de la Superleague Fórmula. La pole fue para el francés Sebastien Bourdais, al volante del coche del Sevilla, mientras que los contendientes por el título partirán en el centro del pelotón, con Adrián Vallés (Liverpool) en la decimocuarta posición y Craig Dolby (Tottenham Hotspur) en la décima. María De Villota, única mujer participante en la Superleague Fórmula saldrá desde el puesto 17, con el coche del Atlético de Madrid.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Al contrario de lo que se podía esperar, los pilotos que no tienen opciones por el título fueron los que acapararon las primeras posiciones en la parrilla de salida, con el ex piloto de F1, Sebastien Bourdais saliendo desde la primera posición tras vencer en la final al coche del Anderlecht, pilotado por Yelmer Buurman. Precisamente fue este piloto el que arruinó la vuelta rápida del levantino Adrián Vallés en la calificación, al estorbarle en la zona de las eses de Le Mans cuando el de Teulada estaba con sus ruedas nuevas. El argentino Esteban Guerrieri,(Olympiacos) que aun tiene posibilidades matemáticas de alzarse con el título, ya que cuenta con 259 puntos, frente a los 350 de Vallés o los 301 de Dolby, se colocó en la tercera posición de la parrilla de salida, por delante del brasileño Pizzonia (Corinthians).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Sebastien Bourdais, con el coche del Sevilla, estaba muy contento de salir desde la &#8220;pole&#8221;.<strong> </strong><strong><strong>&#8220;Es una pista complicada y muy técnica, y que con este coche se hace aun más difícil. Adelantar será difícil, por lo que salir desde la &#8220;pole&#8221; es una garantía. Espero arrancar bien, y estar al  abrigo de posibles encontronazos que se pueden producir en la primera vuelta, ya que hay varios sitios propicios para ello. Espero poder gana</strong>r ya que estamos en España y corro con el Sevilla. Sería una buena forma de terminar la temporada hacer un gran papel en las dos carreras, y sobre todo también ganar la final&#8221;, </strong>comentaba el piloto galo.</p>

<title><![CDATA[El Sevilla, favorito también en el Jarama para el próximo fin de semana]]></title>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><img class="alignleft" src="http://www.f1-live.com/f1/photos/imgactu/zoom09/bourdais-superleague-z-01_040909.jpg" alt="" width="317" height="150" />Si hay un equipo que presenta claro favoritismo para la prueba de Madrid (Circuito del Jarama, 7 y 8 de noviembre) que cierra la temporada de la Superlegue Formula, ese es el Sevilla F.C. El equipo español ha alcanzado, gracias a Sebastien Bourdais, llegado directamente desde la Fórmula 1, el máximo protagonismo en las dos últimas citas. En Estoril logró hacerse con la victoria en la segunda carrera, tras haber gozado apenas de 100 kilómetros de adaptación al nuevo monoplaza y en Monza ganó la primera de las carreras, la matinal del domingo.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Su llegada justo en el ecuador de la temporada de la Superleague, casi le imposibilitaba matemáticamente para poder alcanzar al Liverpool de Adrián Vallés, quien con resultados basados en la regularidad, sigue siendo el líder y el máximo favorito para adjudicarse el título en la pista madrileña dentro de una semana.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La historia de Bourdais (Le Mans, 28/2/1979) es una de las más complicadas para llegar a la Fórmula 1. A cambio, se convirtió por el camino en el piloto europeo más laureado en la fórmulas estadounidenses. Es casi dos años mayor que Fernando Alonso y cumplirá 31 el próximo febrero. Sus inicios en monoplazas fueron brillantes, ganando el campeonato francés de F3 en 1998. Un año más tarde repitió título y disputó sus primeras 24 Horas de Le Mans con sólo 20 años, a bordo de un Porsche 911. En la antesala de la Fórmula 1, fue el vencedor del título de la Fórmula 3000 (la antecesora de la GP2) en 2002. Estaba en el programa de desarrollo de pilotos de Renault F1, en un año en el que Alonso ya era probador de Renault F1. Al año siguiente, 2003, el asturiano debutó con la marca del rombo y Bourdais no quiso seguir en Renault, viendo cómo sus posibilidades de un volante eran escasas.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tomó la decisión de hacer las américas y perseverar en monoplazas, en lugar de ir a turismos o GT, las opciones que eligen la mayoría en Europa cuando no se puede optar a la F1. No pudo escoger un mejor camino, pues recaló en el equipo de Paul Newman, el emblemático Newman-Hass y en su debut en la Champ Car ya logró el cuarto puesto. Los años siguientes fueron de éxito pleno, pues ganó los campeonatos de 2004, 2005, 2006 y 2007, algo nunca logrado por un europeo. Pero le faltaba la guinda y quería regresar a Europa para intentar triunfar en la Formula 1 en 2008. Tras una prueba frustrada con Flavio Briatore, Toro Rosso le dio su confianza. Su pareja de baile fue nada menos que Sebastian Vettel, algo que no le benefició. A pesar de todo puntuó en su primera carrera en 2008, algo que no logró repetir en el resto del año.</p>
<p>En 2009, tras el Gran Premio de Alemania, Toro Rosso tomó la decisión de sustituirlo por el español Jaime Alguersuari. pese a todo, su temporada no había sido peor que la de Buemi, su compañero de equipo, y había puntuado en dos ocasiones /Australia y Mónaco). La Supeleague Formula le ofreció un asiento de inmediato, algo que ha revitalizado el atractivo campeonato que mezcla las emoción de las carreras de coches con la pasión por los grandes equipos de fútbol de todo el mundo.</p>
<p>Se demuestra también con el ejemplo de otros pilotos de F1, como son Giorgio Pantano (A.C. Milan), Antonio Pizzonia (Corinthians) y Enrique Bernoldi (Flamengo) que la Superleague puede ofrecer un atractivo competitivo para estrellas mundiales del automovilismo.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Superleague Fórmula em Monza: Corridas]]></title>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O ex-piloto da Toro Rosso Fórmula 1, Sébastien Bourdais, venceu para o Sevillana 1ª corrida do fim-de-semana da Superleague Fórmula em Monza.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O piloto francês demonstrou o seu excelente momento na partida lançada e na primeira chicana passou para a frente de Esteban Guerrieri, que partiu da <em>pole position</em> com o carro do Olympiacos.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Esteban Guerrieri foi forte na perseguição, mas o piloto do Olympiacos teve a tarefa dificultada por María de Villota, do Atlético de Madrid. A piloto espanhol protagonizou uma batalha divertida. María de Villota ficou na liderança na volta 13, visto que foi a última a fazer o <em>pitstop</em> obrigatório.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Enquanto Sébastien Bourdais passava o carro do Atlético de Madrid com uma jogada ousada na parte externa da curva Parabólica, María de Villota foi &#8220;teimosa&#8221; e recusou-se a dar caminho a Esteban Guerrieri e quase chegou a colocar o piloto argentino na relva, depois de cortar a 1ª chicana, numa jogada duvidosa para ficar à frente. Esteban Guerrieri perdeu 2.5 segundos para Sébastien Bourdais com o incidente, mas foi forte na perseguição e reduziu a desvantagem até aos 0.3s com que cortou a meta.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O triundo do Sevilla é um incentivo moral ao francês e à equipa da Reid Motorsport, que foi formada em apenas 7 dias depois da reestruturação da antiga equipa, a Ultimate Motorsport. A equipa, liderada pelo antigo manager da equipa Ultimate Fórmula 3 Anthony Reid, prestou homenagem a Ray Mallock, operador no WTCC, usando o espaço no seu escritório, que anteriormente Ray Mallock usou na preparação do McLaren SLR, num prazo tão curto.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Numa excelente estreia no campeonato, o piloto de Fórmula 2 Julien Jousse, de um dos clubes &#8220;caseiros&#8221;, o AS Roma, conseguiu um lugar final no pódio. Julien Jousse, que substitui o compatriota Franck Perera, fez uma boa pilotagem para subir na tabela desde o 5º posto onde começou a corrida.</p>
<p>O líder do campeonato, Adrián Vallés, do Liverpool, foi o 4º e dilatou a sua vangagem no campeonato face ao principal rival, o piloto do Tottenham, Craig Dolby. Houve bastantes ultrapassagens nesta corrida; Adrián Vallés subiu de 8º na grelha, com Craig Dolby a ir atrás do espanhol na corrida, depois de partir de 9º.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O resultado foi uma impressionante recuperação de Craig Dolby, que teve uma falha na válvula actuadora da sua caixa de velocidades na qualificação, que lhe permitiu apenas fazer uma volta lançada.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O RSC Anderlecht, com Yelmuur Buurman ao volante, foi o 6º, beneficiando de um suposto problema técnico no carro de Antônio Pizzonia nas últimas voltas. O piloto brasileiro do Corinthians tinha estabelecido a volta mais rápida no seu caminho rumo ao 5º posto, antes de perder 4 segundos nos tempos por volta quando a corrida caminhava para o final.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Em 7º lugar ficou Tristan Gommendy, no carro do FC Porto, e atrás dele ficou o carro do Galatasaray, tripulado por Ho-Pin Tung.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Max Wissel, do FC Basel, que partira de 2º, e o &#8220;herói local&#8221; Giorgio Pantano, do AC Milan,  desceram bastante na classificação. Acabando num modesto 9º lugar, o piloto do FC Basel acabou com a esperança de chegar ao título e perdeu terreno para Craig Dolby. Giorgio Pantano esteve em queda livre desde o início e atrasou-se ainda mais devido a um <em>pitstop</em> lento, e acabou no 15º posto.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O melhor dos clubes brasileiros, o SC Corinthians, cujo carro é pilotado por Antônio Pizzonia, foi o 10º classificado. A outra equipa brasileira, o CR Flamengo, cujo carro é pilotado por Jonathan Kennard, foi apenas o 17º.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Quanto ao único piloto português em prova, Pedro Petiz, do Sporting CP, abandonou, depois de um incidente que lhe estragou a asa e suspensão dianteira do seu carro. Pedro Petiz foi também o único a abandonar na corrida.</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;"><img class="alignright" title="Primeira vitória do Sporting na Superleague - " src="http://autosport.aeiou.pt/users/0/51/ba3819fc.jpeg" border="0" alt="Primeira vitória do Sporting na Superleague - " width="394" height="276" />Pedro Petiz, do Sporting CP, obteve a sua primeira vitória na Superleague Fórmula, em Monza, e para isso muito contribuiu a <em>pole postion</em>, que &#8220;saiu&#8221; da inversão total das posições da 1ª corrida para a formação da grelha da 2ª corrida.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O piloto português teve uma 1ª corrida com problemas, que culminaram no incidente com o piloto do FC Porto, Tristan Gommendy, na aproximação da via das boxes, quando o piloto francês activou o limitador de velocidade prematuramente.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Pedro Petiz, de 22 anos, e vencedor do Renault Megane Trophy em 2007, partiu da <em>pole postion </em>devido à inversão das posições da 1ª corrida na formação da grelha de partida, e &#8220;limitou-se&#8221; a ganhar alguma vantagem e a geri-la, para obter o seu maior triunfo nos monolugares.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O Tottenham Hotspur, com Craig Dolby ao volante, foi o 2º classificado, depois de partir do 7º posto na grelha, e aproximou-se do seu rival no campeonato, Adrián Vallés, do Liverpool FC. Craig Dolby fez a paragem nas boxes na volta 10, pouco depois de terem entrado muitos pilotos a mass scrum which no <em>pitlane</em>, causando um engarrafamento e alguns pequenos incidentes na via das boxes.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">A pilotagem de Craig Dolby foi, contudo, eclipsada pela excelente corrida de Sébastien Bourdais, que partindo de último depois de ter ganho a 1ª corrida, conseguiu o lugar mais baixo do pódio na 2ª corrida. Sébastien Bourdais soma assim 90 pontos este fim-de-semana, em 100 possíveis, mas foi rápido a elogiar os esforços do seu rival do Olympiacos, Esteban Guerrieri, que foi o 4º na 2ª corrida.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Sébastien Bourdais disse pensar que o &#8220;Esteban teve o pacote mais rápido este fim-de-semana, ele correu mesmo perto de nós na 1ª corrida,&#8221;. O francês disse também que &#8220;Nós os dois começámos de trás [na corrida 2], mas infelizmente tivémos alguns incidentes. Quando o carro do FC Basel, do [Max] Wissel e o [Antônio] Pizzonia tiveram problemas, as coisas abriram para mim, o que foi bem bom.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O Liverpool FC, com Adrián Vallés ao volante, foi o 5º, menos de 1 segundo à frente do RSC Anderlecht, que tem Yelmer Buurman ao comando.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O primeiro de muitos incidentes aconteceu logo na 1ª chicana, quando Jonathan Kennard (CR Flamengo), que tinha partido da 1ª linha, e Giorgio Pantano (AC Milan) se tocaram, o que resultou num pião do piloto do Flamengo, indo o piloto britânico parar ao último posto. Este incidente permitiu a Pedro Petiz ter desde logo uma vantagem de 2 segundos sobre o mais directo adversário na conclusão da 1ª volta, com Giorgio Pantano a  agir como um &#8220;tampão&#8221; traseiro ao piloto do Sporting CP e a permitir a Pedro Petiz o ganho de mais terreno sobre o 2º classificado.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">iorgio Pantano foi, contudo, descendo posições, terminando no 11º posto, e a paragem nas boxes correu-lhe mal, sendo a &#8220;causa&#8221; do caos no <em>pitlane</em>. O carro do AC Milan ficou parado numa posição perigosa na via das boxes, e Max Wissel teve que parar para evitar colidir no carro de Giorgio Pantano. Assim, ficando parado e atravessado na via das boxes, Max Wissel teve que ser empurrado pelos mecânicos, e ao sair atropelou um deles, que deu uma &#8220;cambalhota&#8221; e por pouco que não foi atropelado por um carro que seguia para fora das boxes.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Quanto ao SC Corinthians, cujo carro é pilotado por Antônio Pizzonia, teve mais uma corrida com bastante luta, até que o carro teve novamente problemas técnicos na parte final da corrida.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">O FC Porto, com Tristan Gommendy ao volante, e o CR Flamengo, com Jonathan Kennard ao volante, abandonaram a corrida.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Com uma ronda dupla em falta, que será disputada em Jarama, Adrián Vallés e o Liverpool estão na liderança, 59 pontos à frente do Tottenham e Craig Dolby. Com o excelente fim-de-semana, Esteban Guerrieri e o Olympiacos subiram ao 3º posto do campeonato.</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Former Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Sebastien Bourdais claimed victory for Seville in the opening Superleague Formula race at Monza today.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The Frenchman demonstrated excellent timing at the rolling start and outbraked pole-man Esteban Guerrieri from the inside at the first chicane.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Guerrieri chased hard for second but the Olympiacos driver&#8217;s task was made difficult by Atletico Madrid&#8217;s Maria de Villota, who severely disrupted an entertaining battle. De Villota had been promoted to the lead on lap 13, through dint of being the last driver to make a mandatory pitstop.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">While Bourdais passed the obstructive car with a bold move around the outside of the Parabolica, de Villota stubbornly refused to give way to Guerrieri and came close to putting the Argentine on the grass after cutting the first chicane in a questionable bid to stay ahead. Guerrieri lost 2.5 seconds to Bourdais in the incident, but chased hard to close within 0.3s at the chequered flag.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Seville&#8217;s triumph is a moral boost for the Frenchman&#8217;s Reid Motorsport crew, who were formed in just seven days after a restructuring at former entrant Ultimate Motorsport. The team, led by former Ultimate Formula 3 team-manager Anthony Reid, paid tribute to WTCC entrant Ray Mallock for the use of space in their workshop, formerly used for Mallock&#8217;s McLaren SLR preparation, at such short notice.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">In an excellent debut for home club AS Roma, Formula 2 driver Julien Jousse claimed the final place on the podium. Jousse, replacing French compatriot Franck Perera, put in a fine drive to climb through the order from fifth on the grid.</p>
<p>Championship leader Adrian Valles took fourth to extend his points lead over nearest rival, Tottenham&#8217;s Craig Dolby. The high drag Panoz cars produced abundant overtaking; Valles rose from eighth on grid with Dolby following the Spaniard across the line having started ninth.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The result was an impressive recovery for Dolby, who suffered a gearbox valve actuator failure in qualifying which had restricted him to just one flying lap.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Anderlecht&#8217;s Yelmuur Buurman took sixth place, benefiting from suspected technical trouble for Antonio Pizzonia over the closing laps. The Brazilian Corinthians racer had set fastest lap on his way to a fleeting fifth, before losing four seconds of lap time as the race drew to a close.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Second row men Max Wissel and local hero Giorgio Pantano both plummeted down the order. In finishing a distant ninth, FC Basel&#8217;s Wissel sustained damage to his title hopes and lost ground to Dolby. Pantano was in freefall from the start and was further delayed by a lengthy pitstop.</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The Portuguese had endured a troubled race one, culminating in ramming Porto&#8217;s Tristan Gommendy on the approach to the pitlane when the Frenchman engaged his pitlane speed limiter a little prematurely.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The 22-year-old tin-top convert, a winner of the Renault Megane Trophy in 2007, picked up the reverse grid pole for his woes and maintained the advantage to claim his first major open-wheel triumph.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">In a manic race, Tottenham Hotspur&#8217;s Craig Dolby charged through the field to take second place from the seventh row of the grid, in the process edging closer to title rival Adrian Valles in the points race. Dolby was assisted by pitting on lap 10, one tour after a mass scrum which resulted in a log jam in the narrow pitlane.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Dolby&#8217;s drive was eclipsed by that of race one victor Sebastien Bourdais, who stormed from last on the grid to secure the final step of the podium. Bourdais has scored an impressive 90 points out of possible 100 over the weekend, but was quick to pay compliment to the efforts of rival Esteban Guerrieri, who finished fourth this afternoon for Olympiacos.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;I think Esteban was the quickest package this weekend, he ran us really close in race one,&#8221; said Bourdais. &#8220;We both started at the back [in race two], but unfortunately he had some incidents. When the FC Basel car of Wissel and [Antonio] Pizzonia had problems, things just opened up for me, which was quite nice.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Liverpool&#8217;s Adrian Valles took fifth, just half a second ahead at the chequered flag of Anderlecht&#8217;s Dutch pilot Yelmur Buurman.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The first of several incidents occurred almost immediately when front row qualifier Jonathan Kennard and AC Milan&#8217;s Giorgio Pantano made contact away from the start at the first chicane. Kennard&#8217;s Flamengo car was tapped into a pirouette by the former GP2 champion, forcing the Englishman to rejoin in last position. The incident allowed Petiz a two-second break over the field at the conclusion of the opening lap, with Pantano acting as an unwitting rear gunner for the Sporting CP man by continuing to back up the field in second place.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Pantano would slip to an eventual 11th place, not helped by being in the thick of the pitlane chaos along with FC Basel&#8217;s Wissel. After another fighting drive, Pizzonia&#8217;s Corinthians machine was once again struck down with technical trouble in the latter stages of the race.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">With one round of the championship, at Jarama, remaining, Liverpool&#8217;s Valles retains the points lead, 59 ahead of Dolby. Guerrieri&#8217;s strong weekend has helped to propel Olympiacos up to third.</p>

Sebastien Bourdais volvió a ser el auténtico protagonista de una prueba de la Superleague Fórmula al igual que lo hiciese hace un mes en Estoril. El francés ganó, saliendo segundo, la primera manga del domingo en Monza (Italia), mientras que obtuvo un más que meritorio tercer puesto (la parrilla invertida con respecto a la primera prueba le hacía salir octavo). De esta forma, Bourdais sube por tercera vez al cajón en cuatro pruebas, lo que demuestra con hechos que se trata de un piloto al que la categoría se le queda muy pequeña.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Habiendo disputado únicamente tres de las cinco pruebas celebradas esta temporada, el bólido sevillista puede presumir de estar situado en una cómoda 13ª posición con 169 puntos. Además, ha sido proclamado ganador del fin de semana por el resultado acumulado de las dos mangas. No sería extraño volver a ver a Bourdais en el Sánchez Pizjuán ofreciendo la recientemente obtenida copa. El segundo fin de semana de noviembre (6 y 7), se disputará la sexta y última prueba en el circuito del Jarama. No estaría mal mojarle la oreja al Atlético en su propia casa&#8230;</p>

Zijn eerste raceweekend met FC Sevilla in Estoril verliep aanvankelijk niet echt gesmeerd, maar de Fransman verbeterde gestaag en zette deze namiddag de kroon op het werk met een zege in de super final.</p>
<p>De transfer van Sébastien Bourdais is voor de Superleague Formula ongetwijfeld een grote vangst. Bourdais heeft met zijn vier Champ Car titels en zijn twee seizoenen bij het F1-team van Toro Rosso een goed gevuld CV, en zijn komst draagt zeker bij tot de credibiliteit van de nog jonge autosportserie. Superleague Formula heeft nu met Bernoldi, Pizzonia, Pantano en Bourdais vier ex F1-piloten in dienst. Bourdais verklaarde eerder deze week dat Superleague Formula vandaag het beste alternatief is voor Formule 1.</p>
<p>De keuze van Bourdais was niet zonder risico&#8217;s, maar zijn prestatie in Estoril heeft aangetoond dat zijn talent intact is. De terugkeer naar een spec car serie met Panoz wagens heeft de Fransman meteen naar het juiste vormpeil gebracht. Bourdais was door een aantal journalisten ook getipt als mogelijke vervanger van Luca Badoer bij Ferrari, maar die plaats is intussen ingenomen door Giancarlo Fisichella. Of Bourdais ook in 2010 zal aantreden in de Superleague Formula, valt af te wachten. Het is best mogelijk dat Bourdais volgend jaar opnieuw naar de States zal trekken om voor Newman/Haas/Lanigan in de IndyCar series te rijden.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;">El espíritu de igualdad que caracteriza a la Superleague Fórmula ha permitido al Sevilla conseguir el triunfo en el circuito de Estoril en la &#8220;Superfinal&#8221; disputada en tierras lusas. Sebastien Bourdais, recién aterrizado de la Formula 1, salió 15º en la primera manga pero consiguió remontar hasta la undécima. Pero debido al reglamento de la competición, la parrilla se invirtió para la segunda manga y Bourdais partió desde la octava plaza. Aquí si que pudo verse el nivel del piloto galo, que consiguió auparse hasta la segunda posición (por detrás del Oporto) y de paso subir al Sevilla por primera vez al podio de la Superleague Fórmula 2009.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Esta segunda posición otorgó al coche blanquirrojo una de las seis plazas para la &#8220;Superfinal&#8221;, en la que se enfrentan los tres mejores de cada una de las dos mangas y allí Bourdais no tuvo rival. Esta &#8220;Superfinal&#8221; se disputa en sólo tres de las seis pruebas de la temporada y no otorga puntos para la general, sino un sustancioso premio en metálico para el ganador (100.000 €). Con dos pruebas sin disputar, Bourdais continúa colista en la general, aunque el PSV está ya a seis puntos). El primer fin de semana de octubre continuará el campeonato en Monza, para cerrarse un mes después en el Jarama madrileño.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Por otro lado, el <strong>Sevilla C </strong>de Ramón Tejada solventó con un triunfo su primera salida de la temporada ante el Los Palacios, con una incontestable victoria por un tanto a tres. Seis puntos de seis posibles para el segundo filial, con goles de Mario, Alejandro y Francis. Los nuestros son segundos por detrás de la Balompédica Linense pues el tercero cuenta ya con cuatro puntos en su haber. Como nota negativa, el robo de algunas pertenencias de los sevillistas en el vestuario durante el transcurso del choque. El próximo fin de semana, duelo de filiales con el Cádiz B.</p>

O Sporting, com Pedro Petiz ao volante, foi o melhor representante nacional na primeira corrida da Superleague Fórmula no Estoril. O Futebol Clube do Porto, com Álvaro Parente ao volante, abandonou após um pião para evitar uma colisão com o Atlético de Madrid.</p>
<p>Álvaro Parente estava em sétimo, após as paragens nas boxes, mas uma classificação nos cinco primeiros era possível. Contudo, quando o piloto luso tentava passar María de Villota, no carro do Atlético de Madrid, a espanhola foi à gravilha e Álvaro Parente entrou em pião para a evitar.</p>

<p>Pedro Petiz estava no oitavo posto com o carro do Sporting antes das paragens nas boxes, mas desceu algumas posições e depois o carro ficou muito mais lento, a cerca de 2.5 segundos dos tempos dos carros à sua frente, e apenas garantiu o nono lugar com o abandono do FC Midtyjilland.</p>
<p>Esteban Guerrieri venceu a prova para o Olympiacos, ultrapassando Antônio Pizzonia, do SC Corinthians e Adrían Vallés, do Liverpool FC, nas últimas voltas. Este foi o primeiro triunfo do clube grego esta temporada.</p>

<p>Álvaro Parente, que estava na sua 1ª ronda no campeonato, manteve-se em segunda na partida mas a equipa de boxes do FC Porto foi a mais rápida e o piloto português conseguiu passar o CR Flamengo, cujo carro é conduzido por Enrique Bernoldi. A partir daí, o piloto português manteve a liderança da prova, mesmo estando sob pressão de Sébastien Bourdais, no carro do Sevilla FC, nas últimas voltas.</p>
<p>Pedro Petiz teve que desistir logo na terceira volta, depois de uma avaria no compressor da caixa de velocidades (avaria que já sucede pela terceira este ano no carro do Sporting CP). Antes de abandonar, o piloto do Sporting estava no sexto lugar, a atacar o quinto classificado, depois de ter partido do 9º lugar.</p>
<p>Devido a uma alteração dos regulamentos a meio do campeonato, o FC Porto acabou por não se qualificar para a Super-Final, com a contabilização da média dos resultados das duas corridas, e ficou impedido de lutar pelos cem mil euros de prémio dado ao vencedor da 3ª corrida.</p>

<p><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong><span style="color:#000000;font-weight:normal;">Sébastien Bourdais, que se estreou este fim-de-semana na Superleague Fórmula, venceu a Super-Final da ronda do Estoril, arrecadando o prémio de 100.000 €.</span></strong></span></p>
<p>O piloto do Sevilla FC passou para a liderança da corrida depois de o também ex-piloto de Fórmula 1 Antônio Pizzonia, do SC Corinthians, ter perdido a liderança na primeira volta.</p>
<p>Antônio Pizzonia partia da <em>pole position</em>, ao lado de Yelmer Buurman, do Anderlecht, que saiu de pista perto do muro das boxes. Isto permitiu a Adrián Vallés, do Liverpool, subir para 2º, enquanto Sébastien Bourdais e Esteban Guerrieri (Olympiacos) lutavam pelo 3º posto na entrada para a 1ª curva, com Sébastien Bourdais a levar a melhor sobre o piloto do Olympiacos</p>
<p>Adrián Vallés ficou na frente na curva 3, quando o líder, Antônio Pizzonia, bloqueou as rodas e foi parar à gravilha. Duas curvas mais tarde, Sébastien Bourdais passou o líder do campeonato, levando Esteban Guerrieri com ele.</p>
<p>A partir daí, Sébastien Bourdais geriu a diferença para Esteban Guerrieri, cruzando a linha de meta 1.2 segundos à frente do argentino, após a corrida sprint de 5 voltas.</p>
<p>Sébastien Bourdais afirmou que &#8220;É óptimo estar de regresso ao topo do pódio,&#8221;. &#8220;Tem sido uma montanha russa este fim-de-semana, mas não que carro estás a conduzir quando vences.&#8221;</p>
<p>Adrián Vallés acabou distante dos 2 primeiros, no 3º posto, à frente de Yelmer Buurman. Antônio Pizzonia e Giorgio Pantano (do AC Milan) não acabaram esta corrida.</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;"><img src="http://www.autosport.com/images/upload/1252240215.jpg" border="1" alt="Esteban Guerrieri celebrates Estoril victory" hspace="10" width="275" height="183" align="right" />Esteban Guerrieri scored the first victory in Superleague Formula for Greek club Olympiacos at Estoril on Sunday morning, the Argentinian passing both Adrian Valles (Liverpool) and Antonio Pizzonia (Corinthians) to secure the win.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Guerrieri &#8211; who also won at Zolder driving for Al Ain &#8211; leapt into the lead from the outset, as poleman Pizzonia appeared to miss the lights at the rolling start and was rammed from behind by Valles. Guerrieri extended a 1.7s lead before his mandatory pitstop, but there his lead was negated as both Valles and Pizzonia moved ahead of him with faster stops.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">But the 24-year-old, who has driven for three clubs this season, was not to be denied. After all the leaders struggled to pass late-stopping backmarker Maria de Villota, Guerrieri attacked the delayed Pizzonia around the outside at Turn 6 on lap 20. The Brazilian held him off there, but Guerrieri lunged again at the following corner and pulled off a brilliant pass.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Guerrieri then chased down leader Valles, and took full advantage when the Liverpool car slid onto the kerbs at Turn 2, the legacy of a late-race brake problem, allowing Guerreri to dive down the inside into Turn 3. He reeled off the remaining four laps to score a 2.1s victory.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;The race was excellent,&#8221; said Guerrieri. &#8220;The pitstop wasn&#8217;t great but the car was great. In the second stint I tried not to kill the tyres early on, and saved my push-to-pass for the late stages too. The others were really struggling for rear grip by then, but my car was nicely balanced.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Pizzonia finished third, but was lucky not to be penalised after he left the pits with his rear jack still attached. Fortunately, it quickly fell off and there was no sanction.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Yelmer Buurman was fourth for Anderlecht, ahead of John Martin (Rangers) and Giorgio Pantano (AC Milan). Tottenham&#8217;s Craig Dolby could only manage eighth, but that moved him into second in the championship as FC Basel&#8217;s car refused to engage first gear and Max Wissel was a non-starter.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Of the newcomers, Alvaro Parente crashed out of 10th for Porto when he tripped over de Villota after she ran wide at Turn 2, firing him into the barriers as she rejoined into his path.</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Parente took the lead during the mandatory pitstop phase, as early leader Enrique Bernoldi (Flamengo) stayed out too late. Bernoldi gave away a lead of over 3 seconds by staying out three laps too late, as Parente was lapping over 1.5s quicker after his stop.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Parente held off a late charge from Formula 1 refugee Sebastien Bourdais (Sevilla), who closed a 5s deficit to 1s by the finish, but the four-time Champ Car title winner was never close enough to find a way past. Bourdais had passed Bernoldi with a textbook push-to-pass move into Turn 1 just after half distance.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The other potential race winner was Franck Perera (AS Roma), who charged up to fourth early on but suffered a disastrous pitstop when his engine stalled, putting him out of the reckoning.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Bernoldi held on to third despite huge pressure from Yelmer Buurman (Anderlecht), who charged past Antonio Pizzonia (Corinthians) and Giorgio Pantano (AC Milan) to finish fourth. This was all the more remarkable considering Buurman took a trip into the Turn 2 gravel on the opening lap and dropped to the back of the field.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Ho Pin Tung finished seventh, ahead of Rangers&#8217; John Martin, who spun after clashing with Maria de Villota (Atletico Madrid). Max Wissel (FC Basel) crossed the line ninth, but pitted too early and received a 25s penalty, which promoted title rival Adrian Valles (Liverpool).</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The Sevilla driver scooped the big money race after fellow ex-F1 racer Antonio Pizzonia (Corinthians) slid out of the lead on the opening lap.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Pizzonia led away from the standing start, squeezing fellow front-row man Yelmer Buurman of Anderlecht towards the pitwall. This allowed Adrian Valles (Liverpool) up to second, while Bourdais and opening race winner Esteban Guerrieri (Olympiacos) battled for third into Turn 1, with Bourdais just grabbing the place.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Valles hit the front at Turn 3 when leader Pizzonia locked up and slithered into the gravel, but two corners later Bourdais lunged past the series points leader, taking Guerrieri with him.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Burdais saldrá por tanto en la 15ª posición de la parrilla en la primera carrera de mañana, que se disputará a partir de las 12 de la mañana (hora española). Según el resultado del sevillista en esa manga, su posición en la segunda parrilla será inversa. De momento, Corinthians y Olympiacos copan la primera fila, mientras que Galatasaray, Flamengo y Atlético de Madrid (con María de Villota al voltante) serán los únicos que partan por detrás de Bourdais.</p>

Después de empezar la Superleague Formula 2009 sin que el Sevilla se pronunciase sobre su sorprendente desaparición del campeonato, el club anunció su vuelta a principios de agosto para la tercera prueba, la de Donington. El piloto era el argentino Guerreri, quien provenía del desaparecido Beijing Gouan. Sin embargo, después de una discreta carrera, el Sevilla FC ha anunciado a su nuevo piloto para las tres pruebas que aún restan por disputarse (la primera de ellas este fin de semana en el circuito portugués de Estoril).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">En lo que desde la propia web oficial de la Superleague califican como &#8220;El fichaje de la temporada&#8221;, el club ha anunciado la llegada de Sebastien Bourdais, piloto que hasta hace tres grandes premios formaba parte del equipo Toro Rosso en Formula 1, y que fue de los primeros en sonar para sustituir temporalmente a Felipe Massa en el equipo Ferrari. Desconocido para el gran público, a todo aquel que siga la F1 de manera asidua, el piloto francés le sonará sin duda.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Bourdais se suma así al grupo de pilotos con pasado en la máxima categoría que participan en la Superleague: Giorgio Pantano (AC Milan), Antonio Pizzonia (Corinthians) y Enrique Bernoldi (Flamengo). Además, el Atlético de Madrid ha firmado a la española María de Villota, la primera mujer que tomará parte en este campeonato.</p>

<p>4 time Champ Car champion Sebastian Bourdais and his manager Nicholas Todt have confirmed that they have agreed an out of court settlement with the Scuderia Toro Rosso.</p>
<p>The Red Bull sister team fired Bourdais after the German GP but the frenchman had a contract until the end of the season.</p>
<p>Nicholas Todt told French sports newspaper ‘L’Equipe’, “One week after the German Grand Prix, we reached an out-of-court settlement with the team. They knew it would not stand up in court.”</p></div>

<description><![CDATA[I took a long weekend earlier this month to attend the IRL Camping World Grand Prix at Watkins Glen ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I took a long weekend earlier this month to attend the IRL Camping World Grand Prix at Watkins Glen in upstate New York. All in all it wasn&#8217;t a bad experience.</p>
<p>As an F1 loving londoner, my only previous up-close experience of US open wheel racing had been the 2003 <strong>Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford</strong> race at Brands Hatch, for the <strong>London Champ Car Trophy</strong>.</p>
<p>Sebastien Bourdais won, which probably helps him put the loss of his Toro Rosso drive into context. I can imagine Seb crying himself to sleep every night, clutching his London Champ Car Trophy and muttering that Lewis Hamilton will never get one. Nor will anyone else for that matter, since the race was scrapped the following year. </p>
<p>In later years, as the series gradually lost its title sponsors to a series of unavoidable misfortunes, it became the plain old &#8216;Champ Car World Series&#8217;. The catchier name was probably scant compensation for the loss of revenue.</p>
<p>After years of separation the Champ Car World Series and the Indy Car Series have of course now merged again, in much the same way that Poland once &#8216;merged&#8217; with Germany. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s just the Indy Car Series by the way, not <strong>Firestone Presents the Indy Car Series Powered by Honda</strong>.</p>
<p>Firestone appear happy enough to have the feeder series presented as Firestone Indy Lights, presumably they feel they got a good deal, and the sanctioning body and owner of Indy Car and Indy Lights, the Indy Racing League (IRL) would be proud to trumpet the identity of a title sponsor for their main series. It seems they just don&#8217;t have one.</p>
<p>I am fascinated by the IRL. For those who don&#8217;t know, it was started by the boss of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He had a utopian vision of all american drivers racing on ovals with talent overcoming dollars. He also had a big name event &#8211; the Indy 500 - to get his series off the ground.</p>
<p>The vision arguably failed. It is well documented (look it up) that the CART / IRL split ultimately helped neither side, and when the two series merged both were pathetic shadows of their former selves.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s why I find it all so fascinating, it&#8217;s like a morbid look into F1 as it might have been. Everything is just a little bit second rate compared to F1 &#8211; from the tiny picnic tents the team bosses sit at on pit road, to the repurposed airport buggies used to pull the cars back and forth from the garages, to the modest hospitality buses, there is evidence everywhere that this is racing on a shoestring budget.</p>
<p>But that&#8217;s just superficial criticism, about unimportant fripperies. OK then, here are a few more meaty gripes:</p>
<p><strong>The cars </strong>are ancient and unloved, they most closely resemble 1989 Formula 1 cars. It&#8217;s come to something when the likes of A1GP, GP2, World Series By Renault and hell even those dodgy looking F2 cars seem more modern than the Indy Cars. They look to me like a bad home made F1 car. This wouldn&#8217;t be so sad if it weren&#8217;t for the fact that Panoz created a better looking and better sounding car for the Champ Car series which was not adopted on unification.</p>
<p><strong>Some of the events </strong>appear to be run on a shoestring, and it shows on screen. Toronto, once a Champ Car staple, seemed to more than halve its seating capacity and still the TV pictures looked low on crowd numbers, whilst the main grandstands at Watkins Glen (wasn&#8217;t I going to write about that?) were very very sparsely filled - although the GA buzz was pretty good and the tailgate zones were a blast.</p>
<p><strong>The drivers</strong> are friendly and approachable, and this is one of the best things about the series, some real characters here. But there is a feeling that talent doesn&#8217;t always get you as far as it should, and some of the best drivers are without full time drives whilst others with bigger chequebooks turn up week in and week out. Shame.</p>
<p>The racing is not the best at the moment, particularly bad on ovals with little passing and not a lot of risk taking, although measures are being looked at to change this for the next few oval races. There also appears to be an issue with big money teams apparently being able to lock out the top spots on the ovals. On street and road courses it&#8217;s not a lot better, it&#8217;s just a spec series after all and the biggest fun comes either from mistakes, from the poor handling of the cars on the shabby, bumpy courses, or from watching a talented but underfunded driver beat the might of the big money teams. (I say big money &#8211; it&#8217;s all relative of course)</p>
<p>On that note &#8211; Justin Wilson won at the Glen, a fantastic result for him and his team, who had been in the business a long time without ever troubling victory lane. Well done Justin.</p>
<p>I want to see Indy Car survive and thrive. Perhaps my next post will be more positive, I&#8217;ll work on that&#8230;</p>

<p>It has become a gimmick in the F1 talks to mention the youngest pole, the youngest win, the youngest champ. In football we look at record transfers, whilst in tennis and golf you will be noticed for your earnings.<br />
It could be that Michael Schumacher&#8217;s records will never been beaten, and everyone knows this. It will never be &#8220;the most&#8221; anymore.</p>
<p>Toro Rosso&#8217;s youth policy may not be that unexpected. Who drinks Red Bull? Not Bourdais: too old, too French.</p>
<p>As a consequence Alguersuari is barely in and already out. Webber should start talks with Brawn very soon.</p>

Ele afirma ter sido prejudicado por não ter uma nova chance no GP da Hungria, no próximo fim de semana, quando os monopostos da escuderia receberão mudanças, como a RBR obteve há três corridas. Bourdais ressalta que as modificações devem deixar os carros da STR mais competitivos, o que faria dele um candidato a pontuar na próxima prova.</p>
<p><!--more-->Com esta situação, o tetracampeão da Champ Car optou por consultar seus advogados, para estudar as opções quanto à quebra de contrato por parte da STR. A equipe ítalo-austríaca teria demitido Bourdais por &#8220;baixo rendimento&#8221;, uma cláusula bastante comum neste meio. Diante dos resultados registrados pelo parceiro dele na escuderia, o suíço Sebastien Buemi, não é difícil que a Toro Rosso ganhe alguma causa.</p>
<p>Bourdais voltará às provas americanas? Passará a pilotar em provas francesas? Ou será piloto de testes em alguma escuderia? Novidades podem surgir em breve.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>July 17 2009 – Frenchman <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourdais">Sebastien Bourdais</a> has responded to his sacking yesterday by the <a href="http://www.tororosso.com/Team/Team-Profile/News/Bourdais-Leaves-Scuderia-Toro-Rosso/">Scuderia Toro Rosso</a> team by saying he is not only ‘shocked’ and ‘disappointment’ but that he feels the team are in ‘<a href="http://www.sebastien-bourdais.com/news.asp?lng=en&#38;ArticleID=236">clear violation</a>’ of the team’s contractual obligations and has his lawyers investigating if there is a case to take to court. Without knowing the actual contract details it is impossible to ascertain if Bourdais has a case or not, but it is irrelevant as whatever the outcome the 30 year old will not be driving a F1 car again this year and probably not ever again. If you were the boss of Torro Rosso, Franz Tost, would you have sacked Bourdais? And if yes, would you have done it now or wait until the end of the season?</p>

<p>Tost explained his decision, “Sebastien’s second year with us has not met our expectations. Therefore we have decided to replace him from the next round of the world championship, the Hungarian Grand Prix.” The replacement driver has not been announced but it is widely expected that Spain’s British F3 champion and the new reserve driver for Toro Rosso, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaime_Alguersuari">Jaime Alguersuari</a> , will be brought in to partner Swiss  <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buemi">Sebastien Buemi</a>. In 2008 Bourdais was completely dominated by German <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vettel">Sebastien Vettel</a> in his rookie year and this year he has not been a match for F1 newbie Buemi. He has not delivered at all on his great potential and so has to go, right?</p>
<p>Bourdais came into Formula One with a lot of promise having won the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champ_car">Champ Car</a> title four years in a row (2004-2007) with the <a href="http://www.newman-haas.com/">Newman/Haas</a> team, the first driver ever to accomplish such a feat.  He was F3000 Champion in 2002 and was even offered a F1 drive by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrows_F1">Arrows</a> for the 2003 season but they unfortunately went bankrupt. He moved to America and was phenomenally successful in Champ Cars, producing an incredible winning percentage of 42.4%, winning 31 races from 73 starts. Even if you don’t consider Champ Car to be anywhere near the same calibre as F1, this is still a mightily impressive performance. Toro Ross must have had such high expectations when he signed up for them in 2008.</p>
<p>It wasn’t just that Vettel blew him away scoring 35 points to Bourdais’s 4 points, it was that Bourdais never seemed to get to grips with his car and did not imbed himself into the Toro Rosso team in the way he had done at Newman/Haas in the US. The Toro Rosso was not the best car, but Vettel was comfortable and at very much at home with the car to be able to get the most of out it, to push it to its limits and in doing so even managed to win the race at Monza in Italy. Vettel qualified in pole for that race and Bourdais three places behind in 4<sup>th</sup>, but by the end of the race Bourdais was 18<sup>th</sup> and over a lap behind his teammate.</p>
<p>So the pressure for Bourdais to perform was definitely on in 2009 but he had a year of F1 under his belt, he knew the team and would have a new rookie teammate racing next to him. He would have spent the winter preparing mentally and physically and the first race in Australia started off reasonably well with both cars scoring points as Bourdais finished 8<sup>th</sup> and Buemi a place ahead in 7<sup>th</sup>. This has been Toro Rosso’s best race so far of the season and Buemi has out-performed his teammate scoring a total of 3 world championship points to Bourdais’s 2 points. However, it is in qualifying that Bourdais has really struggled with his inexperienced teammate starting higher up the grid no less than 7 times of the 9 races.</p>
<p>So would you have sacked Bourdais? Absolutely! As a team owner up against fierce competition and strong commercial pressures striving to get results and repeat any of the success of last year, you would say you have given Bourdais a good chance but it has not worked out. It is a logical decision and the right decision. However, would you have done it now? Is there an advantage into bringing someone new into the team? Or could he just not handle another year of 2 drivers called Sebastien?!</p>
<p>Unless the person being brought in has a lot more experience and potential than Bourdais, then what is the point of bringing in someone new mid-way through the season? Alguersuari is the reserve driver but has only been there a matter of days and is completely new to the team, the car and F1. He will take some time to get up to speed and there is no particular likelihood that he will outperform Buemi’s results. Perhaps Toro Rosso are thinking about 2010 and rather than bring in a rookie then, they can have a driver who has had half a season under his belt and acclimatised to the world of F1. They can also evaluate if he is any good and has potential.</p>
<p>I feel sorry for Bourdais as he must not understand why he has not performed in F1 like he has done at other levels of motor racing and must know his F1 career is now over. Tost was right to sack him, but I think it has not been handled as well as it could be (can it ever be handled well?!) and perhaps giving Bourdais a clearer ultimatum of needing to get results by a certain race, say the Belgium Grand Prix, would have been more productive and fairer as this would still give 5 races to anyone new coming in.</p>

<p>Having taken years of trying to find a route into F1, Sebastien Bourdais has been shown the door after less than two seasons with Toro Rosso.</p>
<p>The multiple Champ Car king is clearly a man of talent as his record in the USA shows, but the Frenchman never really settled in Formula One and was overshadowed somewhat by team-mate Sebastian Vettel last season.</p>
<p>With a year of experience under his belt, Bourdais was meant to lead the way for Red Bull&#8217;s &#8216;B&#8217; team this season but the results haven&#8217;t come &#8211; and now Bourdais has paid the price&#8230;<!--more--></p>
<p>“In Sebastien&#8217;s second year with us, the partnership has not met our expectations,” team principal Franz Tost insisted. “Therefore, we have decided to replace him as of the next round of the world championship, the Hungarian Grand Prix.”</p>
<p>Bourdais himself clearly isn&#8217;t amused with the decision and has asked his lawyers to look into it &#8211; with the threat of legal action to follow.</p>
<p>That could well overshadow Jaime Alguersuari&#8217;s move into F1 &#8211; a move which would make him the youngest driver in the history of the sport. That move should be rubberstamped soon with the Spaniard debuting alongside Sebastien Buemi in Hungary.</p>
<p>Alguersuari showed his talents en-route to the British F3 crown last year, but it&#8217;s a big move into F1 to go up against the likes of Button, Hamilton, Vettel, Massa et al. If the team keeps expectations in check, then Alguersuari stands a chance &#8211; but if they expect results straight away, the pressure will be firmly on&#8230;</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>A Scuderia Toro Rosso (STR) comunicou hoje (16) o desligamento do piloto francês Sebastien Bourdais. A equipe informa que ele não alcançou as expectativas depositadas nele nesta temporada, cujo ano cheio de surpresas foi o comprovante, para a STR, que o francês não tem condições de guiar seus monopostos.</p>
<p><!--more-->A confirmação do substituto de Bourdais será feita na próxima segunda-feira (20). Ao que tudo indica, o lugar ficará com Jaume Alguersuari, piloto catalão de apenas 19 anos. Com isso, a STR também pode anunciar uma parceria com a petrolífera espanhola Repsol, que já patrocina Alguersuari na World Series.</p>
<p>No entanto, ainda se trata de especulação.</p>

<p>Enfim, uma demissão foi concretizada essa semana. Bourdais já estava na corda bamba desde o final do ano passado, que foi o ano de sua estréia. Foi campeão da Fórmula 3000 em 2002 e foi tetra campeão na falecida Champ-Car (foi tarde, diga-se de passagem), de 2004 até 2007. Quando estreiou na F1 marcou pontos, chegando em sétimo no GP da Austrália do ano passado. Parecia que teria futuro na F1, mas depois, com o andar da carruagem, foi batido pelos seus doi companheiros de equipe, Vettel e Buemi.</p>
<p>Ele, eu, você e até o Galvão Bueno sabia que ele iria ser mandado embora por causa do baixo rendimento neste ano. Nunca conseguiu ter um carro que agradasse seu modo de pilotar. Daqui para frente Bourdais deve correr em outras categorias nos EUA ou na Europa. Ele participa constantemente de provas de Endurance.</p>

Este es el caso en el triángulo formado entre la escudería <strong>Toro Rosso</strong>, <strong>Bourdais </strong>y <strong>Alguersuari</strong>. Toro Rosso ha comunicado que Bourdais ya no es su piloto, por lo que ya no correrá el próximo <strong>Gran Premio de Hungría</strong> que se celebrará el día 25 de julio. Cada vez parece que está más cerca el momento en el que Jaime Alguersuari, español nacido en Cataluña, pase a ocupar esta plaza vacante.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">De ser así, Alguersuari se convertiría en el pilot más joven en debutar en la Fórmula 1, con tan sólo <strong>19 años</strong>. El piloto español se encuentra hoy en el circuito italiano de Vairano para acumular kilómetros con el <strong>STR4</strong> mientras realiza test aerodinámicos en recta.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Para que os hagáis una idea de la trayectoria del chaval, os voy a proporcionar unos datos que he consultado en su <a title="Jaime Alguersuari" href="http://www.jalguersuari.com" target="_blank">página web</a>. Debutó en el año 1998, y en la temporada 2003-2004 ya era campeón de España de Karting. En 2005, con 15 años, entra en el Red Bull Junior Team, con un contrato de 5 años de duración. En 2006 ya realiza test de Fórmula 1 con Red Bull Racing. En 2009 ha disputado 9 carreras de la Formula Renault 3.5 Series, en las que ha obtenido 30 puntos.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Parece que el futuro de este piloto va a ser brillante. Ojalá pueda darnos tantas o más alegrías que el asturiano <strong>Fernando Alonso</strong> en su época más gloriosa. Se espera que la escudería del &#8216;toro rojo&#8217; haga pública en las próximas horas la información sobre quién será el nuevo piloto que ocupe la vacante de Bourdais, aunque todo indica que todas las cartas están ya sobre la mesa.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">El futuro español de la Fórmula 1 es muy prometedor. Si los rumores son ciertos, podríamos tener hasta 4 pilotos de nuestro país en la competición. Recordad que se decía que una de las nuevas escuderías para la próxima temporada, <strong>Campos Meta Team</strong>, tenía la intención de fichar a <strong>Pedro Martínez de la Rosa</strong> y a<strong> Marc Gené</strong>.</p>
