Así como a PocoMundo le preguntan de motos en los descansos entre clases, a mi me preguntan de teléfonos en los corredores del hospital. No falta el que de piso a piso me grite “oiga HERMES, iPhone o Blackberry? JODER.

Mi respuesta es la misma.  –(…) depende para que lo quiera. Yo tengo los dos.

Este tema de los teléfonos inteligentes o “smartphones” hasta ahora estan entrando en el “gremio” medico.  Increíble que no se den cuenta de la importancia de tener un buen teléfono.  Pero bueno.

Me acuerdo que en mis épocas de residente de medicina interna (no hace mucho, 10 años no mas) era el UNICO que tenia una Palm Pilot en el hospital.  Ahí llevaba el registro de todos mis pacientes, cosa que le molestaba a la mayoria de  médicos especialistas porque sabia mas que ellos.  Tenia toda la información.  Pero bueno.

Si el Dr. Fajardo dejo su “beeper” que era su instrumento de comunicación entre colegas y pacientes,  todo puede ser posible. (Si quiere ver la foto del beeper del Dr. Fajardo, haga click aca).  Hoy R.F tiene dos blacberry’s ultimo modelo.  Si dos.  No se para que,  pero por lo menos cambio.

Con el fin que me dejen de preguntar en los corredores voy hacer un resumen de lo que tienen que mirar antes de escoger un teléfono celular.

Primero que todo en telefonía móvil existen cinco (5) seis (6) sistemas operativos que yo sepa:  Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry, Palm OS, Pocket PC y el iPhone.

Cada uno tiene sus ventajas y desventajas.  ¿Cual es mejor? Ojala supiera. En realidad el telefono y el sistema operativo que escoja deben acomodarse a sus necesidades: comunicación, navegación, trasferencia de datos, WiFi, tamaño de la pantalla, teclado, voz, juegos, disponibilidad de aplicaciones medicas, memoria, video, audio, etc.  Igual una vez escoja uno al mes saldrá uno mejor o se dará cuenta que yo ya lo tengo.  Lo que les puedo decir es que como en todo en la vida se necesita una curva de aprendizaje para usarlo mejor.

Estimados “colegas”, los teléfonos inteligentes son una herramienta que permiten que las personas sean mas eficientes, incluso “ustedes”.   Lo que si no pueden esperar como hacen algunos es a que salga el “ideal”.  Sugiero que acepten, adopten y adapten la tecnología móvil alo que usted necesita.

No se les olvide que estos aparatos requieren de un plan de datos, que según entiendo dependiendo del fabricante y del sistema operativo son diferentes así como serán diferentes las tarifas de las empresas que pertenecen al “oligopolio” de la telefonía celular. Independiente del plan que escoja ASEGURESE que sea ILIMITADO para la trasmision de datos.  NO cambie la SIM de una blackberry a un iPhone puede tener la sorpresa del Dr. F.H con una cuenta de mas de 7 Millones de pesos.  Segun informacion que me dio el proveedor los datos van por “carriles diferentes” (cosa que me parece estupida) por lo tanto se cobran de forma diferente.  No se les olvide que somos REHENES del oligopolio.  Despues no digan que nos les avise.

Como se que en vez de ayudarles los confundí mas, (confúndelos y reinaras dice Andrés López en su monologo).  Mi selección es el de la foto. El bPhone, que tiene la “belleza” del iPhone y el poder de la blackberry.  Por eso ando con los dos.  Saquen sus propias conclusiones.

P.S1: No podía dejar de mencionar el excelente concierto al que fui ayer, KEANE.  Realmente impresionante. Mi comentario va a la pobre asistencia además del deterioro evidente del sitio donde fue organizado.  Este país no esta preparado ni cultural ni tiene la infraestructura para este nivel de conciertos.  Estamos preparados para conciertos de toda la familia Fernández (Vicente, Alejandro, Pedrito) y sus amigos como el Charrito negro, etc.

Now we have the Bphone or BillionPeoplePhone to help humanity converse in peace. Simple third world communication good enough for the first world. It’s not Apple’s Iphone but it solves real problems of humanity….and it doesn’t compete with the oligarchs so that Steve Jobs doesn’t lose any sleep over it. Pretty darn cool eh?

 We need revolutionary measures to address our planet’s imbalances and cure it’s ills. Radical measures for radical times. ‘Bphone’ is that and the pre-election Disarmament in Sudan initiative is all about how we leverage technology for peace.

 Led by Pano Kroko as an Open Peace program, the BillionPeoplePhone has started the process to exchange guns for mobile phones in the Southern Sudan. A good way of trading hopes to reduce the violence and allow fair elections to take place by the end of 2009.

GUNS 4 FONES exchanges in Sudan and elsewhere…. maybe next in Zimbabwe or the Kongo …

Apple just put the new I-Phone on the market and it was celebrated today as the most dynamic new product launch in the UK this year. There were the usual ‘need to get a life’ people waiting outside of the London store as well as elsewhere to get their hands on this hot eye candy of an Apple consumer product.

A slew of useful Apps are embedded in the I-phone but they are the usual suspects and nothing radically new for us. The glaring lapse of Apple is to include any social enterprise tools or any environmental or fair trade or green Apps embedded. Why? Where is the radical innovation here?

 A couple of months ago in San Fran, I proposed to Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO a very useful Social Exchange Application for Goodwill giving through the I-phone. he listened attentively and pronounced it a great idea.

He delegated the process, but after his initial entusiasm, he passed it on to his trusted lieutenants who let this project die off. This was due to their obvious lack of interest in anything that doesn’t have a direct line of sight to profitability. Next quarter thinking has invaded Apple. the economic downturn makes Social Enterprise and Corporate Responsibility to take a way back … seat on the Apple’s innovation agenda.

Is this the Leadership we expect from Steve the most charismatic of the Tech world’s CEO?

Or is his leadership tarnished by his lieutenants not carrying through?

Either way the road is slippery. When the economy is in the dolldrums it is when we need to exhibit fearless leadership and to be vigilant and forward thinking with innovation. It is not when we are coasting along at 90 mph on a free highway. Storm weather captains we need with large compassion in their hearts for those others in times of Crisis. A Social Exchange will support those people in need through giving and supporting the organizations NGOs, and NPOs who work and advocate on their behalf everyday in the field.

That’s what we do with compassion and that’s where real Leadership’s mantle rests.

Apple failed Social innovation this year, but there is always the future. But that is not the way Apple became the undisputed leader in coolness and tech design. They seiged the future first and took giant risks in the past but somehow now they have become risk averse or perhaps a little weak kneed.

Yet this is the future and it won’t wait for Steve’s boys to get their act together or brace their knees for the green gardening neccessary to blossom the Social Innovation field.

Arguably the Old Merry UK is pages ahead of the US on Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship but it’s well behind the magnetic shores on strict technology entrepreneurship, business development and tech Innovation. yet now they try to catch up mightily.

 That is why we launch our new Tech and Social Entrepreneurship Innovations in the UK and not in the US. Now we go ahead and built the Social Exchange as an independent App and we will get support from NESTA , UK’s Technology Innovation, entrepreneurship, social support arm. But the most gigantic innovation of mine and Satori Social ventures is the BillionPeoplePhone which we call ‘Bphone’ and will launch also in the UK this Fall season.

London is a great place for Social Tech innovation even with the slow on the uptake Gordon Brown hagis fed, highlands free range goverment. I like living here and have many friends who find it stifling politically and the nanny state can be an Orwellian Nightmare. Imagine driving from plymouth to london and getting something as 8 different speeding tickets from various cameras along the way. I had an expensive cheap thrills ride. The icing on that particular cake was the cumulative ticket that the camera enhanced Met traffic police issued me on the end of the trip by calculating the distance covered and the time it took me to arrive from the first camera clocking me to the last one in Belgravia. The horrors of technology and the snooping state. Now for speed driving we also have to go free range in the Scottish highlands. Anyways, Times change and London is still a super cool place to develop technology and social innovation.

After all….It is no accident that both Adam Smith and Karl Marx sharpened their teeth here and are still neighbors in a local cemetary.

Les quiero mostrar mi nueva adquisición, que a la hora que escribo esta entrada acaba de cumplir 24 horas en mis manos.

Ayer caminaba cuicamente por el Alto Las Condes, cuando de pronto me baja el consumismo que llevo fuertemente dentro de mi. En realidad, iba al mall con la disposición de ver si me podía comprar el Nokia 5610, pero dando unos cuantos pasos mientras pensaba antes de llegar al stand Movistar, cambié la idea y pregunté por el Blackberry 8100. Luego de las mil y una maravillas que me conto el chico simpático que me atendió, le di el vamos a la compra. Escogí el plan, algo carozzi ($15.000) pero vale la pena para un pendejo como yo, y partí a mi dulce hogar.

Llegando comencé a sapear instalar algunas aplicaciones, como por ejemplo GTalk, Facebook, TwitterBerry, etc… cambiando también el tema que traía e instalando uno que simula al IPhone, creativamente llamado BPhone.

Para los que estén pensando en cambiar el celular, o comprar un BlackBerry, les recomiendo éste, por precio y por utilidad. En resumen, si les interesa comprarlo, apúrense, es una oferta por pocos días.

PD.: a todo esto el equipo viene con una memoria de 128, la cual la cambié por una de 256 (que es la que tenía mi teléfono Nokia 5200)

I stumbled across this excellent iPhone theme for Blackberry and, best of all it isfree! Therefore, I thought I’d share it with others who like the look of the iPhone but need the business practicality of the RIM devices. Being the happy little guinea pig that I am, have loaded it onto my Blackberry Curve 8310 and also tried and tested it on the Blackberry Pearl 8100 – it works perfectly on both.  No drama, not issues just a new theme that looks like the Apple iPhone desktop.

So I am liking my new (refurb) Blackberry Curve more and more.  And to get at my daughters who both have iPhones, I loaded the bPhone theme from RogersMJ.com and now my Blackberry has an iPhone theme.

It looks cool, icon are easy to read, and it works really well.  Most of all, it was FREE!  With many sites charging $5 to $8 dollars for similar themes or even the same theme!!!

I searched for a good looking vista theme and there were some that caught my eye but there wasn’t just one theme that had EVERYTHING in it that I was looking for in a vista theme. I like this theme a lot, because it is very clean and neat and vibrant. As of right now that is the only background that really works with theme. I will eventually rework some of it to support any background but as of right now I like it.

I have revamped my iPhone theme and relayed it out and it looks 100 times better! I’ve shown it to a couple of people around my office and the absolutely love it. I think it looks fantastic and I think it’s one of my best works yet.

If you like it or think something doesn’t look right and needs to be fixed let me know. All critiques and comments are welcomed.

America loves Beyonce. This is a stone-cold fact — a bewildering fact, but a fact nonetheless. And Sprint’s faith in the country’s love for Beyonce and anything associated with the R&B singer and Dreamgirls star became evident last week when the ‘B Phone’ by Samsung was unveiled.

Available November 4th at a Sprint store or a Wal-Mart near you, this special edition Upstage phone features a dual-face handset, includes a digital power amp that significantly improves sound quality, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and speedy PC syncing software.

Naturally, the ‘B Phone’ is loaded with Beyonce-related material and will allow owners to download content such as an “exclusive” Beyonce photo gallery and a song she sang when she was 10-years old (sure, why not?) directly from Sprint.com.

While we can’t imagine owning the burgundy and gold-colored device ourselves, we imagine teenage girls everywhere will find the ‘B Phone’ irresistible.

Los Angeles (E! Online) – She might be a tad indecent for Malaysian tastes, but Beyoncé Knowles is not too bootylicious for China. The singer will be taking her tour to Shanghai Nov. 3, per an announcement on her Website.

This news comes just weeks after she scrapped a Nov. 1 show in the Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur, in the wake of local protests over her skimpy costumes, suggestive choreography and sexy songs.

Knowles’ camp refused to blame potential censorship for the cancellation, instead citing a “scheduling conflict”—which is hard to fathom, considering she booked the tour months ago.

Apparently the “Crazy in Love” songbird had no conflicts with Oct. 30, since she quickly replaced the Kuala Lumpur gig with a concert for that day in Jakarta. Indonesia just happens to be a bit more lenient venue when it comes to salacious stage antics.

It remains to be seen if the 26-year-old entertainer will encounter any censorship issues in China, another country that is notoriously prickly about “vulgar” Western behavior. Boyfriend Jay-Z had a Shanghai concert nixed for that specific reason, and the Rolling Stones were asked to avoid singing some of their racier tunes during their last tour.

But for now, Knowles is all set to perform on Shanghai’s Grand Stage as part of the Beyoncé Experience, which will also hit Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Cluj, Romania; Istanbul, Turkey; Mumbai, India; Bangkok, Thailand; and Macau, which is controlled by China.

For those who can’t make the cross-continental trek, the Beyoncé Experience—Live at the Staples Center DVD is due out Nov. 20, featuring 23 songs and guest performances from Jay-Z and her Destiny’s Child cohorts.

And for fans who want to travel with Knowles, you’re in luck. She is collaborating with Samsung to launch a new cell phone model, B’Phone, which will hit the U.S. market next month.

Th R&B superstar hasn’t so much invented it as designed it really. Samsung seem to be doing tie-ins with everyone they can get their hands on and it appears bouncy’s made herself available for a quick squeeze.

The ‘B’Phone’ features a Beyonce themed start-up screen and the ability to download exclusive Beyonce photos and videos. It will also come with a song she recorded as a child which when you hear her tell the story is incredibly heartwarming: “When I was 10, I recorded a song called 632-5792 — a phone number. It’s a little embarrassing but it’s cute. There’s a recording of that song on the phone exclusively for my fans”.

“It’s only through this phone that you can get this close to my life.”

Beyoncé tornata al suo colore “naturale” era ieri al Samsung Store di New York a presentare il B-Phone, come al solito la diva dimostra un grande fiuto per gli affari, incluso nel cofanetto un CD! Il telefono è “griffato” con la “B” di Beyoncé, un vero feticcio per i fans della star texana!

Beyoncé staat erom bekend niet vies te zijn van technische snufjes en gadgets, en die liefde heeft ze nu naar een volledig nieuw level gebracht. Gisteren lanceerde de zangeres in samenwerking met Samsung de B’Phone in New York. Wie de telefoon koopt krijgt er meteen enkele leuke extraatjes bij, zoals een tienjarige Beyoncé die een serenade voor je zingt. Daarnaast zou het toestel de ultieme muziekgsm zijn, en ging de aandacht bij de lancering vooral naar de fantastische geluidskwaliteit die uit het kleine ding komt. Een beetje zoals bij Beyoncé zelf, dus.
Het is nog niet duidelijk of en wanneer de B’Phone ook bij ons verkrijgbaar zal zijn, maar na de break kun je alvast de commercial bekijken.
