Employees at a BPO in Mangalore. India’s IT-BPO market is expected to touch $285 billion in 2020 from $71 billion in 2009, a study has said.

India’s IT-BPO market (including exports) could touch $285 billion in 2020 growing at a CAGR of 15 per cent, according to a report.

The IT-BPO industry in India has achieved impressive growth rates over the past decade and stood at $71.6 billion in 2009, said the report prepared by KPMG and ASOCIO (Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation).

The report, ‘Asia-Oceania Vision 2020: Enabling IT leadership through collaboration’ was released here at NASSCOM India Leadership Forum 2010. India is the current market leader in global sourcing supply, serving about 51 per cent of overall global sourcing demand.

“India is expected to achieve a double-digit growth in the IT-BPO industry, with a focus on innovation. The country, however, needs to sustain cost competitiveness and develop the requisite skills of its large workforce,” Kumar Parakala, Global Head of Sourcing Advisory, KPMG in India, said.

“India could also develop complementary skills in hardware, so that it can showcase a more diversified portfolio of products and services,” the report said.

The report highlighted that the composition of demand will undergo a change from 2008 to 2020. The contribution of some of the developed countries like Japan, Australia and New Zealand in the regional demand for IT-BPO service is likely to decrease.

However, the contribution of developing countries like India and Thailand is expected to increase in the coming years. Countries such as Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh are also expected to make their mark on the global sourcing supply landscape by 2020, it said.

One of the focus areas of the KPMG-ASOCIO report was to identify the potential for effective collaboration among countries of the Asia-Oceania region.

The report emphasises that if diversity within the region is effectively leveraged it could lead to collaborative growth.

At present, there are approximately 117 nations that permit or require International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for domestic listed companies, including listed companies in the European Union. Other countries, including Canada and India, are expected to transition to IFRS by 2011. Mexico plans to adopt IFRS for all listed companies starting in 2012. Some estimate that the number of countries requiring or accepting IFRS could grow to 150 in the next few years. Japan has introduced a roadmap for adoption that it will decide on in 2012 (with adoption planned for 2016). Still other countries have plans to converge (eliminate significant differences) with their national standards with IFRS. Having said this, it is becoming evident that the IFRS is rapidly gaining dominance as the global standard in the preparation of public company financial statements.>>>Read More>>>

broker price opinionThe current economic climate is putting a real hurting on us real estate agents.

broker price opinion
The current economic climate is putting a real hurting on us real estate agents. Listed property is sitting. Buyers aren’t pulling the trigger. Business expenses haven’t gone away.
There are 3 money sources agents are entertaining. Option one is the bpo.
A BPO can make you forty to one hundred dollars a pop. Best case is 5 jobs a week. That equals annual of $10K pre-costs.
The hook is the hope that you’ll also get reo listings. Don’t count on it. The banks don’t work directly with you.
Judgment recovery is the 2nd most popular pick these days. Not hard to understand why. There are similarities to realtor work. You find opportunity and make a deal. You have to find people and give judgments a value. Your courthouse is a source of opportunity. Call this what you will but you’re a glorified debt collector.
Newest and top pick – recovering excess proceeds. Here you identify excess proceeds from foreclosure auctions.
Foreclosed property sell for more than the bank is owed. Excess proceeds from the sale doesn’t go to the mort company.
The county clerk is sent all the foreclosure proceeds.
Then the court is to give the monies to all who have a claim to it. Folks like judgment holders are due compensation. Past owners may even be entitled to monies.
Foreclosure overage has a distinct advantage over recovering judgments. With surplus funds, you deal with people over money already collected.
Give this real thought.
Make huge paydays quickly with excess proceeds!.
Follow the link:

“Iloilo City has been identified as having great potentials for BPO (business process outsourcing) i

“Iloilo City has been identified as having great potentials for BPO (business process outsourcing) investments because of its ICT (Information and Communication Technology) academy,” said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during her “cyber corridor” tour here February 3.

The Chief Executive observed an English proficiency class of 20 students and a computer class for potential call center workers at the Ronald Raymond Lacson Sebastian ICT Academy of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) in Molo district.

Arroyo noted that JBLFMU offers TESDA (Technical Education Skills and Development Authority)-registered courses and able to produce 400 Pangulong Gloria Scholars who are aspiring call center agents. To date, 252 of these scholars are employed in BPO firms.

The President also cited JBLFMU’s high score which is 10 times more than the national hiring rate of six percent.

For seven years now, the JBLMFU has been offering TESDA-registered courses such as two-year programming NC IV, call center course, finishing course for call center agents NC II and medical transcription.

Likewise, it offers short-term proficiency courses like word processing, spreadsheet application, presentation package and adobe photoshop.

Arroyo expects that JBLFMU will soon offer visual graphics design and technical drafting courses.

“While we are a maritime university we have been producing highly competent ICT professionals,” said Dr. Marylou Lacson Arcelo, chair of JBLMFU Board of Trustees.

JBLMFU is the first maritime university in Southeast Asia.

Iloilo City is the most preferred “next wave city” following Manila and Cebu and outside of Luzon as recognized by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP). As regional educational center, the city produces close to 20,000 graduates annually, thus a big pool of skilled manpower attracting prospective investors. The city now hosts a dozen BPOs employing some 5,000 workers.

The Cyber Region is “designed to spread developments away from an inequitable concentration in Metro Manila.”

“The cyber corridor is identified by the private sector, academe and government in finding the strongest, actual and potential locations for ICT investments like call centers, software development, medical transcription, engineering design, animation and games development,” Arroyo said.

The President also encouraged the establishment of broadband services in cities and identified growth areas; created the Commission on ICT, which is guided by the market with minimal government interference; and invested in technical education and skills development by providing schools with computers and Internet connection.

Developing the BPO sector, the government has invested in strategic digital infrastructure, formulated the appropriate policy, created the legal environment, and developed human capital through technical, vocational, and skills training scholarships.

Now touted as a global powerhouse, the Philippines BPO sector has created half million jobs and generated from a mere $24 million in 2001 to $7billion in 2009, while catching up with that of the world’s leader India’s $9 billion.

BPO or ‘Business Process Outsourcing’ refers to management of the core and non-core business tasks a

BPO or ‘Business Process Outsourcing’ refers to management of the core and non-core business tasks and processes of big and small companies through a business process outsourcing service. The parent company leverages on the technical expertise provided by business service providers in various developing countries by achieving cost reductions and enhancements in the quality of their services. Business process outsourcing services assume responsibility of fulfillment of a job or several tasks and play a crucial role in the management of business processes. Common business process outsourcing industry services include but are not limited to:

Call centers

Medical Transcriptions

Research writing

Catalog data entry

Data entry services

Other forms of Business Process outsourcing services include:

Catalog processing services

E-commerce data entry

Product library management

Online product entry

Catalog process

While many or all of the above tasks are essential for the successful functioning of a company, they can be successfully performed remotely without affecting the productivity of the business. Moreover, essential business functions are enhanced by the quality of BPO services. Most importantly, companies enjoy several financial benefits by outsourcing their various company processes to BPO services.

For instance, ‘Data Entry Services’ refers to services offered for the conversion of professional business data into meaningful presentations which can be easily understood. Data processing is an important aspect for business organizations which need to save or convert data for future use. Data entry services are simple and easy to understand and do not require high level of expertise or qualification to perform the entry of data. Data entry services can be provided by individuals with minimal qualifications as it simple requires copying and entering data into the required format. Obviously, outsourcing companies are at an advantage and gain several benefits by outsourcing their data entry services or other job functions. Some of these are:

Reduction of cost

Expertise at highly competitive rates

Reduction of day-today company functions which require expensive human resources

By and large, the major outsourcing business process outsourcing service providers are the developed nations like the US and UK while major BPO service providers include the developing nations like India, Philippines, Malaysia and China. With a largely educated populace and English as a second language, workforce from these countries work for reduced salary providing greater financial leverage both, the BPO services seeker as well as the BPO service provider. Moreover, fluency of English enables individuals from these nations to work with minimal accent and technical training, required to cater to the multinational organizations.

Thus, Business process outsourcing is a win-win situation for both parties involved. The BPO industry is thriving globally as companies seek reduced labor costs for high quality services. Companies seeking BPO services can effectively utilize existing resources for developmental activities and are able to increase profitability due to massive reductions in their operational costs without compromising the quality of services. Low operating costs and better quality of work make it possible for them to hire additional labor than they conventionally would. Likewise, BPO service providers have tremendous scope and gain steady business with decent payrolls. Generation of jobs directly results in the financial enhancement of regions and countries.

Considering the current business scenario, it is quite evident that micro BPO companies struggle to

Considering the current business scenario, it is quite evident that micro BPO companies struggle to be on the spotlight. Most often they even fail miserably. All these days, there was no such strategy that could work in favor of the small BPO firms. Herein the search for an appropriate strategy started.

The recent inclusion of the single consolidator strategy stands significant in many ways. For long, the operators have been looking to have resort to some strategies in order to take them out of the messy situation. After doing much of research, the strategy of single consolidator emerged to be the perfect answer to the problems of the small vendors.

Single consolidator is capable of managing the micro BPO vendors in a smart way. It offers an efficient mechanism for implementing the micro-sourcing. Apart from this, single consolidator offers various advantages to the smaller offshore outsourcing service providers such as project matching and dashboard to improve their service levels.

It is the single consolidator strategy that even allows the service vendors to have one-stop procurement channel, which helps them to enhance the efficiency level of their procurement. Single consolidator allows the small or mid-market businesses (SMB) the benefit of Tier-2/Tier-3 pricing from a single control point. This is truly a unique strategy to help the micro BPO in attaining the much needed recognition and the market share.

Foreclosure is one of the most devastating financial challenges that a family can face and one that

Foreclosure is one of the most devastating financial challenges that a family can face and one that many times can be avoided. The options available to residents for foreclosure are many, including but not limited to short sales. Following is a brief explanation of these solutions:

Reinstatement

A reinstatement is the simplest solution for a foreclosure, however it is often the most difficult. The homeowner simply requests the total amount owed to the mortgage company to date and pays it. This solution does not require the lender’s approval and will ‘reinstate’ a mortgage up to the day before the final foreclosure sale.

Forbearance or Repayment Plan

A forbearance or repayment plan involves the homeowner negotiating with the mortgage company to allow them to repay back payments over a period of time. The homeowner typically makes their current mortgage payment in addition to a portion of the back payments they owe.

Mortgage Modification

A mortgage modification involves the reduction of one of the following: the interest rate on the loan, the principal balance of the loan, the term of the loan, or any combination of these. These typically result in a lower payment to the homeowner and a more affordable mortgage.

Rent the Property

A homeowner who has a mortgage payment low enough that market rent will allow it to be paid, can convert their property to a rental and use the rental income to pay the mortgage.

Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure

Also known as a ‘friendly foreclosure,’ a deed in lieu allows the homeowner to return the property to the lender rather than go through the foreclosure process. Lender approval is required for this option, and the homeowner must also vacate the property.

Bankruptcy

Many have considered and marketed bankruptcy as a ‘foreclosure solution,’ but this is only true in some states and situations. If the homeowner has non-mortgage debts that cause a shortfall of paying their mortgage payments and a personal bankruptcy will eliminate these debts, this may be a viable solution.

Refinance

If a homeowner has sufficient equity in their property and their credit is still in good standing, they may be able to refinance their mortgage.

Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (military personnel only)

If a member of the military is experiencing financial distress due to deployment, and that person can show that their debt was entered into prior to deployment, they may qualify for relief under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. The American Bar Association has a network of attorneys that will work with servicemembers in relation to qualifying for this relief.

Sell the Property

Homeowners with sufficient equity can list their property with a qualified agent that understands the foreclosure process in their area.

Short Sale

If a homeowner owes more on their property than it is currently worth, then they can hire a qualified real estate agent to market and sell their property through the negotiation of a short sale with their lender. This typically requires the property to be on the market and the homeowner must have a financial hardship to qualify. Hardship can be simply defined as a material change in the financial stability of the homeowner between the date of the home purchase and the date of the short sale negotiation. Acceptable hardships include but are not limited to: mortgage payment increase, job loss, divorce, excessive debt, forced or unplanned relocation, and more

A short sale can be an excellent solution for homeowners who need to sell, and who owe more on their homes than they are worth. In the past, it was rare for a bank or lender to accept a short sale. Today, however, due to overwhelming market changes, banks and lenders have become much more negotiable when it comes to these transactions. Recent changes in corporate policy and the Obama administration have also improved the chances of getting a short sale approved.

But to be technical, here’s a more official definition:

A homeowner is ’short’ when the amount owed on his/her property is higher than current market value.
A short sale occurs when a negotiation is entered into with the homeowner’s mortgage company (or companies) to accept less than the full balance of the loan at closing. A buyer closes on the property, and the property is then ’sold short’ of the total value of the mortgage.
For homeowners to qualify for a short sale, they must fall into all of the following circumstances:

Financial Hardship – There is a situation causing you to have trouble affording your mortgage.
Monthly Income Shortfall – In other words: “You have more month than money.” A lender will want to see that you cannot afford, or soon will not be able to afford your mortgage.
Insolvency – The lender will want to see that you do not have significant liquid assets that would allow you to pay down your mortgage

Day 33 of the Grammy Chase and today I find something else pretty hip, related to the Grammy’s and Buffalo. Sunday I found an article in the Buffalo News regarding Caroline Goulding, a first-time Grammy Nominated violinist who actually played along with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on the evening of the Grammy’s, Jan. 31. Well today, on Hero’s blog, a really cool, innovative, trendsetting graphic design and print boutique here in Buffalo, they proudly posted Beatles legend Ringo Star wearing a t-shirt that they designed. Ringo wore the tee during the Grammy’s in front of millions of pairs of eyes to their elation. Another degree closer it seems. Congrats Beth and Mark! Click the Hero link above to see and learn more about the t-shirt design.

Outsourcing business is all about efficiency, leveraging great talent pool and differentiating with respect to customer satisfaction, speed, innovation and managed growth. If companies can do this consistently, there is growth and no one can stop job migrations to other companies or countries. Am sure you already know how DELL changed the game in the PC industry. It takes only one company to redefine responsiveness and pricing. Then, the cost conscious customers will come back for renegotiation or transition to your competitor. You may be doing great so far but keep improve your performance to sustain.

The Challenges

More and more countries get into outsourcing business there by increases external competition in addition to tuff competitions inside.

Salary arbitrage is no more a competitive edge. Human beings are all over the place. They watch, learn faster and get ready to compete. You know what happened to manufacturing.

Increasing operational cost, very high salary expectations, difficulties in finding quality human resources within the country and high attrition rate affect the overall business profitability.

Ineffectively managed interactions between the BPO organization and the customer affect quality. Continuously changing information put pressure on the employees to constantly unlearn & learn for flawless operation.

50% of quality related issues are due to lack of easy access to common information and working on outdated information.

Overall, these challenges make life difficult to maintain profitability and sustain growth. So the BPO companies should get ready for the next round.

Changing the Game

Quick response over phone or any other media will keep your customers smile and come back to you for more business. Organize knowledge to deliver right knowledge at the fingertips of agents so that the time they spend on customer interaction can be dramatically reduced. This will give you the confidence to move to output based pricing and make more money through dramatic increase in per employee revenue.

Maintain process knowledge, manage changes, deliver, track and ensure it reaches people on time so that they will never operate on wrong information. At the same time highest level of security is essential to encrypt, store and deliver confidential information. Audit trail is vital to keep track of the entire flow of information and get insight into who sent, what, when and who accessed, when and how many times.

Team huddles and email are very inefficient for disseminating information. Centralized knowledge base driven communication platform is needed to effectively manage internal communication. It helps teams across multiple shifts get consistent view and timely access on organizational knowledge.

Align right talent to the task and provide the knowledge on how to perform better. There are many first-time managers with less than four years of experience and hence it is critical to empower them with scientific and systematic management approaches to manage talent, activities and monitor the progress.

To reduce the cost and increase the speed of response, a common support knowledge base must be provided to people across locations. Expanding to Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities cannot be stopped and hence it is important to have an intelligently connected workplace.

Looking at the growth of companies, it is impossible to deliver learning through traditional training model. Innovative and scalable learning platform can facilitate competency management through personalized and continuous learning. Maintain a library of good and bad customer responses to train the employees. Sometimes, people make mistakes unconsciously.
