that I would be taking a couple days off, I meant the days that I already had taken. Now, I’ve

that I would be taking a couple days off, I meant the days that I already had taken. Now, I’ve taken even more time off from updating my blog it’s been driving me crazy. I understand that life gets in the way and certain things come first before business but I was ready for tonights update.

I’ve been going through my daughters 1st year scrapbook and taking out and either redoing or updating some of her pages. Here is one that I completely redid with some retired Stampin’ Up! paper called, “A Walk in the Park”, or atleast I think that’s what it is!

The picture wasn’t coming out just right, but you get the jist of it. I’ll be posting a few additional shots below of some close ups.

The journaling that is posted across some of the punched out squares are the months old that my daughter was in the pictures. They start at 2 weeks old and go to 9 months old.

For the flowers that you see, I took our Trio Flower punch (the flowers that are identical, not the three different ones). I punched it twice on three sheets of patterned paper to be able to use 6 flowers on each brad to make a larger flower. To do this all I did was take my 1/16″ punch and punch in the middle of one petal on each flower. Next I took them one by one and stuck them on my brad to give them a layered look. Throw a Stampin’ Dimensional on the back and stuck it on the paper. That simple to create your own flowers that are unique.

The quote that I have in the left hand corner reads, “A daughter is…the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future.” Every since I heard that quote I know I needed to use it on a scrapbook page and I think it fit here well. Although I do think I’m going to type of the wording and cut it out because I’m not a huge fan of my own handwriting!

Well, now that I’ve finally updated after a few days again, I think it’s time for me to head to bed. I’ve slept just about the whole day away and yet I’m still tired. I hope it’s gone (if it’s a bug) by Thanksgiving or I’m going to be one unhappy camper!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and are very much looking forward to this amazingly delicious week ahead!

Today was the first day back for my husband after a month off of work. It was great and frustrating

Today was the first day back for my husband after a month off of work. It was great and frustrating all at the same time. I say it was great due to the fact that I was able to spend the whole day in my craft room and actually get things accomplished, such as getting the 70+ cards cut and bagged for Fridays card Buffet. Now, on the other hand, why it’s frustrating is due to my darling children. They’ve gotten use to having their daddy around and when he’s not here they are wondering where the heck that darling man went.

When trying to explain to a 1 1/2 & 3 1/2 year old that daddy is at work and will be home soon, it goes well some times and not so well others. The first half of the day went smoothly without any interruptions. I couldn’t have asked for a better morning. Then, after nap time they couldn’t listen to save their own little lives. It took great strength and refraining not to scream as loud as I could and put myself in the corner with ear plugs in. Wouldn’t that be nice some days?

Needless to say, as soon as daddy walked through the door they straightened up and acted like I was just a looney bin! Thanks kids!

During their nap time I was able to get a few projects done that weren’t class related. Starting with a Criss-Cross card. I used Holiday Lounge Designer Series paper, well my scraps I should say, along with Whisper White card stock as the base for the card.

This was the first time I’ve ever tried making one of these criss-cross cards and it went fairly well. I did change the measurements of it to get a better fit.

For the insert of the card, I used Brushed Silver for a tab at the top for easy pull out.

Christmas Punch and Tree Trimmings stamp sets were used on this card. Both were stamped in Old Olive.

Next would be the scrapbook page that I just cased out of our last Stampin’ Up! magazine that was too cute not to. I’ve made some changes to it that I liked better but left it essentially the same.

Isn’t this just a perfect 12×12 layout?

Where the 5×7 piece of Basic Gray cardstock is, will actually be a 5×7 photo not the paper. I didn’t have any 5×7’s at the moment that fit this page as I would want them to.

I bought the set Perfect Chemistry and was never quite sure what to do with it or what I could to with it. I just loved it and had never used it! Sounds like half of the stuff that I own.

When I saw this scrapbook page featured in the magazine I knew I had to make it! I did boo-boo in a little bit the corner where the stamps are. I’m trying to not let my OCD kick in and fix it! We’ll see how well that one lasts.

This was also my first time using my Lattice Die. I’m going to try my hand at some more creations with tonight and hope I can come up with something truly beautiful. Maybe even another scrapbook layout.

I hope everyones week is off to a great start and continues to go that way

I don’t know exactly why it reminded me of those times but that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture so I went with it! Maybe it was the big shell in the bottom corner, or the gorgeous bedroom linen that is so coasty, or maybe it was that I could see the water through the bedroom window that sealed the deal, but I loved making this card for the man I have loved since I was 15!!!! So Happy Birthday Honey, I love you to the moon and back and twice around the stars.

Everything that I have used is Stampin’ Up product.
I love shaped cards, but I don’t have a cricut to cut one out for me. Tracing around chipboar

I love shaped cards, but I don’t have a cricut to cut one out for me. Tracing around chipboard shapes you can make your own.

Supplies:

Coordinating cardstock and patterned papers

Larger type chipboard shape (I used a car from a Maya Road chipboard book)

Scissors

Adhesive

Pop-dots/3D foam

Ink

sand paper

brads

alpha stickers (I used the Pink Paislee Fashion Script alphas)

stapler with staples

ribbon (I used the celadon grosgrain )

Glimmer Mist (optional)

circle punch

craft knife/xacto knife

pencil

Step One: Creating your card base

Choose your chipboard shape. I picked out a car shape that is about the size of my hand. When choosing a shape to use, take into account where it will be folded in the creation of your card to decide if your shape will leave enough space for stability.

I am using a double sided thicker type of patterned paper. On the plain side of the paper, trace around your chipboard shape. Then flip your chipboard shape, line it up, and trace it again slightly overlapping over the top.

Cut it out and fold in half.

You may notice you didn’t cut or line up the two shapes exactly perfectly. I know I didn’t! Pick which side ends up not showing overlaps of the paper from below and make that be the your front side of the card. You can use inking and sanding to hide these little flaws and add a cool technique to your card at the same time.

Step Two: Adding a layer to your card front

With a coordinating patterned paper, flip it over and trace your car chipboard shape once again. This layer needs to be slightly smaller than your car shape card base. If you don’t have a smaller chipboard shape of the exact same shape, as I didn’t, shift around your chipboard shape inside the bigger outline. You may have to freehand some connecting lines or curves. When done, cut this out.

The inner shape probably isn’t as exact as it could be, but again, we will hide our flaws with inking and sanding. It’s fun to add a bit of texture to your card too by crumpling and un-crumpling your inner car shaped layer.

Now you have two pieces. Place your inner car layer on top of the other layer. The inner car layer is rounded where in the same spot on the card base it is flat to be the folded part. So trace where this fold is at on the inner car base and snip it off.

Align inner smaller layer and adhere to card base.

Step Three: Adding a sentiment

My card isn’t very large, so I chose a small sentiment, just the word “hi.” You could use a smaller type stamp if you would prefer.

Punch (or trace and hand cut) a one inch circle from coordinating patterned paper. Ink edges. Apply alpha stickers off-centered on to the circle.

Overlap and bunch up your ribbon and staple so it stays in place. Snip ribbon. I like to do it at an angle just for a fun touch.

Apply adhesive to the bottom half of the circle and slip into the ribbon folds enough to where the alpha letters aren’t covered. Apply two pop-dots/3D foam bits to the upper back half of the circle and adhere to your card top.

Pictured above is what we got done so far.

Step Four: Embellishing the card

I don’t like the staple lines showing through on the ribbon. I will hide the staples and add some decoration to the card at the same time by applying brads. Adding the brads will also help keep your ribbon in place and hold it to the card. Using a craft knife will help you get your brad through the multiple layers.

This part is optional. Add some sheen and shimmer to your card using glimmer mist. I used the marshmallow white color, so I could really go crazy spraying away since it is so sheer! If you are using a colored glimmer mist, be careful though, you don’t want to ruin your card. You may want to test on a separate scrap of the papers you used in making your card to see how much you should spray to get the look you want to achieve. Also be sure to spray your glimmer mist in a covered area as not to accidentally ruin your desk area or random papers you may have laying near your work area. I used the top of an old box.

Give it plenty of time to dry. If you sprayed too much and got shimmer globs, you can gently press down a paper towel to remove excess. Be careful as not to smear or remove too much though.

All done! A cute shaped card ready to send out to a friend!

Snapping back from the digital crafting world and walking away from My Digital Studio was hard but I

Snapping back from the digital crafting world and walking away from My Digital Studio was hard but I needed to get some true paper crafting done.

After thinking for awhile on what I wanted to do, I’ve been in the holiday spirit so I decided to make some holiday gift bows using Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper along with Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper

I will be making this into a class next month for my ladies here in Alaska. Here are a few more shots of the different types I did

Holiday Lounge and Christmas Cocoa DSP worked perfectly for these. I’ll be making some different seasoned ones tonight just to show that these bows can be used in different settings with different seasons.

Next I tried something a little different. Instead of sticking to the 4/4/4/1 design I tried 5/4/1 to make them a little smaller and to see what I thought about it. They still look good but I think I like the larger bows. I will be fooling around with the design some more as well with the other bows tonight once again to see what I can come up with.

Here are the smaller version I was talking about

That’s all the crafting that I’ve got accomplished tonight. Depending on if this headache clears will be whether I do sit down and make more of these tonight or whether I put it off until tomorrow morning.

Oh! I almost forgot with my scraps from making my strips to put these together I made a Quilted card using our Top Note die! What do you think? Not as good as using our square punches to assemble the pieces but what can you do? I was using up my scraps which is the key point

On a non-Stampin’ Up! related note. I wanted to give a “shout out” to my sister Rachael.

What a great deal this week! Oh, and Boy Howdy, am I glad to be home. When we moved to Maui almost 20 years ago I quickly realized this was where I was meant to be. I am a tropical flower with a temperature comfort zone of about 6 degrees – 77 to 83. The fall colors are gorgeous, but you sure have to wear a lot of stuff to get out and see them.

Well Keesh has given us some beautiful colours to play with again for this weeks challenge, Inkspirations Colour Challenge #14 …Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray, Basic Black and Whisper White. I love this delicious colour combination, it says romance to me. So to play I chose to go with the Cherish stamp from Illuminations and the Polka Dot background stamp, 3 flowers with black vintage brad centres and black ribbon. All the dots and the Cherish tag have been clear embossed and mounted on the Pretty in Pink base card that has been stamped with the En Francais background stamp on the top and with the dotty stamp from Big Bold Birthday set on the bottom in Pretty in Pink ink just to add a little more softness. All products used on my card are from Stampin’Up. It may have taken me a while to put this one together but I am really happy with how it has turned out. If you pop over to Keesh’s site you will be inspired with all the great entries already there. They are gorgeous. Thanks Keesh for another wonderful challenge. Hope you all have a great week!

So you’re starting to think Christmas cards? Me too. Last year I made 65. It was a long hard slog and I started in November. Not bad organisation for me but this year I have vowed to get it done earlier. I have made a good start on the gifts as well!

Well, when you think of a Christmas card you must first work out how many. That will probably determine how technical you make them. Making them like a production line is the quickest way I’ve found.

Here are three cards I have come up with for workshops and fairs recently. They have varying degrees of difficulty but are all very nice.

Firstly, using a lovely new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called Snow Swirled I came up with two cards.

The first is using Baja Breeze cardstock on Whisper White with some Baja Breeze Designer Paper. The snowflakes are randomly stamped in Craft White, Baja Breeze and Always Artichoke Inks. The Designer Paper is punched with the scallop edge punch and a strip of Artichoke cardstock hides the join.

A loop of Baja Breeze double stiched ribbon creates a tab that overhangs the edge of the card and draws your attention to the lovely sentiment.

This is a ten minute card at the most. Simple but effective.

Next I made this card using non traditional colours. The stamp set is gorgeous and is only available in the Spring Mini Catalogue until the end of November. Its called Tree Trimmings. I found the unusual colour combination and thought I would try it for a Christmas Card. It’s not the most Christmassy card I’ve made but I still like it for something different. The degree of difficulty steps up a notch because I recommend using the Stamp-a-ma-jig for the bauble strings to get them perfectly vertical. The time taken to make this also increases due to the need to cut out the baubles by hand. Being on dark cardstock I used a white insert and stamped a bauble and string inside also.

The colours are Basic Grey with Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss. The strings are stamped with Basic Grey ink. Once again I used the scallop edge punch. The Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon is so smooth and shiny and the bit of bling on the bauble the is a blue rhinestone brad. The Best Wishes sentiment is from the Oval All stamp set, also in the Spring Mini Catalogue. This has been mounted on an Oval Scallop Punch, our newest punch from the Spring Mini again. It fits just perfectly inside the Wide Oval punch we introuduced to you back in April.

Hope you like….

Lastly, this card has much more fuss about it. The border is done using the Always in Bloom wheel with a technique I taught ladies at a recent show at Wayville as well as a couple of workshops. Its an excellent technique for mitred corners so you dont see any messy overlap. The Snow Swirled stamp set is used again with Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke on Whisper White.

The gold ink is a gold Encore Pad and very beautiful. Just wait a minute because it smudges if not completely dry. The is a lot of punching, cutting, and sticking in this card. You could make them production line style if you wish but they do take a little longer than the first two.

As you can see I am a bit hooked on the scallop edge punch and this time I have paired it with the All Scallops stamp set for the gold detail on the scallop. A small star punch and a 1/2″ circle punch is needed for the baubles.

Very pretty.

Angie, focusing instead Listen to songson the man who has become a father of six since leaving her in 2005.
“Jen worried about the songs, albums, playlistsinevitable encounter between her and Brad for weeks,” adds the source. “She thought about Angie, but it was Brad that she was nervous about seeing.”
Although Jen, Music centre 40, appears to have found love again with singer John Mayer, she is still troubled by the past. “Once her eyes met Brad’s that night, it rekindled all the old feelings,” says the insider. “She has never stopped loving Brad.”
And the feelings may be mutual. “Just because Brad was swept ofThis feet by Angelina, it didn’t mean he ever stopped loving Jen,” adds the source. “He has this obsession with Angelina and felt he had to explore a relationship with her.”
However, the 45-year-old star of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button did not intend for his relationship with Angie to become so serious, so soon after his split from Jen.
T
“Things just seemed to snowball, and the next thing Brad knew, he had six kids [Maddox, 7, Pax, 5, Zahara, 4, Shiloh, 2, and 7-month-old twins Knox and
Vivienne],” the insider tells OKI of the shocking romance that blossomed on the set

Here is a card I made using several Spellbinders™ die templates and some springy papers. (I really do love fall, just tired this morning and need some levity.)

Add some distressing and some hole punching, layer it up and you got it.

Important Stuff: Wizard, S5-006 Curved Rectangles, S4-166 Ric Rac Borderabilities®, S4-138 Petite Ovals Large (Spellbinders); Blue brads (Creative Impresions), Glue Dots, Crop-a-Dile (We R Memory Keepers)

Other Stuff: Pink patterned paper (Sonshine), Magenta chalk ink, Flower paper (Karen Foster Design)

Instructions (feel free to customize, of course. I didn’t add dimensions so you can create this any size):

Create a card base that is longer in the back than in the front.

Cut a strip of paper that will fit the width and is about half the height

Cut the edge with S6-166 Ric Rac Border. Do not emboss.

Punch holes along the cut edge at the indentations from the scallop, as shown.

Cut a strip of white core paper or cardstock for the center strip. Crumple it, adding many ridges.

Press the ridges “flat” using your fingers and sand over the top of it.

Cut/Emboss S5-006 Curved Rectangles die template, chossing a size.

Cut/Emboss S4-138 Petite Ovals Large, choosing a size.

Stamp sentiment onto Oval.

Ink oval and card edges.

Assemble card: layering elements and adding brads as shown.

See, don’t you feel more cheery now? I know I do.

Now off to dinner with my family. See you all soon, Eli
