Here are the tracks that I wrote for Monotonik last winter. After waiting for months and getting various promises from Simon it now appears that these tracks are never gonna come out on the label. Therefor I decided to make them available here, for free and for your pleasure. I hope you enjoy.

As you have probably noticed, I’ve not been uploading much new material lately. It is simply due to the fact that I’ve got a job again and being made redundant was the idea of this blog in the first place. I don’t have as much time for writing music now as I am working during the week. Nothing abnormal there But I’m not gonna stop writing music that I’ve written for over 20 years nor will I be burying this blog. I hope patience from you.

Peace.

Freakuency is a new decentralized radio online in a testing level which is started after long discussions , little steps of development , searching for resources , sharing skills. We are definitely convinced that was the right way to start a radio project. A horizontal way with all of us participating in a beautiful decentralized process with one purpose: starting a new online radio project collective related to electronic music interests.

Finally we succeed , our efforts came out with results and our little radio is online. Techno , minimal dj sets , house tunes , progressive attitudes , underground concepts , supporting local scenes and artists , drum n bass , dubstep as well as electro releases are occupying the self organized DIY “studios of our decentralised radio , broadcasting from everywhere.

Our project is open to new contributions and ideas , the only thing you have to do is to send us an open letter to our email address , describing your ideas. If you re willing to do it we will be glad to reply to you as soon as possible. The day schedule of our radio is an open process for discussion , with our collective discussing every new idea and possibility. So feel free to share your ideas with us

Taken from Jumpin & Pumpin 12 inch released 1991

from discogs -

Infamous British duo who met in the 1980’s in Manchester. Their very influential discography shows off influences spanning acid house, hardcore techno, ambient, krautrock, 60’s psychedelica, and more. Previously Dougans, as Humanoid, had a UK Top 10 hit with Staker Humanoid. Together as FSOL, they scored a major crossover success with Papua New Guinea. Their first full-length Accelerator charted their dancefloor-friendly early career, after which FSOL moved into deeper, more album-oriented word. Lifeforms was a double-disc set spanning long stretches of breakbeat-flavored ambience. It was followed by Dead Cities which added hip-hop, trip-hop, industrial textures, and bleak urban imagery into their mix of influences. Their ISDN album compiled music from their ISDN-uplinked radio broadcasts from the mid-1990’s. After Dead Cities came out in 1996, they dropped off the radar. After a long hiatus in which they were surrounded by rumors of insanity and drug addiction, the Papua New Guinea Translations concept remix album came out, followed by the full-length The Isness and more material under the Amorphous Androgynous name.

The Sensi-tize boys barely try with this tune, they literally lift the best bits of Clubhouses’ “Light My Fire”, pitch it up 20% and chuck a banging breakbeat behind it.
The boys from FSOL under the Mental Cube moniker released this monstrous STORMER onto an unsuspecting public. Its one of the most mature, rocking, flat out pounding techno crossover tracks of the early nineties. What makes it so amazing is hard to pin down, it might be the string section with its uplifting melancholy (!) or could it be the twangy 808 bassline? No idea, but I LOVE this tune. I could listen to it forever.

From Discogs
“Q” is one of the best songs FSOL ever made. Its amazing to see how Brian Dougans & Garry Cobain brought both of their amazing minds together to make such a Beautiful, Powerful & Enjoyable Techno Track.
This ill take to my grave!
6 Out of 5.

Η πρώτη τους δουλειά κυκλοφόρησε το 2000, με τίτλο “It’s All Gone”. Εξαιρετικό ντεμπούτο, με ένα album άκρως δυναμικό και χορευτικό, που θα σε κάνει να λικνίζεσαι μέχρι πρωίας… 4/5!

Rhythm Section’s lineup reads like a who’s who of hardcore producers and DJ’s – Ellis Dee and Rennie Pilgrem for starters, with Dan Pilgrem, Nick Scott and Richie T chipping in on the Atomic EP that this is lifted from. Takes a completely clean Amen and boosts the bass and midrange output and throws a massive bassline behind it. Storming!

Had this on a couple of old ass jammin’ mixtapes, mostly just the Hard Instrumental but I gotta confess to liking the rhymes on this slice of classic UK Hiphop.

Taken from thewhitenoiserevisited.co.uk – the only info I could get on this track
Originally released on Mark Brydon’s Nottingham-based FON Records (FON stood for ‘Fuck Off Nazis’) in 1989, ‘Hey! Hey! Can You Relate?’ is credited to Mink featuring 2wic-e the Trouble. This track is a fully paid-up member of the proper banger club, with hard as hell breakbeats, an awesome array of funk samples, and 2wic-e the Trouble’s fluid raps. They’re not the greatest MC’s by any stretch of the imagination, but their rhymes work perfectly with the track, and Mink proves himself to be a decent scratch DJ, demonstrating his ample skills towards the end of the track.

One of life’s great mysteries is why ‘Hey! Hey! Can You Relate?’, a brilliant slice of British hip hop from Nottingham’s DJ Mink and 2wic-e the Trouble (aka The K.I.D. and Carruthers), remains the only thing they ever did.

From DJ Razorcuts
“I still have my FON copy of this record… given to me by The KID himself back in 88… I was 17 at the time and was part of the Nottm scene and had worked with other members of the Rock City Crew like Pepse and Trix. DJ Mink was actually from Sheffield and was the younger brother of DJ Mongoose. KID Carruthers, or Lloyd to those that knew him was one of the Rock City crew turned MC and this was the best British hip-hop record I’d ever heard and I think it still is – I still play it out all the time, it rocks, but Hip Hop, especially stuff this hardcore was at the time very minority and most DJs wouldn’t even give the record a listen because it was English, it was tragic. About a year later I heard Lloyd (KID) was into heroin and burglary, which is real sad. Mink got into being a house/rave DJ and did well in the North for some time. I don’t know if either of them know the importance of this record at all.”

Swordxl delivers his first release for Xynthetic with the 10-track full length release ‘It’s Evolution Baby.’ Angular and oblique breakbeats collide with plush melodies and soft atmospherics through a variety of remixes of/by and original tracks from Swordxl. This release offers something for the casual listener as well as grist for those looking to dive deeper into the more cerebral end of breakcore and leftfield downtempo.

A deep variety pack of remixes, oblique breaks… an opaque lo-fi grab bag with something for the discerning listener

Atari Teenage Riot. This record is not entirely new to me. But it’s been a long time. And I’ve never known it back to front like I, perhaps, once did another of their albums “The Future of War”. ATR are not to everyone’s taste. And understandably. The one and only time I ever saw them play was at the Big Day Out Festival. It was around 2 in the afternoon and the crowd were beginning to gather. I knew them by name but had never listened to anything. The sun was warm. Half the crowd was clad in black and awaiting Nine Inch Nails later that night. Out stormed Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and Carl Crack to an onslaught of blips, screeches, feedback and insanely fast break beats. The crowd erupted into circles, into thrashing, into destruction whilst curious onlookers stood aghast wondering what the hell was going on.

There’s a time to live and a time to die! 60 Second Wipe Out is brutal. It’s hard, it’s fast, it’s angry and it’s a call to arms. Elias screeches and wails, chorus chanting with Empire and intermittent rap from Crack as drums crash around harsh noise that eeks structure in its chaos. I’m sold. I can’t help but love them. Lyrically, they’re nothing but political, invoking some form of anarcho-nihilism that I’ve always felt sympathy for without actually being able to give myself into. Musically, the album is industrial, but nothing like other industrial groups – Einsturzende (no.), Ministry (no.), Ohgr (no.) Nine Inch Nails (no.) – it lacks that melody amongst the chaos that these other bands find. There is catchiness. But it calls for you to grab a metal bar and smash everything to pieces. It is industrial, breakbeat, punk, metal and noise all wrapped up in one very loud, very angry hour.

Revolution Action, Death of A President and Too Dead For Me are probably the standout tracks but amidst the wall of noise, you can always find something.

Sometime soon, I will get around to listening to Alec Empire’s latest album and to Hanin Elias’ solo effort. If anyone anywhere has Carl Crack’s solo album, I’d love to have a copy.

Here’s a new remix of an old tune. This tune, Dark Night of the Soul, was on our 1998 album, Reformation. The original tune was our attempt at drum and bass, before we really knew anything about drum and bass.
