Thanksgiving break is over and now all college students have returned to their respective campuses to trudge through the last couple weeks of the semester which is sure to be filled with projects stacked onto papers stacked on to exams.

Most students are now regretting all of the time the wasted throughout the week sleeping in instead of working on their homework, but there are some other things that the students could have done to make their break more productive.

Working is the key word. Many college students have jobs at school, but few have a job at home when they go on breaks, but when is a better time to work than when there is no class to worry about.

This is a great time to put in a couple extra hours without becoming 100% exhausted from the rest of the stresses of life.

Remember, there aren’t many breaks left in life like the ones you have while in college (unless of course you are going to become a teacher), students should take advantage of these.

Many places of work offer a system of scheduling that if you have put in the hours before you went to college, they will put you on the schedule when you are back in the area. 

Other times there are programs, such as camps that occur over break and many of these organizations would be more than willing to hire a college student for the week, or however long your break maybe. Sometimes colleges will host these events over spring break like Virginia Commonwealth University.

As for working at home over break, many students start their search in November; however, 53% are still looking for a job, according to All Business website. And, earning extra cash was number motivator for find a job.

Some of the jobs may not be the easiest or ideal but the extra cash is what is important.

Just remember, there is still homework you need to catch up on so don’t over schedule yourself.

WINDERMERE, Florida (AP)—Tiger Woods finally gave his side of the story Sunday — on his Web site, not to police—and took the blame for an “embarrassing” car crash that gave him cuts, bruises and public scrutiny like never before.

His statement failed to clear up any questions about the middle-of-the-night accident outside his Isleworth estate in which his wife told police she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the Cadillac SUV to help him out.

“This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me,” Woods said on his Web site. “I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

The statement was posted around 2 p.m. Sunday, about an hour after Woods’ attorney told the Florida Highway Patrol that for the third straight day golf’s No. 1 player would be unavailable to talk to troopers.

This time, the meeting was not rescheduled.

Even so, Sgt. Kim Montes of FHP said troopers went to Woods’ $2.4 million estate anyway, only for attorney Mark NeJame to turn them away. The attorney gave troopers Woods’ driver’s license, registration and insurance as required by law for such accidents.

Woods said the crash was a private matter, and he intended to keep it that way.

“Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible,” he said. “The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.”

Woods is scheduled to compete at his Chevron World Challenge, which starts Thursday in California, although his tournament director did not know Woods’ status for the tournament—whether he would play or even attend.

Even with his first public comments on the 2:25 a.m. Friday accident, Woods left several questions.

— Where he was going at that time of the night?

— How did he lose control of his SUV at such a speed that the air bags didn’t deploy?

— Why were both rear windows of the Cadillac Escalade smashed?

— If it was a careless mistake, why not speak to state troopers trying to wrap the investigation?

“We have been informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that further discussion with them is both voluntary and optional,” Mark Steinberg, his agent at IMG, said in an e-mail. “Although Tiger realizes that there is a great deal of public curiosity, it has been conveyed to FHP that he simply has nothing more to add and wishes to protect the privacy of his family.”

Woods’ wife turned troopers away from their home in the exclusive gated community outside Orlando on Friday, the day of the accident, because she said he was sleeping. Steinberg called troopers en route to Woods’ house on Saturday and postponed the meeting until Sunday.

“We’re just continuing our traffic crash investigation,” Montes said. “If we have somebody who we feel is pertinent to the investigation, then we will interview them.”

She said the 911 caller was interviewed Saturday, and investigators might speak with other people who were at the scene as well.

The FHP released the 911 call from an unidentified neighbor on Sunday.

“I have a neighbor, he hit the tree. And we came out here just to see what was going on. I see him and he’s laying down,” the neighbor told dispatchers without ever identifying the victim as Woods.

Asked if the victim was unconscious, the neighbor replied, “Yes.”

Part of the call were inaudible because of a bad connection. At one point, the voice of a woman is heard yelling, “What happened!”

“We’re just trying to get the police here right now,” the neighbor says to the woman. “We don’t know what happened. We’re figuring that out right now. I’m on the phone with the police right now.”

According to the FHP accident report, Woods had just pulled out of his driveway when he struck a fire hydrant and then a tree. Woods said he had cuts, bruising and “right now I’m a little sore.”

Montes said the Woods’ car was towed for “safekeeping,” and authorities have already documented where the damage is on the vehicle and the point of impact.

The accident came two days after the National Enquirer published a story alleging that Woods had been seeing a New York night club hostess, and that they recently were together in Melbourne, where Woods competed in the Australian Masters.

The woman, Rachel Uchitel, denied having an affair with Woods when contacted by The Associated Press.

Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred confirmed she was representing Uchitel when she was reached by the AP on Sunday.

“She is with me in L.A.,” Allred said later in an e-mail to the AP. “We plan to meet and then we’ll decide on the next step, which we do not plan to announce to the press.”

Uchitel arrived at Los Angeles International Airport late Sunday morning, where she was met by Allred and escorted out of the baggage claim area and into a black car. Uchitel did not speak to reporters except to ask that she be left alone.

Aside from occasional criticism of his temper inside the ropes, Woods has kept himself out of the news beyond his sport. In an October posting on his Facebook account, Woods wrote, “I’m asked why people don’t often see me and Elin in gossip magazines or tabloids. I think we’ve avoided a lot of media attention because we’re kind of boring. …”

Nachdem ich gestern in sein Album “Butter” reingehört habe und fasziniert von seinen verschroben-elektronischen Beats bin, stundenlang den Sounds zuhören kann, für die man sich früher fredmschämte und dies wieder einmal die Musik ist, die neue Akzente setzt, auf die man inzwischen lange wartet, wurde mein Hörgenuss heute noch ein Level höher gehieft.

Sin duda esta es la mejor pista de las dos que nos presentan en este lanzamiento, un trabajo sencillamente perfecto y con un ritmo de vértigo, baterias tremendamente trabajadas y marcadas dan un gran ritmo y fuerza a la pista junto a los grandes redobles, unos bajos crujientes y punzantes capaces de hacer bailar a cualquiera y frenéticas melodias acompañadas de las grandes vocales y el gran manejo en los efectos de ecos en las mismas y un gran manejo de la técnica del Glitch. Sin duda una gran pista para cerrar el año por parte de Funkatech!

2. Pyramid vs Specimen A – No Games (Original Mix)

De nuevo nos encontramos con otra batería de infarto, con grandes redobles para los diferentes cambios de ritmos y unas demoledores lineas de bajo esta vez algo más influenciadas en el Electro House con una fuerza desgarradora, grandes melodias de acompañamiento y efectos por todas partes, pequeñas muestras vocales para acompañar, una atmosfera muy bien cuidada, y unas subidas frenéticas, para que no pares de bailar en todo el tiempo.

Revisión:

1. Diverted – Big Baby Fear (Diverted Club Edit)

En esta versión de esta elegante pista del grupo Diverted nos muestran una pista más enfocada a la pista de baile, con un ritmo Breaks bastante bueno y una clara influencia al Electro House y en el mejor Funky, unas baterías perfectamente cuidadas y montadas sobre grandes bajos sintéticos, sin duda, es una pista perfecta para este sello ya que goza de una clara elegancia en su producción, vocales perfectamente cuidadas y una atmosfera muy happy. Los toques de piano y esa atmosfera son un trabajo sobervio.

2. Diverted – Big Baby Fear (Mr No Hand Remix)

El señor No Hands está demostrando que es capaz de superarse a cada lanzamiento que edita, en esta ocasión nos encontramos con una remezcla algo más oscura que la pista original, un gran montaje en esta pista Breaks que goza de una gran atmosfera, grandes juegos de batería muy bien controlados y montados sobre una base tipo Amen que se deja ver de vez en cuando, una linea de bajo muy crujiente y juguetona que invita a bailar a cualquiera, efectos perfectamente cuidados y una segunda subida perfecta para esta remezcla, sin duda un gran trabajo.

3. Diverted – Big Baby Fear (Nick Thayer Remix)

En esta tercera pista nos encontramos con una versión enfocada más al Electro House por parte de Nick Thayer, una gran pista con grandes cambios de ritmos, una base bastante bien creada y marcada montada bajo una pequeña base Breaks, bajos subgraves muy bien diseñados y juguetones, grandes lineas melódicas bastante curiosas, un buen manejo de la atmosfera aplicando pequeños ecos. Buen trabajo.

I recently featured the heavenly 10. mins. original of Four Tet – “Love Cry”, and to get to grips on a remix of such beauty is no mean feat.

The hype surrounding the Joy Orbison remix of “Love Cry” has been stupendous, with the mix floating around on You Tube screening in the Blog’o’sphere, but here you have the real beast in full 320 calibre for you to witness what the fuss is about.

Joy Orbison delivers a shimmering, summery, breaks-fuelled diamond, which floats out of your speakers like freshly melted butter on a warm summer day.

It’s a top-notch 5. mins production you can’t boot, but since I’m a sucker for longer mixes, which soaks you into the embodiment of the core of the track my money is still firmly placed on the spellbinding original.

But – as Derrick May says – “It is what it is!”, and you make your own decisions which is the best.

Freeze The Hedgestick: The Main Protagonist in the Flamegame series. THIS time, he not only aims to take over the world that most A.Z.I games take place on (where ever that is), but he also has a bone to pick with Flame and all around him… a huge, electrical, spiky bone, at that. he’s also found away to mass-produce robotic clones of the ice demon he recreated and took control of, Black Ice. he even has an entire plant dedicated to doing so. Now, HOW does he do THAT?

BOR-12: robotic clones of an Apocalypse-Bringing demon known as Black Ice. Pictured here is BOR-12, AKA Boris, minus his Admiral Cap. without it, he basically looks just like all the other clones. Go Figure. Those who played (and beat) the Original FG3 should remember that the monster could hover around the room and shoot Frozen Fireballs at it’s victim. Flame narrowly escaped being turned to frosty cinders.

Other Facts:

• FG3E Means “FlameGameThreeExpansion”. What? “X” would sound kinda generic, no?
• the violet that Violet wears in her hair should look a little better in the actual game.
• There is a possibility of Puzzle stages, however, I have no idea how they’ll work. (XP)
• 4th Wall Breaks will be inevitable, in one scene, Flame even accuses Shredster (ME) of creating a terrible plot for the game!

Oh, and one more thing: STEAL THESE SPRITES AND DIE!!!

Around these parts there’s always reason to celebrate when something with the stamped producer seal of approval by the awesome – Ewan Pearson – lands on your desk.

Manchester outfit – Delphic – reached critical acclaim for their “Counterpoint” and “This Momentary” singles, and with Ewan Pearson onboard in the producer chair on their forthcoming album – “Acolyte” – rearing its head in January 2010 expectations are certainly still running very high.

First single from the album is “Doubt”, and as you expect this is great, melodic, breaks-driven stuff, which will see you singing along before you can hum the the theme tune to X-Factor.

Luckily for us Delphic have far more talent and edge than a bunch of twats pretending to become pop stars, and whoever gets behind the remix desk on “Doubt” we can only speculate about, but it will definitely be worthy of your attention.

If not only for the involvement of Ewan Pearson!

There’s a time and place for everything, and sometimes you get the urge for ripping up floorboards, tearing down walls and throw the cat against the wall.

Admittedly – the craze for fierce, head-boshing, teeth-grinding Electro started to wear off a long time ago with people having moved on to other pastures. As Erol Alkan recently said in an interview: “……..Not to dismiss the current scene, but there is stuff that has got a bit too hard and a bit too mindless – if we’re not careful we’re only a few steps from Hard House or stuff like that. Let’s bring some funk back, let’s not just bang our heads on walls!”.

But – sometimes you need Hadouken! who is on the verge of releasing their new album in January 2010. Expect loud guitars, fierce breaks and enough commotion to start a fire, and if in doubt check their new single – “Turn The Lights Out” – from the forthcoming album, which comes barging at you at 200 miles an hour.

The Prodigy certainly didn’t exist in vain. Neither did Linkin Park or Rage Against The Machine, and with “Turn The Lights Out” you get a fine cross between the three with enough action to knock your lights out.

Stand well clear of the speakers!

In recent months, I’ve become acutely aware of how life and business can easily conflict with each other. It seems that the work involved in creating a successful business is never done, and if there’s an avalanche to come in life, it’s going to happen when there are deadlines looming and there’s a mountain of work to be done.

I’ve had a series of avalanches lately, which reminds me:

• There will never be perfect balance, peace and harmony between work life and personal life. Adjust accordingly.
• It’s important to avoid procrastinating and allowing things to pile up, whether that be work-related to-dos or the laundry and dishes. When avalanches strike, you’ll appreciate not feeling more burdened and overwhelmed by those little reminders of chaos and unrest.
• Try (at least the majority of the time) to honor a daily routine, a daily practice that keeps things humming along slowly but steadily. When things get crazy, the cushion built by that daily practice will allow for greater flexibility.
• Take regular time away from the business. Mental and physical stamina comes in handy during times of stress or when there’s more work than usual to be done.
• Remember that it’s not the big stresses, but the ongoing daily ones that cause more harm over the long term. The work will get done, eventually, so ease up where possible.
• Build (and learn to more steadily depend upon) a team of people to keep the business going, not only during challenging times but every day.
• Time flies whether you’re having fun or not, so why not have more fun?

Entrepreneurs, frelancers and small business owners have a tendency to run at a dangerously fast pace all the time, forgetting how important it is to step back and look at the big picture to make sure it resembles the vision and life they intended to create for themselves.

We can try to run at high speeds all the time, but life will inevitably throw up walls to slow us down. It’s important to intentionally steady the pace to account for those unexpected obstacles and be able to safely navigate around them. For me that means starting with a few simple steps:

• Being more selective with my work and obligations and saying no a lot sooner and a lot more frequently.
• Becoming diligent about honoring a regular stop time for work and learning to shut the office door behind me (and leaving it closed the entire time I’m off).
• Incrementally delegating routine tasks that tend to pile up and leave me strapped for time to focus on the most important things in my life and business.

It’s easy to ignore the rate at which we work and then become overwhelmed when the unexpected inevitably occurs. The easier option is to start making changes now to prepare for those times when you need more flexibility and wiggle room. While it’s impossible to plan for everything, it’s helpful to have a few safety nets in place to support you during challenging times.

1. J*O*K*R – On Point (Original Mix)

La pista original de este lanzamiento es una mezcla de Breaks y Electro House bastante bien trabajada, con partes de baterias Breaks y una mayor parte Electro House, un ritmo muy pistero el conseguido en todo momento, con grandes juegos de diferentes basslines típicos del mejor Electro House, buenos juegos vocales y un gran manejo de la atmosfera y los efectos, además de grandes riffs melódicos. Sin duda una buena pista.

2. J*O*K*R – On Point (Myagi Remix)

Manteniendo las vocales y parte de la ambientación de la producción original, Myagi nos presenta su particular vision Breaks de esta pista, con un gran manejo de las lineas de bajo perfectamente encajadas en las baterias, pequeños riffs de guitarras y grandes melodias acompañan la pista hasta alcanzar el climax. Sin duda una de las mejores pistas de Myagi.

3. J*O*K*R – On Point (Jay Stewart Remix)

Le toca el turno a Jay, que nos abre la pista con un gran juego de percusiones, y nos presenta unas baterias muy bien desarrolladas y marcadas, un buen juego de subgraves y peuqeñas melodias minimalistas acompañan la pista, en la cual se crea una buena atmosfera, pequeñas melodias acidas se disparan y se alternan de vez en cuando, su segunda parte es muy percusiva y es bastante buena!

4. J*O*K*R – On Point (Joebot Remix)

En este remix de Joebot nos volvemos a encontrar con grandes percusiones y una batería Breaks perfectamente marcada y con varios juegos de scratch. Encontramos pequeños juegos con las vocales originales, hasta que llegamos al climax y nos encontramos con un bajo crujiente y grueso acompañado de riffs melódicos y un buen juego de baterias. Joebot se crece en esta pista y desarrolla una producción bastante original y bien trabajada.

5. J*O*K*R – On Point (Udy Remix)

Udy nos presenta la segunda pista Electro House del lanzamiento, un gran remix con pequeñas influencias del Dub Step. La pista mantiene un gran ritmo en casi toda su extensión, unos bajos muy sinteticos y gruesos marcan el ritmo junto a los juegos vocales, creando una atmosfera bastante pistera , sin duda un gran remix Electro House por parte de esta joven promesa.

“If there’s time to lean, there’s time to clean.” The conventional view of productivity is that the more a worker works and the fewer the breaks they take, then most productive they will be. But productivity is not that simple.

Co-workers of all different skill levels make up a work crew. So if a veteran tradesman and a novice take a lunch break together, the novice has the opportunity to socialize with the tradesman. He can learn a trade secret, he can get a mentor-style review of his techniques, he can pick up information about the purpose of the project at hand and how he fits into the plan to get it done.

The veteran tradesmen can get an idea of the novice’s interest in the project at hand their attitude toward the tasks they are doing, mishaps of family life that might strain the worker’s focus.

With the amount of background information and soft facts that can be exchanged, with the team-building that can occur, break time is an essential part of the day for workers, especially when guided productively by a savvy foreman.

HERE COMES THE BREAK!

Wow…the next three years were pivotal. For me, and many others, these were some of the best in part because of the emergence of funky breaks and in 1994 there were two records for me that summed it up best. First, the huge bass heavy sound of the Dust Brothers’ “Chemical Beats” (we now know them as the Chemical Brothers). There is no doubt this track helped guide the slower, groovier break scene to the spotlight. There is still another that has just stuck with me for years as being the sickest of 1994, a track off Jim Hopkins’ Twitch label and produced by artists Courtney Nielsen & DJ Spun under the name Central Fire. I included both versions of the track “Central Fire (Yes People It’s Time: Part 1 & 2).” Part 1 is especially good and it brings back great memories of some bad ass years in dance music.

BTW, can I tell you now that 1995 is going to be near impossible…so much good music came out it won’t be easy to narrow it down to one.
