“You have got this divide, this polarization in America,” said Senator Olympia J.
From Life News, December 23, 2009.

“Stupak: Obama Admin Bullying Me to Accept Abortion Funding in Health Care”

“Congressman Bart Stupak, the pro-life Democrat who has been the consistent champion against abortion funding in the health care bill, says the Obama administration is trying to bully him. Stupak says in a new interview that he will not back down in the face of pressure from the White House.

Stupak told CNS News that the White House and top Congressional Democrats are attempting to twist his arm to accept the Reid-Nelson “compromise” language that still allows massive taxpayer financing of abortions.

“They think I shouldn’t be expressing my views on this bill until they get a chance to try to sell me the language,” Stupak told CNSNews Tuesday.

“Well, I don’t need anyone to sell me the language. I can read it. I’ve seen it. I’ve worked with it. I know what it says. I don’t need to have a conference with the White House. I have the legislation in front of me here,” Stupak said defiantly.

Stupak said the White House specifically requested that he not talk about the Nelson sellout and the language that the Senate has approved via the Reid manager’s amendment.

Stupak said that the White House “asked me just to hold off for awhile and not to say anything about this language.”
He told the conservative news outlet, “But as soon as the news broke that they had this [compromise], and they got the 60 votes, folks were asking me, and I’m not going to run from the issue I’m going to stand up and say, ‘Look, here’s my objections.’ Here – it’s not just my objections – but there’s a number of my [colleagues] who feel strongly about this issue, and these are the parts that have to be fixed.””

“Stupak said after Nelson’s compromise that he will not back down and will “hold firm” against abortion funding.”

WP: Vice President Biden presided over the 60-39, party-line vote, which brings Democrats closer than ever to realizing their 70-year-old goal of universal health coverage.

Notice the not-so-Freudian slip. UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE.

For the first time, most Americans would be required to obtain health insurance, either through their employer or via new, government-regulated exchanges. Those who can’t afford insurance plans would receive federal subsidies.

Subsidies paid for by?

You guessed it.

Us. Not Them.

Congrats.

It’s a Baby.

Vampire that is.

That if allowed to live will suck the life out of Everyone.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared that: “We stand on the doorstep of history.”

Infamy more likely.

And after all, their place in “history” and it’s immortality was far more important than the will of the People.

But since the liberal control education I’m sure the Republicans will be to blame when this Frankenstein’s Monster rampages through The Village.

Republicans fought the Senate bill with every parliamentary weapon they could muster, raising a series of motions on that failed along party lines. The rhetoric grew more harsh as time ran short.

“From rationing care to infringing on the doctor-patient relationship, this government-run system will guarantee U.S. taxpayers a staggering tax burden for generations to come,” Grassley said on the Senate floor. The final bill, Grassley said, “doesn’t do any of these things that we set out to do at the beginning.”

No, Senator. It doesn’t (on the things they SAID were the goals).

A challenge to the Senate health bill’s constitutionality failed on Wednesday afternoon in a party-line vote.
Sens. John Ensign (R-Nev.) and Orrin Hatch’s (R-Utah) point of order arguing that the Senate bill is unconstitutional under the Interstate Commerce Clause and Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution failed in a 39-60 vote. (The Hill)

And even the vaunted CBO has recently admitted to an error in their calculations, the one’s Democrats have been touting (Sounds a bit Copenhaegn-y don’t it?)(FOX): The Congressional Budget Office said Sunday that the Senate health care bill would not reduce long-term federal deficits as much as previously estimated, acknowledging that it made an “error” in its original analysis.

In correcting the mistake, Elmendorf noted that projections for a bill 10-to-20 years down the road can be highly unreliable.

“The imprecision of these calculations reflects the even greater degree of uncertainty that attends to them,” he wrote.

But on getting it passed so that they could force the drugs down everyone’s throat so they can addict them and make it look like it’s for their own good, they did succeed.

So Far.

But as Yogi Berra would say, “It ain’t over ‘Till it’s over”.

The House and Senate versions are radically different.

But it’s now about pride of Ideology, and Party. Not actually helping people.

And the American People must rise up and pressure them before the final vote on whatever mutant form of Socialized Medicine comes out in the final product.

Make no mistake, all Democrats are Liberals. And all Liberals are Democrats.

It’s about Ideology.

It’s about Party.

It’s not about You.

It’s about Them.

Their egos. Their Pride. Their “historic moment”.

The ascendancy of the Socialist Liberal Nanny State. Where they control you from before birth to after death.

And they have complete contempt for you and the process as this example From The Hill shows:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) elicited perhaps the strongest reaction after he originally voted no on the health care reform bill he has crafted and ushered through the Senate for months.
Reid quickly threw up his arms in the air and bowed his head to his podium, drawing a hardy round of laughs from senators in the chamber. It’s not clear if Reid’s original vote was a mistake or a joke, but Reid said that he spent Wednesday night trying to think of ways to show some bipartisanship.

Yes, folks, bi-partisanship is a joke to Democrats.

Lest, you think the Fourth Estate, the mighty “journalist” was going to press the White House for answers, and askl tough questions, think again:

A press conference that began with White House press secretary Robert Gibbs announcing that since “last week we did a sort of happy hour briefing,” he thought “today we’d do sort of a brunch briefing,” got more trivial — and insulting by the minute.

What we got from America’s intrepid practitioners of First Amendment freedoms was a discussion about “a pink polka-dot shirt and a checkered tie.”

“What color are your socks today?” Gibbs asked one member of the press corps. Then it was on to the reporter “with the snappy blue tie and hopefully darker socks,” as Gibbs described his attire.

Not long after that came a question that must have kept C-SPAN junkies on the edge of their seats: “Does the president support Senator Akaka’s native Hawaiian government reorganization act, creating a native Hawaiian government within the state of Hawaii?”

There were jokes about cell phones going off — “Is somebody ordering a pizza?” Gibbs asked — and of equipment being noisily dropped — “Careful … this room isn’t paid for!” said Gibbs. “This is just a rental!” But there were no serious questions about what is contained in Congress’ worst-ever piece of legislation, rammed through in the middle of the night on a party-line vote.

We got touchy-feely questions like, “As the president is winding down this first year in office, as he looks back over this year, is he at the point now where he can say, this is kind of what I expected?”

Oh yes, and we learned that on the president’s upcoming vacation in Hawaii, “he will probably take the girls out for shaved ice.”

The whole thing is a joke to them.

Well, I’m not laughing, because it’s at MY EXPENSE.

When a question was asked about the president not discussing the government-run option for health reform with independent Sen. Joseph Lieberman, no answer was given because, said Gibbs, “if you’re looking back, it’s generally rehashing.”

Old News. We Won. Up yours. <<stick tongue out>>. Move on, nothing to see but a Jon Stewart Comedy Central routine. Next…

Reid during his final floor remarks said that many senators could hear (Teddy) Kennedy’s voice “ringing” in their ears.

I wonder if any of them heard Mary Jo Kopeckne??

“This bill is a real threat to liberty because of the precedent that it sets on the federal government being able to tell individuals what to do,” said Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.).

But it’s not night fall yet.

Dusk maybe.

But not night fall.

The Dark Side hasn’t won’t quite yet, young Skywalker.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through D.C.
Not a creature was stirring — except for sixty.
The health care bill made them wish they weren’t alive,
And they wanted Obama Claus soon to arrive.

The Dems were all anxious, they wanted to leave
For they know, in a year, six or seven will grieve.
The entire debate blew up in the Dems’ faces
And made their polls sink in all of the big races!

They don’t want to remember this nightmare existed,
Nor employ on constituents logic so twisted.
Harry Reid hid the bill, but I think this is it –
I will spell it all out with my rhyme and my wit:

There is no “public option,” progressives are crying
And distorting the CBO, Barry is lying
Mary Landrieu was bought off, but nobody cares
And Ben Nelson is pro-life — really, he swears by it

Medicare’s still insolvent, but we’re gonna slash it –
(But those evil Repukes are the ones who will smash it!)
The majority will says the bill is a clunker –
(But we’ve got cash for that, and the DNC bunker)

Pre-existing conditions? Irrelevant, now –
It’ll reduce our costs, though we can’t tell you how.
Tort reform was avoided with diligent care,
And we left state monopolies all standing there.

Now Obama Claus comes and he asks them to vote –
58, 59 — ah, at last he can gloat! –
For the ayes have it, sir, and the bill has been passed!
We have the damned health care reform here at last!

“Now Nelson! Now, Lincoln! Now, Pryor and Joe!
On, Evan! On, Landrieu! On, Baucus and Snowe!
To the top of the deficit, ceiling of debt!
We’re going to bankrupt the U.S.A. yet!”

I woke up the next morning and saw on TV
I got health care handouts — coming straight from D.C.!
Obama, I thought — you did all this for me?
“Think it costs lots right now? Just you wait ’til it’s free!”

“A legal scholar says the Senate healthcare bill is not only stuffed full of racial quotas and preferences, but it also gives the disgraced liberal activist group ACORN opportunities to receive funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Harry Reid’s (D-Nevada) “manager’s amendment” in the Senate healthcare bill requires that six federal agencies each establish an “Office of Minority Health.” Under that requirement, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is supposed to award grants and contracts to organizations that are “indigenous human resource providers in communities of color” and engage in “community outreach activities” — the type of work ACORN says it has been doing for years.

Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, says scandal-plagued ACORN — the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now — is exactly the kind of organization that will be applying for and receiving these federal funds.

“It illustrates this wrong assumption that’s all throughout this huge bill, and that is there are all these racial preferences and racial quotas everywhere in it,” he explains. “There’s this whole assumption by the left that the disparities in healthcare have to do with the racial background of doctors — something that is completely untrue — and it’s these kinds of things that in fact may worsen healthcare across the country.”"

It was over 220 years ago when the rag tag troops of George Washington’s Continental Army settled into Valley Forge, Pennsylvania just six days before Christmas. It would be a long and deadly stay for these men and boys who were our earliest American Patriots. Frigid conditions and poor supplies contributed to 2500 deaths of the 12,000 who hunkered down that fateful winter. It is well to make mention of the fact of the Regimental Camp Followers who also were rotating in attendance at Valley Forge. Those contributions quite probably prevented more deaths. Americans helping other Americans was born during the earliest colonial days of our country.

These Patriots at Valley Forge did not go home for Christmas and neglect the rest of the citizens of this fledgling nation, nor did their followers. They were on a mission to pursue the freedoms, rights and liberties demanded from the separation of King George III and England. The Continental Army was willing to back up our Declaration of Independence.

Though the battlefield has changed internally upon the United States of America due to a Bogus POTUS, a bribery induced Congress, and a weak Supreme Court, our Military is still the epitome of our National Patriotism and the Tea Party Conservatives are it’s Regimental Camp Followers.

God Bless America at this Christmas Season.

How much will Harry Reid loot the United States Treasury of for you this year? It depends how corrupt your Senator is! It’s not to late to call him and ask what you can expect as a kick back for yourself or your state. Harry thinks this is how business is done. So give him a call and join the national game of “It’s all just there for the asking” or “Lets make a deal” Harry may be the best player since Monty Hall. If Martha Stewart can do a few months for insider trading, and Nixon had to give up the presidency for some pesky burglaries. Harry should face the electric chair for pure bribery.

The best part about Harry’s methods is he has used your money to do it. Wow, what a leader.

Give him a call: 202-224-3542 From Nevada :1-866-SEN-REID
Be sure to get all your zero’s in order before asking for money. Harry likes to know how much is needed up front.

If you’re traveling in Chile and encounter a police officer don’t try to bribe him to get out of a t

If you’re traveling in Chile and encounter a police officer don’t try to bribe him to get out of a ticket. Unlike much of the rest of the world, Chile reportedly has a squeaky clean police force that will arrest those who offer to “tip” or “thank” them in exchange for favorable treatment. This warning was given to Carolyn Lindsey of TRACE by almost everyone she encountered there last week, and was even mentioned in the Frommer’s guide book, which says “never, ever, think about bribing a police officer – you’ll be taken straight to the comisaria (police station).”

Why is this noteworthy? Shouldn’t the citizens of every country expect that their police force doesn’t accept bribes or extort victims? Unfortunately, at least some of the police in most countries look for opportunities to line their own pockets. The results of BRIBEline, TRACE’s anonymous online reporting mechanism for bribe demands, back this up. In a number of countries, most of the reports to BRIBEline implicate the police force. Our reports on Russia and India revealed that over 30 percent of bribe demands reported were demanded by police officers. The numbers for China and Ukraine show that 11 percent and 18 percent of bribe demands, respectively, are made by the police. In Mexico, a staggering 46 percent of the BRIBEline reports involve police officers. TRACE has received reports on police in the United States asking for bribes, too, but has not received a single report on the police in Chile.

A strong, honest police force helps maintain the rule of law and ensures the safety, security and confidence of all citizens. Too often it’s the police in an area that people fear most and we hear a lot of stories about the “customary” response to a traffic stop or other encounter with a police officer. In one such story in Indonesia, the businessman in question decided not to pay the bribe demanded by the officer, which resulted in the individual being escorted to the police station and ultimately appearing before a judge. At each step in the process, the officers and officials he encountered were incredulous that he wouldn’t simply pay the officer to take care of the ticket – that was the accepted and expected practice.

By all accounts, the police in Chile are different. According to the Chileans we talked with, the police take pride in their office and are offended at the thought that they could be “bought off”. For this, the Chilean police force should be commended. Officials who do their duty without abusing their position do not receive enough praise and attention in a world that focuses on those who view a government position as an easy way to cash in on the power entrusted to them.

Grassroots in Nebraska

Stubborn_Fact-
sStubborn_Facts has invited you to the event ‘STOP the Health Care Bill Before Christmas! Rally’ on Grassroots in Nebraska!
REMINDER!! RALLY TONIGHT AT 6PM + DON’T FORGET TO BOMBARD BEN ALL WEEK!
An interactive parking garage map of downtown has been added to the site!

Time: December 22, 2009 from 6pm to 7:30pm
Location: Senator Ben Nelson’s Office
Organized By: Stubborn_Facts
Event Description:
NOTE ADDED 12/20 @7:00AM RALLY IS STILL ON!

For much more detail, visit THIS POST on the Grassroots in Nebraska website.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is pushing for a vote on health care before Christmas.

**So YES, it is rather NUTS to try to do a rally on 12/22 in <32 degree weather…in the evening.**

BUT…if there is ANY chance we can impact this bill, it really comes down to US in Nebraska -

Senator Ben Nelson, by all accounts is the KEY vote on this bill and has voiced his unwillingness to vote for it in its present form, including federal funding for abortion.

Sen. David Vitter (LA) an executive member of the Senate Republican Steering Committee, advised on a 12/17 conference call with grassroots organizers from several states that some large, visible rally in Nebraska with media attention may well have some impact on Senator Nelson. He is already under a lot of pressure.

He also said if we could get national media attention that would be very helpful.

The other organizers on the call offered their support by way of encouraging whoever could possibly come from their states, spreading the word, gathering national media contact information they have, and by donating money for us to run an ad campaign about the rally (see below).

Chris Comeaux from Tea Party of Louisiana has made plans to travel to Lincoln to help on Monday and Tuesday. I have heard from a couple of other organizers that they are trying to work things out so they can come also.

PLEASE – DRESS WARMLY!!

We already have….
Lights
Sound system
Gary!

So we need YOU and for you to drag as many people along as you can – and could use HELP, especially in getting the word out, and participating in flyer distribution we are arranging.

IF you want to help, leave a comment below.

If you need sign ideas, see this POST.

Facebook event
NOTICE
For this limited purpose we ARE trying to raise money to run ads on TV, radio, and print on Monday and Tuesday. There is a donate button on the Grassroots in Nebraska website for this purpose.
Once this event is over, the button will come down.

This law makes you think on what the elected representatives are doing at this time and realize that it is completely illegal. They believe that they are above the law and do not have to play by the rules. We need to push that charges are brought up to each and every one of the representatives that are benefitting from this health care legislation. Even though the funding is going to the states that they represent, it is still illegal because in the end it benefits them to get re-elected.

We need to keep pressing forward to cleaning up our federal government. President Ronald Reagan had the right idea when he said “government is not the solution to the problem but government is the problem”.

The current system is extremely corrupt and needs to be cleaned up. Look into each of the elected officials and see if they are working for you or working for themselves.

If your Democrat Senator voted yes on Obamacare for less than $45 million, your state got ripped off

If your Democrat Senator voted yes on Obamacare for less than $45 million, your state got ripped off. This was what it took to get Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska to shed his conscience and vote for an Obamacare bill that includes taxpayer funding for abortion.

In exchange for Nelson’s vote, Sen. Reid put a provision in the Democrat healthcare bill to make the other 49 states pick up Nebraska’s Medicaid costs forever. This is what it took to bring about a reversal of Nelson’s earlier heroic stance against a bill that will reverse years of US policy and force every American to pay for abortion. Nelson joins Landrieu from Louisiana and Lieberman from Connecticut who have each taken payouts for a yes vote on Obamacare.

You might be wishing that your Senator was as crafty as Nelson, or that he or she would hold out until the Democrat leadership offered your state a multi-million dollar buyout. The only problem is that buying votes through favorable legislation is unconstitutional.

Article I, Section 8:

…all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

Article IV, Section 2:

The citizens of each state shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of citizens in the several states.

Article II, Section 4:

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Back to reality, I doubt Senator Nelson will ever face bribery charges. But maybe my own Senator will get some inspiration and dip into the bottomless well of our Federal Treasury for my state.

There is plenty to object to in this bill. Maybe my own Sen. Nelson (Bill Nelson) could go up to the leadership and tell them it’s a no go unless Florida is exempt from paying Medicaid forever. How about an exemption from the marriage penalty built into Obamacare? What about an exemption from new taxes on our hospitals, doctors, medical suppliers, pharmacies and insurance companies? Any Floridian can tell you that insurance companies have no issue with leaving our state when business stops being profitable.

My Senator could, like Ben Nelson did, pretend he opposes taxpayer funded abortion until we get a deal from Reid. How about something that guarantees that Floridians can still get a hip replacement after they retire. He could pretend that this bill will actually cut Medicare by $500 billion like they are promising and object until they allow Floridians to buy health insurance from whoever they want (like a non-profit co-op) instead of only Obama approved contributo…uh, corporations.

Citing how this bill will make the cost of healthcare go up $234 billion, my Senator could hold out his yes vote until they grant Florida an exemption from helping to pay back the increased deficit and interest this bill will create. Wouldn’t you rather pay income taxes at today’s rates instead of Obama’s emergency debt reduction rates of 2011?

Knowing that there are deals to be had, frankly I feel that I can’t vote for my Senator in the next election unless he can outsell the competition. Then again, I think that’s the point.

Transparency be damned. If the healthcare legislation was so important to the future of the country

Transparency be damned. If the healthcare legislation was so important to the future of the country one has to wonder why it took bribes of elected officials (doing the best for their constituents) to get passed. It is no surprise that this purchase of power legislation had to be done in the dark of night since daylight would further erode what little support for the legislation remains. This raw excercise of political power expands the Americas burgeoning state of entitlement. Now these “powercrats” need to figure out how the legislation is going to be paid for without further bankrupting the country. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE!

How did Senator Harry Reid achieve cloture? Bribery of course: California $300 million for doctor payments, Louisiana Purchase $300 million, Nebraska $100 million and lifetime support for Medicare, Connecticut $100 million for hospital construction, Bernie Sanders socialized medicine clinics $10 Billion and then bailout for Massachusetts.

Wait a minute Massachusetts? Why would Massachusetts (home of Romney Care a model for ObamaCare) need a bailout? Because when the haves are too few to pay for the have nots you have a failed program. Romney care has not worked as advertised and neither ObamaCare. The citizenry is already burdened by recession (bordering on depression) and now face additional costs associated with ObamaCare. Surely insurance premium will costs will increase, not to mention the $70 billion “premium tax” on insurance plans that are considered “Cadillac” in nature. As an aside those are the plans most union workers have. Some actuarial data predicts that the bill could double premiums. The lowest estimate I have seen shows the average premium increasing by 10 percent.

Now to the dirty little secret of Coverage for all Americans wasn’t that the original purpose. Well guess what, not everyone is going to be covered. ObamaCare will still leave 21 million Americans without insurance coverage.

ObamaCare is nothing more than a POWER GRAB, purchase with BRIBES of the “MOST ETHICAL” Congress ever. Time to throw all the bums out.

From the Washington Times, December 20, 2009.

“Sen. Whitehouse: foes of health care bill are birthers, right-wing militias, aryan groups”

“Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) today took shots at those who are not supporting the health care legislation. During a floor speech, he excoriated Senate GOP members for holding up the pending health care bill and accused their supporters of being birthers and fanatics in right-wing militia and Aryan support groups. He started off by citing an editorial from the Manchester Journal Inquirer, which used the insult “lunatic fringe.”:”

“After explaining why absent GOP members who did not vote for the Department of Defense spending bill was tantamount to a “no” vote, he went on to say that Republicans and their supporters just want to “break” the momentum of President Obama.:
“Voting ‘no’ and hiding from the vote are the same result. Those of us on the floor see it. It was clear the three of them who did not cast their yes votes until all 60 Senate votes had been tallied and it was clear that the result was a foregone conclusion. And why? Why all this discord and discourtesy, all this unprecedented destructive action? All to break the momentum of our new young president.

They are desperate to break this president. They have ardent supporters who are nearly hysterical at the very election of President Barack Obama. The birthers, the fanatics, the people running around in right-wing militia and Aryan support groups, it is unbearable to them that President Barack Obama should exist. That is one powerful reason. It is not the only one.”"

Our federal government is becoming more corrupt as each day passes. The American people are being sold lies by their politicians. We vote the best candidate into office only to learn that they too have lied to us. This comes as the Senate voted on cloture of the latest health care bill.

Too many of the Senators have stated their cases maintaining that they would not be swayed from their beliefs. We now see that these politicians are only looking out for their best interests that will possibly get them re-elected.

Senator Dodd (D-CT) slipped into the health care bill $100 million to fund a new teaching hospital at the University of Connecticut. Senator Dodd is up for re-election this year and has an uphill battle for a seat he has held for 29 years.

Senator Mary Ladreau (D-LA) was able to milk $300 million for her home state for Medicaid assistance for her vote to push through the health care reform bill.

Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) was able to secure over $100 million for the state of Nebraska for Medicaid assistance. This after Senator Nelson stated that he would not vote on any bill that did not have stronger language banning federal funds on abortion.

Senator Bernie Saunders (I-VT) received what could be seen as the largest payoff of $10 billion, yes billion with a B, to fund community health clinics. While these are very important and should be assisted as much as possible, when is it right for the American taxpayers to shoulder the expenses for clinics in Vermont.

These Senators believe that receiving additional funds for their states is the best way of doing business to stay in power in Washington D.C. It should be criminal to allow these types of dealings to continue. It is against the law for these types of actions to take place in private companies in the United States. Remember how Bernie Madoff and Martha Stewart have been convicted on illegal activities and either are or have served time in federal prison. If only they had become senators then their actions would have been legal.

These actions should not be allowed for any political party at any point. We should not allow or justify these actions just because it may benefit the state in which we reside. Our senators need to look at the bigger picture and realize that this is a nation of 50 states and we all have to work together and need to be fair and balanced across the board.

Please stand up to the illegalities that are happening within Washington D.C. Please let your voices be heard and do not allow this type of action to continue any longer. Educate yourself and keep on top of current legislation, all legislations that are pending. It is quite easy to slip in huge amendments to any bill and get it passed. This needs to be stopped. Today is the right time, tomorrow may be too late, not only for us but also for our children.

At a 1 AM vote, changes in the proposed health care bill have been stopped. All the Democrats jumpe

At a 1 AM vote, changes in the proposed health care bill have been stopped. All the Democrats jumped aboard the Obama belief that the American people do not know what is best for them. They are under the preconceived belief that we need to live in a “nanny state” where we are told what is best for us.

If all goes as planned, the Senate will approve the health care legislation bill by Christmas Eve. This just in time for them to run home and hide from the American people. They will not want to be bothered over the next two weeks. The Senators will not listen to the numerous phone messages that have been left asking them to scrap this health care legislation. They will not read any e-mails, faxes or even the written letters from their many constituents. They will be unreachable.

I am not sure how many of you have attempted to contact your Senators on this health care bill. As one of the many here in the Commonwealth of Virginia I have made it very clear to both of the Democratic Senators that I do not support this bill.

I have a vested interest in this bill not being passed. My husband is currently on Medicare Advantage due to multiple injuries received on his work place. Due to the extensiveness of his injuries he has not returned to work and is not sure what extent he will be allowed to return. The changes being proposed by the Senate will cut his Medicare Advantage and possibly push him back over into Medicare. Some of you will say “it is better than nothing” but the huge issue is that there are many doctors that outright refuse to accept Medicare. We have been blessed to have doctors accept him as a Medicare Advantage patient because management of the care is a lot better. You do not have the government beauracracy to deal with when going through private corporations.

Some people argue at this point that the private insurers can stop paying for some care and even decide to not give patients needed medical care. More often than not, the physicians have a better chance at getting treatment approved through private corporations than through government-run agencies. Doctors make decisions in the patient’s best interest not in the best interest of their own pockets.

This new health care reform is only going to only hurt each and every American who purchases health care in the private market. The federal government is trying to get insurers to accept patients with pre-existing conditions and put caps on how much is paid by individuals. If you speak to any insurance sales agent, you can purchase insurance for almost any condition but costs may be a bit higher. We have had the opportunity to purchase private insurance for my husband for approximately $600 per month. That was for premium health coverage which is not too bad. Due to financial difficulties we could not pay for this additional coverage. The point at which he can purchase private insurance will really help even more.

As Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) stated during President Obama’s speech in September 2009 “You Lie” must be said time and time again. The president and representatives are lying that health care is an emergency and has to be passed today. They lie about the cost of this health care bill lowering the national deficit. Even the CBO has stated as late as yesterday that this bill will not lower the costs over the next 20 years.

Many of you feel that you have been defeated and run over by your representatives. Don’t stop now. Keep the calls going even during the holiday break. Keep writing those e-mails, faxes and letters. Flood their phone lines until the mail boxes are full. If you cannot get through, then do not be afraid of going to their offices and being heard. The can ignore the phones, the letters and the e-mails, but they cannot ignore someone right in their face.

It is bound to get sticky over the next few weeks, but keep pushing ahead and do not let your voice be stifled.

Late last night, Senator Harry Reid found the last vote he needed and forced through a cloture motio

Late last night, Senator Harry Reid found the last vote he needed and forced through a cloture motion to cut off debate over the Senate’s version of a health-care “reform” bill. Under the rules, the bill is now scheduled to come to a final vote and all-but assured passage sometime on Christmas Eve. (And if you noted the profound irony of voting for a bill that includes federal money to fund abortions on Christmas Eve, you’re not alone.)

It wasn’t easy for Harry. Republicans are unanimously opposed, while Several “moderate” Democratic senators had qualms about the bill because of the cost or (try not to snicker) over principles. So, the Majority Leader from Nevada had to wheedle and bribe work for his 60 votes. In the end, he got what he wanted, and we learned how much it would take for thoughtful moderates to set aside those concerns about wrecking the US budget costs and violating the Constitution principles. Don Surber shows us the price tags for a six-pack of senators:

Ben Nelson of Nebraska gets:

“As Part Of The Deal To Win Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s Support, The Federal Government Will Fund Nebraska’s New Medicaid Recipients.” (“Ben Nelson’s Medicaid Deal,” Politico, 12/19/09)

“In Addition To The Medicaid Carve Out, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) Negotiated An Exemption From The Insurance Tax For Non-Profit Insurers Based In His State. The Language Was Written In A Way That Only Mutual Of Omaha Insurance Company, As Well As Blue Cross Blue Shield Nonprofit Plans In Nebraska and Michigan, would qualify, according to a Democratic Senate aide.” (“Nelson Wins Insurance Tax Exemption, Too,” Politico, 12/19/09)

Read the rest to see what it took for the other five. Michelle Malkin has the complete list of bribes needed to get ObamaCare through the Senate.

Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and the rest of the Democrat leadership are counting on creating a fait accompli, that once a national medical entitlement is in place, no matter how poorly crafted or harmful to the nation, the public will resist having it taken away. They may be right: one of the great weaknesses of democratic government is that the people can be bribed with their own money – and the Democrats know that. Speaker Pelosi is so sure that this reform will in the long run create a large class of voters beholden to the Democrat Party, thus ensuring that party a long-term majority, that she is willing to sacrifice Democratic seats in the near-term, even her majority, to get it.

She may get the first part of her wish.

Jay Cost of Real Clear Politics thinks we may be approaching one of our country’s periodic “Jacksonian moments,” when the public grows so disgusted with the ruling party in Washington that they throw the bums out en masse:

People in Congress and the lobbyists who court them have pretty good gigs. They have nice offices, make big salaries, and have lots of people hop to at their say so. Yet ultimately, all of their money, power, and prestige come from the people. The people are the sole source of sovereignty in our nation. Our Constitution opens, “We the people of the United States” – not “We the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of the United States” or “We the senior members of Congress with plum committee assignments.” Everything about our system is the way it is because the people allow it to be that way. This is why it’s best for the entrenched interests and the politicians to keep their under-handed means and particularistic ends from affecting the people. They can take it all away in a single instant – so the smart approach is not to give them a reason.

This Congress and this President seem hell-bent on ignoring that maxim. It started last year with TARP. It continued into this year with the pork-laden, wasteful stimulus bill. It moved to the auto bailouts, reckless deficit spending, and coziness with Wall Street. And now, it has moved to health care “reform.” The people are taking notice, they don’t like it, and they’re starting to blame the government for the weakened state of the union.

We might be on the verge of another Jacksonian moment: a time when the people awake from their slumber, angrily exercise their sovereign authority, and mercilessly fire the leaders who have for too long catered to the elites rather than average people. The first time this happened was in 1828 – when the people rallied to the cause of Old Hickory to avenge the “Corrupt Bargain” of four years prior. It’s happened several times throughout the centuries. Most relevant to today, it happened time and again in the 1880s and 1890s, as the people hired then fired one Republican and Democratic majority after another in search of leaders who could attend to the people’s interests instead of the special interests. That age saw the birth of the Populist Party. It was a time when so many felt so disgruntled by the political process that young William Jennings Bryan – just thirty-six years old and with only two terms in the House – came within a hundred thousand votes of the presidency.

I wonder if we’ve returned to that kind of dynamic. In true Jacksonian fashion, the country fired the Republicans in 2006 and 2008 because they bungled the war in Iraq and allowed the economy to sink into recession. They might soon have another Jacksonian moment, and fire these equally useless Democrats for hampering the recovery, exploding the deficit, and playing politics with health care.

Be sure to read the whole thing: it’s a long, angry fist-shake at our so-called leaders, who in their arrogance don’t seem to care a whit what we, the People think. In a similar vein, Michael Goodwin, a liberal who supported Hillary Clinton and voted for Obama, unleashes his own inner Jackson. I wonder how many people out there are similarly realizing they were duped by Obama and the Democrats?

We’ll find out next November.

As for the irrevocable fait accompli, I’m not so sure. To create the image that this bill is deficit-neutral in the first ten years, Reid has had to structure it so that all the new taxes come into play immediately, but the “benefits” don’t begin until 2014. That’s four years in which the people will suffer from more money being taken from their checks, but get nothing in return. Assuming the Jacksonian wave hits in 2010 and/or 2012, this just might be one of those rare entitlements that gets repealed.

We can but hope.

A Sly Sunday on the Senate Floor

                             By Tammy - December 21, 2009

While most Americans have been Christmas shopping, and making plans for the holidays Democrats have been pushing towards new healthcare reform. Like a steam locomotive they have been charging towards the passing of the most important piece of legislation ever, healthcare reform. With corruption, bribery, and close door meetings they have gotten their 60 votes for the passing of this bill.

You can bet Pelosi and Reid are going to do whatever it takes to get the bill passed. Bribes, threats, favors and promises – everything seems fair game in this most unseemly health care war. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), using exceptionally heated language, called the health care bill on Sunday “seedy Chicago politics,” “backroom deals that amount to bribes,” “Enron accounting,” “the worst of Washington,” “phony,” and a “sham,”

The healthcare war took place over the weekend when on Saturday Harry Reids Manager’s Amendment was introduced. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) forced the clerk of the Senate to read the 383-page amendment aloud to the entire chamber. It took the whole day to read the amendment. Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma along with other Republicans gave a press briefing on Saturday as well. Tom Coburn said “To claim there is a pro-life rider in this bill is absolutely ficticious. Reid’s health care amendment can be seen here. http://www.politico.com/static/PPM145_chris.html

According to Coburn for the first time in U.S history federal tax dollars will be used to fund abortions. There’s no prohibition on abortion coverage in federally subsidized health care exchanges. The state opt out still requires each states tax dollars to pay for elected abortions. The new public option managed by the office of personal management and O.P.M will cover abortions. The managers amendment includes the reauthorization of the healthcare improvement act without the Hyde amendment language. The Manager’s amendment rejects compromise proposals on abortions.

In an effort to cook their books and show this health care bill is affordable, the government cut Medicare by shuffling the buffalo, and putting it over into Medicaid. Why? because previously medicare was paid by the federal and medicaid was paid by the states. So by shifting medicare over to medicaid they will mandate the states to pay for it…. So already struggling states who are going bankrupt will be mandated by the federal government to pay for all of it. Oh wait!!! Except Nebraska who got a sweet deal in repayment for their vote on the healthcare reform bill. They will not have to pay this

That’s when things really got heated. The last hold out Ben Nelson apparently has a price, and it’s 100 million dollars. 57% of Nebraskans are against this bill by the way. And…. after making a big deal about not supporting the bill because of the abortion language, he all of a sudden lost his principles when money was waved under his nose. Huckabee says the vote on health care reform is a pivotal moment in American history, and he took Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson to task for deciding to support the measure. Huckabee went so far as to compare Nelson to Judas in the biblical story of Jesus’ betrayal

The first vote passed in the wee hours of Monday morning, 1:00 a.m. to be exact. Their will be two more votes, and the bill is to pass the Senate before Christmas. But…… it aint over yet because it has to go back to the house. Stupak is unhappy about the abortion language. Hopefully they wont be able to buy the House. If you have never made your voice heard before now is the time. Call, write, and bug your representatives, and if it all fails anyway we must vote them out. Tell them their jobs are at risk if they dont listen to we the people. We need to send a loud and clear message. If they can use threats and fear as a tactic so can we.

Every time you think Congress can’t possibly hit any more new lows, they always find a way to prove you wrong. The latest embarrassment? It turns ou that the only way Senate Democrats were able to herd all 60 of their cats into voting for their Frankenstein’s monster of health care bill was by outright bribery. The bill includes a slew of special provisions and giveaways only for the home states of the Senators who needed convincing – to the tune of more than $10 billion.

What this means is that on top of the higher taxes we’re all going to end up paying to support this fiasco, most of us will be paying even more to finance Medicaid in Nebraska, Louisiana, Vermont and Massachusetts, community health centers in Vermont (does Vermont even have enough people to fill *one* community health center?), tax exemptions for non-profit insurers in Nebraska and Michigan, and Medicare supplements in Pennsylvania, Florida, and New York.

The most disgusting example was Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska, who at least had the grace to be embarrassed enough that he referred all questions about the bribe to Senate leader Harry Reid.

Earlier this week, Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) notified me that he would not support any bill that was not posted for a minimum of five (5) days or that cut medicare or medicare advantage. It seems that Senator Webb had a relapse of his promises and voted to support the final senate bill.

This bill will cut medicare advantage by $500 billion over the next ten years. The final bill that was voted on is a complete concept and nothing more. The finalized bill has not been completed as of this time. The final bill has not been posted, especially considering that Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) slipped in a 383 page amendment prior to the vote. This bill is a total farce and should be scrapped.

Senator Nelson (D-Nebraska) sold off his vote for $300 million that will support medicaid in his home state. This coming from a man that stated he would not support any bill that did not remove abortion funding from the bill. How easily he forgets what he said less than 24 hours before.

These Senators are selling their votes and us their constituents just to line their own pockets. This is a complete and total misgiving of the American legislative system. We need to remove each and every one of the Senators that voted to push this pathetic bill through which will not fix medical cost by a single penny.

Americans stand up. It is still not too late. Call your Senators and Representatives and tell them that it is not too late to stop this bill. If they will not listen to us, then we need to unite and push to appeal this bill through the Justice system. Today, not tomorrow is the time to act.

Jeff Schreiber does a great job over at America’s Right. Here is a great article about the rap

Jeff Schreiber does a great job over at America’s Right. Here is a great article about the rape of America that just took place while most of us were sleeping. Thanks Jeff.

“Is This For Real?

It’s 11:15 p.m. on a Sunday night. I’m in a king-size hotel room bed in Athens, GA with a snoozing wife and a three-year-old who is still singing “he sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake” despite the long, fun-filled day she had. It’s late. And, yet, on one side of my sister-in-law’s fancy MacBook Pro is a live stream from the floor of the United States Senate.

It’s 11:15 p.m. on a Sunday night. And Florida Sen. Bill Nelson is speaking, right now, on the floor about the Senate’s health care reform bill, which will be voted on in a little less than two hours from now. He’s talking about how private insurance companies will be forced to spend 85 cents out of every dollar on patient health care costs. Where, may I ask, does our federal government have the authority to mandate the capital structure of private companies? Where?

Why else would the lights even be on in the Capitol building unless our government is up to no good? This is legislation which will not even come into effect until 2014, two years after the next presidential election, and yet the Democrats feel it so essential to work through the night as the last weekend before Christmas comes to a close?

Most of America is fast asleep. Most of the people whom these senators represent, even if they wanted to pay attention, are sawing logs (probably not literally, though I’m sure there are a strange few) and catching winks in advance of a working Monday tomorrow. These people have no business whatsoever working right now. It might be different if they were burning the midnight oil in an attempt to save the nation with legislation that would have an immediate impact, but they are not — instead, they’re planning the destruction of our economy and health care system through legislation which will not take effect (other than the spending aspect of it) for another four years. If this is a great bill, if it is so necessary, and if the 60 percent or so of Americans who vigorously oppose it just don’t have their facts straight, then they should be debating it during the day, when most of America is awake and attentive.

12:06 a.m.

Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander made an excellent point — the reason they’re working now is because Harry Reid dropped a 400-page amendment on Friday, something that has been written and kept under the cover of darkness, and that they want to have it passed as part of the bill before Americans can figure out what’s in it.

I can count on the fingers of one hand when I’ve read 400 pages of anything in one day. One was Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, which I read in the course of one night as a kid. Another was Bernie Goldberg’s Bias, which may not be 400 pages long, but was finished in the course of a single afternoon. Reading, digesting and researching 400 pages of legislative language in one day is nearly impossible.

Other things Alexander noted:
$470 billion over the next ten years will be cut out of Medicare, and about $1 trillion in total.
$548 billion in new taxes starting next year. So much for reducing joblessness. And the taxes on medical devices will be passed along to consumers, as will the increased regulation on private insurers, which will be passed along in the form of increased premiums. So much for reducing health care costs.

The CBO said that 9 million will lose employer-based insurance. So much for insuring everyone.
Changes the bi-partisan agreement not to federally fund abortion.

A political kamikaze mission toward an unfortunate mistake. Damaging to the Democrats, but worse for our country. Nicely put.”

“12:32 a.m.

Chris Dodd is up. I can’t even look at him, nonetheless listen to him, without getting irreversibly angry. The only time I want to see Christopher Dodd at 12:32 a.m., or frankly at any time of day, is if he’s wearing handcuffs. And not in a Barney Frank kind-of-way, either — I want to see Dodd being led into prison like Bernie Madoff.

More Ted Kennedy stuff. Good grief. If Ted Kennedy were a normal, everyday American in the aftermath of this legislation, he would have been cold and dead long before he passed with the benefit of the best health care that money can buy, the same health care innovation and ingenuity that the Democrats are poised to stifle, discourage and destroy.”

“12:54 a.m.

And, as if to show evidence of nothing good happening in Washington, D.C. at all, Harry Reid is up.

Every ten minutes, he says, another American dies because they don’t have health insurance. Oh, please. We have emergency rooms ready and able to care for illegal immigrants who have no identification, nonetheless insurance. What’s going to happen is that Americans are going to die because Democrats destroyed the American health care system. What’s going to happen is that Americans are going to die while waiting for six months for a biopsy.

I will dance a jig in my new living room next November when Fox News Channel calls the Nevada election for whomever is running against Reid. And then I’ll switch over to MSNBC–just for a moment–to watch them call it. In fact, I will keep champagne on ice to enjoy during his concession speech.

And, gosh darn it, health care is NOT a fundamental right. Freedom is a fundamental right, and what they are doing right now is destroying freedom in the name of the perpetuation of power.”

“1:08 a.m.

Here goes. Cloture on Reid’s amendment, and the vote which sets up a Christmas Eve vote on the destruction of American freedom and prosperity. I mean, seriously? They need to tear these people away from their families, just so Americans from coast to coast will be too busy eating dinner and enjoying their own families to notice?

Bayh is an “aye.” Burris is an “aye.” Byrd has been dusted off and wheeled in; he’s an “aye.” Bob Casey, supposedly a pro-life Democrat, is an “aye” to a bill which federally funds abortions. Susan Collins votes “no.”

Lieberman? Aye.

Lincoln? Aye.

Landrieu? Aye.

Nelson? Aye. Unreal.

Cloture passes by a vote of 60 to 40. At 1:18 a.m. Procedural votes will come at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The vote for final passage will come at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday night. That’s Christmas Eve. It seems America will be getting a lump of coal in her stocking this year, and from this year on.”

This is a must read and please pass this on:

Next election

Lieberman voted out, Aye.

Lincoln voted out, Aye.

Landrieu voted out, Aye

Reid voted out, Aye!!!!!

I took a few minutes to write Bob Nelson. I urge everyone to do the same! Senator Nelson, I started

I took a few minutes to write Bob Nelson. I urge everyone to do the same!

Senator Nelson,

I started this letter a few times, Dear did not seem appropriate, neither did Mr. A term of endearment or a sign of respect hardly seems to be appropriate for you.

You sold out to the party and the were bought by Harry Reid and Democratic Party to pass a piece of legislation that could not pass on it’s own merit. You are a disgrace to politicians, to your constituents and America in general.

Not only will I provide monetary support to any person who opposes you in the next election but I will ensure that any Republican or Independent has my support for the rest of my natural life based on how I have seen the Democratic party conduct itself.

I have never been more disgusted with a piece of legislation, along with many other Americans. I sit in disbelief that despite our urging you in particular sold your soul and political career for socialism in the United States.

It’s people like you that give politics a bad name. You have done a huge disservice to your country and although your constituents won’t have to pay (as much) as the rest of us, they will indeed pay in the long for your force feeding foul legislation. YOU put your senatorial stamp on it. I know don’t care or you would voted otherwise. The end justifies the means right? You decide the greater good, but YOU are exempt from the ramifications of your decision.

Let’s hope the House has more spine than you, although the open bribery and disgusting conduct has been already illuminated there by people like Nancy Pelosi. You are puppets in this game, how long before you realize that your puppeteer led you in the wrong direction? Or maybe you do already and of course are following along with whoever pulls your strings or lines your pocket?

Disgusted United States Citizen,

Marcy Sowers
