Here’s the complete list of all 32 songs from Old Dogs including downloads for them. The soundtrack

Here’s the complete list of all 32 songs from Old Dogs including downloads for them. The soundtrack album for Old Dogs has less than half of them on it, but you can find all 32 of them below.

Not surprisingly, the music from the movie is mostly a throwback to tunes that would appeal to “old dogs” in real life, such as Bryan Adams, Wilson Pickett, Pete Townshend, Lifehouse, Dean Martin and Zapp & Roger. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Summer of ’69 is a great song, as is Let My Love Open the Door.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Brett Dennen, Lilly Allen and The Hives in the movie, not to mention Pizzicato Five, which is a total shocker in a mix like this. Plus, you can never go wrong with David Gray, one of the most consistently underrated singers of our time. His music goes much deeper than Babylon and anyone who has ever caught a live show of his can attest to that (hat tip to Ed).

The low point of the album is probably the clichéd use of Chariots of Fire, but overall, it’s a good mix.

There will be a lot of people who will skip this movie because they think it’s going to be cheesy, formulaic or overdone. For those folks, the commercials that say “from the creators of Wild Hogs” will serve as a warning not an invitation. But I will admit that I actually thought Wild Hogs was pretty funny and I am sure Old Dogs will be amusing in the same way.

Here are the songs from Old Dogs. Hope you enjoy them.

Everything I Do (I Do It For You)

Look into my eyes – you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart – search your soul
And when you find me there you’ll search no more

Don’t tell me it’s not worth tryin’ for
You can’t tell me it’s not worth dyin’ for
You know it’s true
Everything I do – I do it for you

Look into your heart – you will find
There’s nothin’ there to hide
Take me as I am – take my life
I would give it all – I would sacrifice

Don’t tell me it’s not worth fightin’ for
I can’t help it – there’s nothin’ I want more
Ya know it’s true
Everything I do – I do it for you

There’s no love – like your love
And no other – could give more love
There’s nowhere – unless you’re there
All the time – all the way

Oh – you can’t tell me it’s not worth tryin’ for
I can’t help it – there’s nothin’ I want more
I would fight for you – I’d lie for you
Walk the wire for you – ya I’d die for you

Ya know it’s true

Bleibt uns treu,

Der Peter

vivacious

one word… one family.

Vancouver rains a lot, if you don’t know. Too much really, it’s not necessary. I’ve been to Africa. Now there’s a country that needs rain. Vancouver, not so much. I hear China controls its weather. You think they’d let Africa in on that little piece of technology. Or Vancouver for that matter.

Vancouver: So… Africa, lets talk. You’ve got something we want, we’ve got something you want. What’s say we get China in on these talks to brokerage the deal. You scratch our back we scratch yours.

Africa: We want you’re rain Vancouver, we wont lye. But how do we know you’re not going to sneak shoddy TV programing, beavers, and Bryan Adams in with the deal??

Vancouver whispers nervously amongst themselves for a while until returning, stoic and poised with their answer.

Vancouver: You wont know Africa. It’s a risk you’re going to have to take.

…. to be continued

I haven’t slept much lately and my mind easily wanders. My point with all of this is that there has been one nice day in the last two weeks and I was able to capitalize on it with a rad little family shoot.

It was far out.

You’re far out.

Peace out.

Adam

ps: enjoy

i know, without a doubt, that any man who can serenade me with this song will win me over whole heartedly. i mean…god. listen to that voice. and i don’t know. there’s just something about it..infectious. i had the good fortune of seeing him in concert at the orpheum this fall. live, acoustic, unscripted, surrounded by (sexually) excited middle aged women, high on life (and green times)…undeniably one of the most memorable experiences i’ve had to date.

looking back on everything that has happened as of late, i know that my experiences, for the most part, would be considered memorable. i’ve lived and i haven’t regretted anything i’ve done. problem is though, i feel as though things are just happening to me and i’m not really in control of it. sure i’ll look back on something and think wow that was really fucking great but when i’m there, in the here and now, unless something is really unbelievable..it’s almost as if i’m not capable of feeling it. and well…all of my experiences are kind of like that. i mean, every once in a while i’ll have that moment of clarity where everything in that moment i can FEEL with all of my being and it’s absolutely mind blowing and all consuming. but those moments are far and few between and also..they’re not necessarily note worthy.

eg. i was sitting on the bus one day this summer. the sun was shining. a good song came on shuffle and i had that moment. amazing.

alright no. i suppose i’m not being quite fair. every awesome concert i’ve been to has come with a moment like that and well..maybe i just need a soundtrack to my life. seems like the only time i realize this is a “moment” is when there’s a song commemorating said moment.

it’s clearly much too late for me to be still up and writing because i’m no longer making sense. that, or i just re-watched my one cherished holiday chick flick and i’m feeling particularly sentimental, cheery (contradicting all prior entries), and lovely. i also want to move to england and have peppermint hot chocolate with colin firth but i guess we can’t always have our way.

I was in the local coffee shop today and heard the following song, which made me think of all the lonely women in my blogosphere. Heh. Enjoy!

So for all of us lookin’, waitin’, hopin’, expectin’, lotsa love, here’s my favorite version of Your Song. I love Elton John, but Al Jarreau’s version makes me weak in the knees. So I’m singin’ this to everyone reading this post who wants to know if somebody loves them. I may not know ya, but somebody does, and somebody is gonna sing this to ya. Take it from me and Al today darlins.

I’ve been staying with my brother this week (in my head I always call him my “bother

I’ve been staying with my brother this week (in my head I always call him my “bother” and chuckle goofily, though we get along well). This morning he drove me to work by way of his son’s school — half an hour north. As the primary caretaker, my brother spends an inordinate amount of time driving my nephew here, there, and everywhere. I think it would make me crazy if I had to do it every day, but he seems to not think much of it.

When I visit, I enjoy these early-morning rides, little slices of time when we end up talking about nothing in particular. I realized today that his commute routine is similar to mine, albeit an extended version: on the way to his son’s school, he plays a cello CD, part of my nephew’s practice routine for the instrument. Once he’s dropped him off, he starts scanning the ol’ FM.

This morning we heard some gems. We dissected “Run to You.” I head-bobbed to “I Want to Get Away.” And then there was “You’re So Vain.”

My emotional reactions to this song are all tied up with the summer of 1986 or ‘87, when my sister was living at our family summer house in Vermont. My parents and I came back and forth a few times — we no doubt interrupted her fun, but the visits were totally fun for me. And there were two cassettes that defined that summer: James Taylor’s “That’s Why I’m Here” and Carly Simon’s — hm, greatest hits, I guess.

And oh, the glamour of “You’re So Vain.” My sister filled me with wisdom, and I was incredulous. It’s about Warren Beatty, really? And Mick Jagger is singing on it? I suppose today Carly, Warren, and Mick all seem old and haggard, but twenty years ago that was some juicy stuff. And a decade before that, when she released the song, it was even juicier — check out all these attempts to figure out the truth.

Celeb intrigue aside, I just loved this song. It didn’t take long for me to start singing along that summer, even if I didn’t get the words quite right — I wondered, for a long time, about the “scarfot” in the line “your scarf it was apricot.” And I didn’t understand why she had some dreams there were clowns in her coffee.

At least, that latter misunderstanding is what I told my brother this morning. Even as I said it, I thought I might be making it up. My brother has just asked what the real lyric means. Here’s Carly’s explanation:

“Clouds in my coffee” are the confusing aspects of life and love. That which you can’t see through, and yet seems alluring … until. Like a mirage that turns into a dry patch. Perhaps there is something in the bottom of the coffee cup that you could read if you could (like tea leaves or coffee grinds).

Seems to me Carly don’t quite know what she means either. But it’s a great lyric, and it’s a song that still makes me instantly happy, after all these years.

It’s not that I’m an idiot (although, in the spirit of full disclosure, I sometimes am),

It’s not that I’m an idiot (although, in the spirit of full disclosure, I sometimes am), it’s that I’m sometimes clueless. Or, forgetful. Or, mentally misplaced. You see, there’s a lot of shit floating around in my cranium. Some numbers, some interesting data, some bullshit ephemera about what episode of what season in what obscure TV show a character walked down the wrong hallway to go to the bathroom, tons of music, a few memorized beautiful things I’ve seen in my days, some horrors I’ve always memorized, and a collection of all the breasts I’ve come across and been mesmerized. Yeah, there’s a pun there. A bad one, at that.

This morning, I woke up and smiled that kind of smile that only happens on a day off. I got up, stretched, did the various things I do when I wake up alone, the scratching of places and releasing of certain human fluids, then went to the internet and began absorbing facts. A typical day. There’s “significant amounts” of water on the mother fucking moon!

from here.

And I was reading some stuff about the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which I knew I was a few days late to, but it’s still fascinating, right?

I even put on some music as I did this. Made myself a little playlist in my music player and put it on random/shuffle, and you know what song came on several times? My favorite song by the Cure, that’s what. This one:

That’s “The 13th,” and I just adore it. Not the video so much, but the song, definitely.

There was a commercial on TV for a Friday The 13th marathon. And I thought, “Huh, that’s interesting.” Thought about 2012, the batshit crazy stupid but fun looking Roland Emmerich movie that came on today that I’ll probably see tomorrow with Conrad Noir, who tells me he’s not all that interested because he was let down by The Day After Tomorrow. Well, no shit you were let down by The Day After Tomorrow, right? Anyway, that’s most likely on tomorrow’s agenda.

Long story short, it took me until like noon or later to actually fucking realize that it was Friday the 13th. I probably shouldn’t be bragging about that.

It happened at some local coffee shop that I went to, and, well, it was embarassing, but interesting. I live in a small town, the kind where it’s hard to not get to know everyone and their quaint little stories. And all the Southern gothic ghost stories that goes along with it. So I do my best to avoid people as best I can, but today I felt like getting out of the domecile for a bit and going for a run and experimenting with various Pandora stations on my smart brilliant phone.

The search for the perfect Pandora station is man’s constant crawl towards enlightenment, nirvana, and the fingerbanging of God. The pleasure is in the quest, not the capturing because the goal is unreachable, but we still try. That’s the beauty of the humans, or something. Regardless, I’ve been bouncing back and forth, trying to find a good station while running/walking, and I took a chance on an 80s station.

Not bad, but you know what? As great as they can be, Duran Duran and Frankie Goes To Hollywood and “The Safety Dance” just felt a little too gay for this job. I needed something less festive, so I figured I’d shift a decade forward and did a search for an appropriate 90s station. Came up mostly zero, no joke, except for a fascinating station that played 80s music stars trying to make a comeback in the 90s:

Okay, that’s the lovely Bryan Adams song from the Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves soundtrack, which is fantastic all on it’s own (except when it’s used for a Dawson’s Creek fanvid, sorry), but in actuality, the first song that came on that station was Adams’ “Run To You,” which isn’t bad. And following that was some Tom Petty, which is always good in my book, and some Bon Jovi, which is atrocious (though old Bon Jobi works appropiately in some bar settings, I’m loathe to admit), and a whole fucking lot of Guns N’ Roses. It was weird, but I guess it did the trick, workout-wise.

Then I got to the coffee shop, got something to eat, something to drink, and meant to hide myself in the corner with some headphones and devour my meal and some more internet on my phone. Also with me were some printouts of various things I needed to revise and a copy of Warren Ellis’ new POD book, Shivering Sands, which had just come in the mail today. I feel like I’ve read most of it previously (it’s a collection of various writings of his from the internet of the past few years), but still, I was excited.

But as it sometimes can be when interesting people are in the vicinity, and frightfully true when there’s less than interesting people buzzing around you, I got sucked into some conversation. Found out it was 13th day of the month coinciding with the fact that it was also a Friday. Also absorbed some recent gossip. And, because of the recent anniversary, got involved with a conversation about the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War.

You see, the conversation got even more interesting when it turned out that one of the women there was German, a former resident of East Berlin, who had been 18 when the wall came down, and moved to America shortly after. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with Germans in the past (and no, I’m not referring to World War II, though that was no picnic either, ha ha!), but every once in a while, I have a good experience with their women.

The woman and I talked for some time about the Berlin Wall, and primarily what it was like for her growing up in East Berlin. Essentially, it was bleak, but fascinating. And we had one of those conversations that always pop where she mentions that she was feeling uneasy today because she had left her cell phone at home and she just feels like she’s naked and out of touch, but growing up poor in Germany, they didn’t even have a phone in their house til she was 16. “How did we live in that ancient, strange world?” she asked with a laugh.

She had just seen The Lives Of Others a few weeks ago, she told me, and we talked about the movie, which is really quite good if you haven’t seen it yet, and about the Stasi in general. She told me that the movie scares her because back then, when she was growing up, you just always knew you were being watched, being monitored. You always suspected who was a Stasi man, but you never really knew for sure. And it didn’t hit you until later that it wasn’t so much agents of the Stasi you had to worry about, but those around you because everyone was informing on each other to get ahead.

Could’ve been worse. He could’ve thrown up in her lap.

From there we went into little aspects of German history, talking about “The Iron Chancellor” and how the Prussians united the country a hundred years before the Wall fell, and we even talked a little about Merkel, or “Angie,” as she called her, and told me what a fan she is, being that they’re both East German girls. She told me how it was so weird for her to come to America in her twenties and get a more full view of her own little world up til then and to compare it to growing up in communist Germany, where history was repainted with a propaganda slant. She mentioned that as a teen they were never allowed to refer to the Wall as just “the Wall,” it was always as the “tool for anti-fascist defense” or something like that.

She told me how when she was in school, it was a mandatory field trip for the kids to be taken to the concentration camps and shown all the gross details, the rooms with human remains permanently staining the walls, with the empty shoes of little babies that were turned to dust, the lampshades made out of flayed skin featuring Jewish tattoos. She told me how the physical evidence of the darkest corners of history would never leave her mind and part of her was glad that she was forced to see that shameful part of her country’s past, but that it’s something she knows kids don’t go to see anymore.

I don’t want to use the word “fascinating” again in this post, but that’s what it was. A fascinating conversation, and a fantastic one, informative and insightful. I thanked her for her time and being so patient with my curiousity, and of course for letting me know that it was actually Friday the 13th. Then I left, since I had been there for quite some time and it was starting to look like it might rain. I wasn’t interesting in listening to sad old men with hair plugs crooning bar anthems into my ear, so I just walked in silence, my head heavy with thoughts about everything we discussed.

“Komm rüber!” Hans Conrad Schumann defects, from here.

It did start raining before I got back to my front door, of course, but my mind was elsewhere and I didn’t actually realize it until I was pulling my key out to let myself back in and realized I was shivering there as the water dripped off of me.

And how did you spend your Friday the 13th?

This may be a controversial opinion, or it may not. I’m never exactly sure what gets people r

This may be a controversial opinion, or it may not. I’m never exactly sure what gets people riled up these days.

Anyway, so I was walking around Kennedy Space Center with my family Wednesday, and was amazed like everyone else at some neat stuff: Actual rocket boosters on display, lifelike re-creations of some space missions, all that great history and record of achievement.

And I got to thinking, not for the first time, about why we spend so much money exploring outer space.

Look, I get the usual arguments: All that exploring and discovery makes life better here on Earth, every society has to constantly look forward to evolve, yada yada yada.

But did you know the NASA budget for 2009 was $17.2 billion, all from the federal government? Seventeen billion dollars. You know how many hungry people can be fed for that much? Do you know how many roads fixed, bridges built, and sick people cared for that money can provide?

I know NASA’s important, and outer space is cool, and that 17.2 billion in the federal budget is barely a drop in the ole’ bucket. But is it really more important than solving our current problems?

I don’t think so. But here’s someone who disagrees with me.

*** So this is just so utterly perfect. My good friend Steve Master, a heck of a writer and all-around good guy, alerted me to this. Apparently the Republican National Committee, as staunch a foe of abortion this side of Randall Terry, has had an insurance plan since 1991 that covered its employees … abortions.

According to this story on Politico.com, Federal Election Commission Records show the RNC purchases its insurance from Cigna, and two sales agents for the company said that the RNC’s policy covers elective abortion.

Until Thursday, the RNC’s plan had covered elective abortion – a procedure the party’s own platform calls “a fundamental assault on innocent human life.”

Of course chairman Michael Steele, a world-class buffoon, quickly disowned the policy. But I just love it. So until Thursday, a woman who runs a department advocating the complete elimination of abortion, would have the procedure covered if she got pregnant?

Just wanted to make sure I got that straight.

***So as Canadian singers go, I love Bryan Adams. Loved “Summer of ‘69″ the first time I heard it. Love his ballads, love his cheesiness, and I love his earnestness. I am not ashamed to say I own Bryan Adams’ greatest hits CD. Haven’t listened to it in a while, but I own it.

Anyway, I’m awfully disappointed in the man who once told me it cuts like a knife. Was reading a story about the incredible show “Glee” today (and how good was Wednesday’s episode? They finally gave the wheelchair kid Artie some back story! Though I admit that it was very weird hearing a slow version of Billy Idol’s classic “Dancing With Myself.”) and I came across this nugget:

Apparently, Mr. Adams is the only singer who the show’s creator approached for permission to use one of their songs who actually said no. “Glee” wanted to have Finn sing “Everything I Do, I Do it For You,” but B.A. said no.

Bad job, Bryan. Bad, bad, job. I will now go spit on the cassette single of “Do I Have to Say the Words?” hidden in my closet.

Well lets take a break from my rants on society and Bala and generally all sorts of unworthy writing

Well lets take a break from my rants on society and Bala and generally all sorts of unworthy writing material. Hence this post. You might not find as entertaining but I enjoyed writing it. Those who dont listen to Bryan Adams or Def Leppard or Bon Jovi or all those Hard rock kings wont understand a lot from this post, so I warn you, if you dont listen to this and instead listen to some wimpy Lady GaGa or Miley Cyrus, Go away.

So where was I? Ah yes. Bryan Adams. Well you see Bryan Adams was like my introduction to hard rock. The only rock I had listened to previously was soft rock. As a result I have always liked Bryan Adams music. Recently a major scam has come to my notice. I have recently become interested in Def Leppard and when I purchased their greatest hit album, I found a sound too similar to Adams. A sentiment shared with my mother who instantly disliked Leppard. Well, I learned that both used to use the same producer and I am beginning to wonder if he had been a double-crossing cheat.

Now my major bother is whether BA stole from DL or vice versa.

Look into my eyes – you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart – search your soul
And when you find me there you’ll search no more

Don’t tell me it’s not worth tryin’ for
You can’t tell me it’s not worth dyin’ for
Everything I do – I do it for you

There’s nothin’ there to hide
Take me as I am – take my life
I would give it all – I would sacrifice

I can’t help it – there’s nothin’ I want more
Everything I do – I do it for you

There’s no love – like your love
And no other – could give more love
There’s nowhere – unless you’re there

/MollBarn
